[Q] Transferring photos from EVO 3D to HTC M8 - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Would I need to convert my MPO files to JPG first (Or just rename them to JPG...) or would the M8 be able to open MPO files? Yes yes, I know of course it can't view them in 3D, but would it still be able to open them at all and display in image galleries, or do I need to rename them all to JPG first?

Isn't there an option to make them 2D in the 3D's options? If not you can just have them uploaded to Google + then re-download them. Or a PC app can convert them for you.

Try this application looks like it might do the trick https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.suto.stereoroid you need pro to save high Definition but it all depends on I'd you need high Def or not.
Or if you have a PC here is a free app http://www.paulplowman.com/software/mpotojpg.htm

The issue isn't how to convert them if I need to, I am going to be using a new MicroSD card for my M8, so if I need to convert them I was planning to jut copy them over to the M8's SD card, then rename them all to .JPG since an MPO file appears to just be two JPGs in one and every app I have seen, phone or PC, thought it was a JPG when I renamed them and had no issues handling them.
I just wanted to know if the M8 could actually read the MPO file format or not so I wouldn't even need to rename them and it would be better able to handle the data within the files. I can convert them easily, but would rather not if the M8 won't have any issues reading the file format in the first place.

IDK If I do not know where all my 3d pictures are from my EVO 3D but if you want you can email one to me and I will let you know if they work or not.

Ok, sending now.
By the way, which folder does the M8 store it's own photos in? Is it "/dcim/100MEDIA" like on the EVO 3D?

Yea the same folder.
So interestingly when I download them it tells me nothing can open them. So I moved them to DCIM/100MEDIA and opened the camera and I could not click to gallery I had to take a picture then it would let me and I could see 2 out of the 3 pictures you sent me.
2 Pictures of grates.
Going to try a few more things.

I too wondered this and wanted to see if it worked. I have had the same storage card for a few years so I have had my EVO 3D pics still in the DCIM folder. The gallery on the M8 can see the pictures but I cannot get them to look 3 dimensional or find settings for this.

That's because the M8 does not have a parallax barrier 3D screen like the EVO 3D does, it's physically impossible to see the 3D effect on a M8. The "3D" effect on the M8 is something completely different, it's altering/skewing the angle of a 2D image, not displaying a 3D image steroscopically like the EVO 3D does.
But wait a minute, so you're saying the MPO files had no issues loading on the M8? How did you put them on your phone? Did you use any transfer/backup tool or service, or just pop the sd card from your EVO 3D into the M8?

It loads like all other picture, it is located in /storage/ext_sd/dcim/100media . In details it states its a mpo file and can be edited (i resized one and cropped it).

Zoe and Dropbox compatibility

So after having this phone for a day I have discovered some quirks. One of which is when using zoe it takes 20 stills and a 3 second video clip but the stills dissapear somewhere into a black hole as can't find them on the phone.
However when I plug the phone into my desktop they show up where expected in the DCIM folder.
So I thought well what does dropbox do to manage the zoes. Answer NOTHING !
I checked my dropbox and have over 100 zoes in a folder so now I have turned off instant upload as I ser this as a headache to manage my photos.
Let me know if any of you guys have some workarounds for the above two issues.

Yeah it's a pain with Dropbox, I don't know how it can be managed.
On the phone, you can just scroll through the Zoe clip and see each individual still, so it's well managed.

This is really a BIG PROBLEM for me!! When i use Zoe feature it spams my dropbox to death...
I have hundreds of pictures which are nearly all the same and i have to delete them manually in dropbox... such a pain!
I know. Stupid HTC !!

Or turn off automatic photo up load to drop box and manually select the photo to up load

[Q] Viewing Imported Photos in Gallery

I am coming from a One X (att) and I dropped all of my photos from my One X into the 100 Media folder of my One.
When I go into my gallery, I can only see like 2 of these pics along with the photos that I have taken on my One.
Any way to be able to see all my photos in the gallery?

seems like your having a similar issue to me. Would you mind downloading an image off the net from your phone and saving it to your downloads and see if it appears in gallery?
Just downloaded this and it showed up fine...

