I bought many unlock code for ATT NOTE 3 from one of my trusted site, which unlocked many of my NOTE 3s and iPhones in the past months.
However, this time, the situation is I got the code from the them, followed same precedure, entered unlock code, and the phone just showing "network unlock unsuccessful" .
the phone is brand new bought from ATT store, and double checked IMEI, which matches box, phone, and *#06#'s IMEI. so the IMEI is correct, the website checked the unlock code is correct also.
but I just can't get my phone to unlock this time, always showing "network unlock unsuccessful" with the correct unlock code. anyone has any clue and why?
PS:have tried following method, NONE of them worked, either not working method or can't find UMTS option in my note 3.

As far as I know, you have to actually activate the Note 3 on its original network first. If you have an AT&T SIM, pop it in and turn the phone on.
Then switch SIM, cards and input your unlock code.
Cellunlocker.net will tell you that the device has to be activated on its original network first.

plugged in ATT sim card, powered on the phone, reset the phone, go through all the activation screen, made a phone call, power off the phone, switched to tmobile card, powered on, enter unlock code, NETWORK UNLOCK UNSUCCESSFUL.
Let them know. Ask for another one. If they don't, make a video of it and get a refund.

If one has the correct code, it should just work, there shouldn't be any need to do anything else other than enter the code.

How did you get it, filled that request form or called them? I tried to request it online but it says device not eligible or something similar.

Works Great on Rugby Pro too!
Was having an issue with the Rugby taking a code but this worked great!

I have been looking around the internet on how to unlock this tab (both English and Japanese websites) and I have came across this:
http://berorin.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1489/
According to this blogger, he unlocked his tablet by doing the following:
1. (本来使えないキャリアのSIMが刺さってる状態で)*7465625*638*#に電話
2. 使いたいSIMのMCC/MNCを入力(SBなら440/20)
3. ControlKeyに97286414
4. Unlock Saccessfull!的なメッセージが出たら再起動
5. 刺してあったSIMが認識される=アンロック完了
Translation
1. (With another carrier's sim card in the tablet) dial *7465625*638*#
2. Enter the sim card's MCC/MNC (For softbank it would be 440/20)
3. Enter 97286414 on the control key blank
4. A message like "Unlock Successful" would appear, and then reboot
5. The sim card's provider will be recognized (on your tablet) = unlock complete
SIMロック限定解除を解く場合。
To solve the limited sim unlock problem:
次に「#7465625*638*CODE#」をコール。
表示されるNetwork LockのEnter Network Lock Control Key欄に「97286414」を入力⇒OKをタップ。するとUnlock Successlyと表示される。
Next, dial #7465625*638*CODE#
The Network Lock screen with a Enter Network Control Key column should appear. Enter 97286414 then press/click ok. Once you do so, a message stating "Unlock success" should appear.
Now, I have the Overcome rom on my tab and tried this. It did not work. However, I am curious if someone with the original stock rom (Docomo) can successfully unlock this.
I do have network lock, network subset lock, SP lock, CP lock, and Data lock off but for some reason I still get the "Enter Network Control Key" message when I boot it up with another sim card.

- If you use hexedit app, for clearer instruction do the procedure below :
1. Root the Tab, z4root.1.3.0.apk: http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=833953
2. Install Super Manager as your root explorer. Enable root function in settings.
3. Backup /efs folder with Super Manager to your SDcard to be sure.
4. Open a copy of nv_data.bin in a hex editor. I installed HexEditor. Change 00181462 to 00 (note edit point is currently 01. It is the first two digits after seven "ff").
5. Open /efs with Super Manager set to Mount R/W and your modified nv_data.bin in the Root Explorer clipboard.
6. Rename or delete nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 and paste nv_data.bin (you have the originals in your /efs backup).
7. Power off the tab.
8. Insert new sim carrier.
9. Power on.

This method did work for the Docomo version of the galaxy tab. Many have attempted this and still had the network lock screen popping up.

