Hey, guys,
My P880 hasn't been submerged, splashed, soaked or wet at all and I'd like a proof of that, but I dont know where a liquid damage indicator might be located. I've watched three disassembly videos and no-one mentioned it. Anyone knows?
I don't think there's such a thing located inside our phone.Never seen anyone talking about it.People just directly drop their phone into bag of rice and pray, no one bothered to look for such thing.
I'm not asking for a repair advice, I need to know this for another purpose.

This white dot next to camera flash is the only thing that looks like a water damage indicator

But it's still just a speculation, and it might not be the only water damage marker in the phone.
Does it look like a sticker?

Well, it looks like a... something white... I don't know, it's under the plastic cover. That's why I asked if anyone knew where are the indicators in 4X.
Here's a picture of the back of the cover

I have had water damage in my phone so it could have been white at some point. Someone else will have to open up their phone to check if it was white

That's the same one, just from the other side of the board cover. So it is that white circle next to camflash. Thank you, @abhi08638, mystery solved. Did you, by any chance, find another one somewhere inside the phone?

I don't recall seeing anything like that but you can check my repair guide thread in the general forum. I have a link to all of the pictures I took while taking it apart. Maybe you can find something I missed

I looked, but no, I didn't see any other.
The white dot on the right side of camera flash is indeed the Liquid Damage Indicator of the phone. It turns red when it comes in contact with water. I know this because I accidentally dropped my phone into a bath of bleach water.
BE WARNED!!
A single drop of water going inside the LG Optimus 4x HD will fully disable and damage the phone. So don't bring it out in rainy conditions or in the shower.

Has anyone try to remove the ugly AY&T Logo from Tilt? I want to see if it can just be scraped off without leaving a mark. I am not brave enough to try yet. Thought I would give it a try here.
Thanks.
Sugar cubes. Works wonders. I've used them on an Apache.
Re: Removing AT&T Logo
I've seen cheap skin packages for $3-$5 US for 8925 on E-bay that will cover the AT&T logo.
I too am wondering about this. The thought I had was if the sugar would damage the dark patina on the metal.
anyone do this yet?
as ay&t is not sending me checks to rep there logo I would like it off my phone lol
I'm also interested in this. Let me know if you guys get it off.

Can you explain more?
TIA
Supposedly you can remove the logo by moving a sugar cube back and forth across it. The sugar is supposed to be hard enough to remove it but soft enough to not scratch the metal.

We are talking about the logo that is physically on the top of the Tilt.
I never tried this, so I don't know if it works...
but shouldn't nail polish remover do the job? if not similar chemical products strong enough to wipe the paint but not strong enough to corrode the metal.

I tried alcohol and lacquer thinner just now...didn't cut it or damage anything.
yea this is the logo that is printed on the top of the device. I see the other write up BUT has anyone ACTUALLY done this?
I am concerned about scratching the dark patina over the metal.

Just buy a new front faceplate. They're cheap enough and you can be sure this one will look good without ruining your current one.

Anyone have any sugggestions on how to remove the at&t emblem from the top right corner without marring the finish?
sugar cube or grains. use search.
DO NOT USE SUGAR, you WILL mar the finish.
Use "Goo-Off" or Nail Polish remover. DO NOT LET IT SIT on the surface. Apply a small amount to a Q-tip and rub in the direction of the grain. (top to bottom on a tilt) So it gently and do NOT over soak the Q-Tip. Go over several times lightly. You want to have several light layered rubs instead of a few heavy ones.
That should do it...

Wrong. This will NOT even phase the att logo. As far as I know, there is no way to remove it without ruining the finish under it. My first tilt (i was returning it anyway for an exchange) I even took an exacto knife to the logo and removed part of one letter to find its kinda etched into the finish under it. Until I see a picture of someones that sucessfully removed it (with no other visible damage under it) in a post here, I wont believe its possible to do.
Yep, I tried all kinds of sugar cubes (cane sugar, crystal sugar, rock sugar) and also nail polish, 100% acetone professional studio strength -- didn't do anything.
Anybody have any bright ideas?
I used thermite to remove the logo and it works great.
Just a side note if you leave it on to long it will eat clear through your phone
This freaking logo is ment to stay for life

I dunno if we mean the same thermite, but the thermite I know becomes very hot if you ignite it! Once it's lit it can evaporate liquid nitrogen (brainiacs)Though you'll need quite some firepower to light it...
Thermite will burn through an engine block. Obviously he's being flipant.

