Hi,
I'm trying to get AOSPA4+ (paranoid android 4.2) on my Sony Xperia Z1 (c6903).
I followed this guide:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714333
But when I tried to format my system to factory through TWRP, it gave some mounting errors.
Code:
Formatting cache using make_ext4fs function.
E:Unable to mount '/data'
Updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to mount internal storage.
I already tried going to mounting option manually through TWRP, that didn't work. However, I peeked at the file manager and it seems that '/ ' has some folders and data, but in sdcard and external_sd, nothing's there.
Suggestions to get around the formatting issue? Did it already format when I unlocked the bootloader? I'm guessing I can't format because when I flashed boot.img it removed the OS, therefore no debug mode. Or something...(idk)
I don't know if is necessary to flash just the boot.img from the zip file to get recovery and working rom, maybe this make some issues. You can try in different way, flash back a stock FTF and wipe everything (to get rid of issues), then install TWRP from PC and flash the whole .zip Rom.
omg what did i do??

I flashed 14.3.A.0.757 [NUT][UNBRANDED] and it won't boot anymore! I lost recovery! It's not hard bricked because there is still life..I hope I'm right...
HELP me! I'm so scared..how do I recover from this? My phone gets to the purple boot animation screen for about 4 seconds, freezes for 3, then bootloops.
Press and hold power and volume up button until it vibrates 3 times
then just flash a stock ftf from the mega collection thread
then start again

Should I flash the 14.1.A ROM? The 4.2.2 version with the root exploit?

Sorry, I was editing my other post but forum moderation..sorry if it sounded really stupid.
BUT this question will be worse.
I'm flashing forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687275. Top post.
Is that ok?
Sorry for the stupid questions. I want to be extra careful and not break my phone.. :-\
keep calm and flash stock
use flashtool from flashtool.net to flash a FTF file for your phone....
just flash it and then spam me back....

That's not a big problem, just flash the stock kernel from ftf.
It would be better if you flashed the whole ftf so you can start from a clean phone.

WOW it worked like a charm! Thank you so much (adding + rep for saving my phone).
All I need to do is downgrade to 4.2, get root, upgrade back, then flash paranoid android's zip through flashtool? Or TWRP and copy boot.img?
You could, but here is an easier way
flash a ftf ending 534 for your phone
instal dual recovery
flash your choice of rom
(comment deleted, disregard this post)
Being unlocked makes no difference, it just means you can flash custom kernels as well
PS
So many people unlocking their boots and not really knowing what that means..

This I'm assuming is done through TWRP? Or adb and copying boot.img?
Assuming it's done through TWRP, put gapps and Rom on /sdcard, then install ROM then gapps?

I think the OP in that rom thread is saying to install boot.img first to get Recovery, but I will try in different way, use TWRP which you probably will install from pc after you flashed stock .534 FW, when you are in recovery you are ready to go, wipe everything first then install the whole .zip files and gaps in sequnce like the OP is telling. Done, you should have the rom working on your phone.

I will try this. I did something similar to that, except I didn't format my system on recovery. This led to some error that I don't really remember, and then my whole problem came up again, no boot, boot-looping at the 3 second, w/e.
I'll try formatting first before installing, hopefully that will resolve the conflicts that I had. Thanks for your suggestion.

Any suggestions? I have to wait 180 minutes for upload.to to allow re-download.

[STOCK][C6602&C6603][4.2.2] Update to 10.3.1.A.0.244 [Rooted & XZDualRecovery][LB/UB]
Requirements:
Flashtool by @Androxyde
XZDualRecovery 2.5 RELEASE or newer.
Current FW version: 10.3.A.0.423, maybe others too, let me know!
Special features:
Superuser integrated in system, FULL root, no reboots when remounting /system RW!
XZDualRecovery 2.7 BETA (CWM ADVANCED 6.0.3.4 & TWRP 2.6.0.0) pre-installed;
Tailored FTF to minimize the chance of accidental system wiping!
No need to clear caches!
@shem2409 created a nice youtube video guide to assist you in your work, be sure to check this post for it! Thanks m8!
The C6603 ROM is based on the FTF provided by @NetSkill in this thread. Thanks dude
The C6602 ROM is based on the FTF provided by @alfiabraham in this thread. Thanks dude
In the following guide I suggest you use an external SDCard but that's just good practice, you can use your internal storage or even an USB OTG storage device in TWRP if you like to install, that's no problem!... If you are modding and the likes, best is to have an external sdcard, just for safeties sake.
C6602: How to update to 10.3.1.A.0.244:
For C6602: Download C6602GI.flashable.244.zip (Bittorrent: 741MB) and C6602_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericI-stripped.ftf (15MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'C6602GI.flashable.244.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C6602_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericI-stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'C6602GI.flashable.244.zip' in TWRP, do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C6602_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericI-stripped.ftf';
Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.
C6603: How to update to 10.3.1.A.0.244:
For C6603: Download C6603CE.flashable.244.zip (Bittorrent: 688MB) and C6603_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericCE-stripped.ftf (15MB), save it somewhere you remember;
Put 'C6603CE.flashable.244.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
Put 'C6603_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericCE-stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
Flash 'C6603CE.flashable.244.zip' in TWRP, do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C6603_10.3.1.A.0.244_GenericCE-stripped.ftf';
Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.
The first boot will be considerably slower and after a long wait at the boot animation you will see Android optimizing the apps on your phone.
I have done this myself along side @Tamirwig, using this method and we have not found any problem yet, again! :fingers-crossed:
NOTE: You will eventually/inevitably get the triangle screen again after doing this update (typically after you shut down your phone to reboot it without an actual reboot command), you will have to sit this one out it seems, it keeps coming back until it's done...
DO NOT INTERRUPT IT, LET IT RUN AND DO IT'S THING! you have been warned!
Enjoy! :laugh:
Known XZDualRecovery Issues:
Busybox Updater/Installer: If you have XZDualRecovery installed, un-install any Busybox updating app/tool as most if not all of them will install a version of busybox which does not support the lzma compression applets XZDualRecovery depends on. The version installed together with XZDualRecovery is very stable and I have yet to hear anyone complain about it's stability.
How to report errors:
Please, before shouting out "It doesn't work!!1!" or "I lost root!" or even "My phone reboots when remounting /system RW!!" try the following:
Restore a /system ONLY using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
Root it using [Z][ROOT] DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.
Install XZDualRecovery and then try to update again using TWRP. This time you can skip the FTF as it has already done it's job.
If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /tmp/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me.
Thank you
Works great! Thanks.
Flashing everything and not only baseband?