I assume you mean did not work?
I also have a Docomo tab and am moving back to Australia after some time living in Japan and was hoping to unlock my tab. It's disappointing that the SC01C uses a different lock mechanism. I guess one of these little SIM boards that stick to your SIM to fool the device into thinking they are still on a different carrier might be an option. Selling it has become another option for me - I'm really annoyed that Samsung released this thing with all sorts of little arbitrary differences between different reasons creating lots of confusion about which roms can be run. Disappointing.
By the way I returned my SC01C back to stock, but I don't have a Docomo SIM so I have been using it WIFI only. I might see if I have another carrier SIM to try...
EDIT: I might not be much help as it appears my Docomo Tab is actually unlocked already. When I inserted an Australia Vodafone SIM in it accepted it but said 'No Service'. I would have thought it would have told me 'Invalid SIM' or words to that effect. Secondly, I tried the Softbank SIM from my HTC Desire in my Tab and it said 'Not registered on network', rather than warned me about the SIM. Is there any option I need to go to in order to test it further? I used my tab exclusively as a WIFI tab so far...
@zetsurin,
Have you tried changing the nv_data.bin on the /efs folder?
Rotohammer posted it works on all GSM Galaxy Tab.
Just be sure to back-up your original files, so you can revert it back.

Success!!
Ok, I decided to try the codes and I am roaming on Softbank with an Australian Vodafone SIM using my SC01C Docomo tab!
Firstly, to summarise everything the following Samsung codes are involved:
*#7465625# = Check the locks
*7465625*638*Code# = Enables Network lock
#7465625*638*Code# = Disables Network lock
The whole 'Code' business confused me. So basically you enter it like this:
Firstly, I entered *7465625*638*#. If I enter '505/03' (Vodafone Aus) and then 97286414 for the control key, I actually get a 'Lock successful' message, and in fact I saw some other Japanese blogs mention this. This is because that's a lock request, rather then unlock request. So I decided to enter the lock check (first code) and it confirmed I have a lock on.
Then I entered #7465625*638*#. It requests the control code only this time. So I then entered 97286414 and bingo I see the 'unlock successful' message and then the lock check confirmed my tab is unlocked.
Finally I selected Softbank for roaming with my SIM and it worked perfectly. I believe this is the correct way to unlock the SC01C we have as it doesn't have the same format nv_data (I've seen several sources say this actually).
thanks!!!
i was able to unlock it.
problem is, im not able to register to either docomo or softbank. i wonder what's wrong since i can do this on my galaxy s.
Thanks Everyone, unlock successful!

This really worked..... Thank you so much!!
works, but ony until restart
Hi!
This is the first method, that really works with my docomo galaxy tab. Thank you verry much, for the manual!
Unfortunately it only works until I restart the phone. After restart it asks for network lock key again, and I have to do the whole process from the begining.
Is there any way to make this unlock permanent?
(I also tried several other methods, like haxediting, etc,)
I have an ATT SGT with Overcome ROM, and just unlocked my TAB with an app I got on the Market called Galaxy Tab Unlock. Worked without a hitch. I had no unlock code or anything from ATT. I have used different SIM's and they all work. Also have data working with non ATT SIM's after putting in the APN's. The app, once installed, is called Galaxy S Unlock, but works with my TAB. Painless!
Yes, it worked until i reboot the tab.
no solution for this issue yet?

