wich tablet is better? - Asus Transformer TF701

im want to buy a good tablet my suggestions is those :
asus transformer pad tf701t vs samsung galaxy tab pro 10.1
wich is betteR?

I had the tf701 but now I have Sony xperia z2 tablet. The z2 is much more premium compared to the tf701 I had. Spend a little extra and get the z2 tablet. My humble opinion.
Sent from my SGP511 using Tapatalk

the asus got a keyboard dock... the z doesnt...

701T imo is better WITH so much SD card port. You can have 500gb of space on it. 128gb micro SD, 128g. SD card and another USB 256gb flash drive.

But it would be very expensive :/

Your seriously asking question that question on an Asus forum? You do know the answers will be bias. Both have their pros and cons. ATM - you very more bang for your buck with the Asus. It's at its lowest price ever.

I too am looking at the TF701T or the 2014 SM-P600 Note 10.1.
The TF701T is cheaper, but heard its performance is much less than the 2014 Note 10.1.

They are about the same performance wise.

While not perfect I think the only thing ASUS is lacking is good handwriting with a pen. I dont know how that is on others. But it would make up for it with quality. Built to last. Optional dock etc. tegra4. A sturdy affordable device made for developers.

Thinking of selling Transformer Prime with dock for Nexus 7

The more I read about this tablet, the more I want it. I currently have a ASUS Transformer Prime 32GB with the keyboard dock and im thinking of selling it to buy the Nexus 7. Besides the screen size, is the Nexus that much different than the Prime? Will I be downgrading if I were to sell it?
Sent from my Asus Transformer Prime using XDA Premium HD
The state the Prime is in currently, its definitely not a downgrade (except the screen size, you'll lose sdcard slot and hdmi out too if thats a big deal). I/O is much better on N7 as well as everything else. I wish I never bought my 201

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Asus Nexus 7

Hey guys. I was interested in getting your opinions on a plan of mine. I've had a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for a year now and I use it mostly for content consumption, browsing during flights, etc. I haven't really used it to watch movies, mostly just read articles on Pulse. Now on Ebay, I could definitely get at least 200 dollars for my tablet, most likely 250-300. My question is, do you think it's a good idea to sell my tab and buy the nexus 7? I currently have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon that's rooted because Verizon takes too long to update, but If I got a Nexus 7, I'm not sure if I would even root it, because it is an official AOSP device. Also, do you think the transition to a smaller screen size will really affect me? Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks
P.S: I need to either make a net gain or break even, so please don't suggest tablets that are more than 350 bucks.
Yes, buy a nexus 7.

Look into the tf700 or tf300. I have both and in my opinion they are two of the best tablets out there and JB is already being released on the tf300.

You have to much $ and need to learn to be generous once in your capitalist life....
I had a Transformer Prime with a 10.1 inch screen before I returned it for a Nexus 7. I actually prefer the 7 inch screen as opposed to the 10.1 inch one. I don't know how good your user experience has been with the Galaxy Tab, but I really did not like my Transformer that much. I love my Nexus 7 and think it is definitely the best tablet choice right now.

Definitely get a nexus. Best so far!

I've a Galaxy Tab 8.9, Sony Tablet S and the awesome piece of gadgetry that is the Nexus 7. I haven't touched my other Tablets since I got the 7. Infact, the Sony Tablet S is now, along with it's cradle, nothing but an alarm clock and storage device (thanks to 64gb storage) for me. The nexus outperforms my sisters iPad 2 too. I do however think you should root it anyway. I rooted mine as soon as I unboxed it, the Nexus 7 Toolkit is extremely simple. Some of the kernels people have created are outstanding, definitely worth the root.

Nexus 7 Alternative - Nabi 2

The Nabi 2 had tegra 3 with 12 core gpu
yes is built for kids but thats just software. as for durability it can be dropped from over 7 ft and not be damaged (youtube videos showing it)
pros
+very durable
+clocked at 1.3GHz stock
+2MP camera vs nexus 7 1.3MP
+microSD supports up to 32GB (possibly microSDXC 64GB but not confirmed)
+miniHDMI out
+does have root with fully working market and gapps
+bluetooth 3.0
+OTG compatible
+PRICE
cons
-no internal gps
-screen resolution 1024x600 but at 120dpi barely noticable
-no custom roms or kernel yet
-1.3lbs vs 0.75lbs of nexus 7
-battery life is about 6 hrs compared to nexus 7 rated 9.5
best buy keeps changing the price right now... was $129. Then earlier today changed to $169, now its $199. so it keeps moving around... i ordered 3 of them after i bought my first from walmart at 129 during black friday and rooted it and was very impressed with its performance.
i was so heartbent on getting a nexus 7 and was just waiting for 32GB to break $200 barrier but then this tablet popped up and now i forgot about the nexus 7
maybe cyber monday will bring good deals?

