Guys,
How can I use this feature to toggle on/off my bluetooth, NFC, Cellular Data, Wifi, etc?
How can I ask it to read out unread texts or the last text I got?

To read text just say "hey google now, what's up" and it will read your notifications and maybe your text.
and you cannot toggle features on and off unfortunately, that would be cool though but then other people could sabotage your phone... NOT COOL!
Hope that helps.
Thanks I'll give that What's Up thing a try later today.
It didn't work. Just does a Google search for What's up.
Any other suggestions?
Are you sure you've updated the Touchless Control app? It should work even when you don't have any pending messages. If you are certainly up to date, just try again.

Try what's new or read notifications. I think what's up works for U.S users only.
Yes for UK users, the command is What's New. Works perfectly and very handy!
Absolutely loving this phone for it's features and sleek looks!
What I have done in the past is to use Tasker app factory to create small apps to do the toggles you want, and then tell touchless control to launch the app.

That's not true if you have root. There is an xposed module that allows Google now to turn on/off bluetooth/wifi/mobile data. It works with Touchless controls.

Works fine here; "launch driving mode". "Driving Mode" being an app I created for setting BT on, WiFi off, screen timeout to 5 minutes, and sending a play intent to Pocketcasts.

The module is Google Search API. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/xposed-modules/mod-google-search-api-t2554173
The plugin, voice toggles, allows you to turn on/off wifi/bluetooth/mobile data. I also use the autovoice plugin to allow me to use my tasker/autovoice stuff from google now, and by extension touchless controls.
The ability to turn on/off bluetooth/wifi/mobile data is already built into google now, but it's disabled and/or incomplete. I'm remembering that, so it might not be 100% correct.

Hi everyone,
Okay this might be a dumb question but I'm going to ask. Is there a way to remotely enable/activate the GPS and WiFi on my Android phone through a text message? I currently have GPS Tracker, Lost My Droid, Real Time GPS Tracker, Seek Droid, SMS GPS Enabler, and Where's My Droid installed on my phone to try and remotely turn on my GPS and WiFi. The problem is that yes sending the text to my phone and have the sound go off for Where's My Droid and Lost My Droid works, but the problem is having my GPS and WiFi turned off on my phone and not hearing because its not there. Yes, their are plenty of good apps that let you track your phone if your GPS is on, but they do not allow you to turn on GPS and WiFi through (SMS) text. So all and all, is there an app or apps that can do this for me, so I can do what I want to do?
Any information would be helpful, instructions would be better lol.
Thanks, II

I am the Dev of seek droid. Why leave the GPS disabled? It really does not conserve that much battery. Enabling the GPS does not leave the GPS turned on or even give the GPS any power unless the application you are using requests GPS.
Go pick up tasker from the market, and you can create a profile to have it enable gps whenever you get an sms.
You should probably have taker already anyways. It's a beast.

For some reason on my phone if I leave the GPS enabled it will drain out my battery in a few hours (8hrs). Where as if I turn GPS off, my battery has lasted up to almost 16hrs which is double and it is the only setting that I have changed.

Thanks for the advice pizz0wn3d. I will look into Tasker and see if it works for me and what I need it to do.
f you don't see the satellite dish in the notification bar then it really shouldn't use any battery, even if GPS is enabled. If you have location stuff turned on so the GPS is being used (i.e. you see the satellite dish in the notification bar) it will use battery.

Let me know and I can send you the profile I use. It makes the phone talk (alerting them that gps is being remotely enabled to track the phone down) and sends a confirmation text to the number that activates the gps. Then you can use "wheres my droid" or whatever else to track that S.O.B. down.

Bob, I do know this. For some reason my Map app starts up on its own and launches Latitude causing my GPS to activate and stay on. I don't want to uninstall Maps or Latitude because I do use them. Its easier to just turn off GPS then hassle with trying to find the source of the problem, in truth.

Well the way my profile is set up, whenever I receive a text with a certain phrase in it, it'll turn on the gps. Along with a few other things
It's not one of the advertised features because it's just one of the many things you can do with it.
I'll try to post a dropbox link in a few minutes.
Edit: This oughta work. Import this into tasker.
http://db.tt/D7u8eKw
It should be able to import after you paste the xml file into:
/sdcard/tasker/profiles
Then just hit menu -> profile data -> import one profile

If you use Latitude, it will be on all the time and cause battery drain because it needs update your location 24/7 even if Gmaps is not used. You don't have to uninstall it. Just make sure you log out of Latitude if you don't use it.

Oh sorry, normally I do but I haven't been on xda outside of the app in a few days so I haven't been able to look at my messages.
There is a wiki on the app that has a bunch of different profiles you can try out, as well as a couple of tutorials to get the hang of making profiles.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about going to the lock screen, as idk if it's possible to do that though tasker. I'll mess around and see what I can find.
What exactly are you trying to do that requires you to go to the lockscreen and play a ringtone?