1st of all thank you for replaying in my thread .
with regarding of the SIM card i have done that i treed using our network SIM card (Mobaily) and nothing happen .
I treed this :
A)-
Turn your phone with a non accepted simcard, and then turn off the wifi.
Now go the dial screen and then type *2767*3855# on phone keypad. (CAUTION! This will reformat all your data!)
1. After phone restarts, type the Unfreeze code ( ) when prompted to enter "SIM network unlock PIN" or "Enter Network Lock Control Key" screen and hit unlock button.
It will say "unsuccessful" again, don't worry!
2.. Type the Unlock code ( ) and hit Unlock button.
3. Your phone should now give you the message "Network Lock Successful"
Now your phone is successfully unlocked!
If there is still an error please press *#06# and check the IMEI number
B)-
Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
Q: is it poseble to get dial screen on this tab ?
thanks .
With my 8.9 LTE, I power up with a sim card, and it asks me for the network lock right away. Is that the same as the sim lock? I've never unlocked a tablet before, but I'm assuming it is. Tablets surely can't have the multiple lock menus a cellphone has. Network/Sim/SPCK etc.
To trigger the unlock menu, you need to insert a NON-compatible sim card. So if your tablet is a MOBAILY one, inserting a sim of that company won't help you.
Put in ANY other sim to get the menu to pop up.
Good Luck!
btw, those instructions are for a phone., hence the dialer. I'm willing to bet it 99.9999%. AFAIK, there's no way to get a phone dialer menu on a tablet lol. (watch me be proven wrong ha)
Alright boys and girls I've been working on this for a week now and I think I've finally got the fix for this...
UPDATE: WORKING 3G DATA AND MMS WITH ICS!
So for you GB lovers here's the way you get solid 3G Data and MMS with GB .905
You will need:
1.) Motorola Droid Bionic phone
2.) Your MDN/MIN information from Page Plus, use this link to have this information sent to your email:
2.) The required software support package:
Mirror1 or Mirror2
3.) 1 Blank 4G LTE Verizon Sim Card (Amazon, Ebay, or just go to a couple Verizon stores, eventually an employee will sell you one without to many questions...)
4.) 1 3G TMobile or ATT Sim Card, doesn't have to be activated just something you have laying around will work. As of the time of this write up I haven't tested with 4G cards but I imagine this method wouldn't work.
5.) Time, Patience, and a few prayers to the Wireless Gods might be a good idea...
PLEASE PLEASE MAKE SURE PHONE IS 100% CHARGE AND DATA IS BACKED UP BEFORE PROCEEDING
ALL DATA ON PHONE WILL BE ERASED, SD SHOULD NOT BE ERASED BUT BACK IT UP JUST IN CASE.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE!
STEP 1: Software Provision your Phone
Start by uninstalling any older Motorola drivers you have installed, then download the newest driver package from Motorola -
Install RSD Lite
Now turn phone off, and insert 4G LTE Verizon Sim
Start up phone in "AP FastBoot Flash Mode"
Do this by holding both volume keys while pressing the power button on the phone. Once your presented with a menu use the "vol down" key to move to your selection then press the "vol up" key to select that option.
Start RSD Lite and select .905 Firmware and Restore
After flash is complete, start phone in Recovery Mode
Do this by holding both volume keys while pressing the power button on the phone. Once your presented with a menu use the "vol down" key to move to your selection then press the "vol up" key to select that option.
Once you see the Android Icon with the Exclamation mark, press both volume keys at the same time. That will bring you to a menu, from there select "Wipe Cache", after that is finished, select "Format/Wipe Factory Defaults" as soon as that finishes select "Reboot Phone"
Power off phone, and boot into "BP Tools"
Do this by holding both volume keys while pressing the power button on the phone. Once your presented with a menu use the "vol down" key to move to your selection then press the "vol up" key to select that option.
Once phone is completely booted you should be presented with a activation screen, ignore that for now, and run the "DFS CDMA Tool" program.
Once your in DFS make sure you phone is plugged in, and in "BP Tools" mode otherwise you won't see any ports.
Now select the phone port from the list, should look like the one in the image below...
Click the SPC Button, Log Window should have result like image below
Now click the "Programming" tab and then the "General" tab. Change the "Ruim Config" to NV_ONLY and click "Write"
After that, click the "Data" tab, and enter your 10 digit phone number in place of the 5551234 numbers
Under the "Mode:" section, change the "HDR SCP force AT config:" option to "RevA_MFPA", click "Write"
Your end results should look EXACTLY as mine do in the image below...
Close DFS after your sure you have written all the settings above to your phone.
