Have you tried flashing any of the OneClick packages? They should still work since you have a locked bootloader.

No Devo7v, through my roughly 15 hours of internet research I have not come across a 1 click fix. Just when I thought I was getting good and learning how to move around the android system I bricked. I don't mind paying for my mistakes and learning from them, but I do definitely not want to have to purchase a new phone. I bought the active because it was compact with a descent size screen, nice hardware, remote control, hdmi to tv and I liked the waterproof dustproof feature that I never even tried because I don't trust how waterproof this phone really is. I think It is a great phone when up and running.
P.S. I really appreciate your quick knowledgable response.

I suggest choosing which firmware you would like to flash from the i537 Firmware Thread, download it, and flash it with Odin. If you're currently on ML2, your only option is to reflash ML2 since the ML2 bootloader will not allow you to downgrade to any other version. Before you do anything I would do a little research on Odin so you understand how it works. Far and away, most people that have bricked their phones did it by using Odin incorrectly.

Yes you are most likely correct. I just might be trying to read the wrong software from sd. The times I've tried I get authorization errors.

I will definitely read up on odin. My phone is currently at 2nd local cell repair store this week. I called them to have it ready for pick up if they cant fix it today, which I have my doubts. They usually are just phone salespeople that can do a typical flash or change a screen. So this evening or tomorrow morning I will give your recommendation a shot. And when I do and my phone is back up and running I will gladly donate funds to your site or directly to you. I will shoot you a pm tomorrow to touch base.....I should have went this route before I tried these useless cell phone stores around here. I'm sure this post will help many others too....

You don't need to worry about donating anything, I actually have never accepted donations. If you want to send some money, please send it to a charity you feel is worthwhile. If you really want to pay me back, please read as much as you can on everything and try to help others out when they ask questions or need help. The S4 Active is a small community, so we need as many people contributing to the forums as possible.
If you run into trouble with Odin or anything, let me know.

Thank you so much, like I expected repair store was unable to fix my phone. I took it home and was up and running in 5 minutes with the 1 click fix.
Your the man......I am now researching uprading to 4.3.. I am still however having this issue of apps not working after moving them to sd card....Are there any app to sd apps you prefer over others, I'm not sure where the issue is arising from.

Flashing 4.3 isn't that much harder then flashing the one-click, you just need to read and make sure you put things in the right spot.
As for apps top SD, I don't move my apps so I really can't give you much advice.

[Q] Super Bricked Gnote Revived But Lost Memory

Hello Dear friends,
This is Alvina Snow, a nooby nooby noob girl, who once liked to play with phones and would make fun of her buddies, carrying the stereo-typed GB versions on thier Note. I am no more interested in flashing Roms and not because i blame developers. They have always been great in thier job and i owe them for their coolest roms, but i blame myself and my hastiness in everything. Cutting the crap, let me come to the point.....
Last night, tired of the mediocre looks of Official ICS, i downloaded Paranoid Android 0.4a along with goodies and following the instructions, I opened Odin to downgrade to GB so i can install PA 0.4a safely. To my surprise, once the GB Rom installed successfully, it got stuck at bootloader, i rebooted it a few times, then i went to recovery and reset factory/ format, wiped cache and rebooted. Note stuck this time on the first screen. :fingers-crossed:
Presuming that Odin install may have been faulty, i redid the Odin method and this time, the install stuck at "factoryfs.rfs". From then on, i tried for hours to make it happen, swapped roms, used kernels, wiped everything... and ultimately i got a nice super brick on my hands. the notorious mobile-cum-triangle-cum-PC sign, asking me to use recovery through kies.
researched XDA all night and finally landed on Dr. Forest's "Easy guide for repartition workaround to fix super-brick Note"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26285877&postcount=12
Did everything as directed. I used "standard 16 GB pit" and stable GB rom to resurrect my Note and we both came to life to my surprise, only to discover that now i have an 8.24 GB emmc space available, instead of previously held 11.4 GB something. :victory:
I have been praying for Dr. Forest and all esteemed developers and i will always be thankful to them. My questions to my learned seniors is that:-
- Is there any method, adopting which the missing 3 GB should be regained?
- Will I ever be able to regain the missing 3GB space?
- Having this notion in mind that now i have caged 3 GB of voracious malfunctioning space in my emmc, should i expect any further stability issues after revival of Note or it should work just fine.
Once again hats off to Dr. Forest and all other developers for thier compassionate assistance for us noobs. My thanks in advance for help.

