You'll have to uninstall your root apps, then flash under ODIN the official stock firmware, download from here
I first deactivate my modules under Xposed framework, then uninstall them, then I defrost all apps in TiBU, then I use the prepare for full unroot in SuperSU and then I uninstall the root apps. Finally I do a full wipe of SD (back your stuff up of course) and reset the phone, then I turn it off and flash the stock fw.

Try turning it off and back on, do another full reset, repeat and then flash stock fw once again...
I managed to successfully update to KK from having rooted my SGS4A SGH-i537 JB 4.3 with Sunderwear's method, flashing with ODIN 3.09 back to stock from the official FW here, downloaded from here [I537UCUBML2 (includes all files).7z]

Yeah I left my sim card in, wiped my SD card with the reset etc. Now, did you do the uninstall "prepare for full unroot" option in SuperSU, generally doing what I did to double cover myself? I'm thinking, though this may be a tedious way of doing it but make sure you're all reset to stock as you may be, then do a full reset including the formatting the SD card, then do a re-root, then unroot as I do and try that.

Hi all. I've got two VZW LG G2s that are rooted, and the current KitKat update continues to download and fail. Is there any way to force the update?
VZW support suggests a factory reset and I dont' want to do that for sure.

If you need the stock recovery back, easiest thing to do is wipe the phone back to stock using the flashtool then let it take the OTA, you can re-root with ioroot25 afterwards and if you need TWRP, re-install it with AutoRec.

Most of it's listed in there. Use AutoRec to install TWRP, you can find it in the regular G2 Dev section.
A good friend asked me to root his note 3, he was on mj5 at the time, everything worked like a charm using vroot. Now he wants to update to kitkat so i downloaded the rom file and odin files from another thread thinking it would be easy,i looked at his build and fimware and its nb4 now but still android version 4.3 so i tried to install safestrap says it installs but wont boot into it so i backed everything up using titanium and factory wiped it from the actual recovery still no luck how can i update this thing

Yeah no luck lost root odin keeps failing I told him to just bring it back to at&t and have them try to update it he still has warranty thank you though for all the help
For anyone who doesn't wanna wait for the OTA to hit your phone (because some phones might take awhile) just download this file and place it on your EXTERNAL SD CARD and then power off your phone and boot into stock recovery and apply update from external sd card.
You must be on unrooted stock NAE ROM and stock recovery to take the OTA update.
Also if your phones fails to update the baseband then just use Odin to flash the MK2 modem and then reflash the NAE modem and take the OTA again (that worked for me)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1u83mpbu2j18qbp/Update.zip
Also you might need a computer to place the file on your external sd card because of the "Write to sd card issue" that was introduced in the Kitkat update.
I am rooted and i want this update.... How to do that?
Are you on stock recovery? What is your full setup and what mods do you have installed?
Worked perfectly. Updated baseband as well.
I was able to move the zip from internal memory to SD card using the stock My Files app as well.
Thanks @churchey360

Itll probably update you to the KNOX bootloader by doing the OTA.
Easiest way to do the update is to flash the rooted stock NAE ROM that Unknown Force posted, then flash mf9 recovery, go into supersu app and do a full unroot then reboot and follow the OP.
Also you can flash the NAE .tar file with Odin but you will get the KNOX bootloader by doing this, but the OTA will give you the KNOX bootloader anyway.

Ok... I think that I will flash the NAE.tar via odin... Because i have nothing to lose... My device doesn't under any warranty.
So i will take the knox bootloader and then trip it in order to take root.
I will still flash custom recovery and kitkat roms or later.

KNOX bootloader isnt all that bad. It only prevents you from downgrading bootloaders which i dont see why anyone would ever need to do that.. and also just shows a yellow and red warning in the upper left hand corner (like the blue warning when booting into recovery) when you boot up your phone when using custom kernels or aosp based ROMs.
Also even tho you cant reset the KNOX count on the bootloader as long as you use triangle away to reset everything else and unroot then you should be good sprint wont ever know you was rooted.
If anyone wants to use Hotspot on this update there is an app in the playstore that cost $2.50 that really works (im using it now) just type "wifi tether router" and it will be the first app.
You will need root for it to work tho.
Update worked perfectly for me! Because Im ocd,I took a few extra steps to ensure a clean and problem free install. 1:download update, and move to root of SDext. 2:booted into recovery, and did a (install new rom wipe) in philz newest, then manually wiped system and data again to ensure fully clean. 3: rebooted into download mode using volume down and power, not the option in philz recovery.4 ODINed the stock NAE tar.md5. 5:after 1st boot finishes, and device is ready to setup, power off and boot back into DL mode. 6 ODIN cf autoroot 7:let device boot and handsfree setup complete, and once more before setting up,power off,and boot back into DL mode. 8 ODIN Philz newest jflte recovery, let device reboot, then setup. This might seem lengthy and overly drawn out,but i would rather take these steps now, then run into any potential problems later. Hope this helps.

btw is there a way i can go back to kit kat 4.4.4? to see if my s pen will work again?

well i odin back to bone stock and S Pen not working going to try using kies again.. i dont think it will fix it...
at this point i think i need to downgrade back to 4.4.4
OK I think maybe I know why my s pen is not working.. maybe I need to wipe my internal memory too.. will wiping my internal memory not let me boot to download mode or twrp?
Don't want to be bricked or stuck in a blank boot up or something...
safe to wipe everything and boot it to download lode when done? I'll have my SD card out my note just in case I accidentally wipe the SD card...
Maybe something in the internal memory like a file or something preventING my s pen you work when I flash on 4.4.4 Roms and up.. always works when I'm on stock 4.4.4 or the fire Kat 4.4.4 v5 but if I flash a higher fire Kat 4.4.4 higher versions s pen won't work...
Thanks

You'll be fine. That's how I do it. I Factory Reset...then go into Recovery, Format, Wipe...hit Reboot into Download mode from within TWRP. It'll warn you that you have no OS installed...ignore, It'll then ask you to install SU I think, Ignore that also...and just go into Download MODE...connect to computer and Odin away!

This is a [WARNING] Don't flash any other thing after you update Tmobile S5 to 5.1.1!
I have just flashed 5.1.1 and tried to flash CF-AUTOROOT / TWRP / CWM / ANY ROOT OR RECOVERY and I stucked at bootloop while the phone kept on ringing 4times at the T-mobile boot screen.
i think Samsung had changed something to prevent from install recovery or root on S5 in 5.1.1.
We should wait for someone to make 5.1.1 root.
The good news: You are able to downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0 or even 4.4 just by flashing previous firmwares using ODIN.
Without any problem. Full service, imei, SV, .... everything's fine.
Try wiping your caches in recovery. Same thing happened to me for 5.0
