What rom or what do I get? - Verizon LG G2

What rom or what do I get im stuck on the recovery philz touch 6 clockwork mod 6 i cant get into download more or anything. my last resource they told me to try the otg cable and try that. i have ordered it and i haven't received the cable yet but im not sure what rom to get or what can i do? I just want to be able to start my phone and use it. If that cable doesnt work then im out of luck because my phone doesnt show up on the list of devices on adb. Anyone know??

I take it you wiped system and internal storage? So no ROM installed and no ROM package on the internal SD? Do you have adb installed and working? If so adb push /path/to/ROM/or/gapps.zip /sdcard/
That should move a ROM package to your phone so you can flash. Besides that just choose a ROM that matches closest to what you had before . . so matches your ota version/baseband.
Any this belongs in questions and answers and will likely get moved

So I been playing around with different roms for the LG G2 and so far I will admit not to impressed.
Is there any good AOSP roms that dont have odd hackups like camera not working or BT being busted, etc.

Not at this time, they are still developing.

What is your specific LG G2 model and firmware currently, VS98012B? VS98011A?, VS98010B?, VS98024A?
You can't go wrong with 24A based roms like Malladus 2.0.1 or XDABBEB 1.0 as everything works with XDABBEB having 4K camera and hacked hotspotting (you can install the 4K camera and hotspot hacked apk into Malladus as well afterwards).
AOSP/CM11 based on 24A have been spotty with JackpotClavin's CM11-24A being very good on 4/5/14 build except Pandora is broken. dr87 has Mahdi ROM 2.5 Beta built on 24A with broken vibration and camcorder (still in beta testing).
If you're still on JellyBean or VS98012B or younger firmware, then there is a bunch of ROMS for you to chose from (many KitKat AOSP/CM11/AOKP/PA/pacman/SlimKat/etc appearing ROMs based on JellyBean. There are also a bunch of ROMS based on JB stock like Malladus 1.2.9, CloudyFlex 1.4, AeonFlex 3.0.2, etc.
Don't forget to look at all the LG G2 (nonspecific to provider) Forums as they have a bunch of ROMS and KERNELS for LG G2 Verizon also.

Sounds like you have the broken "download mode". You need to learn how to "sideload" via adb (google youtube adb sideload and you'll learn quick). You need to install the unified drivers for LG G2 on your Windoze PC, the original LG microUSB cable to do the deed. I'm not sure if Philz touch 6 has sideload capability but TWRP 2.7.0.0 does which is what I use and recommend. Once you know how to sideload then you have to flash XDABBEB's zip file to fix download mode (found in his 24A ROM thread, 1st post: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407586639 ). Good luck.

adb is very picky. You must have the correct Windows drivers (or different laptop with Windows 7) and original LG microUSB cable. See post above to fix broken download mode. Once that's fixed then you can go into download mode and KDZ Verizon 24A file to stock. Then you can IOROOT25 and use AutoRec to get recovery back on your 24A stock phone.

Try to use a different Windows 7 laptop, install latest LG unified and adb drivers, using original LG microUSB cable and see if adb recognizes your phone. Maybe your USB debugging on your phone was not checked? See this link for ADB drivers http://www.droidextra.org/2013/02/06/install-adb-drivers-for-any-android-device.html

No offense... But can someone move this to Q&A please. This is not development related.

Oh no, I don't think adb will work without usb debug checked. Maybe PM XDABBEB for "fastboot" help

He is not booted into android. ADB should be enabled by default in recovery.

^^^^ What he said. Also can't he enter ADB in CWM or is that just a TWRP thing?

