[Q] Need Help creating a custom framework-res.apk for Cognition 2.1.4

I want to create a custom framework-res.apk for the Cognition 2.1.4 ROM that has colored icons in the settings menu. I can make the icons in Photoshop but I don't know how to extract the existing icons and insert the new icons in the framework-res.apk file. Does anyone know the procedure? I want to do something like Tayutama did for his ROM.

I extracted the framework-res.apk and can't find the Settings Menu Icons in that file. Are they in another file?

Thanks, I just copied the Settings.apk from your ROM to the \system\app folder on my phone using Root Explorer and know I have the colored icons I wanted.

nice you should release them so you can share your work with the community

This is the Settings.apk from Tayutama's I9000 Rom. This works on Cognition 2.1.4. Jus copy the SD card on your phone and then use Root Explorer to copy the file to the /system/app directory on your phone and reboot.
EDIT: Also works on Cognition 2.1.5

[REQUEST] Need Contacts.apk from GCR odexed for the GingerXperia V19 odex version

Hi all! My request is because of my ignorance...
Can someone post a odexed version of the contacts.apk (attached) to be used in GingerXperia v19? GX V19 is odexed and i can't simply do the classic copy+permissions like in a normal ROM (it didn't work)

Copy "Contacts.apk" to "system/app" + permissions and find "contacts.odex" delete it. reboot and enjoy!!!

[Q] LIVE WALLPAPER (System app)

Hello..
im now using CM 7.2 Stable, Firekernel (no OC) other than that its standart.
How i can add "live wallpaper .apk" ?? on system app? can u give me the system app live wallpaper..
cause i found a live wallpaper .apk and i take on system/app and change the permission to rw-r-r and after reboot didn't change anything...

You also need livewallpaperspicker.apk to get it working. So, see this attached file & copy/paste in/system/app & set its permissions as rw-r--r--.

oh yeah i have one question more can i deleted the stock gallery and replaced with quick pict ?? 'cause it more fast generated pict...

Yes U can. But try installing QuickPic as user app rather than just copy/pasting in/system/app b'coz there might be some issues with its lib files.(U need to place its lib files in/system/lib & change permissions accordingly to get QuickPic working...as system app). However, if u install it as a user app, it works without any headache.

where i can found a "lib" its inside of quickpic.apk ?? and if i just simply install quickpic and deleted stock galery it possibly force close happened ??
i deleted to safe a internal memory

Extract it & place lib files in /system/app & change permissions. If prob. still persists, install it as user app. Done!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Framework-res.apk for touchwiz revolutionised cm9 with navigation bar size 24dip

Got big navigation bar[height] in Touchwiz Revolutionised 5 Rom...
here i bring suitable Navibar Framework app...
Instructions:
Download apk..
load it to sdcard..
copy apk to System folder[use any file manager which can do this]..
now change the permissions to rw-r--r--[as that of other apks]..
move apk to framework folder..
reboot..
now enable navigation bar by adding " qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 "[without quotations] in build.prop file..
Reboot again..

Will this mod work on any ICS ROM Like This ROM? Also where exactly in the system folder we have to put this file in I guess its should go inside /system/framework. Correct me if I'm wrong

I think it wont work for the rom which you specified..[i am not sure]..
yea directly if you paste it in framework folder...previous framework of rom will be replaced which makes phone not to boot[reason:as permissions are not set correctly]..
so first paste it in System folder,change permissions and then move apk to framework folder.. reboot enjoy..

It'll work..but it'll contain tw files in it...it is a bad idea to paste directly....create a flashable package, nd flash it via recovery. naresh why don't you create flashable zip for it? Btw i am using 18dip...it is good too.

Yea 18dip looks better for mini.. okay i will try to release flashable zip..thanks for the suggestions..:good:

Looks like you are compressing it more.it may effect the performance and battery

I dont know after decompiling and compiling it again ,apk got compressed..
Performance is not bad it is running better in my phone..
and its Awesome rom from you..

1.Install Deodexd Firmware
2.Extract ICS Bars,Then Delete Framework Folder In It Again Make Zip and ReInstall Ics Bars Mod By Kenjboy **I Used V3 Swipe2Remove+Battery Percent**
If You See Your Status Bar Gone After Installing..Then Just Install 14-black toggles For Stock Rom...And After That Only Again Install The ICS Bars(The Zip Which You Made Just Recently ...Without Framework folder)
3.Use Root Explorer...Open Xduos V3 2.0 Custom Rom.Copy Framework.jar
System>Framework>framework.jar
Copy It To Anywhere On Sd Card
4.Now make Odex of Your Installed SystemUI By Apktool.apk
**Check For The Odex Files Below**
Extract The Required Zip File And rename it to SystemUI.odex
5.Copy The SystemUI.odex File In System/app/Here **No Need Of Setting Permissions**
6.Then Now Make Flashable Zip Of framework.jar Extracted From Xduos Rom and Install It Through CWM
**Or Else You Use Root Explorer To Move It In System/framework/Here
It Will Replace The Stock Framework**No
7.Now Its All Done ..Just Reboot Into Recovery....And Flash Rom-Odexer-For Galaxy Y's Script...Which Will Odex Your Stock Rom For More Free Internal Space..
