Can anyone tell me if my HTC One (FW 4.3, rooted and fully chraged) can be used with more than one mounted device at a time ?
My aim is to mount a CF card reader and a portable HDD, so I can transfer photos (RAWs) from the reader directly to the HDD.
I've bought a powered USB 3 hub and downloaded the "Nexus Media Importer" app.
But, I'm unable to make 2 devices show at once. Even if I try 2 USB sticks.
All the devices will show up individually, but not when more than one device is connected.
I've connected the USB hub to my PC and it works perfectly.
I'm not sure if the problem is the app or if the phone can't handle mounting 2 or more devices.
Thank you for any help.
Anyone ?

I have tried many times to copy files to the SD card in the Nexus One. I can mount it but it will only stay connected for a short time. It's seems as soon as any other application tries to read it the phone dismounts the SD card. I can tell it to mount again but then whatever program I'm using crashes because the SD card has disappeared in the middle of a file transfer.
I also tried Bluetooth but while they can see each other they both error if I try to pair one with the other.
Not having much luck with this phone. My old HTC Cruise has no problems with this.
Ok, I disconnected and unpaired the Plantronics headset and then was able to pair with the PC, after a few tries. The android Bluetooth implementation seems to be a little buggy. I was then able to re-pair the Plantronics headset.
But I did not know that the Bluetooth conection can't be used for file sync.
How do you all get music and such on this thing? The Nexus One Dock don't even have a data connection. This just seems so odd.
If I take the Micro SD out and put it into a SD adaptor it works fine on the same Windows 7 (64bit) box. I also have a scanner, printer, digitizer, Microsoft IR Port, Bluetooth and numerous flash drives that work fine on the Windows 7 install.
In the Nexus One as soon as I try to run a Check Disc on the SD card it dismounts or crashes the PC. In the USB SD adaptor it works fine.
What is work with the Nexus One's USB and Bluetooth? do you think they will fix it?
I had a similar problem with an older version of cyan mod.
It would unmount the sd card as soon as I started copying files to it but making a new folder or draging files off it was okay.
Have you rooted/loaded a custom rom?
No mods. But I've had some luck.
I had it plugged into a powered USB 2.0 hub and then when it did not work I tried a few ports right on the back of the PC and still it had problems. Then when I was testing with the SD adapter, I had it in the USB port on the Dell display. Just for the heck of it I tried it and it worked. What the heck? I guess maybe some of the ports on the back are underpowered along with my powered USB hub but like everything else I have works fine, including my HTC Cruise. ???
I'm going to try the port that the Dell display is using and the some of the other ports. Seems like the Nexus One is on the edge and you need a "to the spec" USB port. Gots to love technology.
Hi everyone,
I have a 2010 Honda Insight model with a USB compatible car radio.
I have owned other phones and the car radio supports iPhone 3G, Nexus One and an ordinary USB flash drive.
However a Samsung Galaxy S it does want to recognize. It says first USB LOAD and later UNSUPPORTED on the display.
I have tried several methods on the phone after USB is plugged in: click on home button after MTP connect screen appears, put USB in debug mode and choose to connect drive after USB dialog appears.
Does not work with and without external SD.
Is it the MTP background process that bothers the car radio?
Or it does not support drives which are partioned into several filesystems. The first filesystem is FAT32. But why the Nexus One is supported?
Any clues are very welcome!
not sure but this is my guess.
the MTP is not what the car is expecting. It expects a mass storage usb-drive. In settings you will find usb-options. There you can set it to be recognised as a mass storage device instead.
By some odd reason you also have to pull down the infoscreen and click usb, and then click mount
thanks for your help
in my phone i dont have settings to choose MTP vs MSC (mass storage device).
I did choose in info screen for mass storage device and I connected, but the car radio did not want to recognize.
How can I kill the mtp background process? What is the process name?
i have the same problem with my 2009 Civic Si
I tried all of the usb modes, with debugging on and off for each. still no luck.
insteads of USB, use bluetooth
for usb to work, you need to mount the drive, and make it run as a mass storage device
Is there any other solution for a car without Bluetooth?
I also have a Honda Civic with the USB audio and a Galaxy S Captivate phone. Every connect method I've tried so far fails. Has anyone gotten this to work? My car doesn't have Bluetooth.
Any help is appreciated. I am welcome to solutions that include rooting and loading a different ROM.
I have the same problem on Honda stereo... Is it possible to update the care stereo itself? Maybe someone could develope this into a ROM?
I a have a Samsung Vibrant and a 2010 Honda Civic LX. I used a "Dynex - Microphone Headset for Select Music Mobile Phones" Model: DX-MP3MA SKU: 9535327 (from Best Buy) and attached that to my phone. Then I attached a "Dynex 3' 3.5 mm stereo Audio Cable" Model: DX-MP353B SKU: 8915178 to the "Aux" input underneath the "Lighter". It worked PERFECTLY! It also works perfectly when attached to a Yamaha Home Theater System that was made to be compatible with iPhones/iPods. I used the input for "Portable." I hope this helps!
Obviously I attached both cables to one another.
In fact I am listening to Pandora (using Samsung Vibrant) connected to my Yamaha Home Theater right now and it sounds awesome.