Well for the lock screen; I was trying a remote lock down after I enabled the GPS tracking, so they could not turn it off, other then removing the battery of course. The only thing I can do right now is, set screen time out to 7sec. which is the smallest amount Tasker allows. The lock in Tasker is a joke because if you click on the notification bar at the top and select something you can bypass the lock, even in full screen mode.
As for the Ringtone/Ringer; I was trying to setup the phone to ring when people text me, similar to that of Where's My Droid, but with a twist. When I get their text, the assigned ringtone under their contacts or from file would play, that way I would know who it was without having to look at my phone every time. For this one in particular; do you or someone else know how Where's My Droids setup works? Then I can try to base it off of that. From what I can tell, it tricks the SMS into using the the ringer system and not the notification system. So a bait and switch from SMS Receiver to Cell Receiver. That's all I know for now.
Thanks for the link! I'll go through it to learn some more about Tasker.

I've never tried to set up a remote lock through tasker, I just had it set up to enable the GPS so I could lock+retrieve it via wheres my droid/lookout. But i have heard that the tasker lock down was pretty weak >.<
I actually never realized the phone didn't support custom tones for contacts outside of the calling ringtones. That actually sounds pretty difficult to implement via tasker. You would first have to disable notifications from your sms app so the tasker profile wouldn't just play a sound over that one. You'd also likely have to create a separate profile for each contact that you want to have a custom sms tone for.

Starting apps can be done. Changing settings is a no-no in Windows Phone due to security concerns. The most is the ability to open the settings page (e.g the wifi settings) but you have to turn it off yourself.

Does anyone know the name of the process that monitors acoustic levels and pops up when you turn the volume to max on headphones? On my Razr Maxx it was it's own app and I used Disable Service to stop it from warning me EVERY time.
I use a Tasker app to set volume to max in my car when streaming to bluetooth and on KitKat it only goes to about 75% volume, and I have to manually slide it up to max and press OK for it to actually change.
I can see it on my Droid Razr Maxx on JB 4.1.2 as a standalone app (can't disable from regular settings menu) but I could disable the service that monitored it. I'm guessing it's integrated into Android System or System UI now and I haven't taken the time to look at every single service in there to see which it is. Just curious if anyone else has found it yet, or another way to stop it from interfering with my desire to listen to satanic music at obscene volumes.
Thanks!
Do you reboot frequently? Because I only get that prompt once, and then it never comes up again until I reboot the phone.

I use one profile to detect if I'm in the car or not. It checks if I'm connected to my bluetooth device in the car and sets a variable %INTHECAR to yes.
The actual Pandora task runs if %INTHECAR is yes and the time is between 9am and 6am (I listen to a local morning radio show on my drive to work instead of Pandora, so don't launch if it the morning show is on).
The actions for the Pandora task are:
Load App - Pandora
Wait - 5 seconds (this accounts for Android trying to reset Pandora to the previous volume you listened at)
Media Volume - 15
When bluetooth disconnects, %INTHECAR is set to no, and there is an exit task that will kill Pandora and revert some settings:
Media Volume - 0
Taskkill - Method: Extreme - Pandora
Go Home - Page 0 -- IF %SCREEN ~ off
I use the Taskkill app which adds kill support to Tasker. The built in option doesn't work anymore since like Android 4.1 or 4.2.
I have other profiles that run off of the %INTHECAR variable (auto SMS reply is one), which is why I have it set out on two different profiles.
I'd be happy to answer any questions that anyone has.

I rooted with SlapMyMoto 0.5c and have 4.4, with Xposed and Gravity Box and it works fine. You do need to disable write protection for Xposed to work properly, though.
Another question about Gravity Box.. How does it impact battery life? It seems like the stuff it does (battery look/feel, additional context in menus, etc) are stuff that's already there, but "hidden". With it, I've already been able to remove two existing apps from my phone, one I used for torch and another I used for a reboot button. I also turned on the network traffic monitor in the statusbar.
I assume since so many people use it that it must not take too much battery, but who knows.

I've noticed no increased battery use. But then I'm also not turning on features that require additional power. When KitKat was introduced someone at Google was quoted in a press release who said the network activity indicators in the status bar consumed a "surprising" amount of resources. If that's true, then I should think turning them back on would entail a bit of a battery hit.
I'm trying to enable WiFi tether with tasker for arunchained. I have the secure settings app and it doesn't toggle WiFi tether. It comes up as an error when running the task. Anyone have any luck with this?
Same issue here and have seen it on several other threads..... have not seen a solution to this yet. I've used Tasker and Trigger in the past with no problems, but can't get either to turn Hotspot on/off.
Strange...
I just tried with both the built in Tasker toggle and Secure Settings and both times Wi-Fi Hotspot turned on without a problem.