Yes, .244 is newer than .423
just flashed the stock .244 yesterday.
I had a dual recovery before (somewhen...).... but i guess thats gone now ? (even flashed a few doom kernels between)
If i just flash this in CWM will it work ? Or is it essential to install Dual recovery before ?
P.S could you please consider using a different hoster for your .torrent files ? i use my NAS as external download station. Instead of just using the link Copy&Paste i had to wait 10sec, download the .torrent file and configure the download manually.
Or just a direct link to the .torrent file wihout waiting time, that would be awesome.
Flashed this successfully following instructions on the OP on my C6602.
One thing I noticed though, after flashing the zip, I went back to Menu in TWRP then tapped on Reboot. A prompt came up saying Root permissions are lost and a swipe to fix was shown. I did not attempt to fix and proceeded to next instruction and flashed through Flashboot.
Thanks for this update and guide @[NUT] Amazing piece of work.
EDIT: BTW, after the phone booted, I did not lose any data. Just an FYI. Oh, I still haven't seen that Triangle you mentioned in the OP. Hope it doesn't pop up.

If you look at /tmp in a file manager app there should be 2 files there: killedric and remountedrootfs . If they are not there then the RIC service is probably active... can you check that for me?

TWRP expects a certain permission on the su executable... which is basically the same as with my packages. Even DooMLoRD sets the same... i was going to report a bug on that to Team Win about that soon... it's annoying. Root works fine either way.

Hi to you all!
I want to apologize for my English and for any mistake, considering that this is my 1st post here on xda!
In the past I've flashed some official roms, using flashtool, I've unlocked bootloader and rooted my phone several times, but this is all the experience I'd had before I ruined my phone.
What I tried was to install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175768
I had already cwm on my phone so I did copy ACID zip file on my hone sd card and then I entered cwm and flashed that zip. It was all ok, then the phone restarted and after displaying "sony" and "xperia", it displayed those curb lines moving (I hope you get it), then restarted and doing the same steps over and over.
What I tried was to enter cwm again and wipe cache/data, wipe cache by dalvik and wipe partitions...of course with no result at all.
I tried to repair the phone using PC Companion and SUS but both say I can't because my phone hasn't original android.
Then I thought about installing CM 11, but it wasn't possible because the phone doesn't start so I could copy boot.img into sd card.
My last idea is to flash official 4.3 from sony with flashtool.
My question is: does anybody know what I could do if flashing official 4.3 fails too?
Also, if someone could help me what to do step by step to install cm11 I'll be very grateful. I've downloaded cm11.zip but all tutorials say that I have to copy boot.img on sd card which I can't. Is there any other method?
then restarted and doing the same steps over and over.

No just go into recovery, flash the monxdified rom zip and then clear cache and dalvik. I have done the same thing and it works perfectly fine. You can flash any 4.3 rom in this way, as you are on the same firmware.

Monxdified, iHackers and all stock based roms don't need a custom kernel (that's why you don't need to be bootloader unlocked to use them)
Just go into your recovery flash the zip. After the zip is flashed you will get an option to clear dalvik and cache.
It is always recommended to do a factory reset before flashing a custom rom, as it might misbehave. You can however try it without factory reset and then if you see that it doesn't work properly just do a factory reset and flash the rom zip again.

Did you use the same zip file? Try to copy your zip file to your computer, then extract it, if it's error while extracting, then your problem is corrupted file. Try to flash other zip file, like theme, or etc, just to make sure your problem is your corrupted zip file.

Try flashing advance kernel by doomlord..then try flashing again..
Did u flash 4.4 ftf before u unlock the bootloader?
If thats the case 4.4 kernel has probelems in mounting the system in recovery..

?
Its not the kernel, it was old versions of recovery that did that. If you are on the latest dual recovery OR DooMKerneL there will be no issues with mount.

Yes, it was a stupid mistake.
Locked bootloader. Couple of minutes ago, I just flashed in the XZDualRecovery and then flashed the kernel of TrinityVengeanceRaptorX™ HD 1.3 . After that, I made a serious mistake: I FORGOT TO FLASH THE ROM AND PRESSED "Reboot System".
So now, when I press the power button, my Z1 merely vibrates for once, sometimes with the red light blinking for a while. Yeah, it bricked. Not even show the bootlogo.
Before I flash that kernel, I had backed up my whole system, every partition, so is it possible that I could re-flash the recovery and then restore everything?
Or I have to use a ftf to wipe out everything entirely?

It's not a hardbrick
Just flash stock kernel via flashtool (fastboot) then xz recovery and restore your backup
Last time i flashed mtk cwm as kernel on my z1:fingers-crossed:
