With all that out of the way, what I wanted to know was what specific, necessary apps are included in his ROM, as I suspect my high battery usage might be due to VZW and LG bloatware reinstalling itself from my Titanium Backup after successfully flashing his ROM, since I was running a rooted stock. My mistake, I realize, but I also noticed that I can't activate QuickWindow after flashing, even though KitKat works fine otherwise. I figured asking what apps are on the ROM might given me and others an idea of what is going on.
Also, could the battery drain be fixed by letting the phone go through a full charge/discharge cycle or two? I've heard that this has fixed similar issues on previous Android builds.
Thanks.
PLEASE DELETE, PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY SYSTEM/DATA/DALVIK/CACHE WIPING ON MY END.

I recently upgraded my wizard from a wm6 rom to another and started to notice the battery indicator dropping much faster if I'm on EDGE networks (but maybe also with GPRS, I'm not sure). Since I didn't flash to the official rom before, I thought I had the common battery drain, so I did this: full backup using spb backup, remove hardspl, flash to original qtek rom, hard reset, flash updated radio rom, softspl, flash to wm6 rom, hard reset, restore previous full backup.
The problem is that I'm still noticing the battery going down faster than before. I'm not sure about it, because with this new rom I have a more reliable way to measure the battery, but before flashing all over again and reinstalling every single program (lots of time) I wanted to ask if my method of flashing does solve the battery drain problem (and therefore this is normal for this rom) or if this method does not solve the problem and I have to do everything without the full backup.
- check if processor speed is always high. Latest BatteryStatus allows variable speeds according to the needs of the OS - calls it CPU scaler;
- check if bluetooth or infra-red are turned ON as they drain some energy;
- check the backlight. Mine is always at the minimum and works fine in almost all occasions (except under bright sun light)
- disable Today timeout
- check power drain with a new battery (if you can get one)
that's all i can think of. maybe others can think of other reasons.
good luck
maybe I didn't explain all... I know what can cause greater battery usage, and I try to avoid it, but comparing the previous rom with the new one it seems the new one uses more battery. I also know this can be a "feature" of the new rom and I don't mind about it, because it's really much better. What I want to make sure is that the battery drain is not caused by improper flashing, because that's just wasting battery for nothing.
ah, right.
I don't think there's such a thing as 'improper flashing' when the new ROM works ok. Except for not performing a hard-reset afterwards i guess nothing can cause that kind of power draining, although some have mentioned corrupted extended-rom but i can't vouch for that
Currently I DO think there is something like 'improper flashing'.
I've read about it in another topic as well.
Since I upgraded to WM5SE rev4 I suffer from a severe battery drain.
For some time I suspected my dual sim adapter (did change to that one about the same time as upgrade), but even without adapter the drains stays wel above 100ma!
Until now i have eliminated all other possibilities.
The best way to upgrade to any custom rom appears to be:
- Flash to an official ROM
- Flash the custom ROM.
I seems to have something to do with the ExtROM that sometimes get 'a bit' corupted causing tha battery drain. Flashing an official ROM makes sure youre device is all fresh before getting the custom things on.
ok, but I already did that. The problem is that I'm still seeing some battery drain, especially if I'm on an EDGE network. I just wanted to know if restoring from a full backup using spbbackup after flashing properly could be the reason or if I must find another cause.
Sometimes can be a Today plugin that is performing some task all the time and that might cause battery drain.
there used to be old topics on that matter so i guess you must dig and raise some dust to get it clear
now that you mention it... there is a new plugin in this rom, I'll disable and test. But I still find strange that when I'm on gprs the battery drain is almost inexistent, but on edge is really big

Did you solve your problem?
I can't!
I have experience some issues
When I started trying PDA VIET Roms i feel like I got a new device cause it has superior speed but its caused by An app called OmapClock PLUS that enables an overclock, thats why the speed but it has too many batt drain... so i leave the PDA Viet Roms... I always first downgrade to an original ROM Wm5 then upgrade to a Custom and then hardreset... of course sometimes with a batt at 55% (enough to flash) but Mr SVI on his first release BrightRom has too much Batt monitor... it causes too a batt drain cause the reload constantly by itself to show batt drain... disable all. and no more problems jeje even on his Hornet v1.1 it has drain for me.
Somebody tolds me that I need to reflash my device with a batt at 100% but i didn't prof that solution so if you like to check that. tell us how is it going.
Hope it was usefull.
So a few weeks ago i installed fresh 1.1 and loved it. then the kernel came out and i installed that over fresh and couldn't believe how fast my phone was. unfortunately after having the kernel and setcpu my battery life was suffering too much so i got rid of the kernel and setcpu. I didnt have a nandroid backup so i just reflashed fresh over. Now i only have fresh 1.1 and the 2.1 icons and my battery is suffering tremendously still. I have the mugen 1800 battery and i lose 20% of batter life in 2 hours with only minor texting. I figured maybe i just needed to reflash fresh to fix this but the problem still exists. after reflahsing 4 times. What should i do? should i wipe the phone and reflash or what. Also what is the process to do this if it is the recommended solution?
well first I would go in and check your awake time vs up time menu>settinmgs>about phone>status. if your awake time is the same or close to the same as the up time then you have something keeping the phone awake, either an application or something else. if your awake time is high go into spare parts and choose battery history and then choose the "partial wake useage" and since last boot option and see what program is keeping the phone awake.
if your awake time is normal then I would try booting to recovery and wiping data and delvik and then reflash fresh1.1
another leasson learned about making a backup before you change anyhting.
do i sitll need to do the OTA update to fix the sms issues or is that included in fresh?

