HTC one M7 Strange Black Screen Problem - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well my htc one was working fine but then one morning it go stuck on the loading screen so i hard reset it. Then thats when the problem started my htc one would go black screen (Still backlit) after a couple of sec of idle, this also happens when i try to change a setting or use a app. For example when try to log on to the wifi the screen goes black but i can still works cause i vibrates when i type something. I can receive and make calls and texts although another problem is the keyboard disappears after the first character i type. I can use google chrome but not the stock internet app it goes black screen the keyboard problem makes it really hard to use the internet. i can change the know if the usb debugging is on so i cant try to custom rom it. Is there anything i can do other then getting a new phone?

Im not sure to understand everything you said here but first you should try to clear cache ''fastboot clear cache'' and clear dalvik cache if you have a custom recovery on your phone.
Then if your phone still crashes, use the factory reset option.

usb debugging is not required to flash a custom rom. Only to use adb when the phone is booted in the OS

You said this happened after a hard reset not factory reset. So try to factory reset from the OS or from recovery

So i guess its stock, from bell. Go to setup>backup and reset>backup now and let your phone get backed up to either google drive or dropbox. Then on the same page hit "reset phone", it should be the last option, if you cant find it its setup>backup and reset>reset phone and see if that helps.
After the resets done just restore everything from that backup and it should be fine after that.

Well there's plenty of things you could do, but these would require modifying the phone and possibly getting rid of your warranty. So is there any warranty left on the phone?
Also, boot into the bootloader: shutdown the phone, make sure fastboot is turned off, and hold the down volume button and the power button. It should boot into a screen thats white, let me know some of the information on that screen. On the top of the screen does it say anything like
***unlocked*** or ***tampered***? And does the line following these words say "M7UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH" or "M7UL PVT SHIP S-OFF"
Look at the pic for reference.

so i would suggest unlocking the device, installing a custom recovery, and getting a custom rom on the device, this will most probably solve the issue and give you some other benefits as well.
Note that these things can be potentially dangerous if not done properly, so be careful, because no one (including me) will be responsible if you mess up your phone.
Theres plenty of tutorials around xda teaching you how to unlock and install these things etc.

every roms are good, but I would recommend you to use ARHD 53.
or you can try arhd 62 if you want to try sense 6. not sure if 62 is rock stable yet so if you want a stable rom go with arhd 53.

[Q] No Recovery + Bootloop + hboot 1.47.000 + S-ON

Ok... I'm having quite an issue here and i'm not sure what to do next. I've been looking over the forums and I cant seem to find anything that helps.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero CDMA. The device just hangs at the white HTC screen when booted normally.
When booting into recovery, the only option is to delete user data.
I've tried flashing with hboot, I've tried using RUU's.. I cant seem to get anything to get this phone to boot.
Fastboot info:

**Additional Notes**
This phone does not boot. So anything required to be done from within android will not work.
ADB does not connect.
Fastboot - REMOTE NOT ALLOW.
I'm about ready to pull my hair out. Anyone able to offer any help?
I'm assuming you've tried deleting user data?
You've tried ruuing with a HERCIMG.zip? (http://www.mediafire.com/?m6x4sr682ruk027)
And after all that it's just looping?
So since ADB isn't connecting, you can't run a logcat to see where it might be hanging?
I probably can't offer much help and late Friday night is a quite time here.
Yes.. have tried deleting user data.. and have flashed several of those packages. I'll try the one you posted and see.

Installed that manually from hboot by moving it to sd, renaming it, and updating. It went through the whole update, said it completed, rebooted.. and same as always.. sitting at a white screen with HTC in green.

Sounds like it's bricked to me. I don't know what else to tell you, sorry.
are u sure not pressing home+back instead of home+power because thatll go to clear storage and it drives me crazy because i always do it by accident due to big thumbs lol
Me agrees with Bierce, you also can try volume down+power then press home to get to recovery that way. Alternative install htc sync and D/l an ruu from htc site connect phone and start the process all over .I know it's long but the eng-spl is reversible when you unroot but the unrevoked s-off, isn't it's at a different level, and they haven't created an s-on for the Hero that I know of. Good Luck we are here to help
EDIT: If you are s-on you can't use the HERCIMG.zip's. AFAIK but I might be mistakin.

Cannot get to recovery from hboot. Option is selected, but it just hangs at white screen with HTC in green.
I took your advice, about the fat fingers lol and used a screw driver to press the power button to make sure I wasn't hitting the back. It just displays the same white screen.. I'm beginning to think this phone does not have a valid recovery partition.
I've tried running multiple RUU's. It take me into bootloader, uploads, flashes, says it completes, but then just hangs at the same white screen after reboot.
if it dosnt have a recovery itll just go to the bootloader just try an ruu thats probably your best option at this point.
Yeah make sure you very gingerly and accurately press the proper buttons.

I want try try everything possible before I erase all my data...I really don't care about my apps and settings...just my contacts...

