Smartband software released. Need help getring apk - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Finally Sony bothered to release the Lifelong app, about two weeks after the smartband was available to buy. To everybody's surprise, it's xperia exclusive...
Before I return it, can somebody with an z1 (KitKat) or z2 share the apks for testing? APK downloader fails (I have a nexus 5)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.smartconnect.hostapp.ellis
Thanks.

Apparently, they are for the Z2 only at the moment.
Perhaps ask in the Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.

To be precise they are available for any Sony xperia with 4.4. Although optimal usage is guaranteed only on the Z2. I figured I had better odds on this forum.
See full description in previous links.
All I need are the apks.
Thanks.

Yes you are correct on the compatibility. I read an article on Android Central that incorrectly stated they were for the Z2 only. I see now that they are for all Xperia devices officially on 4.4.
The Z hasn't officially got KitKat yet, therefore nobody that has a Z is able to download the apps for you.
Even though there may be people that own one of the compatible devices here, you would probably get a faster result asking on one of the forums for the devices that have KitKat. That's all I meant.

please ask Xperia TX can use the room's cook Xperia T?
I agree, we need an exclusive Xperia TX subforum. MODS/ADMINS, I hope you are reading this!
Guys, if there's any, then you have already seen it here by now. Let's face it, most devs got T not the TX. Maybe in time, we will have more ROMs but not at the moment.
Anyways, we can still enjoy it by rooting this lovely phone.

Well, there should still be a subsection. That will promote more rom development.

No it won't. The only thing that will promote more development is more developers owning the device. Putting the device in a separate subsection will hurt development since it's extremely similar to the T.

Yes, it will. Developers don't need to own a device to port for it. If there was a subsection, I'm sure even FXP would have had a port out by now. Like they have one for the Xperia V.

Concur.
Or at least put TX on the list of devices, as done with TL which is just an operator's version of TL with no difference in design and specs.
TX, at least, have other id code (lt29 vs lt30 for T), other backcover design, and as was figured out, other firmware stuff packed.
I'll give my vote for a separate TX subsection. I'm owning the TX device, and I want to see stuff for my device.
TX is produced for East European, CIS, and Asian markets, which are IMHO larger in size than USA with their T(L)

What am I missing here?.. I was sure FXP supported TX and went to https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/known-bugs/supported-device just now, it says
2012 Devices
Qualcomm MSM8960 (S4) - Blue
LT25i - V - tsubasa - CM10 work in progress
LT29i - TX - hyabusa - CM10 work in progress

So LT29i (TX, "hayabusa") is not the Xperia TX?
^^
As far as I know, FXP doesn't own XPeria TX. There are similarities to T but it is different. I have previously asked the Moderators and they were suppose to let the person in charge know but I guess their assumption was that Xperia T and TX are the same but I think instead of TL, they should add TX as TL is exact same as T with LTE and locked bootloader.
I think I read somewhere that developers that don't own a device can not publish their work unless being tested?
Any how, even tho I have moved to Xperia T I still think TX is different and little more recognition could help users here.
As a fan of custom ROMs particularly Cyanogen, I would say I just bought the wrong phone, LoL. I can only fault myself, hehehe. Should have waited for Z , that one sure got many people ticked their interest.

First of all, take it down a notch or two. No need to get so violent.
Second of all, unless I am sorely mistaken, most development on this forum is for the T and not the TL. So, your US argument is not only invalid but also uncalled for. The latter simply happens to work with most of the stuff for the T since the devs mod it just enough so it does work.
We might or might not add the section. As of yet, we do not see a real need for it. Lastly, as entropy said... A forum will not attract developers, a device will. As for the comment about the device not being needed. You are correct, for stock ROMs passed through a kitchen, there is very little risk involved and one could get away with no testing. However, real development like aosp requires the device since you need to new able to look at broken stuff when it happens. And let's not even touch the subject of recoveries, boot loaders, etc.
Now, tone it down a few pegs. If we add it, we'll add it and you will see it. For now, there are no plans for it.
Oh, and fuzalert? Consider this a friendly warning.

Uhmm.... they are the same exact phone with the following exceptions:
TX: 4.6" screen
T: 4.3" screen
TX: 15258 MiB ROM storage
T: 30518 MiB ROM storage
TX: has built in FM radio
TX: 1750 mAh battery
T: 1850 mAh battery
TX: Bluetooth 3.0
T: Bluetooth 4.0
TX: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA
T: GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+
TX: 68.6 x 131 x 11.6 millimetres; 127 gramms
T: 67.3 x 129.4 x 10.45 millimetres; 139 gramms
Every other aspect of the device is exactly the same (processor, RAM, screen type, resolution, camera, etc). To say that one of them is better than the other would be silly. In fact, considering the larger capacity battery and HSPA+ connectivity... I would say that the T is a better device... but that is just my opinion (which I am keeping for myself). Devs go to the top devices normally because they know other devs will do the same. Availability plays a big role here as well. Getting devices from Asia is not a simple (or cheap) feat by any means. I hope this answers the question regarding the "TX is better than T" that was raised earlier in the thread.
Are there development threads for the TX that I may have missed anywhere in this site? Unless the answer is yes, I am not sure if this device will be given its own subforum.

I am sure you mis-typed and Xperia T has 4.55" display and not 4.3"
TX design is different and to my eyes looks better.
and side note: I think TX was marketed in Easter Asian Countries and usually its much more expensive for Dev. to buy phone online instead of being available in their market.

currently no way to root other than by connecting to a laptop/pc. if you have issues with camera it is either you have a software or hardware issue, update your software to the latest available and see if there are any issues, if they still persist you may have a faulty unit. btw if you have questions like this, post in the correct forum, please read the rules!

