[Q] Sense Apps on AOSP - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I searched around the forums but I couldn't get a decent answer.
My Question - Is there any way to get the Sense Apps working on AOSP and/or GPE roms on the HTC One?
Background info - I know AOSP lacks sense framework but has anyone been able to port a flashable zip for minimalistic needs?
I'm particularly after the Contacts, Widgets, Camera and Gallery Apps.
Thanks!

No, Sense apps require Sense.
GPE ROMs are available, but you won't have Sense, so I'm not sure what you expect.

How to install Rosie

Hi,i would like to install Rosie onto my G1, I believe its called rooting?
Ive read that Rosie is unstable and allot of things don't work on it, And then ive read other places it all works now. Is there any good full functional releases? I would love to have a flash player on this phone. Also where can i find good tutorials on how to install a different ROM such as Rosie?
Ive never done nothing like this , but i'm sure with a good tutorial i can do it.

You need to follow the guides on here to root your phone, then you need to update to a special radio and the newest spl. These guides are readily available on here if you look: I found them, i'm sure you can too.
Rosie is a part of the ROM for the HTC Hero, HTC's latest phone with Android underpinning it. It is essentially an alternative 'home' for Android based on their Touchflo interface which they've been using in a lot of their Windows Mobile devices.
The Rosie UI has a lot of cool widgets, along with a nice multitouch browser with flash support - HOWEVER it is only Flash 9, and I found a lot of sites just don't work. there is also multitouch in the gallery in some of the releases I've tried, along with some much improved apps, such as the music player.
There are some MAJOR drawbacks at the moment though:
1: slowness - the ROM is not designed for the G1, and it is recommended that one uses App 2 SD to move applications to the SD to free up memory. This does help a bit, but lag is still an issue, particularly if you want to use lots of widgets. I personally don't like using Apps to SD, so I'm waiting for a slimmed-down ROM
2: SMS - a LOT of people (myself included) are suffering lost SMS messages in these ROMS. I have been forced to move back to The Dude's Cupcake ROM until a proper fix is found, since I'm a big texter and dont like the idea of losing messages and not knowing about it.
3: Bluetooth. As far as I'm aware there is no Hero ROM available yet with working bluetooth. This may or may not be important to you. I quite like having it to hand but I can live without it.
4: LED notifications. The LEDs with these ROMS are completely non-functioning. There was a semi-fix in one of the ROMS but this was removed and at the moment there is still no sign of a ROM with fully-functioning LEDs - annoying if you like to be able to glance at your phone and see if you have a message without turning the screen on.
These are the only MAJOR issues I've come across in my use of these ROMs, any other problems were fixable, or corrected with updates
Thank you for your reply, Maybe i will wait.
Are there any other roms you might recommend ?

Slow Sluggish Laggy cdma Sprint hero? Does a clean rom help?

So the cdma hero is a slug. Don't try and tell me otherwise unless you've used something as fast as an iphone 3gs, blackberry, etc. And if you're saying it's great but comparing it to something other than 1.5 htc sense ui then that can't help either.
How much improvement does a clean rom on a rooted phone give? (basically just nixing sense ui alltogether)
Vanilla android should help speed things up significangtly, however I'd try some other things before doing that. I just recently installed a compressed Rosie, removed all the applications and widgets that I don't use and disabled a bunch of start up items, now the whole thing is quicker it seems.

2.1 Apps (Launcher + Gallery)

Just wanted to ask why it is that the 2.1 roms out there don't have the new launcher or gallery apps?
For me the most exciting thing about 2.1 is the new launcher but every 2.1 rom I have tried still has the old pull-up tray. I was under the impression that the main things that made 2.1 visually different to 2.0 were the new launcher and gallery?
You have to remember that the developers are trying to "port" this stuff over from the Nexus One... a new phone with a 1ghz processor and more RAM than that of our G1s and MT3Gs...
That new Nexus ONE also has 3D hardware acceleration. This is the primary reason why the gallery and app menus from 2.1 "Eclair" work well on it and not our phones.
Have patience; we'll get them soon, but it will take time to get it working.
Thanks for the response rbrainard.
I get that it probably won't run very well on our older tech. But I just found it weird that it wasn't included in at least some of the roms just as a proof of concept type thing?
Or, is it just that those two particular apps won't run on our phones yet? Constant FC's or something?
It's more or less a "backporting" issue...
Like taking a sweet looking Windows Vista Aero theme and getting it to work on Windows 2000... ??? If that's a good analogy?
The way those softwares are currently developed is specifically for they hardware intended... As we have different hardware... a software revamp is required.
This rom has them, as well as live wallpapers, in the beta version. I've only used the basic rom though, so I can't comment on how it works.
Yeah i saw that one, really impressive that they've managed to get it to work so far! I guess now we just need to wait until someone manages to resize and optimize the App to work on our smaller screens / processors.

[Q] COMPLETELY stock android rom

hey guys
so far im loving not being restricted by s-off anymore
i installed mike1986's rom and its great, but theres still too much sense in there for me, i want to try the phone with NO sense whatsoever, is this possible?? (i used no-sense 1.5 to remove as much sense as possible)
basically i want a google nexus s rom, which i will tweak with apps such as go sms etc.
the thing that annoys me is having options that i dont need (eg all the facebook integration in contacts which i wont use, same for gallery) - and so id rather have too few options than too many.
is this something that already exists or is possible? i couldnt find anything over in android development.
thanks
Why not get bloat freezer and freeze out all the crap, if you end up freezing something that causes instability at least you can unfreeze it again (well unless you freeze out something really critical, in which case you will need to revert to a backup).
ill do that, but as well as that i also want the stock gingerbread gallery and contacts apps, for example - as they don't have sense integration.
can anyone advise if theres an obvious reason this hasnt been done?
or if it has can someone point me in the direction of it?
thanks
go port an aosp for it and your done.
reason why it aint done, no tree for the incs has been created which is perfect atm
we are busy with it (heavily testing, attn1 and kali coding like mofo's etc.etc.) for cyanogenmod just wait...

Best way to get get N9 Snapdragon to be as basic as possible? Reliably?

My buddy got a new note 9 and needs help getting it back to as basic, stripped down as possible.
He's used to AOSP ROM's on other phones where there are no bells & whistles.
Just Internet and camera and like five other apps.
So, debloating, removing all the crap from status bar and pull-down menu.
I see there are no reliable AOSP ROM's available, so we need to do all this with the stock ROM.
I can root it and get rid of system apps, but I'm not sure what all can safely be removed.
And it's not my phone, so I can't use it and fix it as I go.
I need to do the work and then hand over the phone to him.
Also, does xposed GravityBox work well on the latest stock Android 10 firmware for this phone?
I figure that might get him a few mods he needs for an AOSP feel.
