Hi,
Here is the situation.. I have an HTC One..
the hboot is still on 1.44 with s-on.
I want to flash the latest firmware, which is only possible with s-off.. problem is that I'm running a 4.4.2 ROM and trying revone throws an error as the ROM doesn't match the hboot.
Is there anyway I can get s-off easily? or do I have to hunt down a 4.1.2 ROM and flash that before trying to update the firmware?
You can try firewater
I had the same situation, trying to S-OFF with HBOOT 1.44. I was able to get revone's method to work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
The only issue I ran into is at step 4
4. Prepare to gain S-OFF by running the command: ./revone -P

It wouldn't work without root. I used firewater's temp root and it worked perfectly. I did not need my bootloader unlocked or my device rooted.

firewater was the first one I tried cause I'm accustomed to using it with the 1.55 and 1.56 hboot..
didn't work on this run.. and revone keeps failing..
Thinking i'll relock the bootloader and flash the stock ruu with the latest firmware and see if that gets me up to hboot 1.56 and then unlock the bootloader and try firewater again..
any thoughts on this procedure before I try it?

I would try a 4.1.2 rom before you wipe your device with the RUU.

Stock rooted should be fine.
Thanks guys.. managed to find a copy of ARHD 9.4
gave a little trouble to flash.. but finally got through with it and revone s-off worked perfectly after that.
Thanks for the assistance.

He probably got while still on hboot 1.44 (pre June 2013), and then just upgraded the firmware (including hboot to 1.54), that would not change S-Off status.

I guess it would be a good idea to post some pointers regarding this issue.
If you're s-on and on fw 1.54, you can't use revone to s-off.
Since you can't s-off, you are limited to flashing only RUUs that are compatible with your CID AND same or higher fw than you currently have on your device.
So to sum it all up, if you are on a higher fw than 1.44 and s-on, you are stuck there. The only possible way to s-off might be using a java card but I personally wouldn't go that way, even if you found some place that can do it.

So if going from 1.55 back to 1.44 is not possible. And Getting S-OFF with 1.55 is not possible.
Would Sprint be able to reflash my phone with either a working 1.55 or 1.44?

Try to s-off your phone with hboot 1.54 using rumrunner.
Alright, so my friend has an AT&T One and it had 1.26.502.10 firmware (like mine), but he had some camera issues... He decided to do all the modding (root, s-off, etc...) and upgraded to 4.2.2 firmware 2.24. His camera issues continue, and he plans on returning to 4.1.2 with the available RUU that returns the phone to 1.26.502.12. He is s-off, supercid, unlocked bootloader, rooted, running twrp 2.6.0.1 and is on stock rooted 2.24.401.1 Rom. I thought of just using that RUU to return him to fully stock, but since it has all the mods I'm not really sure if I should take another approach or other steps. Please help me out here, I don't wanna brick his phone (even though he's taking it to be replaced). Thanks in advanced!
just download this and run it
https://support.htc.com/en-us/010-H..._Maintenance_Release_Instructions_|_5.30.2013
he couldnt run this with out the mods
Just run the RUU, as he's S-OFF there should be no issues

There's the odd thread here and there saying if you're on the 1.54 HBOOT you need to downgrade to 1.44 before the RUU will work but try it first and see how you get on

Hmm, will I get a kind of error during the RUU process that might possibly brick the device or will it warn me before the RUU process starts? Can I and should I just flash the 1.44 RUU from fastboot before starting the RUU? The phone's on 2.24 right now with the modded 1.54 hboot (I know he first has to flash the original, but can/should he flash the 1.44 instead?).
EDIT: As far as I've read till now, the ones having errors were converted to Google Edition with GE hboot and all... I did read about 2 people (one with 2.17 and the other with 2.24 like my friend's phone) both on 1.54 hboot and it worked for both of em. I'm just gonna go ahead and flash the RUU on my friend's phone and hope for the best
When i bought my phone it had 1.31 on it. Its now unlocked and rooted running a 4.3 ROM. Can I use the 1.29 RUU to return to stock or do I need to wait for a 1.31 RUU? I tried searching but I'm still confused. I'd like to install 1.29 to gain s-off. Thanks in advance.
See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821
S-Off using Revone and also use Revone to return bootloader to Locked and not Relocked or Tampered. Then you can run RUU to anything you want. Once you run RUU don't bother returning your device to S-On because in case you ever want to run a previous RUU again you can without issue until you return to S-On and at the same time you don't need root to return to S-On