Good luck getting timely updates with that, or any decent development at that. Most tablets have a very small or non existent scene except for the Asus Transformer and Nexus as far as I can tell.

If they keep putting this thing on sale for $130usd(Walmart Black Friday, Best Buy sale, Woot, etc) then there will be a lot of them out there. It's hands down the best value for a capable 7inch tablet.
Already have a custom recovery, root, so we will see how it goes from here, so far the kids and myself have been enjoying it quite a bit.
I purchased 2 of these for my kids and played with both of them for 2 hours a piece setting them up. They are pretty awesome. Plus they have hdmi out, micro sd slot , and I believe usb but I could be wrong on the last one. I now am looking at 7"tablets nexus 7 32gb now after playing with thier tablets. I would like a better screen and jellybean than what's on the nabi 2.

You should definitely pick up the Nexus 7 tablet. Just remember to pick up a case to help keep it protected. I'm having a hard time putting my Nexus 7 down.
If your kids are young keep them away from the Nexus 7. They seem to be a little more fragile than other tablets.

I think the main con there is never getting system updates.
Nexus ftw.
I don't understand this post. There are lots and lots of poorly supported Chinese 7 inch tablets for less money than the n7, and some of them are quite good, but what you don't get with any of them is a broad user community and google support. The n7 has one huge flaw (no msd card slot), but is otherwise a great tablet with a huge user community and regular google updates. You really can't compare it to the Chinese tablets.

Tf701

I absolutely LOVE the way the keyboard of my tf700 works as a keyboard and battery. However- even with cromi, the device has major issues (slow/lag/flash lines occn). I am reluctant to trust asus again- heck- this device (700) got rave reviews too!
Are there any other devices with a similar keyboard like this one that can hold charge? nothing by samsung/ or lg???

The tf701 is the upgraded version of the infinity, packs a tegra 4 processor and doesn't seem to have the tf700 issues.
Also there's the hp slatebook x2, same processor and I think same ram (2gb) but a lower resolution.
Check them out in a store I'd say

Is the Tf701t available in the UK yet? I had a look on Amazon and Ebuyer but they cannot be found when I search All sites say release on 21st October, which has been and gone but I can't find it to buy.
I'd swap my TF700 for a TF701 in a heartbeat

I sold my tf700 and am planning on getting the new infinity.
Keep your eyes open, it should be available one of these days\(weeks?)
It's online in webshops in Holland. But I'm waiting to get it at a particular store here, it will be easier for warranty returns and what not.
I have ordered a tf701, set to ship on 11/3. Ordered from eBay, ordered the dock via Amazon (saved $30)
I love my tf700, but the memory issues really cripple this device. To bad really. I would not upgrade it if it would perform as advertised. Off to eBay it goes. At least it will cover 75% of the cost of the new one.

I got the TF701 today after 2-day shipping from NewEgg on release day. The lag issue is not present, which is nice. I sold my TF700 after a month of use because of the slow storage lag issue.
Loving this tablet!

[Q] Update tablet to new TF701 or save and just go with the TF700?