If you buy the equipment from Best Buy, you can always return it.
promet, in theory that won't have the same audio quality as connecting the car stereo to the SGS via USB as a USB storage device.
this is a solution i got working on pretty much all types of car stereos

Unfortunately this did not work with my AVH-5200bt . It charged, but wouldn't mount!
Anyone have another possible solution? Pretty much the only use I have for my ipod is hooking it up to my stereo lol.
Hey all,
I've been having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy II LTE (almost identical to the "Skyrocket" from AT&T) in my 2010 Honda Civic USB.
For what it's worth, I've managed to get it at least partially working.
I used "Multi Mount SD-Card" (you can find it in Android Market/Google Play, requires root unfortunately) and tried enabling only one SD card to be mounted at a time.
For whatever reason, it works fine if I only share the the internal storage, but not if I share my 32GB external card. Both music folders are identical, so I don't know if it has a problem with the card being used, the size of it, or if I need to low-level format it, etc (hence another round of troubleshooting next week).
So, I've sorta gotten it working, but not the way I want it to be working. I hope this helps someone.

Any news on this? Thanks!
I got LG stylo and sumsong Galxy s3 could not get my car Bluetooth to work and neither the usb any help
Hey there folks, after my battle with Verizon, Bestbuy and Motorola I finally found an Android phone that would work for me (for the most part) up here in Canada. I have only had one issue so far and that would be using it in my vehicle with the USB port on-board.
I've had the phone for a few months now and never really needed this functionality until my 2nd iPod of the year was "liberated" from my vehicle over night. Now since buying the phone I've rooted, installed Darky's ROM series and formated the internal 16GB and external 16GB SD cards before putting my songs onto the external in a folder just labeled 'music'. Here is what I have just so you get a better idea:
-SG:S I9000M (Bell) with Darky Mod/ROM 9.5
-GM Chevrolet Tahoe (2010) with a standard USB port (which apparently works with thumb drives too but I might as well try to get my phone to work, charger + music = winning).
Lots of good R&R, and some really crappy techno (JK I like electronic too & classical as well as long walks on the beach).
-USB connection styles I've tried include: Mass Storage, Debugging, and Media Player (Kies no longer appears since I don't use Touch Wiz).
-The error my vehicle throws out is "Unknown device connected"
So I pose the question: do I need some config file on the SD cards, the phone or in a folder to tell my vehicle what the heck I just plugged in or do I need to put my music in a special folder? I don't know how apple does it, but I hate apple since their latest iPod update (Media Monkey can no longer sync the music without the iPod whining and slitting it's digital wrists about syncing with iTunes) which forced me to install iTunes (which I consider a virus since you absolutely have to install Qtime and it creates shortcuts everywhere and runs at startup).
Any input is appreciated, I did a quick search on XDA and I couldn't find any relevant topics, or I'm incompetent, one or the other.
TL;DR: Galaxy S I9000 + 2010 Tahoe + USB = not working
Looking at how the SGS presents itself to a host device, I believe that it hides its mass storage device (among others, such as networking and ADB connection) under a hub device rather than on its own as would happen with a typical USB thumb drive. The computer cannot read the past this hub device until the Samsung drivers are installed, upon which the mass storage device is then visible.
I tried hooking my SGS up to a digital photo frame once and the photo frame couldn't read it since it couldn't see a mass storage device. So unless you can somehow install the Samsung drivers onto your truck, I'm afraid you're SOL. At least, until a talented kernel developer here recodes the SGS's USB driver to expose the mass storage device natively.
