Lost ADB - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I can't seem to connect via ADB anymore after running firewater and I really need to update the TWRP and such. I've spent the last two hours searching so if it is simple I apologize. Using the same folder that I used to root and S-off the phone.

Downgrade 2.31.651.7 to 2.27.651.5 Possible?

Is it possible to downgrade my HTC Hero CDMA from 2.31 to 2.27? I had to RUU back to sense when I did an ESN swap and I was unaware of the root block patch so I just did 2.31. Now I can't root it for the life of me. I have tried using this method:
[ROOT] Easy Root, works with any Stock ROM (Including 2.31.651.7!) - xda-developers
I have tried using AndRoot, Super Oneclick and another ADB push method.
I have also tried rooting with z4root. Temp root works fine until I reset, If I try to perma root with Z4 root it gets to the "Rebooting...." phase and doesnt ever leave from that page. I have rooted plenty of phones as well as this one before but never had this much hassle. Am I missing something?
I even went as far as to reflash the 2.31 RUU just to set everything BACK from all the root attempts, then open Z4 root and no bueno.
In order to downgrade I've tried the "Goldcard" method as well as running older RUU.exe files. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? I've already went through faq's and searched all over, nobody ever has a response besides "try z4 root mine worked", obviously theres still issues.
how do you go about downgrading from 2.31 to 2.27? I have tried z4 root, androot, superoneclick, ive tried pushing the rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin files through the cmd prompt, ive only been able to temp root with z4 with success, anytime i try to load the bootloader it always says S-On, anytime i try to perma root with Z4 it gets stuck in the "Rebooting...." part and never ends up fully rooting itself.

When using z4root you have to pull the battery and manually reboot once it gets to rebooting text. Once rebooted you will be rooted

Root error

Hello, I've been wanting to root my HTC One for a while and now I actually sat down and began searching for guides etc and I went on htconeroot.com and used their guide but whenever I try to even finish the first step, I get the message "adb unable to connect for backup"
this makes 0 sense to my mind as I've never really tried modifying things in batch before, I just want to root it so I can use the google rom
relevant information: stock android 4.3 sense 5.5, using pc with w8
guide I used but didn't work due to bat message: htconeroot.com/ htc-one-root/how-to-root-htc-one-windowsmaclinux
edit: testing with hasoon200 toolkit I can't get past token ID cause it says error device offline

Im also having problems with rooting. I unlocked my bootloader, instaled twrp and even installed the viper rom. After going back to my recovery of the original rom, Im having problems with root, cant install any rom and when i try to re root it, console shows me error:device offline. I updated all of the drivers. I used All in one kit by hasoon2000 for everything. Any ideas anyone?

[Q] Need Help Rooting HTC First Without PC

Hello! I've aquired an HTC First a while ago. I've had some experience rooting my Sharp (forget which model it was), and my Pantech Pocket (P9060), but both times i've had access to a Windows PC, but this time, i'm trying to root my HTC First (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) but I don't have a pc that I can use to root my phone. I've done it before with my brother's First as well with a pc. But i'm trying to find an app or a method that I can use to root it without a computer. I've tried Framaroot, but only two of the available exploits would show (Gandalf and Aragorn) and none worked. I've tried Key Root Master to no avail as well. I've even tried Poot, but nothing seems to work for my device. Is there anything I can do?

You need a computer..... because you need unblock de booloader (fastboot) for root de phone an install a custom recovery.
I'm fine now, I used my mom's laptop to root my phone. I was just seeing if there was anything I could do while I was lacking the PC.
what did you use to root it with. or how did you do it

Marshmallow ZV9 zip or flashable OTA with no pc use available?

I use a Mac. I can't seem to get my phone to be detected with the OEM cable, and several others. I've tried all my USB ports... But it detects my wife's. Anyway, due to this reason I can't root or do jr. Wanna-be-programmer modding to my phone because; the programs are pc only. Even with virtual virtual box, no luck. So I was wondering since 6.0 was rolling out OTA this weekend , apparently it went live last night. if anyone has a zip I can download and just flash or is there a way to do this with the TOT not involving a pc
I am unrooted on the latest OTA update via sprint, I think it's ZV6.
Thank you all for your help and guidance. Happy holidays.
Hey Perry the Saint,
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to your problem. I have a Mac as well with ADB and Fastboot. I've been looking for a way to root my G4 on ZV6 and haven't found anything, or at least anything I have the knowledge to do. Can you suggest a way to root my phone using terminal? I'm mostly interested in root for now and maybe a custom recovery later. Thank you so much and I hope you find a solution to your problem so you can get root as well.

[Q] Simple Root?

Spent past 3 hours looking at tutorials following all sorts of different guides, but I am no smarter than before. I tried the adb method, but even after finding the matching adb version adb does not list the device, neither does the phone display the popup to auth the debug. I enabled developer options and allowed usb debug already. I now have the phone in recovery, fastboot has found it, but I don't know what to do next. I simply wish to root the phone as it is now, not install a custom rom or reset it killing all files and settings, just root it as is so I can make use of some apps requiring root or adb(as during screen off something keeps killing the battery and I don't know which app it is, also want to remove some bloatware). Where do I go from here?

Which recovery you have? TWRP?
I have not run any rom or different bootloader, because I do not want to lose all data and settings. I tried saving those using the sync manager, failed, tried using Helium, would not connect.

Without root you will have trouble with backup. You can only use google backup in settings.
So my only option would be to try my best at making backups and then... well what then, I looked at a lot of tutorials, but none of them seemed to actually be current or the links and things were broken. It's pretty frustrating from an end-user perspective to get root when all the stuff from the search engines linking to here have their links removed or information outdated.

If you want to root your phone you'll need to unlock the bootloader (if not already done) and this will wipe your phone, there is no way around this (unless it's S-OFF)

Second step is to flash a custom recovery, TWRP is the preferred one
https://dl.twrp.me/m7/
Last step is to flash Supersu.zip or Magisk.zip
