Hi all,
I've heard of the SiyahKernel for the I9300 which has dual boot functionality.
Does anybody know if this works on the I9305? Or is there a dual boot kernel available which is made for the I9305 in special?
Reason why I want to have dual boot:
I'm a huge Ubuntu fan. And what I've understood from what I've read is that it's CM(10?) based. So I'd like to use that as second rom. (I know, there isn't a version for the I9305 available right now, but I'll give it a try to port it from I9300 to the I9305.)
Thanks in advance.
As far as I was aware there is no dual boot yet for our device

If their is then its in Development .

Does it take much time to make a kernel which supports dual boot ?
Does anybody know how to port a kernel from I9300 to the I9305 ? Is it hard work to do that ?
And why does the 1GB extra and LTE support make such a difference for ROMS on the device ?
Thanks in advance.
Its not so much the difference as developers actually wanting to work on the phone . Nobody pays them its their choice what to develop . jje

1. Thats not REALLY hard, however you have to know what to do. Looking and comparing sources is good point to start. Take a look at gokhan or googy commits about dual boot for example.. Personally, I havent been interested in it, but I might look into it, why not
2. Apart from these, we have other radio, and that causes so much trouble with ROM differences..

It's cool that we have radio, but.... why do we need it ? seriously... we all have a mobile network subscription these days
Couldn't we just drop that in the beta/alpha versions, and add it in later then ? ;s

I mean, another radio, like baseband, ril etc. I wasn't talking about normal FM radio (we haven't even got one in i9305).
However, taking only these proper files (like ril + modem) from our ROMs and take them to i9300 ROMs might work, I tried some time ago doing same thing with temasek's cm10.1 and it worked.. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compile fully stable and well working kernel (based on temasek's sources) therefore I do not use it now ;p

Hello there, Im getting an xperia Z today!
I have been on this forums with the nexus 7 and the defy, and generally you get to know all the roms trying them by yourself then choosing the one most suitable for your needs
BUT there is always a general line if you are searching for more customizable roms or innovative, as well as stock roms with tweaks that improve performance, efficiency and battery life..
Can an experienced user which has tried many roms of this phone tell me their general impresions? what are the main feature/differences among the most used and updated roms?
THANK YOU!
You cant ask for best rom cause are all different, btw PAC is more personalizable than others

Agreed, each rom brings its own features and bugs. There may be a lot of roms based off of CM, AOKP, and AOSP, but there's a reason why there are so many variations. Just try them out for yourself and see which one you prefer. (and yes, PACman ROM is highly customizable, mostly due to the fact that it brings together Paranoid Android, AOKP, and CM.

AOSP-style ROMs (based on the CM/TeamFXP sources) are incredibly stable on this device as the other commenters have mentioned. But I have to say, the stock ROM is no slouch either! It is very close to AOSP and I recommend giving it (upgraded to 4.2.2, release .423, of course) a chance before unlocking the bootloader to install CyanogenMod or similar. Oh and if you are planning on unlocking bootloader, save a backup of your TA partition first so that you can return the phone to stock if you ever want to sell the device (highly doubtful ) or if you just want to give "feature X that Sony added in Android OS 13.37" a go.

What is the feature X that Sony added in Android OS 13.37?
I have C6603 kernel 3.4.0 gba 62870 and comp. 10.3.A.0.423
Is this the "best" or "latest" stock? cause no update shows up ^^
Im having a really good experience and many users signatures show that they are in stock, so I don't know if I should start trying other roms and if I should wait more features and functionalities come out..
Im really concerned with the nav bar.. I think it should be able to reduce the size of the nav bar, enable tablet mode (only 1 bar at the bottom and Auto-Hide it, I have this in my nexus 7 and it really improves the experience of having a bigger screen) Do you know if this is enable in any xperia rom?

The only ROM I know of which allows more control of the navbar (besides configuring buttons which is available in CyanogenMod) is AOKP (and PA of course, but that is cheating by modifying the DPI). There was a guy who made some mods for the stock ROMs to have thinner navbars, I haven't had the chance to try them yet though.