Now open CDMA Workshop and connect to your phone, click the "Nam" tab, click on the "Load" button on the bottom of the page, browse to the file provided in the software package, "Bionic_PagePlus_NAM1.txt" and click "Write"
Click on the "Other" tab, under the "PRL" section click the "Write" button, browse to the "PagePlus_51720.prl" and click "OK"
If CDMA Workshop responds with Success then your done with the initial programming of your phone...
STEP 2: PHONE PROGRAMMING
Now Power Off your phone and then power back on normally, at this point you should have completed the steps above and have the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Sim Card in the phone
Click the Next button to setup your phone, you should get a screen similar to the one below..
Touch the "Emergency Call" button and enter *228 and press Send, you will probably get a error screen regarding your sim card, IGNORE this message, and continue to click "Emergency Call" and then entering *228 and pressing Send
You may have to dial the *228 multiple times in order for it to start activation, eventually it will call out and you will get a screen like this one:
*If you cannot get your phone to program after multiple attempts then try this:
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Scroll down to "Set preferred network type:" select "CDMA Only"
Touch "Turn off radio" wait until you have to wireless connection and then touch "Turn on radio"
Now try programming again with *228
Touch "Speaker" or wait until the automated system answers and when prompted press "1" and wait, be patient this may take a minute.
Your phone is now receiving your programming information from Page Plus...
Once this process is complete and your phone is now activated, Dial ##PROGRAM and touch Send
When prompted enter "000000" for your SPC Password
Now scroll the the bottom of the page, touch "14 LTE test settings"
Touch "SIM type", select "3G test UICC"
Touch "LTE bppanic", select "Disable"
Touch "Disable Class1 APN"
Touch "Disable Class2 APN"
Touch "Enable Class3 APN"
Touch "LTE Movement Detection" select "Disabled"
Now go back one screen and touch "06 Test Mode"
Touch "Next", "Next", Touch "Network mode", select "CDMA Auto PRL", back out of programming menu to home screen.
So far so good, were almost there... Now power off your phone
Insert ATT or TMobile 3G Sim Card, and power on phone
If you have followed all the steps exactly you should now have working 3G Data and MMS on Page Plus with your Bionic. It should remain stable through reboots without any issues, I used mine like this for over a month.
Below are the steps for working 3G Data and MMS using ICS .247
!WARNING - IF YOU UPDATE TO ICS LEAK .247 YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK TO .905 OR GINGERBREAD! YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE IF YOU TRY!
!WARNING! - IF YOU UPDATE TO ICS LEAK .232 AT THIS POINT YOUR MMS WILL NO LONGER WORK, YOU WILL HAVE DATA BUT NO MMS
I will update this post with more instructions and pictures in 24-48 hours for ICS .247 with working 3G Data and MMS...
For ICS .247 visit the "House of Bionic" website and download the leaked ICS .247, follow their instructions exactly and read ALL warnings
Once you have flashed to the latest leak, follow the DFS steps above, and flash the "57120" Page Plus PRL using CDMA Workshop
Reboot Phone and touch the "Emergency Dialer" button, Dial *228 until you get to the activation screen, wait until prompted and press "1", wait for you phone to be programmed.
That's it, your done, no other steps should be needed to have working 3G Data and MMS with the ICS leak .247
!WARNING! - THIS DOES NOT AND WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY ICS LEAK PRIOR TO .247!
Alright hopefully you now have your Bionic working on Page Plus with full data and mms.. Enjoy!
UPDATE:
Apparently XDA requires me to have a minimum of 10 posts before I can add outside links to my post, I have a version completed with external links so maybe a moderator can waive this or if someone else wan'ts to post it just PM me and you can post it...
.905 Gingerbread
3G Data and MMS holding steady through multiple restarts, no extra steps have been required..
.232 ICS
3G Data works but no MMS, I do not think you can have working MMS with .232 I believe it is just a bug...
.247 ICS
3G Data and MMS working perfectly, if you follow steps above don't change anything under the ##PROGRAM menu, leave everything on 4G settings just like default.
Only thing you have to do is flash a Page Plus prl and *228 for initial programming and everything works great!
Will be glad to see this updated with more details.
I updated my phone to .905, redid everything, had PP reactivate it, but cannot get it activated OTA.
EDIT - I factory reset the phone, the activation screen came up, and it seems to be working! only have 1x at the moment, but hey, I'm happy.
will be glad to see your steps for 3G and ICS
Anyone know where I can get a 3g sim card locally? I see some on ebay but if possible I would like to get this working today. Also, do I need the 3g sim card if I'm on ICS .247?