Hello everyone. I'm a longtime follower of, and lurker on XDA. I always have appreciated the amazing work that originates here, and the time and effort that so many put forward to making this the definitive hub for development for tablets, smartphones, etc. That being the case, I felt that I could do no better than to trust the opinions I might receive with my following question.
I've been using my 32G TF101 w/ dock since they were new, and while I have the tablet rooted and tweaked (thanks again xda!), I feel like the device is nearing the end of it's usefulness to me. I'm gotten used to my Samsung GS4 for quick and light use, but when I switch back to my old trusty TF101 for a little more screen real-estate the tablet is almost painful to use. I know this disparity will only increase as my smartphones continue to get newer/smarter, and my tablet continues to become more woefully outdated.
I'd love to update so that the gap might not be as noticeable. Considering that I've managed to be content sticking with my TF101 for this long, I'm really on the fence with this decision. I don't know whether I should consider paying the none-too-inexpensive cost of bringing myself up to date with the 64G flavor of the TF701, or save a few hundred dollars and just be happy with the performance boost that a year 1/2 old TF700 would offer over my current tablet, despite the fact that the age of it might put me back in the same boat I'm already in much quicker.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! :good:
If your you're willing to unlock and use custom rom then the 700 is going to be a capable device as long as you don't play HD games on it as some if not most HD games don't play as smooth on it. Stock form it's a pain to use and suffers from I/O issues so it tends to lag and stutter when you're downloading or transferring data. Custom rom helps but the I/O is still present but is definitely better than stock. The 701 is the best Asus 10 inch tablet out right now and it's great stock. So if it were me I'd skip 700 completely and jump to 701. There are other great tablets out there as well like the Samsung note 10.1 but no kb dock. The best performer IMO is the hp slate book X2 but you're stuck with 16gb and lower resolution and warmer screen. But its the cheapest at $450 with a kb. Seeing that you're considering a 64gb model you're not going to be happy with that. So I think 701 is your better choice. Just read up on the 700 forum so you know what to expect if you decide to go for that device instead. I've had the 201 and the 701 each for about a year.

Try one out in a shop when possible and be amazed how quick and lagfree it is.
Screen of the TF700 is already very good and the TF701 screen is an improvement but not a big one. Higher resolution you only can see with apropriate content.
Tf701 is a big step forward in speed and when Asus manages to solve the dock connection problems there is no real competition, specially for this money!!
Hi,
i replaced my TF300T (Tegra3, 1Gig) against the TF701 and this is a huge step forward, just talking about the overall performance with ASUS ROMĀ“s. I mean the TF300T was okay, but really laggy and had a lot times to think (stucks for 1 or 3 seconds). The TF701 is as good as instant to use (browse in desktop mode and stuff like that).
Yep Display also is much better, Keydock feels not so nice but i write much faster on this (better anyhow, i dont know why).
I would go to TF701 if you can sell TF700 for a good price, or check a head to head in any store or try one and if you dont want to hold the new one which i did not think, send it back
So from my side ASUS was 1st with Transformer Series, and i like those a lot. I used a TF101 and TF300 and 700 (but still owned the TF300T) but since the TF701 the Transformers on android are usable without any kind of "problems" or waiting or stucking or what ever, thats really amazing.
So if you want to see how fast it is, go to youtube and search for slatebook x2 vs nexus 10, and the nexus10 is a really really fast device if you will have the look against Tegra3 devices. Also ASUS spend faster memory in the TF701 than in series before, it runs much much better.
Regards
aVa

I did downgrade it to Cromi 3.4.7. where the draining of the dock is absent.

I understand why you suggested this, because the HP Slatebook x2 is a Tegra 4 device like the TF701T, but people who have had both the Slatebook x2 and the TF701T have said that the Slatebook outperforms the TF701T, probably because of the Slatebook's lower resolution.

It's not just games. I have the slate book and it's butter smooth no Stuttering 99% of the time even with simple tasks like portrait to landscape transition. Once you have this kind of experience it's hard to appreciate other devices. At least in my case. I can honestly say this is as close to it ipad user experience as I'm gonna get on an android. My roommate with ipad is surprised as well.

Still strange.
I have my third unit now (due to the dock connection problem) but none of them suffered from stuttering or lagging.
In the local Media Markt they had the slatebook X2 as a demo last weekend and I gave it a try but I see no real difference in performing normal tasks and on games they had installed compared to the Tf701.
But the better screen of the TF701 was clearly visible.
Thanks to everyone that responded. I seriously appreciate all the time and opinions everyone shared and the information put forth.I don't play many games on my tablet (guess I should have mentioned that), as I've got a nice desktop at home for that, but it still sounds like the TF701 should be my primary choice.
Now all I have to do is wait for the 64G flavor become available, and hope it does so before ASUS decides to muddy the waters of my decision by releasing an announcement about a TF800 or something along those lines.
