Hello guys,
I've been using XDA for a long time to figure out problems related to my devices. Recently I bought Samsung Galaxy S III LTE in Pakistan, having baseband I9305XXBMA2.
I searched a lot to find any link to give me a stock 4.3 update for my phone but I couldn't get one.
I shall be really greatful if you could let me know any way to update it, but seriously I don't want to root my phone. But if rooting is the only option to be left, please let me know.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi
Your current firmware allows you to root the phone easily, and you can then use Mobile Odin to upgrade to 4.3 without losing root. Stock 4.3 firmware has Knox bootloader which prevents you from rooting, modding etc. I would advise that you search XDA for 4.3 discussion to learn a bit more about Knox bootloader.
Since you are not interested in rooting, search for your region's 4.3 firmware here:
1) http://www.sammobile.com
2) http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9305
You need to understand that you cannot downgrade from 4.3 firmware without tripping Knox flag.
Good luck.

G'day all.
I've been searching, and I'm unsure on what to use to root my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000B (Telstra). It's a slightly different model number, and I just want to know is there a way to root the thing and install CWM without bringing up a triangle and increasing the counter? I already purchased MobileOdin btw.
Model: GT-N7000B
Firmware: GINGERBREAD.DVLC1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-N7000BDVLC1-CL1006149 [email protected] #2
Baseband: N7000BDVLB2
Thanks
Have you tries superoneclick, rooting will remove the Telstra ****

Nope, no go, it's not directly rootable. Has anyone rooted an N7000B?
Why would you want to root it, that's what your wife or gf is for. jokes aside let me know how you go I just got mine on Tuesday and am yet to root it .
Well I am not sure if anyone has tried an N7000 rom on an N7000B. I didn't want to end up with a shiny new brick, thats why I asked here. I already have done a search and all I got was vague answers. Has anyone successfully flashed/gained root access on an N7000B?

I'm sure it would be fine. I am running ics on my N7000 but shows as I9220 in baseband as it's based on Chinese leak ROM with same hardware.

I would also like to know this. My phone is exactly as above (also from telstra au)
...I dont really care about the yellow triangle or counter though(I can sort that out later when there is more support for this model)
I would like to be sure that the process will not brick the phone, this would suck as its only 2 days old .
best if I know that someone else has done it first
thanks.
The n7000b is just a firmware. you can flash another firmware (and it will not brick your phone). the only down side to this is you won't be able to go on the telstra mobile websites, eg. mobile foxtel,
Anyone brave enough to try to root this one?
I just got my note today and would really like root access....
bump
I'm interested in seeing how this goes as well. The itch to root and flash something better than Telstra's rubbish is growing but I am nervous about the process (it seems vastly different to my old Desire).
I find the stock rom not too bad.. GREAT battery life, the only thing I want root for is to record my calls (use it for work).
I have a call recorder installed on my stock Note that doesn't require root. Got it off the market too.
It's called Call Recorder.....

isnt mobile foxtel just an app...
Anyone done this yet?
I tried the call recorder apps off the Market but none seem to record properly, they just use the speaker.
My note originally from Poland (!) bought via UK back in early November (can't believe I've had my wonderful toy for over six months now!) Given that there were very few Notes back then and next to none in Oz, I was very nervous about rooting and flashing - the challenge you are facing today. I spend many days reading nearly all the threads before biting the bullet and doing my first root!
All I can recommend you do is read Dr Ketan's flashing guide very carefully and make sure you have a backup. I've had a few nervous moments with black screen but always been able to recover by rebooting into recovery and restoring a backup. I'm on Telstra and never had a problem with any firmware I've used (I don't using Telstra Foxtel)
I know that the latest version requires you to flash an older version of ROM before you can root, but once done you can remove all the annoying rubbish and use great programs like Titanium backup to backup and restore the apps you want and freeze the CPU hogs!
I hope that helps you - my experience was different and I felt very alone the first few times I flashed (never having done it before) but the forums have been a godsend in helping.
PS I have never used Mobile Odin - I have found that CWM does all I need it to
So if the WiFi freezes on the N7000B, would it use a different WiFi chip or something? I did hear that the N7000B supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz where the N7000 supports 2.4 only. Not sure if this is true
Hi, I've had the n7000B for awhile now. and flashed most of the firmwares from n7000 model with no problems. been on GB, ICS. all spec about these models are the same. but still haven't found out why this is B on our model.
anyway it is safe to flash n7000 on n7000b!
my new Samsung note has just had a update today with new firmware, my Original is in my profile. It showed you because its the latest F/W for your location. As far as rooting, simple search would do.Go to dev section and search.Or read this.
Basically, most ota updates will lose root. Safest way to keep root on update is use mobile Odin on device and download update package from samfirmware or Dr. Ketans guide.

