Hey guys my vivid is looking like is dead. It has power because I can feel it vibrating but the screen is blank. It is cracked the glass so I am hoping replacing it will fix it or is it a deeper problem?

Hopefully replacing it will fix it. If you happened to set up a VNCviewer on your phone you could check by accessing the screen from the computer, but I'm guessing that is unlikely.
Or get a mhl adapter and hook it to ur tv and see if that works .
So yes when I got home I was able to get boot loader on and I tried factory reset so it wasn't my screen I am guessing but when trying to get into recovery or trying to reboot its only on the HTC screen. This came out of nowhere so know I am a Little lost. What could of happened?

if your bootloader is still locked run the stock ruu file and it will put you on a stock Rom and fix any errors

Alright will do when I get back home. My battery seems to be low though. Any tricks to get it to charge. I don't think its charging and yes I am unlocked with the toolkit so I will try relocking I guess see if it does the trick. Really at a loss as t what happen. Last thing I remember was talking g a picture of the sunset at the beach and then to having a dead phone

big scare you guys the phone powered up and turned on by itself now. I am guessing it has something to do with the screen so I am not going to mess with it until I exchange it. Hopefully this week thanks for the help
Seems like I spoke to soon its happening again. I am getting a power light but no boot up. The home keys will vibrate but the screen stays blank. I am know wondering whether it's the screen or the battery or maybe both..... One thing I do see when I am able to boot up to bootloader is that its telling me the battery has low voltage. Could that mean there is not enough voltage going to the phone from the battery.
Hello everyone... I have a really weird question: How can I kill my phone without the chance that the company finds out?
I'm stuck with a crappy contract and they won't let me finish it with my phone working... So... What should I do? The idea is that I kill the phone but that's impossible to discover that I did it...
Any ideas?

Oh yeah, but bricking-it will not even cause the phone to be turned on? Or they still can know that I bricked it? And in what part of the update should I unplug it?
Put it in the microwave, that will kill it

If you brick your phone they will most likely know that you messed something up. So best is to do what others suggested, hair dry or microwave

Can't you just update it, and pull the plug part way through? Maybe pull the battery during an update? I don't know if the phone would be recoverable from that.

Hey there. New to the one and was wondering if there were any cm10 roms that can be flashed with s-on
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
As far as I understand it, any ROM can be flashed s-on without issue on the One (caveat below). It's different than the 3D. But the revone method of s-off is super easy so it's worth doing (see my web signature for a link). Also, from my understanding, some people have bricked their Ones trying to flash AOSP ROMs. I think s-off people have better luck with it.

Hearing the word brick doesn't make it seem worth it. Thanks man. That being said, which roms seem to be the most stable for the sprint one?

The Sense ones. I use the Team 420 one, but I'm biased. The Team D3rp one is really good too. I haven't tried any others though so try others and find your favorite.

The Two That I know of and have done my self are Viper and cyanogenmod. I have not take the step to s off yet as I am very new to this and am learning before I do just as you described (Brick my phone). You can easily find these two ROMs here on this site.
ViperROM v1.1.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241016
CyangenMod
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=m7spr
and that is where I got the ones I used as well.
It does matter which carrier you have as I made that mistake and was in bootloop which you dont want to do.
For information on that see this thread:

FWIW I was one of the people who got bricked, and I and some others helped to compile a list of victims. The last brick was on 6/29 after which the kernel was really overhauled.
Most (including me) are calling the bug squashed.

Bricking a phone would def suck! but i was under the impression, and maybe im wrong, that there is usually a way to fix it. Again im no pro but i kind of jumped into the whole rooting thing without knowing ANYTHING about it on my 3D and never seemed to mess it up more than having to flash a new RUU at worst. anyway i really love the IllusionRom. but cant seem to get google wallet to work, which is kind of a bummer. but i also really love Sense 5, and dont mind using stock one bit. I suggest going for it and checking everything out, more than likely you'll be fine. best of luck

A brick can never be recovered. It must be replaced. A BORK can pretty much always be fixed via ADB.
Also, I heard there was a workaround for the wallet issue. Just search it up. It has something to do with the build . prop.

Or if not ADB, judicious use of fastboot and RUU. I cut my teeth on a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, and after a three-month long recovery process, nothing the HTC One can pull is likely to faze me anymore.
Anyway, there are certain devices that can be recovered from a low-level brick (assuming by brick we're saying a device is completely non-responsive to input, hardware and software wise) but it's pretty involved at the best of times.
Hey, greetings.
I just rooted my new HTC one like a month old and today received a call on it and gsam indicated that temperature of my phone is staggering 128℃. And the phone was super hot to hold.
Is this normal? If no, any help with resolving it? Thanks and regards

That's degrees Fahrenheit in the picture not Celsius, if it was, your phone would probably have liquified. But still 128F is like 53C which is very hot, and HTC specifications say the max design temperate is 55C.
Were you using Navigation? That's the only app that makes my phone so hot. Check for any rogue apps.
Sorry yeah, ℉.

Sounds very strange, the only app I've seen that makes the phone so hot is Navigation, even games etc. that "strain" the CPU "only" get by phone up to 40~45C.

If you have time, try flashing again (preferably with wipe), but there must be some app that's doing all this. I would "hunt" down for that first.

by using ROM tool box (by Jrummy) it’s an awesome app but I decided to play around with the custom font option and when I tried to install another custom font it decided to reboot my phone to the LG logo and from there the screen goes black with the little indicator light on the upper right of the phone flashing multiple colors.
Fixes that i have attempted to apply where:
-multiple reboots nothing happened same results
-let the battery drain out of the phone then let it charge for a bit and restart it with no luck
-go into recovery mode to clear partition and reboot, but no luck
-go into recovery mode and apply factory reset but no luck
At the end of all these attempts I continue to get the LG LOGO and after that has played out i get a black screen with my notification indicator flashing multiple different colors.
I bet if I had an unlocked boot loader with a custom recovery I wouldn't be in this situation right now. Now I have to go thru hyelton Guide on how to revert back to Stock Firmware, and to my new-bish eyes it doesn't look easy.
Hyelton method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
I’m glad I’m putting $10 towards the bounty, but if I was in a better financial situation I would most definitely put in a $100