Thanks for the kind words which is a lovely reward to the people who contribute time and knowledge to the guides to help revive brick G-Note, including me :victory:!
I will try to answer some of the questions:
1- So far there has not been a known method to fix the faulty areas in the partition caused by the buggy ICS kernel yet. There seem to be some encouraging news from some senior developers who are in contact with Samsung developers and it is hope that there may be a Jtag method release. If the method is available then your device can also benefit from it since the re-partition is fully reversible. Let's just hope they can make it.
2- Will the phone be stable or not: for most people it seems to work well and stable. For some people who have a large damaged areas of space in former sdcard region due to the bug, there seem to be some problem of unstable system. In those cases it is likely that there are still some faulty blocks somewhere in cache or data partitions that has not been eliminated yet.
3- If you are comfortable with using adb method you can try again to explore the lost areas and in some cases can regain 1 or 2 GB of space. There is a free app call "eMMC Brickbug Check" from Gplay which can help to scan the whole chip and report the beginning of faulty blocks. Then you can use parted to make partitions in different areas within the lost range (from 281mb to 3322mb) while try to avoid the faulty blocks.
Hope it helps in some ways. cheers.
Thanx a Ton
Ex expected you came to my rescue and encouragement Sir Forest. . Thanx a million for taking time to answer my queries. I hope that Samsung will soon come up with some remedy. As advised by you, i will also try to use the regain method. Though am not sure
Thank you

Forest Sir, as you advised i used eMMC Brickbug Check", which says that:
Phone Model: Samsung GT-N7000
eMMC Chip
type: VYLOOM
Date: 03/2012
CID:15010056594c30304d19b9c9013c3fdd
FwRev: 0x19
Brick Bug? : YES. Insane Chip
Now when i check memory.. it started checking and showing something similar to seconds counting and the phone restarted after reaching 671 seconds..
Now pardon my noobness, but i am not clear if how am i gonna get help in determing defected areas out of this.
Help please. God Bless You

No, not yet all. In this case it does not allow to see where the faulty block is.
If you are confident and like to play again with adb then can explore using parted to create new partitions again in different ranges, with part 9 starting from 1174mb, and then move up by 300mb each time until parted is happy with the new area for part 9. with that approach you will probably save more space.
Otherwise, a external sdcard can also compensate more than all the loss of space in the internal sdcard . cheers.
Thank You Sir Forest for ur guidance. I think its time to get me a 32 GB micro sd
Amen !! I only use my internal SD to hold my Mods and ROMs, all the precious stuff is on the external, Just incase.

If you get that 32GB micro-SD, you can use it as your phone's internal SD card with an easy vold.fstab swap. Your reduced capacity internal storage would then become your "external" SD card.

My Options.
Considering my options, I got few questions in my mind...
a. My Note is International version and purchased from KSA, whereas I am in Pakistan now. So can I claim my warranty here with Samsung Service Centres?
b. If yes, I obviously need to reset my binary counter, which is 4 or 5 at the moment. I also need to restore my Note to stock rom and stock kernel. Is there any safe way except Angelo's kernel and USB Jig to reset binary counter? i was looking for "Triangle Away" in the market, but i somehow couldn't find it.
Help my seniors please. If with your help I can go to Samsung and my warranty is validated, all credits with be to you guys for saving me from big troubles. To be honest I had been a poor kinda girl and managed barely to pull off my Note. I can't afford to manage a board replace night now
Hi: I do not have answers to all questions, but for triangleaway.

Thank You Sir, Forest. Hope this would work
Of you've repartitioned the note that will void your warranty I imagine.
What you really need is an untouched superbrick as Samsung won't be able to tell if it has any hits on the binary counter or if its ever been rooted or custom firmwares flashed...
So brick it again if you are able to claim warranty in Pakistan.

So, bricking its again seems a potentially dangerous job :fingers-crossed: besides what do you suggest, i should tell Samsung guys, how it happened. Coz i believe they are gonna ask me if how come the phone went dead and i have also learnt that they have ways to check binary count, even if the phone is Superbricked. I am in a fix, coz after investing 500$ on a Note, living without a 3GB phone space is pain in the a*s.
Help please

The brick has been acknowledged by samsung, they've admitted it can happen on fully stock uprooted firmware update over kies. That's all you say, you were updating through kies, it failed and you're bricked. They can't check binary count under super brick because it's not possible to enter download mode therefor impossible to get any data or connection off the device. Simple.