Exactly!!!! What's the BIg rush? There are chances that it will be updated to 4.4. This is because it's being looked into as shown on the device's page. You are rather going to piss the Sony devs up. Patience is a great virtue one must learn to exercise.

Look, it is not about the rush, it's about showing Sony that there are a lot of people that would love to see it happen. See it as a support for the devs hard work. And better now than after they say "No 4.4 for the Xperia T" cause once a case is closed, it stays closed.
See it as support guys.
i think its best no one signs that petition. Put yourself in Sony's shoes. They are preparing updates and pushing updates to lots of devices within a few months. We are all anxious and getting tired of waiting but a petition for 4.4 when its already being looked into is a bit childish and unnecessary. its jeopardizing things for us. Would have been better if it was a petition to AT&T for bootloader unlock.
Keep Calm and Wait for KitKat
Why would Sony want to release yet another Android update after 4.3 for the Xperia T? The phone is over a year old now and Sony are pushing their Z range, so they're not going to put any development work into anything but bug fixes really.
What would be the benefit to them as a business? Answer probably very little if any.
I've been hearing the same demands on here since the X10i was released! The fact of the matter its unlikely most handsets will see more than 2 releases of Android.

The benefit of releasing new versions of Android is getting users happy. Why people buy a nexus device? Mostly because that device is going to have guaranteed updates for at least 18 months.
If Sony (put here any other brand) would have a similar update policy many users will think on buying a Sony device, so Sony would sell more devices and have more profit.
Enviado desde mi LT30p mediante Tapatalk
Selling more doesn't mean more profit. Developing an update is very time consuming as we've seen and with that it will also cost Sony a lot of money. If it is even profitable to update the T to kitkat I doubt it would be noteworthy.
I would love to see 4.4 on the T because I have to go another year with this phone but I would understand Sony if they don't update our phones.

How do you know? Sony has always updated their phones to the latest android version that their respective platform supports. If the MSM8960 is still supported in CAF we will surely see Kitkat sooner or later.
Remember that SP and ZR were not included in that list too. Sony should at least write another "news" with more accurate description what with us. What's our future...
On their site we still have "Testing" phase under KitKat 4.4 and ZU, Z1, Z1c has 4.4 as current version. So they did some changes on their site leaving ours intact, forcing us to wait.
Nevermind, I'll get the Z2 as soon as it appears here Btw 4.4 is still under investigation on the Xperia Support site and the above blog post is mostly about the roll out for newer phones.
We need to wait until at least 4.5 is announced from Google. XperiaT has always been a version behind.
Released with 4.0 despite 4.1 being out.
Updated to 4.1 whilst 4.2 was already out.
Currently rolling out 4.3 as 4.4 has been available from Google for months.

Agreed, I have 4.4 on my ASUS TF101 but that is a custom ROM so this isn't an issue. 4.4 on a stock ROM makes my phone just as useful as a an iPhone. I hold all my media on a NAS drive and just FTP Music and TV shows over my wifi so no need for a PC to hook up and transfer over. This disappoints me as I now have two choices stay with 4.3 which I am extremely happy with or go down the custom ROM route for my XperiaT which I don't want to as I like and use the Sony customisation this is why I stick with Sony devices. For once I wouldn't be fussed that my device isn't on the latest firmware. Hopefully all the Sony 4.4 apps will be back ported to work on 4.3 ( I haven't looked yet as only just enjoying the 4.3 ones).

For unlocked bootloader you just need a good developer and that shouldn't be a problem.

I, absolutely, do not.
Z1 will get 5.0 that's for sure...
Not only 5.0, I pretty sure we'll see few more versions (5.x.x) after that.
Z1 isn't XS and it has a lot "support time" in front of it...
I know I won't sell it
Sony started to release updates quicker than ever before and I'm very satisfied with them now...
Z2 should get 4.4.4 as well but Sony finally admit heating problem (camera related heating, sometimes even overheating with camera FC) so they are fixing that and Z2 will get 4.4.4 as well..
But...even Sony is faster now with updates and we saw Google finished (or almost finished) Android v5.0 I really doubt it'll be on our devices before autumn...
Sony must work on UI and change it, or change some things in/on it so thet will need a time...
My guess would be:
October - releasing Z3 powered by L
End of November - upgrading Z1/Z2 and maybe even Z (even I doubt that) to L
If rumors are correct and snapdragon 801 will be heart of Z3 they will need new OS to sell it
Same screen, same RAM, same chipset.... They need something new

I realized that it's better to leave it.
I can't get "good money" for it so I decided to keep it.
My wife is using it and she loves it...
She was always saying it's ridiculous to wear brick in a pocket but when she took Z1 just for one afternoon I couldn't take it back from here anymore
It wasn't cheap to keep both devices but Z1 is just 9 month old device and I don't want to sell it for 300$...
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I believe all three phones will be getting the newest android update, the Z1 and compact are no slouches and a hardware limitation can't be called as the 800 is literally an underclocked 801 afaik and with android attempting to get lighter and lighter, save some feature which needs to have a hardware counterpart, i can see no reason why the z1 and so forth shouldn't get the update and even the one after that, not sure what that'll be called (MiniRoll maybe )
There's life in the old dog yet.
Could see a port getting done, but it'll more than likely never have everything functional, so you'll be trading off a lot of the stability and features you now have on stock / modded Z1 firmwares, the camera for example would be an issue, interesting to see it in action but I'd more than likely revert back to stock to gain full functionality again.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
