What sort of set up are you running there?
Stock, non-rooted N1? Or did you upgrade to FroYo over an existing install using Paul's zip? Any applications installed? When is the phone freezing?
Would love to help, but I think we're going to need a little bit more information from you first.

Previously rooted N1 back to stock rom prior installing froyo from Paul's direct install file for rooted N1 because I lacked stock recovery image.
Basic apps installed like ebuddy news apps etc. didn't install anything different from old install.
Like I mentioned phone stalls in while in sleep mode. Need to pull battery. Cannot soft or hard reset phone.
Ive been reading a lot on xda and didnt notice this occurring in pther phones thats y i decided to open a new thread.
Any help is appreciated thanks!

Did you wipe? If not, usually a wipe helps. I wiped and have not had a single issue of FC...Freezing or anything. I went from Enom to Wipe to Paul's Zip with Radio.
I have the same problem. Until now the screen stayed black after the other party ended the call. Had to pull battery 3 times.
Problem exists even after reflashing, wiping and clearing storage.
Im om pre-rooted frf50 from paul. Gonna try with an older radio..

Im having similar issues with my 2.2 installation. I have it installed on my wife's non-rooted N1.
Not just that but the market is not even usable. Even if I clear cache.
Again, her phone is not rooted, I wipped everything from her phone then applied Froyo and its been a nightmare. Her phone isn't even stable enough to use and I cant seem to figure it out.
I need to find a way back to 2.1 without having to root her phone. She is adamant about me not doing that to her phone even though Ive rooted all the phones I've ever used with no issues.
I was having the same problem on my N1. Started suddenly two days after the manual upgrade to 2.2. The phone would either freeze to a black screen or sometimes the live wallpaper would continue but the phone was unresponsive even to the power button. Needed to pull the battery to restart.
It stopped after I:
* Turned off live wallpaper
* Uninstalled LauncherPro Beta
* Removed the Pure Calender Widget (was broken after 2.2 update anyway)
* Charged the battery (was down to below 10% when it started happening repeatedly).
Anyone one of them (or none of them) could have been the culprit. My guess it was one of the last two (PureCalender or battery) but haven't had time to troubleshoot it. Try some of these and see if it helps.
Ive tried all that on her phone. I just wiped it again completely and re flashed just in case that was the issue. Phone still had all the issues described in this thread.
I wiped the sd card, wiped all previous system files via the stock recovery and re flashed the update zip. You cant get anymore clean than that and its still so unstable the phone its unusable. I have to either hope soft booting works or pull the battery as a last ditch.
Is there any way I could downgrade her phone to 2.1 without rooting? I tried the shipping rom in the sticky above but it seems that isn't totally legit for stock use because the phone doesn't like how its signed.
I guess I could call google/htc tomorrow but who knows where that'll get me. The only bonus iud that her phone is not rooted so she didn't really have her warranty voided.

I was worried if I was the only one with this problem. Phone improved today (3rd day of using) but I didn't do anything to it. Only hanged once when someone called. Hanged on calling in screen and had to pull battery.
Only once compared to 7 times yesterday!

Yes until now it does. Sometimes the power button is reacting a little late but i havent had to pull the battery yet with the older radio.
You might want to download it again and flash that to see if you had a corrupt download. First copy all data from the sd and partition it. Just make everything fat. I havent used the stock recovery in ages so I cant recall if you can partition from there, if you cant, do it on the pc. Wipe everything that the stock recovery can wipe. Then try to flash your new download of the update. You can do this fairly quickly and its worth a try before you go through the process of reverting to 2.1.

Older radios are not 100% compatible.
So i'm basically a total noob when it comes to this kind of thing.
I recently rooted my new HTC ONE (International) using a method i found on htconeroot.com
After that the phone could not read the SD card. Every time i open storage in the settings menu it closes.
The phone also would reboot at random moments.
I tried to fix it using some other methods and messed it up. I deleted the original OS and i cant access the backups i made because i switched recoveries from TWRP to CWM. Even when i switched back to TWRP, i couldn't find the backups.
I tried installing two roms (Android Revolution and Maximus) but when i did they would not boot completely and would be stuck on the boot logo.
I cannot flash stock RUU because it is not out yet (1.29.401.12)
I tried to use the Nandroid method i found on this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267435
But the installation aborted for some reason and would not work.
PLEASE can anyone help me find a solution or show me how i make the nandroid backup method work?

Could you send us a pic of your bootloader? That way we can determine exartcly what state your phone is in.
Also, I just used HTCOneRoot two days ago without a hitch (AT&T variant). The first boot takes a good 2 - 5 minutes so maybe you just didn't wait long enough.

Ok so i had a friend of mine who's a tech-wizz when it comes to this kind of thing help me out. He explained pretty much everything but i still have a problem.
I basically erased the system by accident (playing with TWRP), so i flashed CWM and restored my phone using a nandroid backup for version 1.29.401.12, which was the original version the phone came in.
The backup worked although it still has the same bugs that i had when i first rooted the damn thing.
Basically, some apps would just restart themselves right when i open them, such as google chrome. They would eventually open after a couple more tries. The phone is a bit laggy, and would also reboot at random moments, which i think normally happen when i do something with the phone such as install a new app or simply post a facebook status. Is it possible that i might've erased an important system file? Cuz the backup should've restored all missing system and data files.
Oh and i also couldn't take a photo of the bootloader because my camera has the same image taking capabilities of a potato.
So i'll just copy down everything on there.

I looked everywhere but all the threads i found said that the RUU's for the 1.29 base are not out yet so i had to use the nandroid backup instead.
This phone is killing me
I tried re-rooting and giving the phone 10 mins to stable.
I tried flashing AndroidRevolution rom
I tried several nandroid backups, including the software version that i was initially on (1.29.401.12)
Just now i flashed an odexed rom version 2.17.401.1 and it still keeps on restarting.
I'm starting to believe this phone is fake.
Are flashing the boot.IMG through fastboot after flashing the ROM ?