[GUIDE] How to install Jelly Bean with no issues Thrill/Optimus

After countless hours figuring out how to do this (trial and error and constant bricking lol)
I decided to write this tutorial on how to get Jelly Bean to the LG Thrill/Optimus!! I know getting ICS/Jelly Bean is a pain in the a$$ (SERIOUSLY!!)
These were the steps I took to get it running on my phone (this may not work for everyone...)
If you follow each step carefully you will have JB on your thrill (it's not too hard )
Thanks to The Dark Lestat and xbsall and the rest of the XDA community
Now on with the tutorial
1. Before you start if you have anything important stored on you Internal SD card SAVE IT to your PC because everything will get erased and
UNINSTALL ALL LG DRIVERS and reboot your PC.
2. Go to the Resurrection Guide to Downgrade your phone back GB
download the tools xbsall suggest (download "WKPARKS omap4boot" "LGFlashTools" and download the recovery rom BOOTV21e.rar)
(If you're having issues setting up LG Flash Tool Go HERE and follow the installations steps)
3. Follow the rest of the Resurrection steps CAREFULLY and don't do the Extra step for p920 users just yet.
Now that you're on Gingerbread you'll have to flash a different KDZ to get things running right for Jelly Bean
5. Go HERE and download the LG Flash Package. (stay on that page)
6. Download V21D_00.kdz
I may upload the one I have because I know it's hard to find for some but if you know where you can download it PM me so I can post it in
this tutorial.
7. Follow the steps on that very page but don't uninstall the LG drivers (you did that already in the beginning). If you did the steps correctly you
should be on stock GB and you will have to format the Internal SD card.
8. When you get to Step 9 On your phone make that USB Debugging is enabled and your phone plugged to the PC then install the Megatron
root once that's finished then install ClockworkMod (NOT the touch version!)
9. Now download the CM10 of your choice and store it to the base of your SD card.... if you decide to go with the Cyanogen rom in most cases
you will have to download the GAPPS here (store that on the base of the
SD card as well) but if you go with with a custom rom (like PARANOID) gapps comes already installed in the rom itself. Just to be on the
safe side download GAPPS.
10. Boot into recovery WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET wipe cache partition and format system and then flash the CM10 and then GAPPS then
restart your phone.
OH NO!! MY PHONE IS BOOT LOOPING!! WHAT DO I DO???!!!
(lol don't worry this is what you do)
11. Go back to the Resurrection Guide and then scroll down to the
"Extra Step for P920 User's" and download the rebooter utility (extract it to somewhere easy for you to find) Then put again put your phone on download mode (using omap4boot)
double click ICSv21e_boot and Select "2" it automatically will install what you need...
12. Once finished restart your phone and ENJOY JELLY BEAN!!
Once again thanks to all that have helped me and others to get ICS/JB to our phones!!
just fyi there is no v21D_00.kdz, only 21E
edit, nevermind....
but this doesnt work for me
Why use v20d? V20p bb works fine on the p925 for jb.

Phone Restart Just few Minutes after Startup
I have done everything required in the process sketch but i still cant enjoy your rom
I noticed two issues,
1. No network signal, eveything was working fine while i was still using the stock rom (LG P920) but after flashing urs, the network doesnt come on
2. The phone restart after about a minute or two only to stay stuck on a LG Logo interface.
I have to remove battery to load again after which the process restardt itself. Please help.
@drwale2000
Have you installed the google apps?
Also, I tried installing pacman and have found it to be very unstable with many random reboots. Can you point to the most stable jb rom that you have found?
Does this jb has all 3d features?

Stock boot.img and recovery.img

Just in case someone needs this here are stock
recovery.img and stock boot.img.
Both have been tested and working fine.
I used heimdall to flash them few times but I think it should work with ODIN as well.
Haven't tested it with ODIN tho.
If you gonna use heimdall here is the galaxy4.pit file.
So if something goes south you can flash back to stock again.
I had to do that many times yesterday as I was testing recoveries made by Shabbypenguin and kernels that I was trying to build.

You can keep the root untill you know more about it and start using all benefits.
It won't bug you and won't brake anything on your phone.
Actually if you not using any apps that require root access you won't even notice that you are rooted.
So no worries.
I haven't look into any unrooting methods and don't even know if they exist as of now so if you want to do it you should
keep looking for it.

I place the phone in flash mode, and it doesn't detect the device. I used the older Heimdall to flash my GS1 many times, but it has never worked with my gs4. In fact, I can't even get usb debugging or adb to work either. I monkeyed around with udev trying to get it working, still no luck. I have Fedora17 at the moment, and I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with my frustrations.

I know I had to update my Heimdall from 1.3.2 to 1.4 to make it work with GS4.
I don't have any problems with it ever sense.
But my adb and debugginb are working as well.
So may be some missing drivers?