Hello there,
I recently moved to cyanogenmod 11 on my xperia ZR, and found it extremely good and stable.
Although we still dont have a stable CM12 for ZR, but ported ones are available, and giving in for the love for lollipop, i did try them too, but there are quite a few bugs.
So, Just wanted to ask, what everyone of you prefers,
A stable CM11 or a buggy but newer CM12.

the latest CM12 build of xenius9 seems stable for me. I prefer CM12. Little bugs don't bother me. The sheer smoothness and fresh-look of the whole user interface make me use CM12.:good:

I am too using that build, and i second ur opinion, CM12 does give a fresh look to the device.
stable cm12 will come soon
I bought this ZR a year or so ago and the phone has been on non-stock ROM's ever since day 1 inc a unlocked boot-loader since the same time. I've tried every ROM posted in the ZR section from the Xperienz onwards inc the CM11..
The CM11 nightlies were also "unstable" depending on the nightly chosen and I often had to flash back to a stable CM11 because of bugs in that particular CM11 nightly.
All the CM builds are constantly evolving and it's kind of the charm about flashing a new CM11 or 12 because we never quite know what we're going to get.
I used to be involved in the Nokia scene, modding etc, for the last few years and i like messing around, trying new things on the phone and im currently on the CM12 02-02-2015 Validus port (have been since it was ported by uncomment because it is stable with good features) and there are some amazing work being done by xenius9, Deadroza, uncomment and others giving us ZR users a choice..
The nice thing about CM12 is the interface but the development within CM12 is awesome and I for one would take a dirty, "unstable" CM12 anytime over a stable anything, inc stock ROM..
Hi
I have the same feeling about new LP ROMs...
We have only some ported LP ROMs with bugs. And the KK ROM are all discontinued.
I tried a LP ROM (don't remember which one) and finally I'm back to KK. The design of LP is very refreshing and it's a great sensation when your ZR seems to have reborn.
There is some problems that bother me like :
- The notification LED don't works in silent mode. On Z, the LED still work when we disable the vibrator.
- The data switch is crappy. We have to press a least 3 times to activate or desactivate the data instead of just 1 time on quick settings of KK. It's the same problem for localisation switch. On KK we can choose the localisation mode quickly by pressing the same button again.
- The bluetooth audio. It works great but after some connections the sound is not play in the peripheral. We have to restart the phone to have a fonctional bluetooth back.
Due to this little but boring things I'm on a MokeeKK ROM since the begin of febuary...
Do you know if some of this things are solved? I don't have the courage to try a LP ROM just to find out if there is some evolutions. And if there is some evolutions, which ROM did you advise me? CM12, CM12.1, Resurrection Remix?
Thanks in advance

If I ask people about this things it's because it's easy for LP users to check it and tell me if there is an evolution since january LP builds.
It's easy to check the problem of LED and tell me if there is and evolution concerning the switches of data and localisation.
I know that I can make a full backup of my KK ROM but I'm busy.
If somebody can help me, it will be nice.

Flashable fix for call audio that is kernel independent and will patch International based ROMS to work on your T/W8 variant.
You still need a kernel that is T/W8 compatible flashed for this patch to work.
Code:
You can get it [URL="https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952614440"][B]Here[/B][/URL] for 5.0.2
And you can get it [URL="https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347831878"]Here[/URL] for 5.1.1
Updated 5.1.1 package to BOI6
This patch can also be implemented by ROM builders who wish to build a F based rom for their T or W8 devices Just remember to give credit where it is due. This was a bigger pain in the butt to track down then it appears.
Let me know if you find any issues that may be relative to the fix. Tested and working by my self and a few others.
This patch can also be implemented by ROM builders who wish to build a F based rom for their T or W8 devices. In that regard it *should* also work on Edge variants as well.
Rom builders: you can also use this to build a truly universal ROM one flash to cover it all.
Download my kernel and examine its structure. specificallt look at the scripts that probe device variant and then copy the required files and kernel. You can adapt this to work the other way . But always run it *at the end* of the installation script so anything it patches does not get overwritten by your usual installer code

