Just picked up the unicorn beetle pro (the otter box level one ) and just wanted to say it is a great case, I'm not much for writing reviews but can answer any questions if anyone else was looking at this case. It seems super durable, it's thick but reasonably so, the ir /power button has a clear cover so it still functions. The rubber sides are much harder than an otter box and don't pull on and off when you pull it from your pocket like some other cases.

I'll add to the positive reviews of this case. I ordered it early through Amazon so I too got it at a great price figuring I had very little to lose. I'm extremely pleased with most aspects of this case. I'm coming from an M7 with a UAG case so I have something good to compare this case to. Best things about this case are:
-built-in screen protector with tacky back. this keeps the plastic protector in constant contact with the screen so not air gaps like LifeProofs iPhone case
- completely covered plastic power button. much better IMO than UAG's slotted rubber button because it provide tactile feedback
-port covers. keeps the dust out
-very little metal is exposed. the camera lenses on back have the typical case protection but I really like the plastic around the speaker grills. looks good and looks like it'll provide adequate protection from most anything short of extreme sports
The only thing that I don't like is that the back of the case has a slight curve to it versus the flat back of the UAG case. But I figure this is why the Unicorn Beetle doesn't feel so bulky.
I was planning on only using this case for when I'm doing yard work, hiking, or playing in the park but I'm happy enough with it at this point that I'll likely leave it on most of the time. It's a great value, even at the current price. I will watch the price closely on this and probably pick up another one if the price drops.
Here we go!
I popped out the plastic screen cover and removed the residue. Case still fits great with my Nillkin Glass screen protector!
The other case is the regular Unicorn Beetle so you can see the size difference.
Sorry delete
Yeah built in screen protector is not that bad but doesn't work well with a wet apply style below it as I had one on mine , they stick together. I'm going to order a glass one and pop out the plastic eventually but the built in is good enough for now

Btw I have a Otterbox Commuter lol.

Gestures
Got the case today, and seems like a pretty stout case. I removed my clear plastic as I have a SpartanShield screen protector on it. Customized it a little to my needs... Added mesh on the speakers. It didn't mess with the FFC much, but has a slight difference. I need this mesh as I'm a machinist, and have always had to dig out metal shavings. My main concern is since I've installed this case I havent had much luck with getting gestures to work. It seems like sometimes it doesn't work at all, and other times it seems fine. Didn't know of anyone has had this experience yet.
I haven't had any issues with the touchscreen, but I have a glass screen protector. Loving this case so far. Very well made. Way better than my Otterbox Commuter.

Did you remove the plastic screen protector before applying the case? If not, did the glass screen protector cause a gap between the plastic around the speakers?

looking for a flip case or just one to cover the back? unfortunately there's not much choice with our phones
I have this one, it's cheap and pretty good
I use a black leather flip case by PDAir. Costs roughly $28, great look & feel. I've used PDAir cases for my earlier WM phones, so I'm happy with it.

Similar here, using S CURVED GEL CASE COVER FOR HTC Incredible S. Looks, feels nice and it doesn't make phone bulky. For screen I went with cheapest Matte Anti Glare protector. Survived a couple of drops (~2m) on tiles and still works like new (so I guess this would rate as Good )
Ive got the S one too, its got good grip, the sides are a bit rough so theres great grip.
It kind of breaks it up on the back too, I think it looks a bit weird without the case
It adds better feedback for the buttons too
I had This, very nice
I have the case mate barely there,I guess it won't protect very much, but it came with my phone when I bought it (used).
For screen protectors I use HTC Original ones bought on ebay.de (about 3eur 2protectors) they are nice.

It funny because I can't use the phone without it, I think it's too thin/slippery maybe because I had the phone with the cover since I bought it...
Otterbox defender.
Next best thing to Nintenium. Not cheap though.
I use the casemate barely there cover and a HTC original screen protector too. Reasonably good protection against scrapes and scratches, no extra bulk but won't protect against a hard knock or a drop I reckon.