Hello there

Hi all
I am Completely new at this
I just got an xperia zr as a gift and want to get it rooted
I tried searching the forums but it didn't help
I recently updated my phone via pc companion to 4.4.4
An acquaintance told me that if I use towel root, the phone will root
But that hasn't helped either
I've been searching all day for a solution
I am willing to pay the price to get my phone rooted, get rid of bloatware, move apps to sd
Any help will be highly appreciated
Regards
1. Go to Xperia ZR General forum.
2. Look carefully and see a thread named - "[GUIDE] How to root 10.5.1.A.0.283 [Locked Bootloader]". One of the top threads.
That's it. No search needed, just look. Definitely not "searching all day".

You didn't come across this, right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/help/xperia-zr-rootin-problem-t2877961
I went through the thread but am still not able to understand how it works
I downloaded doodlers easy rooting tool kit
I extracted adb files
And then runme_win.bat
The cmd.exe windows days the system can't find path specified
I've just checked the thread (and the actual thread that it points to), and in no place there was any need to run anything named runme_win.bat.
It has been a common saying across XDA-Dev board for a while, and it still stands true:
If you don't understand what you're going to do with the phone - don't do it. Read enough information until you do, and if you still don't - then leave your phone alone. Otherwise chances are you'll end up with a brick and having to pay someone else to get it back to working condition.
That's so true jack but you know Curious mind and all...
Just wanted to get my phone rooted
That's the reason why I mentioned earlier that I might as well pay some one to do it for me rather than trial and error methods
For people like me towel root was the best
But you are 1000s miles away can you suggest if since I've can root it for me
After all we need technical genius like you for your expertise
Any help would be great

Here in XDA, your best bet is yourself. Anyways, rooting 4.4.4 involves FLASHING something, if you are scared of this, just downgrade to 4.4.2 and use towelroot. (Relax, FTF errors are scarce, but you will get covered in warrenty.):good:

1. Install flashtool and Z drivers
2. Get a 230 FW and a 283 FW, put those in \flashtool\firmwares\
2B. Only do this if you already on 283 build, flash 230 FW on flashmde, only include KERNEL.
3. Power on. You will notice bugs, ignore them.
4. Use towelroot.
5. Flash 283 FW, again only include KERNEL.
6. Power on, the bugs are now gone.
7. install superSU/superUser and update binaries.
Done and Enjoy. to get more info and (most importantly, RATIONALE), read http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2873841:good:

It is imperative that you go thru the entire process following the exact steps. If you encounter just ANY problem (although highly unlikely) flash the 230 FW in FULL, (including WIPE everything), And start again.:good:

How long does it take to get 5.1.1 OTA?

AT&T released 5.1.1 a couple of weeks ago, and I still haven't gotten a notification on my phone that the OTA update is ready to be installed. I check manually every day, too, but every time it says that the "update was interrupted" and I have to wait 24 hours. Is that because the server is busy and I'll just have to wait patiently as the update is being rolled out to AT&T phones over the air? (Yes, I know I can simply move the date forward one day and try again manually, but I don't want to inadvertently mess up the automatic OTA checks.)
I would really like to install 5.1.1 on my S6. Is there a way to speed things up? Is there an official AT&T image I can install through Kies or some other way?
Thanks!
--Ron
Make sure you have at least 4GB of storage free when you try the update. I have heard of this sort of thing happening if you don't have enough free space.
I had read that, too, but I have a 64 GB S6, with some 30 GB free, so that's not an issue.
Same here
i'm not sure why i'm not getting the update...i have an unlocked galaxy S6 at&t version.
i'm living outside the US so i'm using another sim card. Is that the problem?
I also have an unlocked AT&T S6, but I live in the U.S., so that shouldn't be an issue either.
--Ron
I know the feeling. I have been checking daily too and finally got it late last night.
Does root effect updating from SmartSwitch?
Still nothing (10/13). Is anyone else seeing the same thing? Should it really take weeks and weeks before we get this update after it's been officially released?

Don't know what to tell you other than the basics.. The correct file is available in the android developnent portion of this forum.. Download make sure you put all four files in proper slots in odin and hit start.. Should wipe everything and complete unless you using the wrong model of s6 or the wrong files in the slots.. Honestly nothing is worth losing root though in my opinion.. I only want 5.1.1 so I can use. Xposed but without the ability to root the update is meaningless to me and really more of a regression to me.. But no it won't trip knox

I'm in the OF4 version and have not received the update by air today. I restored the phone several times to see if I update and nothing appears. I searched around in various forums and can not find the solution
I bought the galaxy used and I'm not sure if the USB cable is original. Anyway, I've tried other cables and various USB ports. The last thing I did was to restore the PC and start from scratch ... it still did not work for me
I am very good at following tutorials. I have not damaged a phone or electronic equipment and has not gone bad in the process, I always get everything right, but it is the first time you see me in this situation where I can not find the solution
I think it's the cable. Anyway, where I live not sell the USB cable separately. Buy by amazon and I'm waiting for it to arrive, but if not the USB cable and anyone knows anything please help me
Make sure you. Put phone in download mode. I overlooked that when I was a noob
Finally bit the bullet and just flashed the 5.1.1 update using Odin. Very smooth process. My phone is running 5.1.1 now. And with Google automatic backup, it didn't even take that long to set up my phone again.

