[Q] Prevent shutting down Xperia Z when passcode lock is on - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks,
I'm wondering is there out any soft whom can prevent someone else from powering off my mobile without entering a pass-code to do it, the idea is to prevent the thief from powering off my mobile, If my Xperia Z is stolen and the thief shut the phone down, I wouldn't be able to locate it anymore.
So, is it possible to disable the possibility to shut down the phone when a pass-code lock is set up?
If I set up a pass-code lock I expect that it will not let anybody (thieves for example) turn it off unless the correct code is entered. Basically if the phone gets turned off, it cant be tracked anymore so chances of getting it back are close to 0.
I know that there are software's out there for Iphones and it works like PowerGuard or Cylay etc....

Well.. I dont think there's a way to disable the volup + powerbutton shutdown and "battery pull", but it is possible with xposed modules like gravitybox and "advanced power menu" to disable the power off / reboot entries in the power menu while on lockscreen. That way, any thief would have to know the volup + powerbutton thing, to shut off the phone.

Well, thank you buddy, I installed it "advanced power menu" and it works perfectly on my Xperia Z. I know, you are right it will not prevent a hight end tech thief from shutting it down but by 60% you will have a chance to do something to get back your phone, especially that a big majority of thieves are not that so high end tech to do hardware reboot/shutdown.

How Do I Shut Down My Tilt???

i was writing up some .ink for my tilt and i pretty much remapped everything all the buttons. and now i have remapped the power button to activate a program pxshut to shut down my device. but every time i would to use that to shut down it would just go into hibernate, it wouldnt turn off the device.
now i am worried that my tilt has been on for weeks, but i have been soft resetting it consistently though
can anyone help my find the **** down ink or a program that can actually shut down my device?
Take out the battery
Lol! Great answer. Removing the battery will most certainly turn off yer device. On the other hand, here is a link for you on how to reassign the buttons Write here if you need more help, Chicken.

hey thanks for the help guys, i was actually trying to avoid the battery removal.
i already know how to reassign buttons, i am trying to find out how do you restore a shut down button to shut down your device.
you tried press&hold of the power button, until the shutdown dialog is displayed?
i think pdas cannot be shutdown completely.
there always be a little energy from backup battery (am i right?)
so when you turn your pda off, you just hybernate it.
long press power (suspend) button
No, firstbuddha is right, to actually turn off your Tilt all you need to do is hold down the standby button, and ok the dialogue that pops up. The device is properly shut down then, not just suspended. It'll reboot the next time you press the button.
actually that wont work, because like i said in my first post i reporgrammed the long and shortt power button to do something else. and now there is no way to shut down the tilt.
so i was wondering can anyone direct me to the ""shutdown.ink" or the thing that i can program my button to shut down the tilt, or at least start up the shut down dialoge
use 3rd party software.
hold on, i'll find you something

PowerOff Shortcut
Hi dude
You don't need any app, try to make this shortcut (.lnk):
31#"\Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe" /ExitWindowsEX (EWX_SHUTDOWN, NULL)
than rename it how you want and put it wherever!

X1 Auto Key Lock?

Hey I was hoping that someone new of a registry setting or 3rd part app that I could use to automatically lock the keys of my X1 after a minute or so.
I can only find the option to do it with a password in the standard settings and I'm sure that would get annoying after a while so I was hoping to do one without, just like that standard key lock.
Any ideas?
For me after one minute it will lock automatically and can only restore it with the power button (can lock the keys manually by pressing the power button key too).
See Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced
Tick the second option and set your preferred time.
Do you mean the lock function from holding down the end call button?

Exactly, I would prefer that to the setting to turn the screen off and only being able to turn it on via the power button, if possible
Something like this. Have not tried it myself

Sorry if this isn't what you are after, but...
Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advance
On battery power:
[x] Turn off device if not used for: [3 min \/]
Start -> Settings -> System -> Key Lock
When device is in Sleep mode:
(x) Wake up the device by pressing the POWER button
...results in my phone going to sleep after 3 mins of no use, with the only way to wake it by pressing the power button (or to have an incoming call)

Yeah in those 3 minutes the screen takes any touch as an input though, while being in your pocket.
I don't get it, if you hold down the close call button the phone locks itseld and you get a click here to unlock screen if you touch the screen. Why can't the X1 have an option to enable this after x seconds?
Hell, my T630 has that.

What's wrong with the power button lock? It is almost the same, the difference is that you don't have to touch the screen to unlock but press the power button.
I don't understand at all this topic. The topic starter said he wants a lock without pressing anything after one minute. The solution provided by me and artesea is exactly that. Again the only difference is the unlocking method which instead using the screen you press the power button.
People are quite finicky these days....
I find this annoying also.
I now have to lock my phone (holding down the end call button) and then push the off button when I put it in my pocket. Would be better if theres an auto screen off and keyboardlock when you push the off-button.
Sorry, do we have different phones??????
To "lock" my phone I press the Power button, everything goes dark and I can put it in my pocket, doesn't matter if I hit the call button or tap the screen, the only way to "unlock" the phone is to press the Power button again.
If I forget to press the Power button after 3 minutes (but you can set this as low as 40 seconds) it "locks" the phone for me.
No need to press the End Call, or tap on the today screen.