True. Found out what the problem was and it had nothing to do with this. You guys are good!
I've tried this on the G925T (The TMo S6 Edge), but it didn't seem to work with ktoonz kernel. Not complaining, just letting you know. Thanks for your hard work and assistance (both of you).
*Edit*
Installed Simpl Kernel with this mod and it worked. I'm using XtreStoLite ROM, but didn't work with ktoonz at all (with the fix). Flashing Simpl with with the fix worked just fine. Still need to get used to the Intl ROM.
My apologies beforehand, would you mind clarifying what this patch allows us to do. Can we patch Roms from other providers, I'm just a little confused.
This is a compile done for a friend, as he found lp/mm roms to be unbearably laggy, especially when using social media/chatting apps. Just thought it could help some folks hoping to run an updated kitkat in their old(but great) galaxy s3. After some usage, his words were: this phone is part of my hand again .
This is a straight compile from cm11 sources for i9300, with the pac-rom source code(the best kitkat custom rom imo). Battery life, performance and stability are truly superb. Sources merged on 12-Oct-16, therefore having the latest stagefright and other security patches built-in. Wifi-fix for i9300 is also integrated. The rom is working fine with the latest boeffla-kernel(2.14) released for cm11, and thats the tested and recommended configuration. Some useless apps removed(like voicedialer, whisperpush, moviestudio, pacconsole and some more i can not remember) and i also removed pac console from the rom configuration settings framework as well. Have fun using it.

All credits go to cyanogenmod and pac-rom team for both their amazing roms and sources for i9300 and many other phones we use and love!
Thanks you,!!

Not having the phone means no screeshots . You can try it and put some up for everyone to see. You wont be disappointed.
What about gapps?? We have to dwnload it?
This is a clean rom, no gapps, xposed, or other mods included. use opengapps.
Really appreciate your efforts here... Great work on this rom... everything working fine... If possible can you put some time looking into Archidroid 4.4.4... IMO it was the best rom our s3 could ever have.... It has some wakeblock issues that might get resolved if we update the sources. Again thanks for your effort. S3 community owes you!

Thanks for this great ROM. The only issue I have is I cant get 3G to work. Any suggestions? Would be much appreciated...
Its probably an APN problem, try inputting your carrier settings manually. 3g works fine on my friends' phone.
The rom is incredible but I need to restart my system with Wifi turned on so it can connect. If it disconnects (for any reason, disabling wifi, getting out of range etc), it only flashes "Connecting..." when connecting to the router again, but it doesn't connect
Try the fix in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/wifi-fix-cm11-i9300-t2910872 . I already included the needed file in the rom, and it works fine here, but it couldnt hurt to try. Could it also be your router causing this?

Will try! And it isn't the router, it worked with cm12.1 (no issues whatsoever) and cm13 (the issue on cm13 was random disconnects but it was rom related too).
Hey!
Switched to this rom recently and being very impressed, it having all the features one could ever want yet stable and battery friendly. Definitely better than MM roms on S3.
However do we need an kitkat bootloader or do we even have one available? Still on the official 4.3 bootloader and just wondering if could get more stability if upgrading it to kitkat.
Kitkat bootloaders dont exist for the i9300, since it never officially got kitkat. Last semi-stock kitkat rom for the i9300 were ported roms from n7100 and the korean variant of gs3, and they did not include a bootloader, because it would hard-brick the phone. Having installed 4.3 before this was the best you could do. Having this rom installed in 2 phones(my friend's and my sister's) i definitely recommend installing boeffla's last cm11 kernel, no stability, battery, or features problems with it. Actually, apart from the rebooting on uninstalling themes bug, no other bug has been reported to me from them, no even ones in the thread.