Actually not necessary to do all these steps and is very very easy with the official .246 ROM to have working everything including 3G. Check my post.

basically what i mean is that im going to update the Bionic to ICS...
and im using the phone for business w/ page pluss... so i wont even have data on the phone... so im wondering what i an do with Stock ICS....
After that, click the "Data" tab, and enter your 10 digit phone number in place of the 5551234 numbers
Under the "Mode:" section, change the "HDR SCP force AT config:" option to "RevA_MFPA", click "Write"
can someone tell me what box the 5551234 numbers are in? They are all blank for me.
question on activation
thanx a lot appreciate the post
Those are your MDN/MIN numbers, ... one of them is your actual phone number, the other is a phone number that your service provider uses on their switch to identify you with...
To get your MDN/MIN numbers for page plus, google:
"Page Plus Phone Status Report Form - Kitty Wireless"
Enter your email and phone number and they will email you a report that will show both your MDN and MIN numbers....
ref: 3G data
ok, i'm on eclipse 2.2 .902 build
i've gotten everything else to work except data
from what i've read my mdn number is my phone number
also, and the phone activates over the air using the 14 digit
instead of 15 my imei is 15 digit but my meid is 14 digit
got 3g and 4g sim cards both from verizon
only time i've been able to see any data at all was when i had
the 4g sim in the phone and get this: went to disable radio
that's when the phone would sorta "hang" and 3g would show up
then go away, and this happens only once in a while
i've done about every tutorial i can find, only thing is i don't want to
go to a stock rom really love eclipse 2.2 and others have data going on
that rom also, so it's something i'm doing wrong
i also get the same results when i'm on eclipse 3.0 so again, it's not the rom
it's me, goofen something up
even when i went in to the verizon store, they were cool and told me themselves
this phone has been problematic for them on full contracts getting data to run
at least that's what the rep said about our area
i have my sid set to 32, i've tried with and without sim in the phone
i love this phone, i'll get the data worken on it one way or another
if ya can lend a hand for few minutes skype allen-sec
or yahoo allensecz
to all those who have spoon fed me with yer replies and posts,
thank you very much, i've learned a lot here on xda, do my best
to pay it forward

No if your on .247 you shouldn't need the 3G sim card... only for GB

Yes, I have. This is what I did:
Re-activating phone on Page Plus after OTA update
1. Remove any old Motorola Droid Bionic drivers you may have on your computer and install the newest ones.
2. Turn phone off and turn back on in BPTools mode. Then plug the phone into your computer via USB.
3. Open DFS. Click "Ports" and select the COM port for your phone. Next, click the "SPC" button.
4. Click the "Programming" tab and then the "General" tab. Change the "Ruim Config" to NV_ONLY and click "Write".
5. Click the "Data" tab. Under the "Mode" section, change the "HDR SCP force AT config" option to "RevA_MFPA" and click "Write".
6. Close DFS and unplug phone from USB port.
7. Go to the dialer and dial ##7764726 (##PROGRAM). When prompted for an SPC password, enter "000000" and hit verify.
8. Go to "06 Test Mode". Hit "Next" twice. Then, change the Network mode to "CDMA Only".
9. Back out to the home screen; the phone will automatically restart.
10. After the phone has restarted, go to the dialer and dial *22800. Ignore any SIM card error messages you may see; just keep trying *22800 until you reach the activation screen.
11. Follow the instructions to activate the phone.
To get 3G working on your activated phone
1. Go to the dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#info#*#*).
2. Open "Phone information" and scroll down; click the button that reads "Turn off radio".
3. From the same screen, set the preferred network type to "CDMA auto (PRL)". Then turn the radio back on. The 3G notification should appear shortly.
I hope this helps someone!