[Q] HTC ONE bricked

A friend of mine has a T-Mobile HTC One and he bricked it, he asked me for help, knowing I'm very good with tech and android. But the thing is that I know everything but from Samsung, I always try to read a lot and learn from new devices to fix them or even try something because I'm always asked for help from my family, sure you guys know about that, but sadly I'm in finals and I'm barely sleeping and I've read a little but not enough but need I to help him so that's why I ask you guys for help urgently. Here are the things I know:
The phone is trapped in a bootloop after the Cyanogenmod logo and restarts itself after a minute
It is S-ON but unlocked
It is the M7_UL T-Mobile model
It is on HBOOT 1.56
The Radio is on 4A.24.32.63.09
The OS 4.19.531.10
It can still enter recovery and is recognized by my PC
From what I've read that has been a little bit, I can restore it completely with a RUU (kind of like a .tar in ODIN for Samsung), but it has to be Relocked and in other sites it says that it has to be S-OFF, needless to say that I don't know what tools to use and then I've seen that that Hboot 1.65 is not supported and well right now I have to create my SQL project, sorry to ask you guys as I hate when other do it just to not read but I swear this is not the case.
Help to fix this will be very appreciated

First thing, try this
Force reboot: press and hold POWER + VOLDOWN (under a bright light, not kidding!!), after about 5 seconds or so buttons should start blinking, and after 30 seconds or so, the phone will reboot, let go of POWER, but keep holding VOLDOWN to get back to bootloader.
Then reboot.
(you may need to try 2 or 3 times to get it right)
What recovery do you have?
CWM has problems with 4.4.2.
The rom bootloops
Install twrp 2.6.3.3
Make sure it's for your phone.
If that doesn't work, do you know how to post a fastboot getvar all.

Yeah I've tried that. The thing that I forgot to tell is that when I go into Recovery mode it shows all partitions in 0mb including Internal Storage and says it doesn't have any OS installed although the Cyanogenmod Logo appears at startup

[Q] HTC One m7_ul doesn't start

Good morning XDA participants.
I have a very big problem and I think that I converted my phone is just a paperweight.
After a lot of tries of change s-on to s-off, I was not able to do it. For some reason, I think that was a little tired and boring, I did something and now my phone doesn't load OS. Just turn on and stay on the HTC screen logo, I can enter to recovery but after try factory reset the problem continues.
Could be possible recover the phone? Or I have to forget that Will work again...it's just have 3 weeks

flushing ruu will not end

I'm flushing a tmibile ruu into rooted with custom ROM. I did all step. Installed drivers, relocked bootloader, launched the exe all went well except that the whole operation should take about 10min. It's been an hour now and it's not finished, it's still updating. That's not normal. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestion on what to do to finish this update up.?

If your sure your using the correct ruu it could be HTCSync. Do you have it installed. If you do uninstall it but leave drivers installed. Reboot your pc and try again. HTCSync is known to interfere with RUU mode
Other than that just make sure you have the correct ruu. It should match your MID and CID and if your s-on it must match or have a newer firmware than you currently have :good:

Can you post the output of
Code:

What type of bootloop are you having, looping before its finished booting or is it booting up ok then randomly restarting.
Did it bootloop immediately after flashing the ruu or did you flash something after like a custom recovery or rom?

It reboots randomly sometimes just after boot loop when swept lock screen to get to home, sometimes it for about 10min then reboots. I'm not rooted anymore I have stock recovery that's why I flashed the ruu. Because when I was running custom ROMs, there was no random reboot but the baseband was unknown, no radios I couldn't connect to network. I tried to flash tmo radio through twrp it succeeded but baseband remained unknown. That's why I wanted to unroot and go back to stock. Sorry I don't know the history of this phone. That's the way i got it rooted, unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery running cm11 with no baseband.

Unknown IMEI and Baseband Most likely a hardware problem. If you have warranty i would return to stock and send it for reapair :good:

I have come across many cases of this on the forum. Only one of them I was able to help get working again and the symptoms were slightly different. There was no RUN in that case so we returned it to stock with a ROM and firmware package and it was working normally again. Obviously the RUU will have done this for you.
Only 1 other i know of that was repaired and it was opened up and to the best of my knowledge the Antenna Connector wire was replaced. And it solved the problem. I'll try track down a link for that one and post it here.

Well and i'm clutching at straws here, but have you tried flashing it multiple times before booting the device. Maybe that will help it stick??

Yeah I'll try that when I get little more time. Meanwhile thanks and happy new year or holidays.
update
I did flash the ruu once again it was worse, I did not go past the lock screen. as soon as I swipe to get to home it reboots. now I decided rooting it again and using a custom rom like cm11 or smoothliquid, the rebooting problem did not exist when I used them, but I hope the base band holds there this time.
I succeeded to submit a token to htddev to unlock bootloader again, and I'm waiting for the unlock code bin email. it's been like 10hrs and still nothing. should I do something or just wait?

CM11 will stop the rebooting, I don't know why but it does. It won't fix it though. But at least the device will be stable.
This issue is also known to get worse overtime. So I think it will only get worse.
If you have your original unlock_code.bin you can just flash it again you don't need to wait for htcdev.
If you don't have it on your pc see if you still have the original e-mail it was attached to. :good:

Well given its new years day it may take a little longer than usual. So I would just wait it out :good:

Seriously annoying problem after lollipop upgrade

I have the HTC one m7,stock/unrooted. Im not sure if this problem is because of a bug or a setting that needs to be changed. When the screen is off I'm somehow able to turn the screen back on by pressing either volume button. This becomes annoying when I have it in my front pocket when I'm working and I take out my phone to check a message and see that the screen was on the whole time. Then when I double tap the home button to see my recent apps, I notice that random apps are open including the camera and sometimes it would call/text random people. If you are wandering how it is sitting while in my pocket, the power button is @ the top,so the only keys being pressed is the volume rocker. Before lollipop I never had this issue. I have already tried a factory reset (not a app issue) and clearing system cache to no avail. Another thing I've noticed I'd when I'm on the home screen with the phone unlocked I'm able to use it in landscape mode. If anyone can give me a permanent solution to this problem I'd greatly appreciate it.
This is very odd since the problems you're telling is actually a feature of some custom roms. I'd suggest you to backup your internal storage and RUU.

Yes but not the one you make on the phone. You download the RUU tool to factory reset the phone, it should fix your problem.

Where can I get the Ruu tool and what the difference between it and a factory reset on the phone itself?

RUU will wipe entire OS and reflash it. Phone factory reset wont work if some of your system files are corrupt or missing. You can find them on android developement section prior to your variant
