Welcome to this phone and forum!
To your question:
You'll have to downgrade to 4.2.2 and use easy rooting method. After you've rooted your phone update via ota to 4.3.

Batterylife depends on usage. If you're a heavy user your battery won't last long.
Mine lasts about 14 hours when I'm not at home (I use a bluetooth headset for listening to music - about 4 hours per day, mobile data, auto brightness etc). When I don't need wifi or mobile data etc I turn it off. I suggest you to do the same.
Also if your phone is new it'll take some time for the battery, just use it a few days normally and you will see that your battery life will improve.

Deactivate some bloatware with Titanium and Greenify some apps. Also if you don't use LTE deactivate it/choose for example 3G in setting.
And use stamina mode.
This will save a lot. I saved a lot with this little actions.
But you have to root your Z as first to do that.
Also there is a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/battery-life-how-to-to-7-hours-screen-t2382712
Just give a look.

When did you buy it? Go to the store where you bought it and tell them, that it was broken when you got it.
If that doesn't work send it to sony for repair

Sony Ericsson X8 BootLoop and Not Charging

Good day everyone
As of a month ago, my phone began to restart randomly, but this was about once a week. After some time, the phone just went into a boot loop.
The phone works if charging, but when removed from the charger, the phone simply turns off immediately and goes into a bootloop and the battery charge goes to about 2%. I have tried repairing with Sony Ericsson PC Companion, but no luck!
Has anyone encountered the same problem or knows how to assist me ? This would be greatly appreciated ! Thank You

Had the phone probably over a year now. The battery would have the same age, i never changed it. Would it be a battery problem if the phone is trying to restart all the time ? Wouldn't it just turn off ?
I had it rooted and cyanogenmod was installed on it, could it be a software problem ?

Time to change your Battery and if the Problem still exist even after installing a new Battery it's the Problem of the firmware!
Try PCC with a nice guide. just Google it!
Buying a new Battery would not hurt you, because a year old battery is just need replacement because it will make some problem
like this

I guess it's how far your're willing to go to replace the battery.
Ask your Sony Store, its not cheap, but they will change it for you.

By heating it up, you can also do it yourself.

[Q] Should I update to 10.1.A.1.434?

I got my xperia z yesterday and rooted it right away. Now I love everything about the phone but the battery life is horrible(5 charges from 5% to 100%) in 48 hours. I'm constantly getting a notification to update to 10.1.a.1.434. There is very little information about it. I wanna know if it changes battery life at all cause I read how people are complaining that the battery drains really fast after this update which would be ridiculous. And I wanna know are there any other good/bad changes, maybe update notes and most importantly, will I loose root?

I'm not sure. I'm not rooted and had not rooted my XZ yet. But you can always root it again if you do lose root.
you have re-root after updated.
I just updated and I kept root, will let you know if anything else changes

I believe if you update OTA you keep root, but if you do over PC companion you lose it? Either way you can always re root after if you lose it :good:

As previously discussed on many occassions you battery life will improve over time, say after about a week or two, after more and more charge cycles.
Yes you will obviously loose root, but just re-root.
does it rectify the previous problem of stamina mode not working properly?? and does this update bring (unwanted) new glitches/bugs?? also any other problem it may cause? i'm confused regarding this update. i'm currently on .350? should i update?

Hi!
Do You have any app using battery alot in "battery managment" in settings??
If the phone getting hot from the battery side (center of the back panel) so there is something may be really wrong
And if the heat come from the CPU side(near camera) so there is app running at background and use the battery,
Try factory reset, if not helped flash a stock rom with flashtool

Yes but you cant do that yourself you need to take it to sony service center and tell them whats the problem.
If you have warrenty so the repair will be for free but if not so you need to pay for it.

Your wifi is showing as on there? Do you have location based wifi on? Turn it off.
Also, do you know about Google services draining battery? Make sure GPS is off, stop the service, unintelligible updates to Google play services & reboot.
Did your phone feel warm when it is turned off? And does it take a very long time to turn it back on after the battery completely drained? I think we have the same problem

Need help, big issues

Hello, fellas, I bought the E6553 and it was updated to 32.2.A.0.253, I disabled the bloatware that I'm not using, but the phone is heating too fast and too much even when only being here in XDA labs. The screen brightnes is like half, and I can almost cook eggs on my E6553, I get 50k on Antutu... is a factory reset an option, or should I make a PC Companion repair?
Will someone help me ?
This phone heats up and it's quite normal. You can try many options but the best one is to get rid of it.
I've got mine as gift so don't have invoice and warranty card so cannot sell it easily.
Or
You can try underclock the cpu. Further check the Rev of phone on the box. Mine is Rev 2 and it's gets hot easily. Rev 5 is said be cool one.

I'm considering flashing fresh new ftf from flashtool, but will this make atleast a little bit differense at all?
By the way, my phone came with 6.0.1 installed, with chinese language and Z5's dark theme, that means that someone has done that, can this be the reason or whatever?
I flashed a stock .ftf, but the bugs are still there, what if I go back to Lollipop ?
