Depends on what ROM you are using? Because in Nova there is a setting for transparent nav and status bar.

Look for status bar tint.An xposed module which gives you control of changing colors of status bars. Set it to transparent.
I am using gravity box from xposed module..
Works perfectly..

I installed the GMD new version,it works by hiding the status bar but I found out some problems,I mean when I am for example with internet browser in full screen, after a few seconds the 7.7 goes to standby mode and after a while, the screen comes on asking to move the finger as we do when want to recover from standby mode.
Did try with latest boat browser 4.0 full screen no problem after few 5min. Set off screen timing to 2min?

Now that the gmd gesture control app has been updated and the hide status bar option has been removed which is only avaliable for the payed version now what other options do you have to hide the status bar?

Its just part of refactoring process. Now I'm working on free app for status bar hiding that will serve as R&D ground. Nothing fancy, just 2 buttons to hide and show status bar, but if you used Lite just to hide bar then separate app will be event better. I will publish it when its ready (should be couple of days).
Did check others but to no valid, guess only GMD ^^

Backup in recovery first then flash either of these - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44237288&postcount=276
As for the app tray icon, the easiest way of changing it is to install a custom launcher such as Nova Launcher, then you can install icon themes or use your own icons.

At 25 it should be tiny! Are you talking about the width of the nav bar?
Sorry meant notification bar.

Try gravity box..

You are confusing us.
You want transparent status bar, and on screenshot it is transparent. And then you started to talk about navigation buttons.
Try: Settings/Pac-Man/Navigation Bar and remove it.

Do as @shut_down said or use any build.prop editor and edit the following line qemu.hw.mainkeys=0.(Here change 0 to 1)
I can not make clear the status bar at the same time that would not vylizla navigation panel, and this panel I do not need