Sucks for me. :/ Can't get anything to appear in my gallery besides screenshots and camera taken pictures. It sucks. Have no idea what to do.

Well... good news is... it's trivial... I am sure it will get worked out by someone non-noobish (not me) soon.
In the meantime... badass phone
go to "my photos" then change it to "albums"
Tried this... No joy.

HTC One Zoe limitations

I realised that Zoe video only allows 13 contents to be used
Is there any way to select more than 13 contents?

I dont think there is a way....
My question: Is there a way to choose Zoe contents from the WHOLE gallery and not just from the automatically compiled albums based on "locations" or "events"?
I think it's really annoying, because sometimes content is sorted into a location folder, sometimes into another event (where just the date is shown), even if all the pics where taken on the same day. This means that i cant make a combined zoe... At least I dont know how
I know that we can merge the contents from one folder to another..
You may want to to do.. Tedious though..
But to limit to 13 contents is really too little..

Yes Merge and Split options are there and its a good way or organising whole library. It is true that current limitation of 13 pics is low, however it seems the restriction is due to limitation on video time- 30 seconds. The "select content" option is not currently working. Once this option is working, Zoe can be created from any selected 13 pic within an Event.

Yep, it doesn't work. When selecting content it still randomly plays whatever it wants to.
BTW it is intentionally designed to be based on your 'Events', it's meant to be a quick little video montage of your day out or a birthday party that can easily be shared online or emailed/messaged. While it would be nice to have a fully fledged video editing suite it was designed like this for simplicity.
I hope that ZOE's get an upgrade in the future.. would love longer ZOE's and maybe setup the order of appearance...
Or maybe just find out how to make them using a video editor...

Yup.
Any software that creates video the same way as Zoe? I am clueless when it comes to video editing

I don't mean to dredge this post out after such a long lack of replies, but I thought it was better than starting an entirely new post. I posted about this issue and am looking for a solution. [Q] Where does the new htc camera (android 4.2.2) store the htc zoe sequence data?

I'm using trickdroid which is Android 4.2.2 and in that rom HTC fixed the auto upload to google+ and others. Now only one video and one photo is uploaded. My file eplorer (es explorer) also only shows one video file and one photo file. I think that the other 20+ photo's are saved somewhere else but I can't find them. I would like to use them to make an animated gif.
Does anybody know where the new htc camera (on android 4.2.2) stores the htc zoe sequence data?

Are you sure this is how 4.2.2 zoe works? If it is then cool! This was my feature request months ago! And if it was indeed my idea they implemented it should be packed in a single file archive.

Well, since HTC seems to listen to you, can you request a save as gif feature?

Sorry but I don't understand Why use gif when you already have an mp4 version? gif has so many licenses when used so most manufacturers hardly implement it in their ROMs. So I doubt HTC would make such feature as doing so would require them to purchase a license.
Ok i just like the way it looks in my google+ albums

I am using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwyLDEsInJvbWFuMTAudmlkZW8udmlkZW90b2dpZiJd
to convert my zoe videos to animated gifs. It works well, it's free. It's not as easy as having google automagically do it but I'll take it.
Did anybody find out so far where the sequence data of zoe is stored on the new firmware?
I searched and searched, but did not find it...
Hope to know where the squence file locate
hope to know also..anyone have dig out the folder they used?thanks a lot..

How to hide files?

So in short I have a couple of revealing pics of my girlfriend and a movie of her stripping, LOL... On my old phone I was able to make a folder, place a file in there called .no media and it would hide everything...
The .nomedia works for the pictures now but the one video still appears. How can I hide this as well?

Rename the extension of the video to something that isn't a video. e.g. .mpg to .bak
use root explorer to open when you want to watch -> open with certain app.
Yea no problem, I'll go ahead and send them right to you... Will the movie still work if I rename it to a .back file?

Apps use extensions to identify what files they should open, they do not mean that they can only open those files. So yes, just rename, open it with, and then pick your favorite video app.
I would like to know also. on the g3, i was able to lock the pictures/videos with a password. Im sure there are many apps that can do this, but which is the best?
Such a hassle. Renaming it didn't work I'm not sure why. I just deleted it. I see my girlfriend without clothes on enough anyways
