Bean Stalk 4.4.2 for I9295 = Awesome - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey since I am new and cant post in the official thread I just wanted to say I have loaded this rom and it is working amazing. Only glitch I had was that I had to manually set my APN to get the network to work. Once I did everything that I have tested works great.
Occasionally blue tooth glitches and stops working but if turned back on it will restart.
Great work man I will continue to load your updates and donate if you accept donations.
Thanks
Lawson

I did find a bug that would be cool if was fixed.
I used to be able to load apps to the sd card and I can longer accomplish this.

Liquid JB 4.2 Rom Droid 4 XT894

THIS IS NOW OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED BY LIQUIDSMOOTH.
I am still doing some of my own builds too.
I am running this daily now. Be sure you update to a newer build and flash Gapps when you update.
Get it here: http://d-h.st/search?search_by=2&search_for=jsnweitzel
Rom Slot 1 only and 4.2 Gapps
Updates:
01/06/13 - Keyboard lights (look for the build that says "keyboard lights" in the notes)
01/19/13 - Black call screen fix by Hashcode, fixed a few other bug
01/28/13 - Tether fix
This is heavily based on the STS-Dev Team (hashcode-dhacker29) and the liquid team sources. So a big thanks to them and to cyanogenmod, also to users fattire and redflea. Without their work-sources I will never have even tried this. This still has the same bugs as the other 4.2 roms.
You can find what modified code I used on github here: https://github.com/jsnweitzel.
As usually you are responsible for whatever you do to your device.
Thank you sir! Been hoping someone would port this. Can't wait for the bugs to be ironed out!

Nice thank you
Thanks man, I'm happy to see a new ROM in the making. Hope the bugs get squashed out soon.

I've been waiting for this too!
Doesnt seem to boot if flashed with SS2.11, but not sure if thats the problem. I'm not a fan of SS3 so i wont be trying to flash it with that.. anyone got any findings about the rom?
Installed safestrap 3.11 Stock slot gives reboot loops, but romslot 1 works. Still lost over 1 gb cause of it.. ah well!
I'm from europe and the data doesnt work ofcourse. Trying to adjust apnfis-conf.xml and build.prop using myfishbears GSM patch as a base. Still cant get GSM to work.. anyone from europe got any experience with JB4.1 or 2 and fixed it? It does find my carrier (NL KPN) and ticked on national roaming.
I found a post in the CM10.1 thread with correct settings, but if I try to adjust the settings the phone doesn't boot up.. the files are attached in the zip (the zip doesnt flash though I used adb push to get them on my phone)
I should just make a new post, but think this is more useful hehe I got the patch up and working! So people with a GSM rom can use the patch I attached for liquid rom
Dont forget to put national roaming on!
Thanks to olegfusion and myfishbear for the patch and love the rom (apart from the bugs ofc) so far jsn!

My keyboard lights aren't working :-/ is there a setting that I'm missing? I installed fresh onto the slot-1
edit: Oh damn I didn't see the keyboard lights ROM this morning when I flashed. will try out!
Sweet! What bugs have been noted so far?
Everyone else able to send MMS's? I don't recall sending a picture since flashing but I have also done some contact editing since and want to isolate the problem.
I figured I would post this here as well since it should work for all 4.2.1 ROMs.
Per tweet from dhacker:
“Moto KILLROM users someone tweeted me earlier and stated that if you turn off the lockscreen you can turn the ringtone back on”
I'm at work so I haven't had a chance to test this out. If anyone wants to try it let us now if it works. I'll be testing this out this evening.

I think the most important one (thats why im on ICS again) is that you cant receive calls (blackscreen when ringing) unless you go into vibrate.
Bluetooth is a bit glitchy aswell.
Camera flash only works on focus.
Cant recall if there was anything else..
Respect to the devs on your hard work
Does anyone know if third party camera apps work on this rom? Snapchat, instagram, the like.
Anybody else having issues with MMS? I am unable to send through normal messaging and GO SMS pro.
For those keeping up with this ROM there is a new 01/21 build up.
One thing I noticed with both the 01/18 and 01/21 build is that when I tried to flash over my existing Liquid ROM they both wiped out my gapps. In both cases I ended up wiping system, the reinstalling the current build along with gapps and that seemed to work fine.
Keep up the great work jsnweitzel. Really this ROM.
I suggest you flash the gapps every time you update. I had a issue with the play store crashing too. If you uninstall the updates then it should be fine and will update back to the latest version.
Edit -- the play store issue was with the 11-30 gapps, with the 12-12 ones it works fine. I add the gapps to my dev host folder and a build with the mms fix is uploading now.

jup it´s annoying also got this on cm10.1. i´m on pollux_windy 16GB. it happens everywhere where you can use pinch to zoom. slow movinge the picture/website with one finger causes random zooming.
let´s see if todays build of cm10.1 fixes it it has many changes merged: http://10.1.cmxlog.com/?device=pollux_windy
This ROM can't make use of the MHL->HDMI output like CM 10.1, too, right?
(I think this should then be noted under "Known Issues" because some people want to use the HDMI feature and perhaps wonder what's wrong when they flash this ROM...)

I think to fix erratic touchscreen behavior, the changes in the stock 370 update (which makes the touch work perfectly) have to be applied.

We might have to wait for the CM team to incorporate the fixes Sony implemented in the .370 firmware. All CM based ROMs would get it when that happens.
Hey guys! glad to see some enthusiasm! I've been concentrating on hardware GPS, and hdcp/hdmi. I should have a build tomorrow for someone to test as I don't have a dock to test hdmi.
On hte gps front sadly we may have to wait for Sony. I spent allot of time on it, and I had GPS working, but there is a catch, the device is highly unstable after it loads the (from 4.11 stock) firmware, it randomly resets until the firmware is removed.
I've been in contact with the Sony AOSP team via git and they are now aware of the issue, and have added it to their "wish list" to have the firmware released into AOSP. So we will have to wait for either a stock 4.2.2 update (or leak), or management to allow newer blobs into the AOSP program. Still I feel good I know how to make it work once we do have compatible blobs.
The HDMI thing is a long shot at the moment, not having a dock (I should go get my freebie lol), makes testing difficullt (duh I know right), so if anyone wants to try and test it and logcat the results PM me.

This last statement is absolutely not the case at all, I'n not waiting for CM to do anything, I have my own device tree(s), I started looking at the 370 firmware (for gps), not much at all has changed, I think the touch firmware was updated, I'll try and get those into tomorrow build as well.
awesome!

[ROM] CyanogenMod 12 - Unofficial Nightlies [04.01.2015]

CYANOGENMOD 12 UNOFFICIAL NIGHTLIES FOR HTC M8
This is my first ROM post, I have recently started building CyanogenMod 12 from source with no modifications, initially for my own use, but thought that I would share it with the community, I tend to produce a new build daily.
Flash the ROM at your own risk. I accept no responsibility for any damage that may occur as a result of flashing this ROM. That being said I have been using my builds for a couple of weeks without issue.
The device must be unlocked and using a custom recovery, ie TWRP / CWM
You need a ROM zip and optional Gapps. Links to Gapps and ROM are found at the bottom of this post.
Please wipe data / cache if coming from sense or another ROM, other than that wipe is not necessary.

I haven't experienced an audio bug yet. Please let me know if you do. New build will be up later today.
New build is up....
I don't know what's so different between this build of cm12 and the other cm12 builds but this runs better and more stable then any of the other cm12 builds available
Build is up for today, there won't be a build on 25th or 26th....
Yeah I noticed that this rom works more smoothly and stable too, whatever you've done to the rom, its awesome, cheers dev!
Camera issue
Having some camera issues. The 1st picture works, but next ones won't until a lot of time goes by, or if you you switch from camera to video back to camera some times works. I'm running the 12-24 version on the at&t network.