New N6 shipped with developer build?

Just bought a brand new N6 and its not downloading any ota's, still on 5.0. The build is LNX07M which is a developer build and apparently will not download any ota's. Has anyone heard of this? Did a quick Google search and there is hardly anything about this build.
I have no access to a computer, am I stuck on this build and 5.0?

This is my first nexus device and the last phone I rooted/flashed was the G1 way back in the day.

because its not "proper", and normally isnt used properly. but ill explaine to you the proper way. you can try an app called kingsroot. you csnt get it at the play store, youll have to search google for it. after you install it, then run it, youll have root. but, youre not done yet. you will want to download the latest twrp recovery for the nexus 6 with your phone and keep it there. then you will unstall flashify from the play store. you will now use flashify to flash the twrp recovery. now, last thing, to get your bootloader unlocked. you will install any bootloader unlock apps, like boot unlocker or similar(that might delete everything from your phone), then youre done. ive never tried this on a nexus, but have on other devices, just so you know.

If you can get to a computer, download this: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/shamu-mra58k-factory-5b07088c.tgz
It's the Marshmallow (6.0) factory image for the Nexus 6. Run the batch file inside and it'll flash your phone. Note that this WILL wipe it.
Here's the actual Google-supplied information on it: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en

It'll be fine. It's the complete system image, so it doesn't matter what you're on currently. Note that you will have to install all sorts of extra crap to get the Android SDK installed and working and the proper drivers, but it's not that hard, just gigs of downloads when everything is all said and done.
Like I said, it WILL wipe your phone completely.

you can unlock your bootloader with "fastboot oem unlock"
then fastboot flash twrp recovery
then flash a custom kernel wiyh the latest supersu in your new recovery.
and then boot up with root, an unlocked bootloader, and a custom recovery

Not worried about wiping the phone, I've literally only had it for a few hours and nothing is loaded on it.
Would be possible to just install an ota to get me on the right upgrade path? I'm just trying to do the quickest and easiest method possible.

If it's not grabbing an OTA, not sure what else you can do, short of downloading all the OTAs and flashing via recovery. But no guarantee that'll work as you're on a development build... There probably isn't an OTA to go from your development build to a release build.

Dude, come on... I know this is the Q&A section, and were supposed to be nicer here... But this lazyness is bull****.
You act like using a computer is impossible, then as soon as it takes some work.... You can get at one the next day?
Stop expecting to be spoon fed and at least try to learn something fist. There are a TON of write ups on how to do this. You spend how much money on a phone, and now you don't care to educate yourself on it?
Instead of expecting other to do all the work for you, read through the stickied index thread in the general section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/nexus-6-index-thread-t3229412
It has a newbie guide that literally holds your hand through the whole process. Post 2 has info on "how to flash factory images", use method 2 as method 1 in that thread will not work with the MM factory image.
Nice people have already spend a lot of time and effort documenting these things for you, as they are common questions. People like Simms and the other posters in this thread answer questions and offer support for free out of the kindness of their heart... Don't create extra work for them by ignoring all the effort already put out by other members, expecting it all to be regurgitated to you.

Fastboot, as described in the threads mentioned above, will completely overwrite the pertinent partitions, regardless of what was there... dev build or not. No need to flash and apply countless incremental updates. Google provides not only full system images, but the information to use them on their web page...

I linked him to that already. No need to be a **** about it. He was looking for an easy way to do it now, when he doesn't have a computer. **** got crazy, so he asked if it would be easier with a computer, which the answer is yes.
Wouldn't you be excited as **** if you had a new phone? Wouldn't you want to get it up and running as quickly as possible? Well... now he's gotta wait until he has a computer. Obviously installing an OTA and doing the incremental updates would be easier, which is what he was looking for. Since that's not an option, we laid out other ways to go about doing it. So he's getting to a computer tomorrow.

If you do plan on modding it/rooting it/romming it in the future, DEFINITELY unlock your bootloader before you set up the phone or that'll wipe it, too.

