I have been hearing news about the hearbleed bug in cell phones, So today I downloaded an app from the playstore that detects if your phone is/have bug, the link to the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout.heartbleeddetector I have also attached screenshot's below that says about OpenSSL is affected by the bug and some info about my phone. I am on stock rooted using faux kernel. I think that it is important to our developers to know about this....:good:
"Android
All versions of Android are immune to CVE-2014-0160 (with the limited exception of Android 4.1.1; patching information for Android 4.1.1 is being distributed to Android partners)."
Moto X has Android 4.4.2. We are not affected by this bug.

While the Moto X uses a vulnerable version of OpenSSL, it's not configured in a way that allows someone to trigger the bug.

I have HTC Desire C and have installed whats-app in it. I have a limited prepaid internet plan. The problem is even after disabling the update option from Google play, it still keeps automatically updating itself each time a new Whats-app release comes.
Also I have disabled android updates from settings menu, but still, once in a month or so a small update gets downloaded automatically, without showing any notice.
I have also installed Android firewall to stop applications from updating itself on my prepaid plan and only update if wi-fi is on. Still the above problem remains.
I bought the phone a few months back and have only installed whatsapp and a few games from google play so no virus problem also.
I don't understand why this is happening. Please help.

Check if your play store is upto date...the latest version is 4.4.21...you can google and download the apk
Ok, I will check the google play version and try to install the latest one. After installing this latest version of Google Play I'll have to wait till the next update of whatsapp, only then will I come to know whether it has stopped updating itself automatically or am I still facing the same problem.
Till then I have to wait and will update you if I get the problem again.
Check Whatsapp See if that has a auto update feature
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
No, any of the software's that we download doesn't have an auto update option disabling feature in them. I tried to search my phone if by any chance I could find out the auto update file of whatsapp and then delete it, but culdn't find any files.
I would like to know, if we want to see the installation files of any software on our android phone, by connecting it to the computer, how can we do it.

I have been running stock since day one and yet I see on the phone RootPA. Anyone have any idea what this app is and what it does?
It has something to do with the mobicore security system it's supposed to be there.

What do you mean by "it does not work"? What are you trying to use it for? It only works when you install an app that uses the TEE. And it is only needed at install. And the app vendor needs to have a deal with the company (TSM) that is allowed to do provisioning.
idk why this kind spy apps need internet use(For FAKE update purpose,But Already ur firmware will update all of those apks by their new firmware verion, and im not beliving they just update itself, but they update your infos in GOOGLECLOUD
I went and downloaded newer versions of Google Play services from apk mirror and now keep getting a permissions notification.
What version are you running on your stock att branded nexus 6 and do you have the apk?
Thanks.
I have the moto version and mine came with 6.1.84. I installed 6.5 but it caused my Google Inbox to stop working along with GPM. I'm just going to wait for it to update on its own
Attached a pic of the updated version I have on my N6 (from T-Mobile). Should be the same across carriers, but someone with an AT&T version can confirm. Also, this version is giving me huge battery drain (either first or second on the list in settings). No other issues besides that though.

Stock. 6.1.88 Att no issues with battery drain. Doesn't even show up on my battery use and all options are on.
Mine is running 6.1.88 -736! Looking at Google's explanation of the - XYY version, this doesn't make any sense! This is a stock ATT N6. I have only unlocked the bootloader.
I really wonder if it is on the 736 version because I bumped my Nexus 4 running lollipop for the initial setup. I have thought about flashing the factory lrx21o image and seeing what happens...
Shouldn't I have 738 or something? A

Updated via the play store or did you manually update it?
Manually updated by downloading the apk
Someone with the stock version, do you think you could download the apk so I can flash the stock one? I want to avoid having to reflash the whole boot image just for the stock version, and I can't find the apk anywhere else.

Disable the play services then downgrade it to the stock version and re-enable it.
Here is a link to the stock one that's on my phone (I didn't post the apk)

I am hoping to install moto g (2014) with cyanogenmod rom because of some reasons, and I am curious whether the google play allows users to use the applications given by Motorola to be installed inside Cyanogenmod rom.
Thank you

unfortunately no ..
I'm not running a Cyanogenmod rom and don't plan to but I'm wondering if the Motorola apps would sideload if the OP only wanted a few ew of them.

My wife's Moto X (2013) on VZW got the OTA to Lollipop last night, but today it keeps throwing an error "Update Google Play Services. Google Play services won't run unless you update Google Play services." If she follows the update link, it takes her to a blank page that has a retry button that doesn't do anything. I had her clear the Play cache and reboot, it re-compiled the apps but the phone still throws the same error message with the same result. She's on non-rooted stock (she doesn't like me messing with her gadgets too much ) so re-flashing is out of the question. I did a bit of research and found some suggestions out there that included attempting to side-load the latest Play services. Is this the best route to take or should I try something else instead? I got the newest Play services APK from Open GApps, so I know its safe, but if there is something else I can do to fix it without messing around with that I'd be a happy man.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
It gave me those errors also, but eventually the error messages went away after a few restarts. I also installed the newest Google Play Services downloaded from APKMirror so I can get Android Pay to work properly.

Was it a Moto X or your MAXX that it gave the error? When I get home tonight I'll try the side load to see if that fixes it.

Moto X DE updated to VZW LP 5.1 yesterday like everyone else. The MAXX is my daily driver and is running Exodus LP 5.1.1, never had the Google Play Services issue with this phone.

Is anyone else having the problem of NOT receiving OTA on DE VZW..
I'm running stock ROM with xposed I don't see why I wouldn't receive
No, it was immediate after I RSD'd back to stock. Was running AOSP 5.1.1 prior. The first was the small update then the 700mb main file. When I say immediate, it was almost as soon as the phone finished booting up. This is a VZW Moto X DE as well, so maybe try a factory reset.

After getting home, I looked at her phone and couldn't replicate the message. So I dug deeper and found that indeed the Play Services had updated itself to the newest release sometime between when she complained about the error and when I got home. So that solves that one. I did, however, side-load the latest Play Store app, for some reason hers was several versions out of date. While I don't doubt her phone would have automatically updated it eventually it did put my mind at ease. Thanks for your input on this one.

Thread hijack aside...it could be that it is being rolled out in waves and you aren't in one of the waves yet. I would try a reboot followed by going to settings > system > system updates > check for system updates.