if you update your i9305 via ota update or kies, you will get the knox bootloader (new bootloader since 4.3) and that crap is nothing but a pain in the ass!! read about KNOX here. I dont recommend updating to official 4.3 for now with ota or kies, instead of that use a custom stock rom 4.3 from any developer on the development thread of i9305 without knox. but first ask in the thread of the rom, if you will get knox by flashing it? knox itself is removed from those custom 4.3 roms but still i dont know for sure, i have the new bootloader with knox myself unfortunately
all this time since im on knox bootl. ive had no problems actually with the knox bootloader in all that custom roms/kernels/recoveries flashing etc. but some do have and maybe you will too...(i hope not of course, if you do update to official 4.3) but you are warned!
the problem is that I haven't getting any updates till now as my mobile is from oman nd im in india.....
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/rom-galaxy-s3-lte-jb-4-3-mod-t2607321
I'm also on 4.1 jb... and will try that as well...
Update to 4.3 isnt worth at all.
Well configured 4.1.2 with some useful application is much better.
I just recently updated my s3 to 4.3 and the knox app isn't installed its just a link to install it should I install it or not

I am still on 4.1, but as far as I know, the problem is not the Knox app, but the Bootloader for 4.3, which has Knox installed. Which means that you void your warranty if you install custom roms after updating to stock 4.3. Like MaHo said, read Here
The better advice would be to flash some custom K.K. 4.4.4 rom instead. It has A LOT more improvements than 4.3.
Update
Update to 4.3 isnt worth at all.
I'm trying to use the firmware I downloaded in sammobile.com
along with Odin 3.11.1 to put the G900M firmware in a G900A .
I tried it for nationalize this device that I bought in the US and does not come with the Portuguese/BR language.
It is possible?
I read something about using a backup with EFS. but I need to do root and a lot of things. Only with the Odin I could?
Thanks!
I think you will brick your device if you flash a FW that is not meant for your device.
Realy Sensei22? Maybe using a diferent version like g900F...
Or a alternativa ROM like cyanogen... Cold you recomend anyone?
don't flash anything that was not meant to be for your phone. CM will require root access, so if you are already on 5.0 or above there is just no way to do it.
Really, you will brick your device. The at&t models are bootloader locked. Flashing other ROMs will brick.

Thank you guys for the tips! I was frustrated, but ok!:crying:
If anyone knows of any good ROM for the 900A ...
Or since I have no way to remove the applications from AT & T ... if someone at least know of any tutorial to add the Portuguese language to the device ...
Thank you!

If it's still on KitKat, there's the possibility of root. Then you can run a custom ROM from the SD card.

Hi. To root G900A follow this link: (from android 4.4.2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900and3tong3keeprootota-zip-t2862299
I'm using an unlocked ATT phone on T-mobile, so I don't get updates.
However, everybody assumes is easy to install new firmware after rooting, but I just can't find good step by step instructions on how to update my phone to lollipop. I neet to preseve the root after updating, and ideally get rid of all the ATT bloatware. Unbraded firmware will be ideal, but I can't find lucid comments regarding on how to do it, and if it possible in the ATT 900A.
Thanks.
