Anyone tried to GSM unlock it yet? - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Both the Sprint HTC One and One MAX could be GSM unlocked by following this method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608910
Can anyone try it out and see if this works on the new One as well?

nice signature bro

I tried it, but it did not work. Hopefully someones has better luck then I did.

Did you get the vDm Client stopped working message before you tried to unlock the phone. Also which SIM card did you check it with. Just asking because it takes me 2-3 tries to get the phone to unlock on the One MAX. It's usually because the Omadm-SPCS file we change doesn't stick. You can check that by comparing the sizes of the files after reboot. Here is what I have found to work.
Change the file using ES/Root Explorer.
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Go into 'phone information' and try changing the network mode to WCDMA preferred. You will get the message 'vDm client stopped working', thereby indicating that the file has been changed successfully. Sometimes even after that it used to take me 2-3 complete retries to get the phone to unlock.
If you have the time do give it a couple of tries and thanks for doing this. Will help a lot of people if we can get the confirmation of this working out.

I tried the same method have not had any luck, anyone else?
Did you do anything different from what I did.
Is the phone supposed to restart by itself? Mine only freezes for a few seconds in the simand does not reboot. I reboot manually but still does not work. Anything else that you did different from the instruction? Your help will be appreciated.

Greetings,
I moved your thread to Q&A all questions should be asked there.
Thank You,

your sim card does not allow connection to this network

My HTC Incredible S signal bar got cross and mobile say out service area.
When I manually try to select network it says 'sim card does not allow connection to this network'
I have installed 3,4 ROMs but same issue, tried different radios but same issue.
Also tried *#*#4636#*#* thing, turned off then on radio many times but no use.
Any help will be highly appreciated!
One thing to note is that I can connect GPRS/ EDGE and browse normally without any issue still it shows no signal, but when try to make a call it says out of service area.
Also when phone restarts it locks on to network showing signals. but as soon as i make call signals are lost.
Awaiting help..

Thank you all for the replies, BUT I have tried all 5 carriers available in my country. The behavior is same for all SIMs. I bought unlocked Inc S. There is no doubt that it is locked because this strange behavior occurred suddenly when i was using my phone as usual. No new application / ROM or anything else was installed. It just suddenly started this behavior.
I think I have to send my device to HTC. At first I was trying to resolve the issue with help of you guys because it has no warranty. I have to pay for all the repair costs.
Anyway please keep me updated if any solution is available.
I'll too inform when my phone gets repaired that what was the issue, which might help some one suffering from same problem.
Thanks!
hmm probably u shuld restore to stock b4 sending to HTC! better chance of fixing it?

[Q][HELP] No Service after S-OFF & ROM installation
Hi,
I have a similar problem. My sister just bought a gently used Canadian Incredible S. It was unlocked and working fine on her carrier, Fido, but was running Gingerbread. Since the carrier doesn't offer this model, I decided to root it and install a custom ROM. I tried following THIS guide, but I rapidly ran into problems. I have to say it was my first time. First, the dev unlock failed with a simple "[ERR] Command error!!!" in fastboot. I did a search and finally realised my HBOOT was already at 1.13.0000 and that it was impossible to dev unlock. I also read that S-OFF was equivalent so I skipped the unlock and tried to flash the recovery, but that failed too. Then, I decided to skip Nonverbose's script and the RUU and use Revolutionary to S-OFF and install the recovery software. That worked so I installed Superuser, the ViperVIVO 1.3.0 ROM and did all the wipes. The phone works fine but it doesn't pick any signal. I flashed a new radio, the 11M, redid the APN settings and changed to WCDMA only with the secret code, but nothing works. I finally restored to the Gingerbread backup, but there still is no service. Any help would be greatly appreciated to understand and fix the problem.
Thank you!

Dangers Of Messing With Your Phone

Hello, everyone, I'd like to share my experience, get any help if someone can, and warn some future people.
So a few months ago i rooted and ROM swapped my HTC one. It was great, I loved it, it was fast and simple.
I tried to change the ROM on it the other day and everything went down hill form there. Basically I ended up having no service and everything else seeming to work fine. So after spending an entire day trying to fix it with BD619, i had to call my carrier today. Now i have the sprint phones, and the sprint service, but i have Credo as a carrier. God knows why. They essentially gave me nothing saying my phone must be bricked and they can't help me.
One thing they did try however was to have me put in a ##xxxxx# number, and there i saw and could edit my MDN and MSID, instead of showing my my phone number and the MSID number they both had "No" written. So he had me edit it and put it in, but when i click "commit changes" it said "commit failed" so if anyone knows anything about that or could help me there, it'd greatly appreciated.
Lesson is, even if you think you know what you are doing, and are careful, weird stuff can happen, and if you have an Odd carrier version of an already less support model of phone (the sprint version), then be EXTRA careful.

