Hi guys,
I usually don't ask stupid questions on forums but meanwhile I have no idea what to.
I got my Kindle Fire HD 7" (newest version) from amazon.
Now I tried to install CM11 but I stuck at the ADB connection.
I meanwhile tried it under OS X Mavericks and Win8. Always the same.
I already know that I installed the adb and the fastboot correctly. Because if I plug in my Nexus 4 its recognized.
The ADB on the kindle is activated. But it doesnt appear in the terminal.
Kindle FW 11.3.2.2
Would be happy if someone could help me.
Don't proceed further, that is a 2013 kfhd, you can't install ROMs on those, you will brick it. There's only root access for that device, but you will need a fastboot cable for the rooting process last I heard.

Hi,
is there a way to root my Kindle Fire HD 7 11.3.2.2 on OS X Mavericks.
I can't find instructions and downloads for hot-to anywhere? :roll eyes:
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi all, I'm posting after weeks lurking here how to make my Kindle Fire HD 2 a real table. I followed many steps but now I can't even switch on the kindle so I ask you if I can solve my problem.
The kindle I have is the Kindle Fire HD (I guess 2) with Microphone and Webcam. The Version is 7.2.1
At first I rooted the device using the instruction on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891939
Eveything worked and not without any effort. I had to install the Android SDK and test many times the adb tools.
Before that I tried the KUF 0.9.6 but didn't work.
After the rooting I wanted to install TWRP, my purpose is to have a tablet with Android.
I followed the instruction on this page: http://finditmore.info/2012/09/19/install-team-win-recovery-project-kindle-fire/
I guess here is the mistake. I downloaded the twrp 2.3 and firefirefire 1.2 and installed as wrote in that page, but now I can't switch on the kindle. Really is like death.
Could anyone explain me what I did wrong? Could I still recover the tablet?
Thanks in advance

The post you linked explains a method for KINDLE FIRE 1ST GENERATION, there's no possibility for now to get a recovery working in our devices regardless of whether the device is a Kindle Fire HD or a Kindle Fire 2. So, you probably bricked your device. From my point of view you only have 2 choices: You can retUrn it to Amazon and pray, or you can try with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254.
But please, read everything before doing anything.
Hope it helps

Thanks. I'm downloading the system from the thread you pointed me out. But what make me very disappointed is the fact that the kindle isn't switching on anymore. This is really odd.
I'll try to fix it if I can't I'll send to amazon and I'll pray.
Anyway, where are the instruction to flash the Kindle HD 7.2.1?
Thanks!
There is no way you can get your device working now. As far as we know, only Amazon has the ability to fix a second generation device that has an unsigned bootloader or recovery installed.
Hi everyone, I just got my Kindle Fire HD 7" (Version 10.2.6) a few days ago.
I successfully got my device rooted from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628
After rooting, I tried to install the android and jellybean OS into my device with the following help from these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041694
https://sites.google.com/site/tomsgt123/videos/kindle-fire
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/otter/aosp/jb-4.2.2-kfire-hashcode-2013-02-12.zip
http://goo.im/gapps
The main problem now is when I tried to install TWRP (Function 3). When the "run.bat" tried to fastboot; nothing happens to my Kindle. I tried turning on and off my kindle a few times and the problem still persists. So I rerun the "run.bat" file and used the function "1" to try to boot my kindle. My kindle got rebooted but then it just like a normal reboot and it went back to the Amazon homescreen. No matter how many times I tried to manual reboot from "run.bat", it is still the same.
When I am at the KFU menu, the statuses for my device are shown as follows:
ADB Status: Online
Boot Status: Unknown
No matter what I do, the Boot Status will always be shown as "unknown".
I am wondering is it even possible to install android and jellybean on the new Kindle Fire 7" 2nd Generation device? Thanks a lot and your help will be deeply appreciated.