I am using an Otterbox Commuter case.. The back is very similar to the device itself, but it adds a little bit of bulk to it.. (not much though). This case protects your phone against pretty much everything except for water (offcourse). I even dropped my phone once of the stairs and you couldn't even see it. Another good thing about this case is the fact it has two layers: rubber and a plastic case around it. The positive thing about this: the rubber also protects the earphone jacket and micro USB-plug against dust etc.. That was one of my main reasons to go with this case.. not the cheapest though, but it is excellent! Also comes with a screenprotecter btw..

Got my UAG HTC One M8 NAVIGATOR (white) case today. This is actually my 3rd UAG case, I had the AERO (blue) one on my HTC One M7, and I have a the SCOUT (black) one on my work Iphone 5.
Anyways, much like the previous 2 I really like the case, the quality feels good and it feels nice to hold. On the M8 case they put these 4 little grooved bumpers (2 on each side) that give you a slightly better grip which is a nice touch.
This is the first time I've gotten a white case, I'm interested to see how dirty it gets. I was concerned it might look a bit weird with the gun metal color, but since the only part you really see is the speaker grills it looks fine.
My only complaint so far if you notice on the picture the cutout for the main rear camera isn't centered. There is a small silver ring around the camera lens and the top right part of it seems to be covered. Maybe UAG did a bad job with the mold? Or maybe my case was poorly cut. I've sent an email to UAG but what I've seen in the past they are pretty bad at responding to emails. I will update this post if I hear anything.
Anyways for people who like UAG cases, this is another good case for a great phone.
P.S. (knock on wood) I've never tested the drop a ability of these cases, well at least on purpose, I dropped my Iphone from about 3 feet and it was fine, but have no desire to purposely test it.
Would you mind posting a pic of the front of your phone in the case? I'm curious to see how close the black of the case looks with the gunmetal.

Here you go, not the greatest photo but there isn't much to see on the front, its just a black boarder all the way around.
That's perfect. The pictures on the uag website all show white m8's, and I wanted to see the black border with the gunmetal. I can be picky when it comes to a case.

I had a similar issue with my UAG but within a week it now looks perfectly centered. I can see the chrome ring around the whole lens. The tapered flash cutout is a big improvement over the M7 UAG case.

I don't see any noticeable difference with the case on and off taking a photo. I did get an email from UAG last night though, they said they are looking into it. I have noticed over the past day though the fit around the lens is getting slightly better though. Maybe it just needed to be worked in.

IR blaster works great for me. Another plus for me with this case is having the indentations and feet on the back of it. I use those to hold the phone. My otter box has a smooth back and can make the phone feel slippery at times.

Hey guys got my new HTC One M in Silver and keeping it naked. Just added a Zagg Glass protector i got at Best Buy. Wanted to start a thread discussing how is life using a naked phone. Any sleeves being used? Or skins. I was thinking about getting the back of phone sprayed with plastidip for some grip but i dint its a good idea. I'm hoping for a nice slim aluminum case to come out to take advantage of mods on that instead of the phone.
Those that are interested in sleeves or some leather premium feel should check out storyleather. I have a link down below.
http://www.storyleather.com/smart-phone-cases/htc-one-m8.html
I'm currently waiting for the dodocase sleeves as well but storyleather has customizations with color and size if you have a thin case or thick screen protector.
Hey, in go naked when not at work, keep it in a clean front trouser pocket. But it is extremely slippery. I use the freebie case that it came with, at work. I ordered a quicksand tpu case that is very grippy. I had one on my last htc (one x +), I liked it because it's slim. But prefer naked when I can.

Nice, where did you order the quicksand case, may check it out. Yea i'm obsessed with this phone naked but i wish they added some grip on the sides. Yea i hear you, alumimium is bit soft in the metal department so its a bit scratch prone. A pair of keys and htc one in the same pocket would make your phone look like it came out of a cat fight.
Heres the link if anybodys interested in the quicksand case
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271440515122
Solid case right here.... i went naked the first week, but the phone is just too slippery to have out in the elements....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hyperion-HT...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item43c7d9ba6e
Anyway, I got it in smoke and the case is just the right amount of clear to still show off my black M8.. plus the back is a little "frosted" so it adds the perfect amount of grip. The buttons are cutout, not bumps on the case, which also helps me not press volume up/down when pulling it out of my pocket. (noticed i did that a lot). The case has a bit of a hardened bumper to brace the phone.
Have mine a TPU case, dropped my phone at a ball game and found the volume UP button has a nice dent in it now and doesn't work anymore. Fun.
Easily best TPU case money can buy for the M8 IMHO - http://www.cruzerlite.com/cases/htc/one-m8-2014/bugdroid-circuit-case-for-htc-one-m8-2014
Smoke color is perfect.
This case has served me well for the $1.65 I paid for it.
Super thin and has the rubberized coating on the back.
What's the best clear case out there? TPU or hard plastic (I prefer hard plastic, to be honest)