Google camera from play store fixed the issue. Thanks for the ROM and the suggestion.
Merry Christmas...
Build for today is up, I'm not going to keep posting when a build is released, please check the OP to find the latest release.
Downloading now, I like how people are saying it seems more stable and smooth than other CM builds!
SD card
Is there a way to sort out the storage issue, because the internal storage memory I have is only 16G and most of the applications can't be moved to the external storage. I guess, this is the most annoying thing.
p.s the rom perform well and so far, I don't have any major issues.
Can anyone tell me how to fix sound distortion ?

[FIX][MOD][KK][LP][MM] Calls Not Ending or Receiving on GSM

For the Google search bots: Calls not ending Galaxy S4 Lollipop
If you're running a custom lollipop ROM on a domestic sim unlocked SPH-L720/JFLTESPR and you're actively on a GSM network you may have trouble ending and receiving calls. I spent a bit of time looking for a solution to the problem and found a fix for Kitkat but not Lollipop.
Original KitKat Fix
Like the developer in the thread above I extracted the GSM ril libraries from a T-Mobile based lollipop ROM for the S4 and packaged them into a flashable .zip for your convenience. I hope this will be able to help anyone who has problems ending and receiving calls on a sim unlocked Sprint Galaxy S4.
I've attached both the CDMA and GSM radio interface libs to the bottom of this post along with a mod I call RIL Switch.
About RIL Switch:
RIL Switch actively monitors your phone to see if you are utilizing a CDMA or GSM radio, it then replaces the libs with ones for the appropriate type and restarts the radio interface layer daemon (rild). I designed this mod because I frequently switch between GSM/CDMA and found flashing the libs to be cumbersome every time I wanted to use one radio or the other. If you only plan to use one radio indefinitely I recommend just using the basic libs, however if you're like me and would like to easily switch between the two use RIL Switch. FYI on some lollipop builds it may be necessary to reboot after switching using the *#*#4636#*#*
Edit:
RIL Switch for L has been fixed using "#getprop gsm.network.type" as condition.

Out of curiosity, what ROM were you using, and was it a Sprint-specific or unified ROM?
On KitKat, specifically, CM11-m8-jflte (unified galaxy s4 build) I was able to fix the problem with just a build.prop edit, and no new files:
Code:
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCallU
##CDMA would default to ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCall
ro.telephony.default_network=2
## default would be 10 (CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto)
##
I'm curious to know, specifically if any modifications are necessary in cm-12.1-YOG7DAO1JN-jfltespr, and if so, if the NewDriverCall libraries are present such that a build.prop edit is sufficient?
I probably did this for a spr build as I tend to stay away from the uni builds if possible... I did not know about the build prop edit so that is news to me. Might come in handy later on when I update the fixes. Honestly you'll just have to test and see, but do let me know . I'm going to upload a fix later on that automatically switches the ril libraries based on detected network type (GSM/CDMA). I actually use both on same device! If making a build prop edit and restarting rild works I will incorporate it that way instead of having it replace files in /system which I never liked to begin with...

Thanks a lot for the support.
Glad I could be of assistance.
Thank you for this fix i use my sprint s4 in Asia and this fixed my issue on AOSP 5.1.1 Roms, much appreciated!
Also now that there seems to be a solid build of CM13 released will you be considering posting a fix for that aswell?
Thanks again!

@code3h, did you try CM12.1 without the mod first? Did you experience issues with CM12.1 without this mod? Because I notice that in the current build.prop, the edit that solved the issue on CM11 for me (ro.telephony.ril.v3=newDriverCallU) is already present in the CM12.1 build.prop.
Disclaimer: I still haven’t tried this myself, I just peeked inside the .zip for YOG7DAO1JN.

Yes, first I tried CM12.1 with out mod, I got issues like "Call not hanging up", "No incoming calls". Then I flashed this mod, which worked like a charm to me. I'm not certain about those packages and methods, but this zip file fixed my problems on Sprint Samsung Galaxy s4 (Unlocked).

