Does anybody know if it's possible to add manual exposure to the stock camera like iPhones and the new Google Camera app?

I don't believe manual exposure works for us in the Google Camera because we don't have it in the stock app. If that is the reason, we'd likely have to have root to enable that feature as camera tweaks are located in /system/etc/media_profiles.xml
*edit - those were resolution tweaks from my recollection. Actual camera options my be restricted to another location, still within the /system directory.

I am looking for a camera app that will allow you to include a date and/or time stamp on the photograph (like most digital cameras do). I have used Camera360 and Vignette neither of which do this (or maybe I just cant figure out how).
Any suggestions?
Vignette does.... it is one of the custom settings under Effects ... its the last option at the bottom, I believe.

Was at a Verizon store yesterday played with the X, very nice device, one thing I couldn't locate/figure out, nor could the rep....
how do you change pic/video mp size before taking the pic/video?
Are all the pics taken in 10mp size (or a different default size), or can that be adjusted?
If so, where can Those settings be found?
The standard settings section had the basics, HDR, flash, Geo, tap to focus, slo mo, gesture etc. I just couldn't locate where to change the size of pics and video.
(Btw the X's they had at store were not on kit kat, so I know camera wasn't on latest firmware)
Anyone know?

The settings you found in the app are the only settings there are. They REALLY dumbed down the camera app. I hate how little you can control on it.
I'm coming from a 2.5+ year HTC Thunderbolt, and the Moto X is a real neat device.
But I think it's the only phone I know of that you can't preset the size pic/video you'd like.
Kind of strange, considering past dumb phones I had could do this.
Taking pics and video in the highest mp will definitely fill up the phone's memory fast.
Maybe future firmware will allow this, who knows.

I was a little peeved when I found out the picture/video size couldn't be adjusted. I told myself I didn't need all that crap from the S3 so I got the MotoX and then turned out that one small thing would drive me nuts.
Just go find an app in the market. Camera+ is one

Samsung has a lot of bloat, but there are some useful things

That may be a possible solution... but this seems an absolutely silly omission from the stock camera app (especially the video).

Problem is, will 3rd party camera app launch with wrist flick, plus the tap to take pic and keep finger down for multiple is nice, as well as taking pics while recording a video, I don't think these features will work with a 3rp party app.
Motorola X exterior is customizable, they built a whole website for that customizable part, can even add a name to boot, but customize a photo before taking it, oh boy.
And I completely understand they wanted to create a phone that just works for the average Joe, but at the least they could have had maybe a 5mp and 2mp preset under the default 10mp. They can still keep white balance etc.
Plus I think camera would be even faster taking 2mp pics (not that it has to be).
Like mentioned, maybe they'll pick up on this and change in future firmware (which is at least possible to do).

can dev add an option for front camera : Save as flipped
Actually it's presenting in LG and HTC's phone. I found it troublesome to flipped every pictures taken using a photo editor... so i just ask if it could be built in.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone on outlay tried it yet? It's got a new refreshed design and fixed bugs and can be downloaded straight from the play store to any 4.4 or over device. In currently on jelly bean so I haven't tried it yet

Now that I'm on kitkat I tried it and its pretty nice. Only issue for me is I can't turn off the shutter sound even when the phone is in silent mode which is annoying for me. I hope lg starts adding it's apps to the play store and updating then from there. It'd be nice to see an improved camera app from them

I'm kind of digging on the Google camera right now. Photosphere, a working HDR, and the face blur thing is pretty sweet.
On the most recent carbon build and the camera is flawless so far

Can anyone tell me how to shut off shutter sound? I saw stuff about deleting a line in system files but this is installed as a user app so I'm not sure how. Would it have to be decompiled and edited?

I'm on CM11 based on 4.4.2 by JackpotCalvin with this installed and I don't have a shutter sound...I don't even know how to turn it on.
I know I have my shutter sound turned off on the stock camera, and my sound profile set to vibrate, and my sound turned off for music/video/etc, if that helps.

You would need to be rooted. Use root browser or some other browser application that can access the system directory. go to system/media/audio/ui and rename the camera_click.ogg sound to something else.
Is there a Gallery APK that I can side load on my S5 for PhotoSphere viewing? The default gallery just shows Spheres as Panos ....
Thanks
** Got it ** - I sideloaded the APK for gallery that was on XDA - Originally I just installed the Google Camera app from the Store - that didn't seem to include a gallery ...
The camera tha comes with the phone has a feature called Sorround Shot. Same thing as Photosphere. Just click on Mode, and scroll to the right to download, and download it from Samsung Apps.

Awesome thanks! I was wondering why Samsung didn't include a Sphere like camera mode .... Thanks again!

I pitted surround shot against photosphere from Google camera in a quarry the other day... photosphere blew SS out of the water in pic quality.