He googled his build number and didn't get many hits on it. So he's asking if there's a way to get it up and running tonight without a computer. Seems valid to me. You jump into the thread offering no help at all and start talking **** about the guy. That's the exact opposite of what you're saying you strive to do. I don't get it.

At that point its a legitamate question. This is a very different situation that is not well covered here, and requires a unique solution not many would come up with.
But "I absolutely have no computer nor laptop access" is pretty different then "I can access one TOMORROW. Sheesh, having something 1 day away is pretty far from it not being a possibility.
And I think you would agree it would be a significantly better idea to wait that day then to proceed with the method you gave (not that it was bad of you to give it... but you tried to differentiate and he held out to avoid being told to do it the hard way)

We are told time and time again that their are no bad questions. Truth is there are more bad questions then good ones.
Him asking about a build that provides few google hits is very legitimate.
Him asking about doing it without a computer because he doesn't have one is legitimate.
It only becomes an issue when he doesn't get the answer he wants, and all of a sudden he does have computer access.
And given that he is going to proceed in a computer... It becomes nothing more then "How do I update my phone?", which is VERY well documented.
I not only gave him the link to the information he needed, AND even corrected the information pointing out that the flashall script fails and that he would need to use the second method listed in the instructions I linked him to (since I know he will likely have limited time to fail and figure out whats wrong)
"That's the exact opposite of what you're saying you strive to do. I don't get it."
Then let me explain.
Would you skip your homework, ignore your textbook, then show up to class asking your teacher to explain it again? We are here to help... but how or why should I care more about it then he does? With no attempt made to learn, how much should I care to teach him?
Its a pretty big **** you to all those who have spend countless hours documenting this stuff to help new people to ignore their work and tell someone to do it again.

AT&T N900A, tried to upload Root de la Vega, failed. Cannot boot.

I'll try to make this long story short. My experience level is pretty low. I've rooted and flashed firmware to a few devices in the past, but Odin worked well and I was always following instructions.
I have a n AT&T Note 3 N900A running 5.0
I accidentally deleted a folder of photos, and needed to root my device in order to attempt recovering the lost photos.
I Tried King root, kingoroot, etc... and failed to root the device.
Then used the N900AUCUBMI1_OneClickBin which Fails it says "SW REV CHECK FAIL: [sbl1]Fused 2 > Binary 1
then i tried Odin and root De la Vega which also failed
Now my device is stuck at "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I download latest Kies... it doesnt support my device....
How can I fix this? Is there a rooted rom I can flash to it? I really just want to extract the deleted photos as the device is aging, but now I'm in over my head.
If this isnt something I can do myself, I'm willing to pay monies if there is someone reputable with references that can fix this for me.
Update
I was able to use Odin 3.09 to install CSC_ATT_N900AATTDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
the phone is now able to boot and works fine but.... it is completely wiped.
I had saved most of my stuff odd the phone, but I still need to root and run data recovery on deleted photos
still needing help, please. thank you.
dale.

I've tried several recovery software.
My entire DCIM filder from the device is gone. I'm assuming because I reflashed that I wrote over it? I'm surprised that 1500 pictures wouldnt be able to be found in the device.... Maybe theres solution I dont know about that can do a much deeper scan?
I'm so upset that I lost everything... Didnt realize it wasnt on the SD card... years of military and family photos gone...
I'd appreciate any help at this point. Does someone have access to forensic tools that can recover the lost data?

I've given up on recovery tools and want to make a .raw image of the internal storage that I can convert into a disc image which I can scan. I'm not really understanding how to do the directions at http://www.asoftech.com/articles/android-enable-mass-storage.html
Update:
I learned a LOT in the last few days.
I went and bought a 64gb SD card and am using Cygwin with the command dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/extSdCard/system.img
I am not certain if this will strip the entire 32gb internal memory and put it on SD card, but we will find out. It is currently at 3gb and growing fast.

Update file is now 8gb,. That must mean it is reading the entire internal memory. I'm doubting I can recover my files, but this has still been an amazing learning process. Will still need to convert the RAW file to a VHD.
I'm not certain I came to the right forums as nobody seems interested in responding. Maybe my problem is too low level for this place?

I successfuly dumped internal memory to an IMG file on the external SD. Scanned teh data but did not find waht I wanted.
I imagine that if I could get direct access to the internal memory I could recover the data, but that is not hardware or software possible anymore, so I learned once again to back up important things.
Thanks everyone for the helpful responses.
Now to decide what ROM to flash...
Any layman that comes across this thread in the future and wants to save deleted files off your phone, my advice to you is: Take the battery out of your phone and stop using it immediately. If you don't have root access, send it to a professional data recovery service and explain the type of files you lost.
