Does the red development text on the splash screen bother you after unlocking your device?
If so, I have a modified hboot for you that takes care of it.
This was simply hex edited by me to remove the text from the screen, no other changes were made.
I have tested it and it is 100% proven to work without any side effects.
I originally did this for the Verizon HTC One and was asked to do it for the One Max, Butterfly S, and now the HTC One (m8).

Ok, Now you have your hboot, proceed:
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip filename_hboot.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.

FAQ:
Hmm. I find it weird that even when I do CD from the platform-tools folder, I cannot flash the HBOOT.
I keep getting the "cannot load hboot.zip" file. (I renamed to HBOOT.ZIP)
Any suggestions?

On Windows?
Windows by default, hides known file extensions. (.zip .txt .png .exe etc,..)
So you probably have the file actually named HBOOT.ZIP.zip
Try removing the visible .ZIP you have it named.
Then try the same command again.

1.) Download your modified hboot
2.) Rename the file to 0P6BIMG.zip
3.) Put the renamed file on your external_SD (not internal)
4.) Boot into hboot, it should see the file and prompt you to update
5.) After you have updated your hboot, make sure to remove the 0P6BIMG.zip from your external_sd.
Or else it will see the file and prompt you to update, every time you reboot to bootloader/hboot.

I had a couple requests for a modified hboot that shows the device as being Locked and S-On, while being completely unlocked and S-Off.
I went ahead and made that as per request and made it for the One Max and Butterfly S as well.
The process is the same as the one I wrote above, with the exception of the filename.

I would think the Dev edition should work, if the CID is changed in the Android-info.txt.
But I can't test that or verify it, so you may wanna hold off.
What is your hboot version?
If someone can pull it/upload it for me, I'd be happy to modify it and add it.

I changed my device's CID to the SuperCID.
I'll try to pull the hboot off my device; but not really sure how to. I'm comfortable with terminal commands though!

su (if you need to to get a #)
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p11
That should pull the hboot an place it on your sd storage.
If that works for you, then you can upload it for me and I can modify it.
Or if there are any OTA zips around yet(don't think there are), they would also contain the hboot and the android-info.txt file.

With the device in fastboot, USB Debugging enabled in the OS Dev options:

What does this do exactly? Tell the bootloader what mainversion the update is on? If so, then could you change mainver to 2.30.405.1 with a PG32IMG.zip
and not get the "Main version higher" error?

Seems to be a tool for flashing the splash
make a .bmp image not more than 32bit colour depth.
change to .img format
then you could use fastboot
fastboot flash splash1 nameofimg.img

Hello,
I'm seeing Blackrose in the development area. It looks like it's going to a necessary install for any future ROM upgrades. I haven't done anything with the boot loader since first rooting ages ago. So, I'm going to say I'm brand new again.
I'm having difficulty installing it.
I've rebooted into recovery (I have the single file on my SD card)
I have S-Off
HBOOT - 1.09.1000
When it searches to install Blackrose I get
CID incorrect
Update Fail!
I'm not on a stock ROM/Radio...Do I need to be?
If I'm not, and I don't have a backup, am I able to just install the stock rom for my region from the development forum?

Yes that is probably it, but if you are on Bell Mobile, then the modelid is PG3212000 and not PG3213000 which is probably what is in the android-info.txt file which contains the CIDs.

Yes, it has both modelid in the file, so you just need to add BM CID.
OK, I've added the BM__001 to the .txt file...But not the .img file, within the zip. Do I have to add it to the hboot.img file too? Or just to the .txt file...
I've tried it with the change in the .txt file, and it's still giving me the CID error.
Do I need to be on the Bell stock ROM?

Each time you have typed your cid in this thread its been different. A cid is 8 characters, make sure you are editing the .txt file with due care.

If you want to learn to build a rom from a nandroid backup you have to search the forums. use the keyword "kitchen" or "cygwin64"and you'll find what you need

Is Supercid a legitimate Cidnum for the HTC or is it just a pre production setting prior to distributor/network release?
The reason I ask is are there actually stock roms for Supercid or do you have to return to the original cidnum to match the rom and model?
The only reason I ask is if you wanted to return to stock for your own reasons but didnt know the original cidnum could you use a WWE rom(if one exisits?)
If not would the only route be the Dev edition convert to get to the same state?

If you dont know your original cid number you can get it by dumping your MFG partition (root required)

Thanks I am not that concerned about knowing as such...it was more about how and why the number exists tbh...I just have an inquisitive nature....understanding the history and detail can often unlock the solutions to problems imo.

Well the CID and MID and OS number are used to determine what files your phone downloads and installs as OTA updates
A RUU also checks MID / CID and OS to determine if it will work on your device or not
SuperCID sort or turns off this check and allows the RUU to flash regardless of CID or MID
SuperCID also interferes with OTA Update so it's not a perfect solution.
If you have an International Device and you just want to get timely updates just use one of the good CID
