with s-off you can also use a rom.zip RUU and just edit the android-info.txt to match you MID and CID

thank you

Hi,
The RUU HTC Europe 1.28.401.7 is best for UK. Install this RUU from the boot loader and change the CID of your phone to HTC_001 if it's on a different carrier. The OTA update works on this RUU and will update it to 1.29XXXXX.

Are you sure? I briefly tried to restore to stock using this, and others, all I got was an error when it tried to flash ... Wouldn't let me install because the version is older than the current UK Sim Free version I'm on ... I might be wrong as I know jack **** about S-Off and changing CID's etc but I know that on my UK Sim Free One, I couldn't restore from any of the RUU's available currently as there wasn't one that matched my version.
I'm on 1.29.401.13 btw ... Oh, still no update btw to 4.2.2 lol

Is your device on s-off and is the bootloader unlocked. Your device has to have s-off before you can successfully flash any version of any stock ruu . You will need to change the Cid as well to 11111111 before you can flash any version.
Mine was branded from 3 uk. After setting the device to s-off using instructions from the XDA forum, the bootloader was also unlocked. I didnt need to go through HTC to unlock the bootloader.
I downloaded the european wwe version and the asia wwe versions of the RUU , changed the CID from H3G_001 to 11111111 for all versions and was able to flash these roms to the phone . It even lets you flash a lower version. I then changed the CID FROM 11111111 to HTC_001 for europe and was able to download OTA updates. I even flashed the Asia version and this worked as well with the asia wwe cid.you can only flash these suceessfully if the device is s-off, bootloader unlocked and cid changed to the universal id which is 11111111. Instructiions can be found on this forum.

You don't need to s-off to downgrade you can use the toolbox software to run mainver error check (needs root) to trick the phone into thinking its on 1.00 of hoot then you can downgrade with the RUU.

yes
But before downgrading hboot, check what RUU are available for ATT. I think there is a 3.xx.502.x RUU that works with hboot 1.55

yes that's the one and on a side note theirs a decrypted version RUU.zip of it that will work with your current MID and CID with a small alteration to the android-info.txt
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-m7_ul_jb43_sense50_mr_cingular_us_3-17-502-3-decrypted-zip/
Instructions for Flashing RUU Zip Files:
Download the RUU.zip file and place in your ADB/fastboot folder. I would recommend renaming the zip file to something simple like ruu.zip.
Boot your phone into the bootloader by holding the power and vol up/down buttons at the same time until you see the bootloader screen or if you have your phone booted you can use the ADB command:
adb reboot-bootloader
Now use these fastboot commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Should see the Silver HTC logo. Now issue this command to flash your phone using the ruu.zip file:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
Now the first time you issue a command to flash firmware/ruu in fastboot it only prepares the flash. You have to issue the exact command again:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The green status bar usually does not reach the 100% mark. When the output in the command window is complete, you can reboot:
fastboot reboot
**Notes about the RUU.zip method. You still need to have the proper CID for the RUU. You can run the RUU.zip with super CID, but you will have to lock your bootloader first. If you are running the RUU.zip as base to downgrade all your firmware because you are going to then going to restore a stock Nandroid so the RUU might not be made for your MID, so you may need to edit the android-info.txt inside the ruu.zip to include your MID or CID.

I don't understand .. the only time it is safe to go s-on is after flashing the signed ruu
why are you saying different ?
Keep in mind I'm on the side of never going s-on for any reason!

hboot 1.55 introduced an interesting patch, when going from S-Off to S-On, after a few reboots it comes back with "tamper detected - rebooting", and then TAMPERED is back in bootloader.
NB: i cannot confirm this to be 100% true, but i've seen more than a few posts that confirm, even after a full signed ruu etc etc etc, this has happened.
only way to avoid it was to go s-on before updating to 1.55 (hence my guide says to downgrade to lowest version)

[Q] Turn back to stock from GE

Hi, i have an Htc One uk (cid 001). Several months ago, I've turned it into a Google Edition. Now I want to turn back to stock 4.4.2 with sense 5.5 rom.
Two questions:
1) I've found some guides, but they're all "old" (for example written on november 2013... maybe today there's an easier way?). Can you show me the best? (I have s-off, Cid GOOGL001 and 1.54 hboot)
2) I can't find the correct RUU file: in collection rom thread, there are 4 europe ruu file and I can't understand the differences
-RUU Zip M7 UL JB 50 HTC Europe 1.20.401.1 Radio 4A.13.3227.06 10.27.1127.01 Release 308001 Signed 2 4;

-RUU Zip M7 UL JB 50 HTC Europe 1.28.401.7 Radio 4A.13.3231.27 10.31.1131.05 Release 310878 Signed;

... which one should I choose?
Ps: I have no nandroid backup, I use windows 8.1 or windows 7
Thanks

OK, if I understand correctly:
1) change cid in HTC_001
2) flash hboot 1.44
3) relock bootloader
4) flash ruu (4.19.401.19, right? I'm sure of cid 001; I don't remember original version-main; the back cover of the phone says "model PN07100")
Then I will be on a stock 4.2.2 and for 4.4.2 i will receive ota or must flash?

if you use the 1.29.401.16 you will OTA update to 4.4.2

ok, perfect. Will I receive future ota updates also with unlock bootloader? I don't plan to return phone for repair
and, for the same reason, what about s-off?

Is it normal that RUU.exe installation took minutes and minutes?
I've followed the instructions, no errors, and now, after one hour, my pc seems stuck (if I move the mouse, nothing happens before several seconds). Installation window is minimized to Windows status bar, the phone remains on bootloader screen
HtcSync isn't installed
EDIT: after one hour, now installation is checking RUU.
EDIT 2: It says "can took 10 minutes" but after 25' is still stuck...
EDIT 3: After 40' still "check in progress"..should I be concerned?
EDIT 4: Now bootloader rebooting and deleting data user
After 2 hour and 30', I've disconnected the phone..
Just for information: I've installed 1.29.401.16 RUU in zip mode, it worked

can't flash stock ruu

hi to all! i got some problem here and i need some help please. few days a go i flashed a kernel who delete my camera.app. i am on stock rom with , s-off, cid 11111111, hboot 1.57,stock recovery, relocked and RUU M7 UL K44 SENSE55 MR HTC Europe 4.19.401.9 R Radio 4A.23.3263.28 10.38r.1157.04L Release 353069 Signed 2-1. now i try to flash the same ruu but i got error: htc_fastboot.exe has stopped working. i belive i got problems because i got hboot 1.57. i tried to downgrade hboot but with no succes, probably because i try to downgrade after i relocked the phone, but i am not very sure if that its the order that i followed. i am thinking to unlock bootloader but i am afraid not to brick the phone after reset. any ideea? what should i do. it seems very strange to me that the update utility it doesent recognizes from what image its doing the update. thank you very much!

Did you apply the Sense 6 OTA to your phone? If you did, then the hboot is a higher number than the RUU you are trying to re-install. The same thing happen to me and I had to install a lower hboot. Check @nkk71 SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock for instructions on how to do install a lower hboot.

Change back the CID and MID numbers to match the RUU you want to flash, update your hboot from 1.54 to 1.57 or 1.61 so your phone will accept a 7.xx.xxx.xx RUU, then flash your 7.xx.xxx.xx 5.0.2/Sense RUU.
