AT&T started rolling out 5.0.1 this morning to Note 4.
Stupid me
I checked for an update last night and now have to wait 9hrs before being able to check again. Oh well. At work anyways.

Just sent a tweet to Rogers telling them AT&T rolled it out now and asking how long it will take for us to get it. I'm not holding out much hope for a reply.

And tell you it's TBD. My old co-worker who now works at Rogers looked into it and apparently Samsung isn't releasing that information. As he said it's policy it classify devices that don't get support as TBD as to not piss off customers. Aka it's a coin toss if they are going to release it.
AT&T isn't the same as our devices. The closest we can get is T-Mobile. If and when TMO gets the update we won't be far behind. At least we shouldn't.
Yeah, I know of that link and they have pointed me there before. I've had a dialog going with them actually. I would like to rattle their cages "in public" as much as possible and Twitter is a good way to do that. I really was surprised to just get the Note 4 about 2 weeks ago, thinking it was the current flagship phone and then find out they have no idea when they are going to release Lollipop on it. Just bizarre.
A coin toss? How can a phone that hasn't been out for even 5 months yet not get Lollipop?

I was referring to the 5.0.1 update. It's very possible they will just lazily skip it and go for 5.1
If thats the case we most likely won't see a LP update this year. Remember Samsung had the oportunity to start LP in June and it has taken them 9 months just to get to this point. Considering no Canadian Carriers have been informed of the update even arriving, meaning they have not tested them and that in turn could create another month or two of testing. It's also been disclosed that Samsung has no plans on working on 5.1 at the moment. Let's assume that they wait to give us 5.1 instead of pushing 5.0.1 out. Since they have not even started 5.1 we can assume they might start in two months (Highly doubt it would be that quick). Then if we take the first time frame we add another 9 months plus the fact they wait a month after they build (check the build logs) we are at a total time frame of 12 months out for a single update. Skipping 5.0.1 would mean a total of 21 months of development time before the first actual LP update.
Of course remember this is all assumptions and theory based on what we have seen so far and I could be totally off. At least I hope I am.

Just the usual AT&T crap... Google Service needs to be updated after Lollipop installs, GS took multiple attempts to finally install, otherwise you keep getting a notice that the update is required.. Not sure if was just me but I had to reboot a few times to finally get the Install option to pop up..
So far I'm liking Lollipop, Visually much more appealing..

I hope badboyz MM will still have the sprint spark icon spinner. I love that thing.
If I do take the ota and go back to rooting, would the MM roms possible work better having the MM blobs that captain was talking about? I know band 41 was having issues on the GPE, so I had the crazy notion this would help or work.

I already said that once we have Sense Marshmallow that I'd add the blobs to GPE. Of course I'm not having any issues with Band 41, though, but I'll still offer the blobs for people that are.

The OTA has been delayed until late next week (as per MO Versi) and the RUU was pull off of that link, likely due to the fact it did not work.

I was asking the same question on post #11 and #12 kindly referenced a link which gave a brief explanation. Seems like Sprint missed one update(didn't send us) and so the security based on that one couldn't be used. My understanding...
Well the RUU for the HK edition is back up and available.
Anyone else get the pie update today too?

It's really nice. The UI design is awesome and great user flow. Very smooth. I heard people *****ing about the beta a while back but I'm all in. You should get it soon. Att is usually butt ass slow so yours should be around the corner. ??
Maybe Verizon will push it soon. One thing I really miss about my pixel 2 xl.
Yes Downloading mine now AT&T
Once you have a few hrs in with the update let us know your experience. I'm anxiously waiting for my update from TMO. I read somewhere should hit US customers on Monday Feb 4th 2019. Few more days for us but would like to see user experience with the new version.
Already found a few things I don't really like. Can't relocate clock in the status bar, can't see the calendar dates unless you find a good theme. It's going to take some getting used to for sure, but I like the new updated look

it is really no different: then Oreo but that's just my opinion :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::good:
Has anyone actually received the Verizon Pie update? When I check for updates through OTA and the Software Update Tool, it still says that the May 1st update is the current one.
I'm on Verizon as well and haven't received the update OTA nor through the update tool. Verizon's changelog says it was released on the 27th, hopefully by Monday they actually push it out.
Nope. Been obsessively checking since Friday and tried the thing to clear data on Google Services Framework and force the download, but that didn't help either.
It appears Verizon has now removed any reference to the update on their Z2 update page.
Crap, you're right. I wonder how long we'll be waiting

Here you go
Would someone with the OTA be able to copy the below link and type in their serial number at the end? It is an OTA capture tool and the last bit is for the serial number if this is a serial staged roll out. Without the serial, Motorola's OTA server is sending a denial. If it does work, can you download the OTA file and share it?

I highly suggest not trying. 4 phones already got bricked trying to take the Pie update on a variant it wasn't for in the discord. Two got baseband issues and two more won't boot or show any signs of life.

Were the failed phones tmobile or sprint variants though?
The sprint variant is way closer to the verizon than the tmobile one, hardware wise. I can run stock Verizon Oreo on my sprint for example, and even enable stuff like wifi calling on native verizon.
Does anyone think the clock in the top left looks weird?

That is very much an interesting development. I converted my Sprint Z2 to a Verizon Z2 and saw on the discord that a few people were having issues with bricks, I just assumed the update itself was killing the phones. It's quite possible that there is something that is killing these phones. Some sort of check to verify the integrity of the phones or something. Though it's quite annoying that my phone is continuously trying to update itself despite the fact it can't take the pie update.

That is indeed the case, I am running the Sprint Z2 Force with Verizon Firmware and it's working fine, even WiFi Calling and VoLTE. The issue now is that Pie is trying to download itself. I would like to try to update the phone and report back if it decided to kill itself but I can't capture the OTA.

Yes, I hate it and have been trying all of the options to move it (system UI tuner and other status bar apps), but none of them worked for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I've side loaded the last 2 monthly updates but want to try and wait for January OTA. Has anyone from AT&T received this months update? Other forum seem to show all other carriers released the update but nothing from AT&T.
Did side loading possibly prevent me from getting ota's?

I caught your lighthearted lol, but AT&T has nothing to do with it. New images are posted like clockwork every month, both OTA and full. If AT&T is messing with your update, how is it that your image is waiting for you every first Monday of the month? If you don't want to wait your turn in the phased roll-out, there are options.

It was a genuine laugh actually, I chuckled when typing it because of how much has changed in life for me over 2 years. If I had the time to do all of that still I would definitely do it myself but getting an update on day 1 when it's released would be nice, even the first week would be sweet. I waited forever for the November update to hit my phone so it isn't exactly a smooth situation by any means.
You are absolutely correct though, there are other methods available to those that don't want to wait and they aren't difficult to do, especially with all the guides out there to follow.
Gave up waiting myself and sideloaded this month too. Every forum I've gone to it seems Pixels on AT&T, unlocked from Google or from them, seem to be on the waiting list for the update. Hopefully with a "Global" version in January (Japan excluded) the updates from here on out become more routine.
