[Q] need help for custom kernels.

first of all sorry for my bad english
i 've some questions n problems. i 've xperia x8 black n its rooted n xrecovery n cwm both r installed. im using escha arch v3 2.3.7...linuxxperia on stock kernel. but its very slow . i also tried some another custom roms bt same problem with them. performance was very slow. Than i read some topics here on xda and i found that custom kernels will improve the performance.
so i just want to knw
1. how to unlock bootloader and install custom kernels?
2. which custom kernel is better or best?
3. do i need any specific custom rom pre install before installing custom kernel? like as i said im using eshca arch 2.3.7.
4. how can i find my phone model like is it e15i or e15a ?
plz im very upset with its performance . when im using my cell its showing only 30mb or 40mb free ram..
thanx in advance.

1.there are many threads here explaining how to unlock bootloader, so please read a one of them. also as it seems risky for some users think twice.(you might brick your phone) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436924&highlight=bootloader+unlock)
and when it comes to custom roms, some needs custom kernals and some don't. so decide which rom you want based on their features, looks, etc and if the selected rom needs a custom kernal then you have to flash.
2. read user reviews, also there are some big names like LinuxDX, nAa, alfs etc....
3. nope
4.sorry isn't it showing in "About Phone" section on "Settings"? under "Model Number"?
P.S. i used some custom roms too. but back to stock 2.1 because of battery issues. I used "Sony Ericsson Update Service" aka "SEUS" to reinstall stock rom. and there is a app named "Links to SD" which do the same task of "Apps2SD" so you can free up some memory if you use 2.1.
thanx goldbugbee......
Correction: to goldbugbee
3: yes. For some roms you need a specific Rom. Like minicm uses naa kernel. Etc
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
2.The best kernels out,in my opinion,are nAa's and alf's search them....
3.the best way to flash a new kernel is while being on stock rom
Attention! You wont be able to boot to stock rom if you flash a cutom kernel,so load the rom to the phone before you flash the kernel, anda then through cwm blabla...
4.Pull out the battery of your phone it should say somewhere
I hope i helped you

If you want to stick with CM9 you must install a custom kernel. Try, for instance, harsh's kernel. You will find it in the development forum.

You have to flash Harsh Kernel first! Then settings>performance and set your CPU frequence.
Remain on CM9... GB is boring... really...
Thanks button is here↓ !!! just use it

If you seek stability from your rom i suggest you to flash Gingerbread rom because ICS still presents bugs like no hardware acceleration, camera problems and so on. In the development section you'll find a large variety of roms. For what concern the ram, android is designed to optimise the use of ram avaiable so you haven't to think as you're using windows's pc because a situation like yours is normal.

GB Performance problem

Good day friends, I used my phone for about 2 months last day ı downgrade my phone to gb it was stable then ı install some games for example frontline commando temple run2 and launch games games are too slow and laggy ı was nervous and back to XXLQG how I do to get performance GB ? If I use GB few days and test it or continue to use Jelly Bean. Please stop calling me ''flash kernel'', custom roms How I do?
SORRY FOR MY AMATOUR ENGLİSH BECAUSE I AM TURK
In my opinion, Jellybean is much better in Gaming, Memory management and app processing than Gingerbread... So you better use JB with CoCore E 6.2 or 6.8 kernel - this is what I have done and I don't see much lags, etc... If you are more into gaming then try a good Custom ROM or Performance scripts then...

Oh but that will be hard because the phone can't give its "best" performance if you are using stock kernel.. the only way would be to root it and install custom kernel and scripts...
One more thing, if you wish to reclaim your warranty, you can always flash your country's firmware with Odin or just Factory Reset (using your country's firmware) and since that will reset everything to factory default - the root access will be gone and so the sales person can't tell whether you were rooted or not..

Which one are you using now? I am using DULP8 and so far this was the best one for me - so you can give that a try
Just use JB instead of GB. Go with custom ROM such as JB light. Dont forget to use scripts too. As Sami said. You can super charge your stock rom too.
I want to downgrade my phone to GB but İts laggy and slow on games damn it what should I ? I'm going crazy! I do not want to go under the warranty
Why wont you try some custom rom and kernal instead as i said before?

This kind of threads are forbidden on XDA - "best ROM thread".
You can do this: Install CoCore, install NoFrill CPU, change governor to PegasusQ in that app, and IO Scheduler to SIOPLUS or SIO. For ROMs, try and see what suits you best.

Stock GB vs JB

Hello guys I have tried so many custom ROMs with so many bugs and poor battery life. Now I am deciding to flash either Stock GB or JB, So what ROM is better for Multitasking and battery life, Stock JellyBean with Cocore kernel or Stock GingerBread. I know that there are some apps that do not provide support for Gingerbread now and I remember that Jellybean lagged a lot but i never tried JB with Cocore kernel though. So what should I flash?

1) AOSP by JTeam. I'm using it and has good battery backup, but also performance.
2) Sami OS v1.2 + cocore kernel v8.2 = same like aosp.
3) Stock JB Debloated + cocore kernel v8.2 (i recommend UBLPK firmware)
Try the roms which i mentioned above if you didn't yet.
I still think that GB is best in terms of multitasking. And there is cocore kernel for GB version too, but i never tried it. You can check the feedback in the kernel thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1939528 .
Don't forget to always frezee apps which you are not using with the app named Greenify ( search it in google store).
And never install "battery saver" apps or antiviruses. Both eat too much ram and also battery. You better do an tasker profile ( with Tasker app, available in google store) which turn off wifi/data, bluetooth etc. at a specified time or when screen turn off and you get your own battery saver without consuming ram or battery There are many guides on network about Tasker.
Also, try the app SDMaid (available in google store) which can free some space, find duplicates and delete them, optimize database and so on.
If your phone became slow after some time ( especially when install many apps): Try to wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery. It might help i think.
Let me know if you go on GB and what experience you will have.
Good luck !

If I debloat stock JB then it will lag or not? On cocore thread people said to use version r09. Is r09 cocore kernel better than 8.2? How can i debloat. Thanks.

You need to debloat JB and use Greenify app if you want to get rid of lag. I didn't tried cocore r09, but if overclock is not importantly for you, i suggest you to go with cocore 8.2 . If stock jb with cocore doesn't satisfy you, try the other combos which i told you before going to GB.
Download this stock jb from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51898227&postcount=259 . I think it is not debloated, so you debloat it with this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450556 .
Or debloat it manually (you need ROOT -click): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135528 .
Add tags in bottom of page: "xda, galaxy s advance,gti9070,stock gb vs jb" . So,people which are looking for same answers can find this thread more easy.
And don't forget to press thanks button to guys from the links which i gave you
