There are a fair amount of foreign language options for the Sense keyboard but to my amazement there is no Japanese. There is the Google IME that can be downloaded from the Play Store and while tolerable, Sense does not make it easy to switch to it. I either have to have yet another icon in my status bar as an IME switcher or pull down settings and change it in the Language menu every other time I get a message.
There has to be something floating around that I can install, I'm sure it's in the HTC J ROM's but I don't know enough to extract it myself. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it, I love this phone and the Sense (to my surprise) but this is really killing me.

I love the AOSP build, but I'd like to change some of it...
Is it possible to get the sense keyboard on it (I HATE the vanilla one)?
And how do I remove the background on the lockscreen?
thanks for any help!

I believe to do much of this you need to modify the source. For the Sense keyboard you need the HTC frameworks which essentially makes the system an HTC Sense system anyway. I know back in the day Cyanogen released an HTC_IME.apk that would work standalone but I never got it to work on AOSP.
For the lockscreen, I believe this is part of the AOSP source as well but someone will need to confirm that for me.

I figured that much. I just don't know what .apk's to push. I flashed the signed IME from that new thread about stock Rosie, but it did nothing
I figure the lockscreen is just an image somewhere that I need to edit. I know the 2.1 build has a clear vanilla lock.
What don't you like about the keyboard? I think its just as good as the HTC one. Once you get the dictionary working properly that is. I posted up a thread just the other day on predictive text. Flips sent a link where you can get an updated IME file. Check it out. If you're still not happy, check out better keyboard apk from the market.

the layout is WAY off. and, the lack of a 'keyboard close' button, i cannot stand. plus, with the HTC one, i don't have to hit a button to get to my punctuation...
i've flashed the IME and that helped (i'm glad he had all the curse words. lol) but i'm still against the general layout...
i'm in love with the AOSP because its so minimal on the system memory that it makes my phone quick as lightning. i just want a clear lock screen and the Rosie keyboard...
Hi,
Im trying to figure out if the built in LG keyboard has any form of prediction built in. I'm currently writing in Danish and I miss the HTC IME excellent text prediction. I can see the right word in the bar but it doesn't auto correct?
Can this be enabled in some way or do I need to hunt down a keyboard replacement?
I tried the stock keyboard and had the same issue, it does kind of pretend but it sucks ass. That's why I installed the Gingerbread keyboard from Android market (link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free&feature=search_result ), with the language pack you need, it works great
So i would like to know is it posible to theme the cyanogen mod keybaord to something else? Cause its rly awfull looking to me And i cant rly use an other because of the dictionary
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Or maybe increase its size?
I must agree with Rockeer, further noting that on my HTC Aria that the keyboard takes up so much screen that I cannot see what I am doing, and I cannot find any settings to change the UI without disabling predictive words (which I use heavily). I am hoping that there is an htc_ime keyboard that can be installed that works with CM7, but even changing the UI would be great!
Thanks in advance!
Found this by accident last night while browsing.....it's an online Kitchen for making you own Custom Keyboard.
It's one of the most easy to do things i've come across...and totaly AWESOME!!
You can choose from a LOAD of pre-made themes made by other XDA members & web users, or, make you own.
Nothing technical to download, just pick what colour you what, pick what transparency you want, colour and type of keys, colour and style of lettering/numbers etc etc.
Even add your own custom image on the space-bar etc.
Option to"Choose a preset skin to begin with"
or
"Create a custom keyboard skin from scratch"
Trust me, if i can do it..ANYBODY can....when you're finished choosing your colours and pics and other customizations, just click "Generate Keyboard"
Then it will give you the option to download via a clickable link, or scan it direct to your phone via a barcode.
Try it out - it's very good.
all you have to do is register (free) takes about 20 seconds.
Then install the finished keyboard APK.
DONE.
I'm using [21 Feb] [Sense 3.5] Energy™RCMix 4.0 Energized BLUE Edition Rom, and it works perfect, but should work with zero problem on 99.9% of other Rom keyboards.
Just obviously, make a backup first, just in case.
Here are some examples i've made in literally seconds.
Go here to check it out http://www.gimpsta.com/themer/main.php
PS: All credit goes to 'gIMpSTa' who made this possible...

my curent keyboard for the Energy Rom I'm using:
Is it possible to switch between QWERTY and QWERTZ keyboard or it is just design ? Because if i choose my language there will be QWERTY keyboard and we use QWERTZ
Is it possible to generate one with arrows????
That would be great!!!

Hi!
I am not entirely happy with neither the stock keyboard (space bar to narrow, I.keep.hitting.period.instead) nor the Google keyboard whch is available on the Play Store (umlauts (äöü) need left or right swipes to get to because the numbers are the standard option after a longpress). However, the Cyanogenmod Keyboard fulfills both requirements.
Could someone please pull the Textinput.apk from a CM-Rom so I can replace the Google one with the CM Keyboard? Or better yet, compile the APK for me to be installed independently? I would very much apreciate the effort!
EDIT: Just tried it myself, downloaded CM, copied it to SD, installed. But the numbers are still default on a long press. Could someone please change the keyboard language to German and longpress o and u? see if 7 and 9 are the default longpress letters? thank you!