I'm wondering the same thing. The question isn't what the 10 digit numbers are, but where are you supposed to enter them? The picture would be helpful here. Is anyone willing to upload those pictures for the OP or can the OP share the pictures some other way until you can post them?
Which field specifically are you supposed to enter the 10 digit phone number into on the "Data" tab?
In other guides they suggest rebooting the phone and editing the min/mdn by dialing ##program and choosing option 1. I tried that but I wasn't able to write those values. Anyone had luck doing it that way?

I messaged the OP weeks ago to take him/her up on posting the pics and links, I received no response.
I had all the same problems as you so I just skipped those steps. worked fine for me, my phone is working perfectly. my phone was previously activated but I did two full resets after the update so I don't think any PP programming was 'left over', but who knows.
to be honest I think the howardforums ics/bionic thread is more helpful than this one (pics, links, etc) here's a direct link:

Hi all,
Stuck in work at the moment and struggling for time, got the chance of buying an SP but suspect its locked to Orange UK (I'm on Vodafone).
Other than paying for the Network lock to be removed can i unlock it easy enough?
Would flashing it remove the network lock? Presume it would but would like to grab the offer while its there.
Any help much appreciated and apologies for not having the time to check into this myself!
No. Nothing that I know of.

Thanks mate, that seems to be what i've found too. I got a little bit extra off the price of the phone and am now looking for a cheap and reputable place to get an unlock code.
If it helps anyone buying an Xperia SP i've also discovered this evening;
You can see if the phone is locked by following these steps;
1. Turn on the phone without the SIM card in
2. Type *#*#7378423#*#*
3. Select 'Service info'
4. Select 'SimLock'
5. Check what services have an 'X' next to them / in the box
6. If X is shown next to "NETWORK" the phone is locked to your network.
7. If the value next to "NETWORK" is greater than 0, the phone can be unlocked (this is the number of attempts remaining).
Check if the bootloader be unlocked;
1. In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
2. In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. Check Bootloader unlock allowed - it should say Yes or No.
Final FYI for this one in case anyone finds it useful; i got the SIM lock removed via cellunlocker .net
Took 4 business days (less than the stated average).
YouTube Video of the unlocking is ZnEoub6hSoY

If I remember rightly it is because unlock codes come direct from sony and to use them you have to connect to sony servers which they charge hence unlock codes cost.
On my old arc you could use test point method which was under sim card for unlocking but with Sp you can not access anything when you take the back off so codes is the only way.

Xperia SP locked network, 0 attempts
Hi Guys,
Long time lurker here, appreciate the work. I can usually find an answer in the comments so never made an account.
But I am now stumped with a problem. I have an Xperia Sp that has 0 attempts left.
I followed all the steps:

2. In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. Check Bootloader unlock allowed - it should say Yes or No.
And the response was 0. Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to unlock a phones with 0 attempts left and how?!
Looking forward to your reply guys, thanks in advance.
Regards,
I have a question... I know my SP is locked. But how do I know which network it's locked to? I can't go and buy every single sim card and test them.

sim unlock AU kddi SCL21
Hello,
I know how to sim unlock samsung galaxy S3 SCL21 from AU kddi Japan.
After unlock it, you can use any SIM card in the world. Guarantee works 100%.
I can guide you, step by step, through Gmail chat.
(No matter where you are, it is possible to do it. Hassle-free as you DO NOT need to bring your phone to me)
You only have to pay me a small fee of 2000yen / USD20 (compared to other expensive methods available out there)
If you are interested, do reply me.
Thank you.
Chris
Email me at: [email protected]
Or you could just tell everyone how to do it. These kinds of posts piss me off so much, and even the youtube videos out there showing unlocked phones.