4.3 update messed up my phone

I have rooted HTC one google edition. I received a new official updated that I installed through twrp, after installation it told me that root access was lost and i could restore it by pressing restore root access option. Since then i cant get past the Google screen. My phone basically gets to Google screen then restarts, gets to Google screen and restarts. I tried factory reset, did not help. What should i do?
If you have a Google Edition rooted phone, it shouldnt have installed the OTA with a custom recovery installed. You'll likely have to use the RUU in the original dev thread. you'll want to backup your sdcard via adb cause the RUU will wipe everything.

Just use this, its either pre-rooted or unrooted, follow the instructions but being on a GE One you should already be all set to flash it.

Just use this, its either pre-rooted or unrooted, follow the instructions but being on a GE One you should already be all set to flash it.

You can't install an OTA through a custom recovery my friend. RUU is your best option right now.

How am i supposed to use RUU if my computer wont recognize my phone in fastboot?
The RUU won't help anyway. It's not signed therefore will only install on s-off phone.

what does device manager say?
if it says something like QHUSB_Download mode, you're screwed, get it swapped out
if you can get to the bootloader, you can probably install a recovery again and install a stock 4.2.2 or 4.3 rom and get back up and running.

I can get to bootloader and i can also get to twrp. But the thing is i cant download anything to my phone because i cant access it through my computer, i hear the sound when i plug it in but i dont see the device in "My Computer"
Learned the hard way.
Your phone is not recognized, because you haven't updated your ADB and Fastboot files on your computer. Once, you do that.. You will need to download hboot 1.44 that gunnyman has in the 4.3 thread via RUU. After that is done find yourself, the RUU from whatever provider your phone is running under.. Ex: Dev or Tmo or ATT etc etc.. That should fix you up. I did this to my device once messing around with it.. But my problem also was with a locked boot loader that had 4 exclamation triangles on each corner.. No boot screen for start up even came up.. Just back to the boot loader of doom.

do a factory reset in twrp. then reboot system. and DO NOT FIX ROOT when you reboot

then all is not lost. you're having either a driver issue or trying to use a usb 3 port or something like that.
boot to recovery
type adb devices
if it gives a number you can sideload a ROM.
download this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390346
it's stock rooted 4.3
sideload it in twrp
start the sideload mode in twrp
type adb sideload then the name of the rom. the rom will push to the phone and then install.

i was just gonna link him to that thread. i think a factory reset *might* get it to boot tho. worth a try.

He obviously has some sort of thing going. It clearly states in his OP, FYI. That he "was" rooted "before" the update. Umm & if he can get into boot loader & TWRP Recovery... He still has a chance.

It depends on the recovery, but it works in TWRP.
It is the ROM that is rooted, so if you sideload a non-rooted ROM and flash it, you will lose root. It seems you don't have a working ROM, so you don't "have" root.

Let me correct you. You had a custom ROM that was rooted.
My suggestion is to fix the problem.
I can't help you because:
1) I don't know what recovery you have
2) I don't know what tutorial you followed
3) I don't know in which way it is "not working"
I suggest you flash TWRP 2.6.3.4 and use adb sideload.

You need to get adb working on your PC or you could try what bored_stupid is suggesting. You are a long why from requiring supersu at this point.

You don't even have a working rom so why are you still talking about root??? You don't need root to use a usb otg cable to flash a rom.
Make sure you have the latest android sdk installed on your computer and latest htc drivers.
Post the output of fastboot getvar all minus imei/sn

It is problem globally! Google is experiencing major error with sync servers.
or try this: go to accounts.google.com and in security (left panel) go to the list of 3rd party applications that are using your Google credentials and start revoking the applications that you no longer use.

Back to stock with broken USB port

Hey there,
the USB port on my Note8 ist broken it doesnt recognize any sort of connection - with that working it wouldnt be a hassle for me to get back to stock
Someone recommended me to try flashfire, but im scared of bricking the device with this method since the latest version is from 2017
Is this really the only way it could work or is it possible to work with odin over wifi?
Greetings

Is your device rooted? Flash fire you have to be rooted. And haven’t messed with flashfire in years. So I would doubt it would work.
But yes your gonna need a working USB port to flash it back to stock there’s really no other way if flashfire is not an option.

My device has root and twrp.
But is there a zip?
I also posted in another forum (a german one) - and he said since I want to get back to stock bc of a warranty case I shouldnt bother me so much bc my hardware issues (broken usb / pixel errors) cannot be adressed to custom recovery / root