No it doesn't, but normally rooting the device shouldn't really do this, right?
Cause i've looked everywhere and no one seems to be having this problem with the HTC ONE.
Is there a way to tell if it's fake or not?

Hello guys,
So a friend gave me her HTC Desire C as it was slowing down. I decided to unlock it and install a custom Rom.
I installed the CM MIUI rom and i passed the phone to her. After using it, she noticed there were quite a few bugs and if she taps on any option in the middle of the screen, her touches are never registered. This happened after the ROM upgrade.
After 2 weeks, I took the phone again and installed SensationalRomv4. Cleared the cache and everything else and proceeded with the installation as instructed. I noticed that the middle part of the screen isn't registering my touches as well.
I believe it might be a hardware issue. Is there a way to relock the phone so we could send it for warranty? Or will they be able to tell that the phone had been unlocked and would deny the warranty?
Same problem happened with my mobile. when I installed custom Rom first time, after 2 days centre part of the screen wasn't working. So I reverted back to stock rom & gave it to service center under warranty....I was surprised as they repaired it under warranty even though bootloader was unlocked.
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
Warranty shouldn't be voided if you mess with the software. The thing is that if you drop it or overheat it or submerge it in water, several indicators inside the device mark that. Software wise, if it isn't hardbricked there shouldn't be a problem with returning it. My friend returned his Desire X to HTC because of a faulty motherboard and they repaired it for him without any trouble. Go ahead and try handing it to your provider if not to HTC.

Guys, thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.
When the phone boots up, there is a warning text in red at the HTC logo. If I were to revert to stock rom , the warning may still be there during the bootup. Is there a way to remove that warning , or did you not do it and just flashed a stock ROM and sent it for warranty?

Flash stock Rom and then Flash Stock Kernel...Stock kernel will only work with stock Rom and it will also Remove the Warning at boot...
SO therefore you will have to flash Stock Rom as well as Stock Kernel

I am not really sure what the policy is on that. Try flashing stock ROM kernel and recovery and it shouldn't show the text. Then again I'm not interested in the stock stuff and haven't been using them 1 year now so I can't really tell you for sure.
Edit: Hit post 3 hours late. So do that =3
It goes only after flashing the stock kernel.

Ohh Damn!! My phone developed this issue.. And my warranty is also over.. Its pretty frustrating to use it now!
I am going to try to keep this as short and simple to understand. I was trying to install the Google Play Edition Rom and followed a video on YouTube (because I am rather new to rom installation). At this time I also unlocked my boot-loader, and rooted my phone. So rooting and unlocking boot-loader for me and my phone went smooth, no problems. But now I am trying to flash/install this rom and it will boot with the Google boot screen and the set-up for the phone launches, however after 3-4 seconds it re-boots and is in a boot loop of this. I can easily restore my phone to get out, however I am unsure about what I have done wrong. If someone could try to help a noob out that would be great.
Extra Info: Using the TWRP latest edition for recovery menu, not CWR.
I think the OP's are always a little unclear on the exact requirements of flashing tbh, but i believe you need to be S-OFF to flash a GPE Rom.
Also the latest firmware for GPE wouldn't do any harm, although the devil is in the detail

Plenty of info in this forum tbh.
Can I install stock recovery and then try to take a ota to update. Will I loose root and will I loose my rom? Will I be able to reinstall a rom or will I need to reroot?
you can try, you shouldn't loose root or anything but once you have unlocked and flashed stuff I doubt stock recovery will like your system enough to take the update. try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53518227

From my understanding, as long as /system is stock, you can install the stock recovery and then take the OTA. Afterwards, you'll need to re-root your phone. Make a backup of your current setup before you get started. Once you've taken the update and get rooted again, you can always restore your backup.

Must be the fact that I am s on. We need that s off before we can do anything as far as updating
This one is tricky. I flashed the stock rooted rom from mikmik, I then unrooted and flashed the stock recovery via fast boot. When applying the Ota, it fails because the build.prop is not stock. Comes back with an error like /system/build.prop unexpected.

I just tried it to and did the same exact thing except I had boot loops as we'll.
when I flashed back to the stock recovery to take the recent OTA, I had a reboot bootloop like every 2-3 minutes, I was ready to throw the phone against a wall, then it hit that I read recently someone else had the same issue, and mentioned a factory reset fixing the issue, yup after a factory reset, the reboot bootloop was gone, I just now rerooted and flashed a backup

Hey everyone.
I've spent the better of the last three hour scouring the inter webs, Google, and these forums trying to find the answers to my questions - but to no avail (I've found partial answers, but I am afraid a partial answer could lead to a total brick).
Here we go:
I bought one of the first Sprint HTC One M8's through Amazon. Here are the details:
Model: 831C
Android Version 4.4.2
Software Version 1.12.651.17
Unlocked but S-On (Using TWRP)
Naturally, right out of the box I rooted it. However, I did not save the original ROM.
* I want to restore the phone to its original state so I can accept the OTA update and hopefully address the god-awful cell signal.
I've found a lot of stock recoveries online, but none that match 1.12.651.17.
Do I need to find that specific recovery to flash to my phone? Will another one work (e.g. 1.54.654.13)?
I've never worried about saving my stock recovery in the past (been rooting since the HTC Evo days) but it looks like not doing so finally caught up with me.
Thanks in advance.
PS I did find something 1.12.651.17 related here, but how to flash this to my phone (or whether or not it will brick) is beyond me. I've downloaded all 6 files and am waiting to figure out how the heck to get them to my phone.