Thanks for the quick replies. So revone will work on 1.31? Or do i have to follow the instructions in the link posted above? I thought I had to relock my bootloader then flash the 1.29 RUU to be able to use revone. One of the posters in the link above said he didn't have to downgrade from 1.31 to get s-off. My main reason for wanting s-off it to flash radios and firmwares. If i can use revone on 1.31 it would be much easier.
No, you do not need to downgrade from 1.31 to get S-Off using Revone. Just use the instructions in the Revone thread to get S-Off then use Revone to utilize the -t -l command to remove tampered and lock the bootloader instead of relocked and then run RUU. Flawless.

Thanks everyone. I tried revone with my phone running a 4.3 rom and it didnt work. I kept getting error 1 so I flashed ViperRom and went throught the steps again. I'm now s-off. Now I just need to learn how to flash the firmware and radios included in the 4.3 update. I'm used to my evo lte where i could just flash through twrp.
Trying to do S-off using Revone and I keep getting segmentation fault <core dumped> when I set revone - P.
The phone is hboot 1.44 and firmware 4.1.2 with software number 1.27.531.11. Its not rooted.
Do I have to root to get this to work or what could be causing the fault? I ran it 6 or so times. Maybe I should try going to 1.27.531.8?
Thanks.
If your hboot is dated after May, yes, try the older ROM. I think the temproot hack broke around that time.

I will see if I can find the older ROM. Would the temproot issue also be addressed by rooting first? I was trying to avoid that.
Or is better to upgrade to 1.54 and use rumrunner?

1- you have a patched hboot, you can downgrade and use revone, using this: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/96098-s-offdowngrade-12753111-to-1275318/
2- or you can use rumrunner, it also works on 1.44 as far as i know/seen

Sounds good. I will probably try the downgrade. Or is there a good reason to just root and go to rumrunner?

i guess it's two sides of the same coin.
the downgrade method (then revone) has been working fine from what i've seen on the forum.

i always had issues with temproot on revone. I s-offed 3 phones and all 3 times i rooted phone first and then revone - always worked in that order (dont worget to su in adb shell)
Now that rumrunner exists I wonder if its best to just let HTC/Tmobile update the phone to 4.3 and then use rumrunner to S-off?
Probably not.
(question) Prep for S-off gives segmentation fault
Hello, First post..
Well I'm having the same error as quite a few have had; I hit ./revone -P and ends up shortly at the segmentation fault without an error and defaults back to the dir in adb shell.
I have:
hboot 1.44
1.26.502.15 - firmware
4.1.2
hboot date: July 5. 2013
This like old firmware since I see many newer firmware having this issue. My m7 is an AT&T variation, does this make a diff to revone?
Any ideas what I need to do? I've read other solutions but those use a new firmware than I have, so do I need to update the firmware to make this work? Hummm
Thanks for any help, much appreciated..

Is your phone on the at&t network? If not you willl not receive ota updates and flashing ota update manually requires S-OFF. Try rumrunner S-OFF. Once S-OFF change your CID so you can flash the Dev edition RUU and receive ota updates normally.
My phone is AT&T but I can't update because I am not using the same carrier. Rumrunner will not work because my hboot 1.44.000 even revone didn't work. So please help me to make s-off

Then update your hboot to 1.54/.1.55 using a RUU
this one for example: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...3_10-38j-1157-04_release_334235_signed_2-exe/
Once the RUU is flashed (and hboot updated) unlock the bootloader, flash twrp recovery, root the phone and achieve s-off using rumrunner
Or you can buy sunshine s-off for 25 if you want to make it simple.
I tried with RUU flashs but also not working

What is the problem exactly when flashing the RUU?
Error 158. It doesn't flash. Taking in consideration that I'm choosing the right flash.
Is there any way to flash hboot alone or change cid with s-on,?