Yes, twice
This is not an uncommon problem but it happens with certain HTC ones and not others. I have helped a few other people with this issue. Most likely, your current ROM is set to RUIN/SIM in Settings-> More-> Mobile Network -> Subscription settings. It needs to be set to NV. If you can't get to this setting, you need to flash a ROM that has the setting available. CM 10 based ROMs all seem to have it. If your phone does not automatically reactivate, you can flash to a stock ROM and use the handsfree activation function and that should get you back up.

Try flashing a CM10 ROM. I've always seen the option there. The kitkat ROMs I have used do not have the option except for the Nocs GE.

The only way something like this happens is one of two things.....
1. Ur a noob
2. Your a dev and your testing ril on your rom
The only way to fix this which is a cleared meid of some sort......flashing cm10.1 is the only way and aquiring service by switching to nv....once there everything is fixed just flash/restore back to your rom.

i'd kinda like to argue a point here as this just happened to me. i am certainly not new to flashing, starting back with the mogul and having almost every sprint smart phone since then unlocked (windows) or rooted (webos and android).
Using TWRP and previously running ecliptic 4.3 i wiped caches, system and data then installed the 4.4.2 from team d3rp and voila... no service no meid no nothing.... yes i have the latest radio on my phone.
i guess my point in this is that there's a number 3 that you didn't mention.
3. sh!t happens and it's not n00b related.
for anyone else that has this issue... flashing CM 10.1 worked for me. i didn't even have to set up anything, it just picked up signal. so i rebooted, wiped and nandroided back to 4.3 and all is well.

I didn't... it was SuperOneK. i'm certainly not blaming the rom though. especially not when others are flashing it fine. the ONLY thing i can think of possibly happening is a bad download. I was in a rush and didn't check the md5.
I had a similar problem when flashing miui. Nothing worked. Even went back to a sense backup and nothing worked.
Commit failed as well.
Here's what I did to make it work again.
Flashed cm10. Change the network settings for CDMA. (Boom it SAID I had service..but didn't).
Rebooted a few times (probably not necessary).
Flashed a sense 4.3 ROM that was close to stock.
Update msl and all that. Commit.
For me..changed LTE/CDMA to just CDMA (no 4g in wv).
Boom it worked again. Hope this helps!