when you plug the sgs into your truck, do you get the option to connect USB storage?
edit: just noticed you've already tried that.
yeah it might be up to the kernel dev's to do something about it - it would be great if there was an option to make it show up as a giant USB stick!
When I plug my I9000M into my desktop via USB it automatically mounts the 2 SD cards without having to do the windows "search for drivers" and under device management the 2 SD cards show up as portable devices. I think what I will do is remove the external SD card before plugging it in to see if it's confusing the onboard system (in the vehicle) by trying to mount 2 separate SD cards. My apologies for the slack spelling and grammar, I just woke up, I may edit the post later today as well as update on my progress.
Hi guys sorry for stupid question. I have preordered HTC One and coming from SGS3 where samsung didnt offered native UMS mode for file transfer and I had to install stupid 3rd party apk as I cannot install anything on my work station so MTP and PTP didnt work. So the question is, does HTC One have native USB mass storage support for file transfer aka flash drive?
THX
No. By the way what 3rd party app did you use to enable UMS? It might come in handy to HTC One upcoming/users.
are you kid*ing? Again another phone for 600Euro without UMS? Is it JellyBean related?
BTW: I have been using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009 but only for microSD card, so it wont help with internal I suppose...
yes, it is jelly bean related.
UMS went out with ICS and all android devices use MTP as standard.
What OS are you running that it doesn't support MTP? Even my mums years old xp computer supports MTP as long as Windows Media Player is up to date....
Some corporate XPs (at work), so even they support MTP, after SGS3 connected some exclamation (cant remember what exactly) pop up because of restricted administrator rights (winXP wanted to install some drivers) and I only saw folders with unidentified files so totaly useles. But at home win 7 it worked. Only UMS fully work at my work computer. And thats very important to me...
Since JB there is only MTP, no Mass Storage.
But u can easily workaround with USB-Host OTG

Ah, Of course. Used to have that in my old job, but then even USB would not help me there as they had locked out all external devices. nice to know your IT department aren't as bad as mine used to be.
Looks like you'll have to go with that 3rd party app again...

as I know USB on the go is for connecting flash drives, card readers, maybe camera or DVB-T or other client devices to host device (phone) so really didnt think about it to connect phone to computer throught USBotG reduction to PC. I think it wont work...
Hello,
I have a Nexus 7 that is rooted stock ROM w. Timur kernel with OTG + Hub capabilities. OTG + Charging + Hub capabilities seem to all work fine. My problem is that I have a 1TB external hard drive that I connect to the hub and mount via Stickmount that doesn't seem to want to pull in all of my files. I installed the necessary files to ensure that NTFS read+write worked properly, and it does. The drive mounts without an issue, and all of the files show up in File Manager or File Explorer. However, a massive majority of the files aren't showing up in Play Music or PlayerPro, and I'm not entirely sure why that is. I figured that I would just take a decent amount of time for the app to "pull in" and recognize all the files on the 1TB drive, but I gave it about an hour and I'm still not seeing about 90% of my music library (as in, I'm seeing the original 20/200 or so bands that populated into the app, but no more than those after an hour).
1) Would a different app resolve this issue?
2) Would formatting the 1TB drive to FAT32 resolve the issue?
3) Does anyone know offhand why this is happening exactly?
Thanks!