I found a wrokaround that allows you to still tether automatically with Tasker. I posted my results here in the Tasker Groups page. More or less you simulate screen taps to use the standard phone quick setting in the notification pulldown window. Send a PM or hit me up on Hangouts if you need any help figuring it out.
Thanks @andrewjt19 I'll have to give this a go later! I actually found an app that will toggle Wi-Fi tether automatically, but it is paid. I wonder what method the app uses to do it, I never checked on a debugger and I'm not even sure I would know what I am looking at. It is a shame to have to pay for something that should be such a simple procedure.
The app is called toggle WiFi hotspot 5.0 by Erwin Goslawski.

I found this widget and bought it too. It works well. I guess I'm glad I found an alternative methods of this stops working at some point. The only downside to my method is that the screen must be on and off the user is interacting with the device when the script runs, it could interfere this not activating the intended purpose. But overall it's simple and efficient. Thanks for sharing this widget though.

I had been having this problem on my 5x and just found a solution with xposed. I installed the xposed module 'x tether' which says it enables tethering for the moto x phones and afterwards tasker is able to enable / disable the wifi hotspot. This is the first thread that came up on google when I searched for this problem so I thought I would post here in case someone else encounters the same problem.
With the announcement of the new gestures feature for the Pixel 4 I thought: "I should try something similar with Tasker".
Here it is!
It's obviously less precise because you don't have all the extra sensors needed for accurate gestures, but on the other hand it's infinitely more customizable!
Depending on what situation you're in, you'll be able to do lots of different things!
Included are:
Music control gestures
Whatsapp gesture
These are just 2 examples. You can expand on these and do whatever you want with them!
Import the project here!
Enjoy!
Great job Joao!!!
If I can, I would like to share mine too from time ago. Hope this helps yours

Not working with both of them. Tried with google play, spotify and whatsup. After import It asked to install AutoInput and AutoNotification which I did and purchased. I allowed all the permissions but maybe some are missing...

Thanks. Can you verify that you have Tasker 5.8.2?
Also, did you give AutoNotification access to your notifications? Go to Tasker > Menu > More > Android Settings > Notification Access > Check if AutoNotification is enabled.

Yes, version 5.8.2 installed. AutoNotification has an access. All is set as you indicate. Maybe there is an issue with my proximity sensor. I test it by dialing *#77692# and by default it was off. I turned it on and It worked perfectly. On second attempt to dial It was off again. Maybe It is activated on samsung S10 only at performing specific action as making phone call?
I also checked with Sensoroid - Senso info app what sensor are there at my S10. It lists about 52 sensors found including TMD4910 Proximity sensor, Proximity pocket and Palm Proximity Sensor.

Ah yes, that is possibly the issue! I've had reports from other people that the S10's sensor is not working as it should and only turns on during calls... Unfortunately I can't help with that one Check here for example.
I would love to hear some other ideas that people on this thread used when activating this. I'm not a WhatsApp user, so I'm only basing my experiences through GPM. Any additional apps where this could be advantageous?
Mate 20 lite not working i wasted 3 euros

correcting my comment, it works perfectly now

I'm new to tasker, and wanted to know if you can trigger the camera to take a photo with this air gesture?
I imported the file from the OP to my OnePlus 6T. This is the only thing I have setup in Tasker, and for the life of me I can not get it to function. An I missing something

Start with making sure the proximity sensor is working. A poster above with a Samsung had a problem like that. If you need an app to test it, try Sensors Toolbox
Then look at the tasker log and see if there is any messages there that will help.
Are you trying the WhatsApp or music controls?

Music.
I'll try your suggestion
I really want to control the camera with this, but I do not think it's possible.

I actually installed this to see what was up. On the music version, the profile "Proximity With Music" has three contexts. The AutoNotification context is set to trigger the profile only on notifications from specific apps. You need to check and make sure your app is enabled there. Also, if you don't have AutoNotification installed, it won't work.
As far as taking a photo, that definitely can be done. Here is a Air Camera project. It builds on Joao's project and requires AutoInput to be installed.
It's possible that it won't work out of the "box" due to two things.
1) The "Camera" profile gets triggered based on the Google Camera app opening. This would need to be updated to whichever camera app is used.
2) In the "Handle Camera Gesture" profile entry task, the AutoInput action is expecting the Google Camera app. If that doesn't exist, that action can be updated to operate the shutter button in whatever camera app is installed.
NOTE: In the "Handle Camera Gesture" profile entry task, there is a paused action, "Take Photo". That is actually the Tasker action that will take a photo regardless whether the camera is open or not. It's a bit silly in this application but could be used instead of the AutoInput action.
