Hey Guys
Quick question.
Is there is a way to speed up the camera shutter speed through software, or is it completely hardware driven? I am using the Camera FV-5 app. Takes great pictures, just wondering if there was a way to improve the shutter response. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I tried that and the shots were still blurry unfortunately. I refuse to believe the camera/sensor on this phone is as bad as it is making out to be.

upgrade to 10F maybe it help with the focus
Not a big fan of the camera neither, I can't figure out how to take clear pics. Many pics isn't sharp.
I have 3 different camera apps and none of them is good on inside photo..
I have the original app, camera zoom fx and lgcamera, where lgcamera is the worst. Only on auto focus the camera actually focus (original). Still I get pics that isn't sharp.
I'm on 10f... For me it seems like it got worse after the latest update...

i have lgcamera pro and the free version, images are hits and misses (sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad). im using camera360 and camera zoom fx as well.
have you tried changing the focus mode to fixed, or other modes?
I start to think that the only good camera that LG had, was the Viewty I, Viewty II its not bad too... Instead of learn... they do worst.

Yes..
In the original camera app there's only auto and face reckoning...
In camera zoom fx it won't focus in fixed mode, macro and infinity just taking the pic with ones. Lgcamera is the same and camera360 focused a bit (macro)..

Oh, it's a phone?? Naaah, damn, thought it was a camera....
Well, o2x takes better pics, even my transformer prime takes better photos.. but besides that, I love the phone!

I don't think it's bad and I don't really have any problems with focusing. I just touch the screen where i want to focus and when it is focused I press the the shutter button (or volume button).
I also had the N8 (well 3 actually) and woow I liked that camera, though I had problems with the screen, pink tint and things like that. After the third phone I took the money back. It would have been very nice if the N8 was an android phone.
I love it too,i hope the next version will better than now:laugh::laugh:

I recommend u to use Camera ICS+, I purchased it and it works perfect for me. You may try the free version, which is Camera ICS, it is actually the google stock camera with some mods, but I personally think it is even better than the stock LG camera app, hope u enjoy it.:good:
I use lgCamera, both free and pro version can provide better pictures with ISO and focus control, but sometimes it cannot save picture properly (resulted in picture without thumbnail)

It is changeable. Current duration is set at 3 seconds. How long do you want it to be?
Code: .field public static final RELEASE_TOUCH_AF_DURATION:I = 0xbb8
where bb8 = 3000 (ms)

result is the final picture is blurry, and details lost although its tries to focus. its not just the visual part, seems to be a combo
Do you know any good camera apps that have better image quality and autofocus speed than the stock one? I would also like it to have similar appearance as the stock. I tried hdr camera, and it did have better autofocus and image quality, but its a bit hard to use because there are no on screen buttons, for example for flash, and picture taking is very slow for some reason...

HDR camera take multiple contrast images when you take a shot, so it takes a few seconds to gather them and compile them into a single image. And you can change flash settings in advanced menu. It is bit slower but 5mp camera isn't great for quality.

All you can really do is set exposure change mode to fast.
I haven't tried many other camera apps, but this one works well.

FX Camera and Camera Zoom FX are different apps...
The Focal Beta does look quite good as well, can't say anything about picture quality yet.
It can be downloaded directly from the playstore!
Perfectly Clear works perfect .
Fotor, once my favourite, crashes on Z1.
Depends on preferences:
Camera FV-5 is pretty advanced and nice
Focal has good potential and looks nice
Procam is working fine...
Wish SuperCamera was working properly, older version does start but the settings don't seem to always do much...
I tried to take a macro-focus picture with Z1, but it seems there is not macro mode in camera option. Any idea guys?
Change the resolution to 8mp. It won't display any mode at 20 mp.

Yes, but superior auto loses a considerable amount of detail and quality (it unnecessarily increases the iso)
for better results you can use the food options or you can deactivate the scenes, using lowest iso values and (in good light conditions) decreasing exposure level
Try using 8mp manual mode with touch focus option.. It will help..

I am running the latest 5.0 build from Google and my friend is running the latest 4.4.4 build. We are both completely stock and have noticed with the last Camera Update that when you switch to camcorder mode it gets considerably darker. I thought they fixed this issue and yet we have it again.

Playing the video back seems darker than the environment actually is. Pic 228 is a screen shot from the video and pic 017 is a picture taken

The videos are darker for me too . i think have done this to maintain the frame rate at 30fps .

That makes sense, but makes the camcorder useless in low light situations.

Turns out doesn't work in video mode .
Other camera apps maybe

I was about to say that setting isn't available when in video mode. L Camera is promising, but they haven't started with the camcorder yet. Its just pictures

I think this behavior is intended. I see the same thing happening to my gf's iPhone 6.
Its in every phone... To maintain 30fps.. Before 4.4.2 videos were brighter but at 25fps.. Videos weren't smooth on 25fps hence google modified it
Just forget about "stock", I use simple AOSP and camcorder is actually brighter than actual scene...