I've never used a case and never had a problem. Most cases are kinda ugly to me, but the M8 has some good looking ones. I'll still be going without it though because I'm going to once again get the car dock like I did for my M7 and my Sensation, and a case won't work in there. I hate the bulky universal docks so I get the nice slim HTC one that you can just slide the phone right into and have it secure and charging.
I am using the Spigen clear case although I prefer the phone naked.
I did put a matte clear skin on the phone to prevent scratches, but you lose the nice feel of the aluminum.
The gunmetal is very susceptible to scratches. I already have a handful of minor scratches but they can only be seen at a certain angle. I think I'm still gonna use it naked and just use a case when at the gym. After a year if the back is really messed up I'll just replace the back with a new one. Etradesuoply has them for $50 and it's fairly straightforward on ifixit on how to remove the back. The only thing I'm not sure on is the NFC tag

I don't think you'll be able to use the tempered glass screen protector. The phone fits really snug in the first portion of the case and the built in screen protector lays right against the screen.
I don't have a screen protector so I can't give you a guaranteed answer, but from what i see, I don't think you'll be able to. Sorry man.

The IR blaster doesn't work, unfortunately. The top strip is clear, but it looks like it's purely cosmetic. I think if they followed the strip through the power button cover, it would've worked. Not sure why they didn't.

Looks slim fitting round the edges then others of similar style. Does it add much bulk?

Nope, it is very slim in comparison to other cases like it. I was surprised at how good it is for the price
I got this case for .01 cents on Amazon thanks to someone on the forums here. I freakin love this case! I originally bought a case from Best Buy for $34.99.. PSSSHHH.. this blows that out of the water.. price? $2.00 included shipping! Scratches? None. The one at Best Buy was full of them right in the packaging even. It was the only case they had at the time since the M8 was brand new.
Adds a little bulk to the phone, but it's not bad.. it's not a crappy iPhone! Those things look like bricks.
Sadly doesn't seem to be available in UK

I just got mine yesterday. It's really sleek and very nice. I encourage all of you to try it out. It's not very expensive, either.

The term "bumper case" must not mean what it used to.

"Bumper" cases came in around the time of the iPhone 4 with antennagate. Purely a case which surrounds the edges only. No back.

No, these new phones dont really use antennas... and it's a case that protects from "bumps" now, i suspect. See-through back.

I was just defining what a bumper style case used to be. Even in later iPhone models where antennagate issues were fixed, Apples Bumper case spawned a whole line of similar style cases for iPhone and other handsets. Companies like Spigen and Draco continued to make bumper cases without rear sections, for design and for edge protection. Latter even made one for the M7 ( http://www.dracodesign.com/draco-one-aluminum-bumper-for-htc-one-m7-black/).
Now it appears a bumper case can mean anything. Bumper to me always suggests "around the edge or extremity". The bumper on a car is at the edges. The bumper in a pinball machine is an edge.
Phones still have antennas dude. They just might not be wrapped around the edges!

Yep. A bumper case with a back is just called a "case" LOL.

He he yup!
I kinda miss not having a "phone of the masses" as the range of cases for iPhone is virtually without limits. Spigen did some really nice true bumper cases made up of two parts one part soft bumper with a harder plastic outer bumper you slipped over the softer one.
Guess it'd be harder to create a bumper for the M8 given its slimmer profile and more rounded off edges. The iPhone was quite squared.

Back when I had my iPhone 4/4s I used to be amazed at how much people spent on their phones protection, it even got to the point where they were buying protection for their cases.