Unlocking Sprint G Flex to Cricket/AIO/ATT Wireless

This tutorial is my method for successfully unlocking the G flex to Cricket/AIO/ATT wireless with data/MMS, No battery drain, no Wifi calling drain.
1. Pros. Use Cricket/AIO/ATT sim.
2. Cons. Must dial International code +1 ( or whatever country code you're in) before every 10 digit number.
********Before we start you need to be on stock 4.4.2 sprint rom with Network Mode LTE/CDMA enabled************
(The roaming option does not appear when on GSM)
Next, change theme from "FLEX" to "LG". For some reason FLEX bugs out after the phone unlocks and causes crashes. (May be an isolated incident)
*Now we need to add the APN from AIO wireless into the Apn list by going into settings>roaming>Access point names
*The APN list will be blank and state "NO APNS" this is normal. Hit the menu button and add the AIO wireless APN settings from
http://buzzmobile.us/aio-wireless-apn-settings-internet-mms/
When completed you will need to press the back button and once again you will be greeted with a blank APN screen. Don't worry it's there.
Follow the instructions for root + unlocking the phone here. Total commander doesn't work on 4.4.2, don't use it, do it all with Root Browser (Get from Play Store).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50477852
After you are finished you should be rooted, successfully finished removing bloatware and left with a half unlocked phone.
Now navigate to settings/tethering and networks/mobile networks/Network Mode and change to GSM/WCDMA
**********************You are finished with this portion of the Tutorial***********************
*Fun Part*
1. Download Rom toolbox on your phone, the free/lite version is fine.
2. Navigate to build.prop editor
3. Find and change the settings listed..
ro.carrier=spr (spr to lowercase)
ro.build.target_operator=spr (spr to lowercase)
persist.service.crash.enable=1
Lets keep something in mind here... Once you change these settings you will need to restart your phone and you will be unlocked for Cricket/AIO/ATT networks, however, at this time you should know that if you venture back into network mode and happen to change your settings back to LTE/CDMA, you will lose the ability to change your network mode back to GSM UNLESS you revert the build.prop changes listed above. You can actively switch from LTE/CDMA and GSM by this method although I don't see why anyone would..
At this point you should have Talk/Text/Data/MMS...If not, you may have done something wrong.
**More funner part***
At this point in the tutorial your phone is doing two things.
1. It lies when it says its only on GSM/WCDMA
2. Rapidly draining the S#$% out of your battery.
We need the MSL Code so we may dial ##DATA# in your phone and access LTE settings.
Follow this Tutorial for retrieving your MSL code.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47324060
After you obtain the MSL pull up the phone application and dial ##DATA#(3282) Navigate into LTE and disable LTE/Band 26/Band 41
When you back out of the menu your phone will restart and stop continuously looking for LTE Radio.
**Final touches**
Remove all and I mean ALL sprint and preloaded wifi calling applications if you experience wifi calling battery draining. For some reason wifi calling spazzes out.
I'm not going to list the apk's because it may be an isolated incident and if you find out wifi calling is draining your battery just long press it in battery stats and go to "APP INFO" and find out what it is named and remove it with root browser...
I have been on Cricket/AIO wireless for two weeks now with HSPA+ and enjoying it.
This method may work with other carriers who knows.
**Food for thought**
1. When I change the ro.carrier settings from lowercase spr to ndo like in the APN i got a cool h+ instead of GSM.
2. I have not been able to wifi tether yet with cricket and I'm actively looking for a way now..
3. Think anyone else has issues with the FLEX theme crashing?
thanks.

If you don't mind how much do you pay? Will this work with a T-Mobile Flex? I'm pretty happy with T-Mobile since I got my discount back. I have 4 lines so it's around 25 bucks in savings a month.

It should work with t-mobile, i don't see why not, instead of ATT/AIO apn's just add a Tmobile apn and make sure that you have some time to play with the build.prop settings for example...
ro.carrier = spr can be changed to ndo and still work because "in theory" it matches the APN.
After adding the tmobile apn setting, changing ro.carrier to " t-mobile" to match the apn might work .
Try it out and see!
p.s i would leave ro.build.target_operator=spr alone, if all else fails you can change this too.
Thanks for the guide . I picked up a sprint g flex and lg g2 cheap, used your guide on both. Enjoying them on NET10 in the states.
patiently waiting for a custom recovery for kitkat on the flex.
interesting thread. i keep running into an issue though. as soon as i reboot after changing the stuff it reverts to where i was before and nothing saved. any suggestions? root is fine...
awesome stuff here i really want to see this happen on my flex!
Wont allow apn change
so i got stuck with a simple issue. when i go into the apn list there is an apn there already.
cinet.spcs
and when i press the menu key it is not showing the add feature to be able to add the new apn as described in the thread.
after doing these I noticed when opening Wifi it force closes and says "Unfortunantley, Settings has stopped"
only wifi that works is the one i used before doing these mods wont allow adding others
also have tried various wifi repair apps
working for me but getting tons of systemui crashes
Concerning the errors that appear often but I came out I did this : I returned and change in the build prop, spr for SPR capitalized and not returned to me the problem also remove the option to persist crash : 0 , take into GSM mode UMTS network selection mobile. I'm in version 4.4
Not working for me.
I tried this 3 times. Once with stock 4.4.2. Once downgraded to 4.2.2 and another time after updating back to 4.4.2 from OTA. All failed. Could not get any sim to be recognized. I am a smart guy and have done much more complicated methods of flashing, rooting, etc. for Android phones. But this just does not work. The phone states no SIM when I put my Cricket SIM in it. But when I put the Sprint SIM back, it reads it.
Any help would be GREATLY accepted. Thank you.
PS: I called Sprint because this is a clean phone. When I asked for the unlock code they gave me the MSL. I have a feeling that is incorrect but I could be wrong. After an hour on the phone, they said that is the unlock code. No matter how much I tried to tell them it's not.

Maybe this is a better guide for you:
http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-sim-unlock-sprint-lg-g2-ls980/
The Sim unlock does work, I've been using my sprint g flex on cricket for 6 months or so , but only with H+ .
You don't really need the msl or have the phone in good standing (blacklisted is OK).
If the Sim isn't being recognized that means you didn't do the folder replacement right. I had trouble at this part, which was solved by using the app "ROM toolbox". It took a few tries.
As far as changing the APN , just use any shortcut app on the playstore.
For switching bands, use the app " network" from the playstore. No msl needed.