You're welcome. I can definitely do that! You should see ones for CM13 soon.
Edit: Fixed RIL-Switch for Lollipop. I will work on CM13 rils tomorrow.
Thanks!
I just created this account to THANK YOU for this fix! After flashing a Marshmallow rom (terrible mistake) I started to experience this issue on every rom I installed! I tried so many things to no avail, but this worked! The only downside is that I have to flash the zip every time I install a new rom for it to work properly but hey it doesn't matter! it works!
Again, thanks!
You're most welcome. Just to confirm, did you use the fix on CM13 or did you use it on a CM12 build after installing CM13?

The latter. I didn't try the fix on Marshmallow, just on Kitkat and Lollipop and it works for both (the RIL Switch wasn't working on LP though, but I saw you fixed it afterwards).
Okay I was just wondering. Thank you for the feed back. There is a fix for CM13 now I haven't tested it myself as I am not ready to use CM13 so please let me know if it works or not. I did extract them from a GSM CM13 Synergy ROM. Will be uploading the CDMA RILs and RIL-Switch for Marshmallow later on.

I'm having a f***ing odyssey trying to fix this damn phone to make it work properly, I just wanted to ask if this fix definitely solves the receiving calls bug for all cm12.1 versions, I will test it later on and report back...

Now its the point where everything starts getting mental again for f**k sakes. I can receive calls after applying this fix, but then again I'm losing the sound!!!!!! Damn phone starts with sound normally and then randomly loses it!!!!!!!! This also causing loss of wallpaper, getting a dialogue on the screen that is resetting or smthg!!!!!!! wtf is goin on dudes!!! any ideas???
cmon, please, you are my last reserve!!!
Thanks for the fix!
I have also "message not sent" SMS bug on CM roms.
Could you please upload libsec-ril.so for LP from the same sourse as libril.so and librilutils.so? I'm going to try if it fix SMS bug.
Thanks a lot

All good. I can wait until the next LOS 14.1 build.

I haven't made it for the n8000, because I don't own the 3g to test things on. But, if I can have a tester, I can make one.

I'll make one later this week or this weekend.
Here is a new ROM test build.
I don't plan on updating this new ROM, so if you decide to download this new ROM, go ahead.

lirokoa, your build from last year was great and convinced me to keep my Note for a lot longer. Lots of appreciation for what you did.
Hey sw98, is there a quick way to flash a recovery img without root? I used, I believe, TWRP 2.8.7.0 for flashing your build and it worked perfectly. I'm not rooted, so cannot use the TWRP app from the Play Store, and for the life of me only remember flashing the recovery wayyyy back in the day with Odin.
EDIT: I ask because I wouldn't mind being on the newer version of TWRP that you posted.
Awesome!
Thanks your new Rom, LineageOS 14.1 work fine on N8010.
It seems fixed "settings has stopped" dialog when every boot.
Currently found issue:
-When start stock file manager show "MTP.....host has stopped". I disable it, no errors happened.
-Spen cursor not working.
-Visual touches not working. (In developer options) But I can see it working in the video, using AZ Screen Recorder.
-When open camera first time, device reboot. o_o I disable it and use Camera ICS, though I rarely use tablet camera.

In terms of the S Pen and the visual touches, I would not know what to do specifically about those (since I don't bother about them personally).
The "MTP Host has stopped" error message can crop up from time to time (I have seen it when I delete apps from the Play Store), but I wouldn't worry too much about it. It has never given me any issues.
For the camera issues you are having - the stock camera that comes with LOS reboots the device when you open it. Have you tried installing the Google Camera (whether from the Play Store or the APK)? It should work (I don't use the Note's camera at all, but I believe I have installed the app on the tablet on the past when using LOS 14.1).
Let me know.
I don't know MTP Host's function, but i don't like his existence,
so i disable it, All the file transfer still work fine (upload, download, install, etc),
No error message have occurred so far.
others issues not important for me too,
just report possible issues,
thx your reply.
Wow is this the start of a new dawn for my old friend galaxy note ? I really wanted Nougat to continue and be stable for this device.

Thanks alot - i´ll give it a try with my oooold n8000
Awesome! Some updates going for this stone age old device.
I don't assume you have any plans to work on Oreo 8.1? While Android GO might be awesome in this device, getting the old hardware running might be impossible.