Hello XDA Community,
I just ordered and received my fastboot cable for my 2013 Kindle Fire HD 7" (Soho) hoping that I would be able to backup the original ROM and flash it to run CyanogenMod, because the Amazon Kindle OS is really lacking. I would also like to have root again since root has been removed after the auto update from 11.3.1 was pushed upon me even know I modified my hosts file (also I just noticed today they just updated the OS again to 11.3.3).
I have been looking around the Internet for a tutorial on how to flash my version of the KFHD, but the only version I can find a tutorial for is Tate. I am also unable to get my ADB server to recognize my Kindle when using the fastboot cable. With the Kindle completely off I hook up my fastboot cable and turn on the device and it is not recognized, and the Device Manager lists the devices as "Soho-PVT-Prod-07". I uninstalled and re-installed the Kindle Fire Drivers and using my regular cable the Kindle is recognized just fine within Windows.
Any assistance would be grand and appreciated!
Thank you all!

There are no custom ROM's for the SOHO. Attempting to flash one for Tate will more than likely brick your device. There is a root topic on XDA though.

Thank you for the reply. I have been viewing the thread and trying to restore my Kindle back to the 11.3.2.1 using Gran PC's utility, but when it attempts to Install the OS I get the Red Triangle with an Exclamation Mark. Even if I can just get my Kindle back to 11.3.2.1, root, and install Google Apps I will be happy.
I just got my son a KF HD 7", I don't believe it's the HDX. All I want to do is install Google Play so I can install a bunch of the games he already purchased from a previous tablet. I tried following the thread from the FAQ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069329 and also searched around for other threads, but I have had zero luck.
All was going well until I tried downloading KFFirstAide from the thread, the download kept getting interrupted, I was able to find KFFirstAide elsewhere on RootJunky's YouTube channel.
Then I had issue with the drivers, I finally got the drivers working from a post on gizmag.com using what seemed to be the HDX drivers, I was able to see it in Device Manager properly under Kindle Fire\Android Composite ADB Interface, but when I did a test in KFFirstAide for ADB it said "NO DEVICE FOUND! Please ensure ADB is ON and proper drivers are installed." ADB is turned on and it looks like the correct drivers are installed.
Am I just wasting my time right now? Is there no way to root/install Google Apps on this newer OTA update? If there is an easier way that I missed please let me know. Thanks in advance.
OK there's a small bit of info needed to know if what you are doing is the correct method. Is this the 2012 kfhd or the 2013. The 2013 kfhd doesn't have a front facing camera.(2013 doesn't mean hdx either)
Edit: my bad forgot about the title! That's a 2013 kfhd, don't use kffa with it its not meant for it. That tablet is rootable but not rommable(with the exception of a ROM that came out that uses the stock kernel. I remember hearing youncan install Google play services! Think their was a issue with them and it may have been since fixed but don't quote me on that. The 2013 models aren't my specialty.

Thanks stunts513, the KFHD that I got him doesn't have a front facing camera. It's weird though, I see forums about KFHD 1st Gen and 2nd Gen but after looking on Amazon's KFHD developer forum it sounds like we have a 3rd Gen KFHD??
I was already aware of how to enable ADB but when I saw the link on developer.amazon.com I realized I probably have a 3rd Gen KFHD. The following is cut from the Amazon forum:
Enable ADB on your Kindle Fire tablet by doing the following.
Note: The following instructions do not apply to Kindle Fire (1st Generation), where ADB is enabled by default.
1.On your Kindle Fire tablet, go to Settings.
2.On a third-generation Kindle Fire tablet, tap Device.- or - On a second-generation Kindle Fire tablet, tap Security.
3.Set Enable ADB to On, and then accept the pop-up warning message. Note: As a security precaution, you should set Enable ADB to Off when you are not trying to connect to the Kindle Fire tablet to your development computer.
The Device tab in Settings is where I go to enable ADB. You don't by any chance have a link to where I can find how to Root and install Google Apps on my KFHD version do you? Or should I be searching for "Root 2013 Kindle Fire HD"?? Thanks!
Last I checked you are going to need a fastboot cable to root that kindle. Here's the rooting method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544736
If you get a fastboot adapter I recommend the blackhat ones, they are reputable, I have been seeing a few people buying fastboot cables and getting a standard microusb cable lately. If that rooting method doesn't work you can always downgrade the os and root the older version.