So i shattered my screen on my phone and have been looking into buying a new digitizer but I have not been able to find any guides/videos for doing so. Has anyone had success repairing a cracked screen?
I read on a forum on a different site that someone was attempting to replace the screen but that when it came time to separate the screen from the bezel it got hairy.
Any help would be much appreciated. Using the original blackjack in the meantime and it is killing me!

Here's a video for motorola A855. Not the same but a good starting point. There's more videos to look thru. Read the comments as well, they should be helpful. One dude said he successfully did it with a phillips screwdriver without taking it all apart. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Awesome thanks for the link. I will be ordering the screen within the next couple days and will post results.
If at all possible I will try to upload a youtube video of the process specific to the xt720.
I also broke the touch, as you have you got mounted?
you made the video ....?
know of a link somewhere manually?

unfortunately I have not had the chance to mess with it yet. I ordered it and its at my house, I am just trying to find the time to break everything down. I also made the mistake of buying a vibrant 4g before I fixed it so I have been even more preoccupied with that. I will try to post results this weekend. Sorry for the delay
Interesting. I want to get one of those. However in my case, its the glass part of the touchscreen thats broken i.e. all touch are still registered as if nothing is wrong. Do I need a digitizer or just a replacement glass lens.? Or is it just one big planel (glass lens + touch digitizer)?
Today, I saw this under the touchscreen. It looks like some dust or air bubbles, which are under the touch area, situated directly above the Tegra 3 CPU so can it have something to do with the heat, which come from the cpu? The phone is 1 month old (bought 21/3/2013). I'm sending the phone to reclamation (and want new piece), but I'm afraid that this can happen again.
Have anyone same problem?

Hi all,
I just noticed a dark mark behind the phone right beside the NFC logo and it's quite obvious from certain angles.
I don't use the phone extensively - messaging, twitter, instagram, non graphic intensive games.
Anyone know what caused the mark? I suspect its the processor or graphic chip.
Do you think it's a valid reason to head down to the repair centre and is it covered under warranty?
Thanks.

Looks like you have a screen protector... maybe it's that?
There's a blue z1???
It's more obvious in the 2nd and 3rd photos.
It's a dark square right beside the nfc logo and it's quite difficult to show with a camera
I'm posting to see if I am the other one or if there's others like me too.
I have a white Z1 and I can't see anything below or around the nfc icon
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have a white one also and I can see a sort of "halo" around the NFC from certain angles with certain lights, but nothing worth saying!
EDIT: Now I see, looks like it's about 1"x1" darker spot on the left? Seems rather weird indeed, do you have a protector on this side? You can look at a disassembly video to see if it's close to a processor... Surely is weird!
I can see the square from your pictures and I can say this, back cover is in glass and there is not way that any chip or whatever can do such a thing. Only 2 things can be, 1- the paint of the back cover (which I suppose is not on the glass but is under), 2-Back Plastic protector. I will suggest to take off first the plastic back protector and check if the square still there.
Hi all,
Thanks for your help.
I removed the protector but the mark is still there, so it's on the phone itself.
I'm thinking if the mark got to do with the chip heating up the paint or back panel thus causing the dark mark?

This protector behind is in case you break the glass to not hurt you...and i think it's impossible to heat sufficiently to make a dark mark like that.

The glass has a sticker protector, all Z1 have it in both side.
If you watch this YouTube clip. There is actually a square heatshield for a chip in that region behind the back cover. Maybe that would cause it. I don't know if my eyes tricked me but it looked like his back cover also had that square.