I figure people have probably moved on from this phone, and at some point so will I. My own experience with Android has not been pleasant (though this might just be a Samsung thing), and I plan to migrate back to Apple. Regardless, I still currently have an SCL21 and will be traveling this summer so I have been looking into SIM Unlocking this bastard. Below are my findings.
If you are still looking to unlock and have the resources (additional sim card) to try, I have combined some steps from two sources below. I have gone through the steps, but have not been able to verify b/c I lack an additional sim card and my buddy who has an iphone no long has his sim adapter. Once you set your band preference to GSM ALL, your mobile connection will disappear. This is normal. Please put in a GSM sim card (softbank perhaps?) and test it out.
The main steps are from HTCSOKU (who incidentally puts out some pretty good all around info). In addition I have combined information from a Vietnamese site, this information was from unlocks of firmware 4.0.4. Regardless of which firmware version of you, please try this out and report back if this worked for you. You may have to modify steps here and there, though all settings are reversible.
It goes without saying that you full responsibility should you try this. There will be no hand holding. Use your common sense, go slow, make your own notes.
If you are on firmware 4.1.2, the following procedure will open the Service Menu for you.
1. Dial *#9090#
2. Press Menu > Back
3. Press Menu > Key Input then type Q (yes that is correct) and hit OK
4. Press Menu > Key Input then type 0000 (that is four zeroes) and hit OK. Wait a couple of seconds and the Service Menu (DIAG CONFIG) will open up.
Unlocking steps are as follows.
1. Press UMTS > DEBUG SCREEN > PHONE CONTROL > NETWORK LOCK > PERSO SHA256 OFF. Wait 30 sec, then hit Menu > Back until you see NETWORK CONTROL at the bottom.
2. Press NETWORK CONTROL > GCF > GSM/(E)GPRS/WCDMA REL5. Then hit Menu > Back until you see BAND SELECTION.
3. Press BAND SELECTION > GSM > GSM ALL
4. Turn off your phone, put in a new SIM card and see if it worked.
If it doesn't work. Then repeat steps 2 & 3 above but change the selection to SETTING CANCELLATION and DEFAULT BAND PREFERENCE respectively. Turn off the phone, replace your original SIM card, boot and your LTE should be restored.
It should be noted that even if this does work, it will only allow you to use 3G since this phone only supports LTE BANDS 11 and 18. YMMV.

You can't down grade and expect it to work anyway.
If you are on the latest version of 4.1.2 (au released multiple versions) then try *#0011# in place of *#9090# them proceed with the rest of the instructions.

YMMV.

Wow been awhile. Glad it helped. Technically I think this phone is unlocked out of the box.
I got a replacement back in August and when I went to Taiwan recently I went through the steps but skipped the SHA256 part and it still worked. Basically you just have to set the phone up to use the desired frequency.

(who incidentally puts out some pretty good all around info).

If it's a Docomo phone you're gonna need an unlock code. In Japan only Samsung phones from KDDI can be unlocked using the service menu trick. If you're in Japan I believe docomo charges $30 to unlock phones, if you're not in Japan or don't wanna pay the fee then I believe there's a way to zero out the unlock code but I'm not quite sure how to do it.
Would anyone still using this phone (and have it rooted) be kind enough to dump the first 128MB of the firmware on their phones for me? I have a hard bricked one that I am trying to revive.
It's easier if you are on Linux or Mac, but all you need to is (assuming you are rooted):
1. Plug your phone to your computer.
2. type "adb shell" into a terminal or command line to get into the device.
3. type "su" to switch to root
4. type "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1M count=128" <--- exactly like that **
5. after #4 finishes, type "exit" two times to get back to your terminal or command line prompt
6. type "adb pull /sdcard/debrick.img ./" (linux/mac) to pull the file to your current folder, or open up the device using your file browser on your computer and copy it over (linux/mac/windows)
7. upload to gdrive or dropbox and share the link here.
* type the commands above without quotes
** if the command in #4 doens't work, then add the word "busybox" before the "dd"
Thank you in advance!
