So i'm running the latest Viper Rom 5.8 on firmware 4.19.401.11. Lately every 2 or so days I'll go to use my phone and it says it has reception but won't send messages or browse the internet. When it happens, if i want to get it to work i have to cycle flight mode. Does anyone else have this issue and know what to do? It is really annoying. Also I think it has only just started happening after i updated to the latest firmware. Is it a known issue?
Thanks.
Who's your carrier? Is there a carrier-specific radio you can flash?

Hi all!
When i switch-off the airplane mode, my nexus one ( stock 2.3.3 ) doesn't reconnect to the normal network ( gsm/umts,2g/3g ) for calls and messages.
The airplane symbol disappears and appears a little rectangle with a ! on it and the message "Emergency call only".
If i switch the phone off and then on, it connects correctly as usual and i can call and send sms as usual.
How can i solve this boring problem?
Thank you so much!
Sounds like it's a defect with the radio. You may want to call HTC for a repair/replacement if you're still in warranty.
Thanks for the answer!
I am still on warranty, but that would be annoying i think..
May it be a software problem?

If you think its software your could try doing a factory restore. I'm sure others can chime in with how to do this... or how to downgrade and upgrade again. See if that resolves it.

Its most likely software like it might not have updated to gingerbread right because in the process of updating there was several updates from 2.2 to 2.3.3 that includes a radio upgrade but it might not have receved that one update before it reveved gingerbread
I know cause i have a nexus one as well as a g2
Its worth a look at

Problem was dued to NoLock App.
When the lock was disabled, the sim card ( i must unlock it with the pin code) couldn 't reconnect.
I suddenly discovered it this morning .
With lock on, airplane mode works perfectly
Thank you all for helping, i love my nexus!

My phone just suddenly stopped being able to send mms/picture messages (it was working fine uptill yesterday). No new apps have been installed, tried battery pulls but its still not working. When i try to send them. the phone will say "sending" but the message never gets sent, it will just stay that way until i delete the message.
Im in Pakistan so am using the international GSM note gt-n7000. Funny thing is, I am receiving mms just fine and can browse the net using the data network connection aswell.
I was on stock GB when the issue started and now just updated to stock ICS 4.0.3 and the problem still persists.(im non rooted btw)
Also the few other people i know who have the same network as me, but are in another city are experiencing no problem whatsoever.
I have tried everything i could think of, using the default access point settings as well as manually entering them but nothing seems to work.
Could this be a problem with my phone and not my network?
Hi, I am having same issues on AT&T: i am unable to send/receive MMS/connect to inet. Everything worked fine before the ICS update.

I would suggest that you call ur operator pertaining to this matter.
By the way, could you tell us what is your Modem, kernel and ROM?

its all stock, have yet to root the phone, the ics is the official Germany release. The problem started when i was on GB and persisted when i came over to ICS... i can cope with a network problem, just hope its nothing hardware related..
Do you have other Sim card from other operator? That is another way to isolate the issue

Since installing this ROM last night, I'm unable to make calls. As soon as I do, all signal drops and phone says "No coverage available". End the call and signal comes back. I can receive calls, just can't make them.
I would have posted this in the ROM thread but don't have enough posts... Any one help?
Thanks!
Panic over. Turns out to be a bug in the ROM

Every time I call I get a message that I'm roaming and I can't make a call. Text messages don't go through either. At least I still have a data connection... Right

I have the same issue, did you find any sort of fix?
Yes I updated my profile and prl. Not sure why or how it got to that point though

Same thing
I'm having the same problem. It seems like it started when I updated to the newest software. When I'm right next to a tower, it seems to work normal, but when I get anywhere else...not so much. It will show signal, but disconnect right after I dial. After multiple attempts at provisioning, and manual reprogramming, they determined that it was an antenna problem and that I should take it into a store to get it replaced.
I'm having the same issue before and after updating. Sounds like a tower upgrade issue Imo

I thought that I had fixed it through a profile and prl update, but yesterday afternoon I lost everything. Took it back to the sprint store and was told that the connection issues are because of people buying or switching to the new S5 causing provisioning issues. The only time my phone works is over wifi. It's going back today

Fux the s5. Fux Sprint for not running the numbers on making sure it's network doesn't crash. The network is a nightmare in Chicago.

Pretty sure the network crap is just an excuse .... Just hope they realize and update their crap . I'll be hanging on awhile longer it not I'm just gonna call up htc and get it replaced after the 14 days
I was having the same problem and it turned out to be my Air rave. Called Air Rave direct 866-556-7310 and they reset my system. Everything fine now. Seems my air rave was stuck trying to connect my old phone. Maybe it'll help someone.
It comes and goes without a change of setting g, but instead of a phone ringing or vibrating it just shows a new voicemail. My wife complains that I never answer my phone but it never rings, even with all the sounds at their highest. Any ideas what might cause this?
On pure rom

Bad/weak signal?
Have you tried having her call you again to see if it rings - while in the same room? I feel like it could be a rom issue, but it's probably more related to service.
Carrier or rom. Need to reflash stock and start from scratch. If works on stock which I believe will be the case since mine works then clean flash the rom. It's not rocket science.
If you check the Sprint thread in General you'll see that a lot of people, including myself, have the same problem. It happens when you're connected to LTE and WiFi at the same time. Until a patch is released by Sprint, it seems the only thing we can do is turn off WiFi or change the preferred network type to 3G.
The bug is present on stock M P3 too.