Did you use the files from my link? Flex specific?
Don't use total commander.
What software version are you on?
Even after the FC, does it recognize your Sim?
You must also change the build prop, just realize the guide doesn't have that. Probably why your getting FCs.
Save a copy before making changes:
ro.carrier=spr
ro.build.target_operator=spr
persist.service.crash.enable=1

Sweet. Glad you got it.
The only trouble I have had with this method is if the phone shuts off or I restart, I have to switch the bands back to GSM.
would this work on LS995ZVB? thanks.

No Mobile Data after Lollipop Update

Hi there, I've got an european HTC ONE with Vodafone Brand. Yesterday I got the message to update to Lollipop. After this fails, because of ElementalX I used my old Recovery Image and restored it. After that the Update went well. Now I was outside the first time, without Wifi and mobile Data won't turn on. The Telephone and sms works great. Now I don't know what to do. Any Ideas?
Is there The right apn in the settings picture below.

Go-to settings - mobile data - access point names - 3 dot menu in top right and select reset to defaults, the screen will change and you'll just have to select your mobile operator from the list again, give it 2 mins and it should work.
When congstar is not in The list you have to add a apn manualy with The right settings ( Google helps )

Last thing I can suggest is get the apn settings off your operator and manually enter them, sometimes they can send you a data packet in a text message which will automatically update the apn for you.
You usually get these same type of texts when you put a new SIM card into your phone, just got to ring them and get them to send it manually this time.
Hey tried that too. Set everything up, restartet, but no mobile data. Any idea?

contact your carrier, or even better, bring them your phone so they can confirm the APN is set correctly and that there is no problem on their side. Then you might want to try a factory reset before trying anything else.
Hi, I just had it short times working. Sometimes it is very short times there but most of the time it is not connected. Is it a Must to add an APN manually? I have never done this before.

No, it's easy, again goto settings, mobile data, 3 dot menu in the top right and select new apn, you will be presented with a load of things to fill out, you can usually get the details from the help section on your mobile operators website, or by calling them and have them talk you through each setting, not all sections need to be filled out, then save it and set it as the one to use rather than the other one you have now which doesn't work.

You said in your last post that you've never set the apn manually before ? But if you have, in that case I would take it to your nearest Vodafone store like alray said earlier and get them to sort it for you.

I had a similar problem when setting up an APN on Virgin mobile, sometimes, some of the settings can be different with the same provider.
I would google the APN settings issue you have specifically with your carrier and see if there are any forum posts which suggest slightly different settings.
In my case the carrier settings for APN type were this APN type — internet + mmsand didnt work...I was told to try this APN type default, supl, mms
And it sprung into life.
It could something that simple
Hi, I just get it to work!
@Seanie280672, I've a vodafone branded phone, but not vodafone as my provider, so I couldn't go to the store. After the second call to my privider, he sends me a ne apn configuration and that worked!
Thanks all for your help!

I haven't gotten around with it yet. The last time I tried, I got the Security Exception. For now I just bear with it, I boot my phone and do something else so that I won't notice. haha.
Will follow this post just to be updated.

Mine never does that. Does it succeed? It must succeed to not pop that up.
One thing I've learned the hard way several times, is if you have AdBlocker running it screws up Activation, Update PRL etc. But you should be able to turn it back on later.
If it is failing activation even with adblocker off try activating with WIFI connection up.
You can also try ##72768# but be warned if it does not succeed you will have no voice or data. I recommend doing this only with a solid Sprint Signal 3G or 4G, but WIFI will work too.
If you call sprint, 99% sure that's the first thing they will try.
If you are using GSM in another country there is an app you can freeze. Look in Sprint M9 forums, this is asked all the time on how to kill it.

I'm on GSM in another country. I tried methods described before to turn it off before, but I ended up bricking my phone. If I started to be bothered by it again, I might try freezing it. Something I noticed though, I didn't notice the Activation prompt on my recent reboots recently.
For the information of all...
Dont try remove or Rename "LGStartupwizard.apk" remove this APK cause Bootloop and stuck at the "LG Security Error" and the only way to go back to life the G4 is flashing TOT file
cheers!
It might be wonky activating because your on a gsm network with a CDMA based phone.