Also remember that setCPU (fixed in the later versions) was initially resetting it to "performance" mode each time you restart. The newer versions fix this, but it's still worth a shot.
Are you running lots of widgets? Sometimes those can suck battery. for instance, the weather channel widgets are terrible at keeping your phone awake at all times. Weatherbug is better.
I am having trouble with the OG Droid draining battery while it is off. I power if off, just like usual, with 100 percent battery life. Turn it on in the morning and it is at 50 percent. I remember this happened a LONG time ago, on Froyo when VZW dropped the first Froyo release. I can't remember what I did to fix it.
Currently Running:
Liquid GB 2.3 (soon to be 2.4)
Wiped batterystats, still to no avail. Is there a particular way or method I should use to re-calibrate the battery?
Recently cleared the Davlik-Cache, which seems to have resolved a slew of other issues, but it is when this battery crap started.
Titanium backing up everything here now, nandroid backup, then wipe and reload to the latest version to see if that fixes any issues. I didn't know if anyone had any insight into what maybe causing this? I think I read it is when a process gets stuck and never fully shutsdown.
I am using a sprint m7 that has been RUU'd back to stock 4.4.2 after problems with flashing a rom. The battery life doesn't last from when I go to school at 8 to coming home at 4 with maybe an hour of use. This is a shot of my stats: http://i.imgur.com/ATWiQ6t.png
Now, there is an update available, but after I download/install it, it takes me to through the setup process and literally wipes my data after the reboot.
Now, I don't know if there is actually something wrong with my phone, but I have had some really bad experiences with attempting to flash roms recently, and I always end up having to ruu back to stock.
Here are my wakelocks: http://i.imgur.com/kBEzRVv.png
So, does anyone have any suggestions about improvement or what I should do? I have seen many posts in many different places online, but there is really no clear, concise fix known. Thanks.

Are you rooted? If so, install Greenify and run it. It's great for solving wakelocks. I had some battery problems for a while myself, and found the biggest culprit for me was poor service / searching for service. Sounds surprising, I know. I've also read (and found it to be true), that you need to give your new operating system 3-4 full discharges of the battery to get an accurate feel for battery life. One other thing I've noticed is when the green LED comes on, it doesn't necessarily mean your battery is 100% charged. It will slow the charging to a trickle that can take a long time to completely top off your charge. For instance, I would unplug my One, and 10 minutes later have 95% charge and have done nothing to show for it.
Between RUU's, you could always make a backup on your computer of your important data, that way you can keep it stored in a safe place. I prefer going the USG-OTG route, but that's due to my so-so computer.
Are you S-OFF, and what recovery have you been using? I'm also curious what ROMs you have struggled with. I've dabbled with a lot of different ones and have finally settled into 2 different Sense6 Roms.
Hi
I recently upgraded to LMY48M (flashed it) on my Nexus and I've been getting this battey drain issue where the battery is draining really quickly, almost half the original life.
I tried googling this issue and learned that this in fact is an issue almost everyone is facing with LMY48M. Is there any fix for this?
I am on that build and not having any issues. You might try booting into recovery and clear cache/dalvik.
Sadly this fixed nothing. Battery still drains after clearing cache.
I know for a fact this isn't a hardware problem though because it works fine on LMY48i
I had same issue and did a factory reset and its fixed it.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Radio active bug...,I flashed mine back to 5.1 and everythings fine again.
Have you tried to figure out what's causing the battery drain? There are plenty of tools available to help you determine what's draining your battery. It could be any number of things and you've given us nothing that will allow others to help you.
I don't know a lot about this I'm also new to the forums and don't know how stuff works and what I need to 'provide' in order for you to help me. Kindly name 'those number of applications' that can help me?
OT: I cleared the cache partition and it fixed the problem minorly but still didn't make it perfect like it used to be.
Also factory reset which again; might've helped but only a bit because the battery although is better than it used to be, but still isn't running perfect like its suppose to.

Nothing to figure out there. Radio stays active, even when youre in wifi. I only flashed 5.1 and it went away, just as I wrote in my comment.
"Radio active" is meaningless, since the radio is on a separate chip from the CPU.
Go into your battery screen, tap on the graph, check the WIFI activity bar. I've occasionally seen it where if you turn on your wifi AT ALL, and then turn it off, it keeps on being "on" until you reboot.
You can also go into your wifi advanced settings and turn OFF "Scanning always available". Not sure if that fixes the problem of it staying on or not, but doing that also is likely to help with wifi power consumption.
According to BBS, GSAM, and the native battery monitor, my radio isn't on all the time using LMY48M.