I used to just press the power button and put the phone to sleep too... but then after a could long flight I found out that 1) if I put my phone in my jeans' front pocket (or actually... anywhere that have a chance to bump the power button), I can hit the power button and 2) once I hit the power button, the phone wakes for a couple hours trying to search for the network in the sky... and thanks god the plane didnt crash because of that but it did drain all the battery
I dunno if you have seen this too, but I realized that happened to me a couple times (not only on the plane but when I was walking as well) and eventually I decide I will hit the end call button to lock the phone before I hit the power button
this also happened when I had S2U2 installed... but since I didnt find it too useful (very nice if you want a iphone feel... but I already had an iphone for too long =P) and I dont want another application running in the background I decided to use the lock button instead
I was looking for automatic keylock too .. and then I too relized I don't need it ! Automatic screen-off is all I need.
For everyone who doesnt understand this thread, hold down the end call button and wwatch what happens.
The benefit is that yiu can see updates, email, sms, etc because the screen remains on for a while.

When i long hold the cut-call button, (which also has a lock icon on it) to happen automatically and is there a setting anywhere???
Try TouchLockPro, ever the best, even if just a few function is working on Xperia.
But actually this is what you are looking for.

[Q] Completely disable the Power Off

Is there a way to disable the force reboot when pressing the power off button for a long time? I can disable the power off buttons function for click and long press, but if i press long enough the phone reboots .. I want to use this phone as my alarm with another app and i don't want to be able to turn off the phone at all. The only thing that should be able to turn it off should be the battery..
Is there a way to achieve this?

connect a speaker to it and place it somewhere you need a stair to reach.
I think this long-press reboot is hardcoded into somewhere in the phone, it isn't an Android thing.
You can long-press reboot even before Android fires up.

Xposed does not adjust that...

[Q]Xposed module for fake shutdown makes buttons unresponsive

Im looking for a xposed module that would let me have a fake shutdown but that would leave the phone running without turning on the screen even when pressing buttons.
I tried the advanced power menu+ and it does have a fake shutdown, but after the 10s of (fake)shutting down message, if i press the home button on my s5, the screen still lights up and shows the pattern to unlock.
What i wanted is one that after showing that message and shuts down the screen, it doesn't light up again when pressing the home or side buttons and the only way to restart it is to remove the battery /pressing the power button for a few seconds or something along those lines, that way in case the phone is stolen the thief will think its off and i will still be able to track it for a while longer. Is there a module for that?
Thanks!

Hi. I'm the developer of Advanced Power Menu+. Actually my module has this feature. Just go to the details page of the fake power off option, tick the "Put device into screen-off death" checkbox and reboot. Then whenever someone presses the fake power off option, the screen cannot be turned on again even you press the buttons.
Let me know if this feature works on your S5 (I haven't tested on any S5). You can continue the discussion at the dedicated thread for the module, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/advanced-power-menu-apm-t2842792.

Will do and use the other thread. Thanks!
I had actually noticed that option but it showed the disclaimer and since i wasnt sure what it was, i pressed 'cancel'. So i will try it.
Btw, your module is very neat and i really like the ui, so if this works on the s5, perfect
Edit: it works on the s5. I posted about it on the module thread

Disabling power button (short/long press) on lockscreen.

Are there any solutions to disable volume and power button in lockscreen? I know there's an app which *tries* to hide the power menu, that doesn't seem to be secure enough, since long pressing still shuts down the phone.
Recently lost a phone (and successfully retrieved it, thanks to surveillance camera). The phone in question was secured with lockscreen, and it came back factory reset, ready to be sold in stolen phone market, which led me to finding ways upping my phone security.
Now, suppose I have tracker apps installed on my Note 5, it would rely on WiFi or mobile network to be traceable, and so far the only loophole I can find is:
1. Wrap the phone in tinfoil, all signal is lost.
2. Blocks speaker with thumb to muffle any alarms I set off
3. Rush home before I enable any alarms or track location, get connected to PC and start tinkering with stuff.
4. Keeps screen on until battery dies.
5. Or, just simply hold the power button.
With the Note 5, taking out the battery is out of question, which is a good thing in this case, (although not so good for a bricked phone with dead power button).
So, the next sensible option is to turn off the phone by long pressing power button, which is not exactly a hard thing to do.
Any other ideas would be appreciated. (I still don't fully understand how hard/easy it is to factory reset the phone with lockscreen on.)
You can disable power button on lock screen through an option in Wanam xposed or GravityBox.
But you can not prevent combo buttons to force phone turn off/reboot like Power + Volume down
