What I'm iffy about as well is do I run the ruu from bell again that's gingerbread then do the ota ? Because h-boot I thought couldn't be downgraded ? I hope a dev sees this .I hate People having to put up with All the echoing in the phone calls

So you did go back to S-ON before you OTA updated to ICS? (too much jargon )
Did you unlock the bootloader and flash a recovery after? Did you install the other kernel from the supertool and did you get root?

I havent S-ON prior to do this, it worked perfectly. I only relocked BL with fastboot oem lock then RUUed then OTAed. After that I reunlocked BL and, flashed twrp recovery and flashed my rom (already rooted )

So it seems when you flashed a custom rom, it's the rom that gives you root access?
I'm on the stock OTA but can't get root. Should I flash another kernel?
I don't necessarily want to run a custom rom but want root.

If i was you and i wanted to get root, id do it manually instead of doing it via supertool. Look in the stickies of the dev subforum to get the procedure. Otherwise PM me maybe i can help you

IF YOU ARE S-ON UNLOCKED: FLASH THE STOCK RECOVERY AND RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER, THEN RUN THE RUU IN FASTBOOT.
IF YOU ARE S-OFF: RUN THE RUU IN FASTBOOT.
Yes, caps is necessary. S-OFF is convenient in many ways.

Totally agree with that. Otherwise, your phone could be transformed into a BRICK.
*warning* noob content!
I used the Vivid_All-In-One_Kit_v1.2 to unlock, root, and install the clockwork recovery.
The OTA ICS update fails - it just goes into fastboot and that's it.
So I'm guessing I need to install the original recovery?
I tried finding that, but have been unsuccessful, any help provided is welcome.
Do I also need to apply the stock RUU? Where do I find that one?
On my old Legend HTC support actually supplied me with the stock RUU.....
you should be able to download it from htc just make sure you relock your bootloader if it is unlocked before running the ruu
Hi.
Used Renove S-OFF and 4.2.2 custom firmaware.
Now I can only access to fastboot mode and nothing more. Tried everything I can, but still cant flash stock 4.1 android. So help is needed.
Here's what I did:
1. locked my bootloader and after that everything went bad.
2. Flashed firmware zip 1.29.401.12 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
3. Now trying to flash stock ruu, but getting error 140 (bootloader version error), tried these http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...13323127-1031113105-release-310878-signedexe/ and http://bugsylawson.com/index.php/fi...2706-1027112701-release-308001-signed-2-4exe/
4. And yes, no nandroid backup
5. HBOOT version is 1.44.000
Could someone with some loose time and understanding help me out of this problem?

your probably flashing the wrong ruu if you do s-off and supercid you can flash any gsm ruu

At what point here did you get to
How to flash?
(bootloader needs to be relocked)
Re-lock your bootloader (this will most probably wipe content of your device)
Copy downloaded .zip to fastboot.exe location (e.g. c:/SDK/platform-tools/fastboot.exe)
Re-name .zip file to firmware.zip
Open command prompt
Boot your device in fastboot mode (vol down + power ===> fastboot)
Connect device to the PC
In command prompt cd to fastboot.exe location
Make sure you have correct modeid and cidnum (type: fastboot getvar all)
Type: fastboot oem lock (if your device is not relocked yet)
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.

It's written before s-off so it's not 100% but theirs a lot of good info in it

The recovery is broken, and the rom doesn't boot.
I can enter the recovery, but as soon as I try to wipe data or install a rom, it reboots. I tried "fastboot erase cache", I tried reflashing CWM and TWRP, and I tried ADB Sideload on both, same results.
The only way for me is to run RUU, but the problem is, any RUU that I try says "The ROM Update Utility Cannot update you Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
I am s-off and supercid on hboot 1.55, with the 3.57 firmware. Any ideas on how to get the RUU working? Thanks!

which RUU are using? you probably have to change CID to SuperCID.

For other RUUs check this site: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
I find HTCdev way too confusing, as it clutters everything together, you can easily download a RUU for "HTC One S" instead of "HTC One" (aka M7)
And since you're S-Off downgrading is no problem
Hi,
I want to send my HTC One in for repair, so first I need to restore it to stock.
However, I recently updated my firmware (and hboot) to the new 4.4.3 base (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793539) so right now I am (s-off) on hboot 1.57.0000... Is this a problem when sending it in since this firmware isn't officially released yet (or is it)? And if it is, is it possible to downgrade my hboot?
Also, must I flash the firmware WITH the red warning before going S-on and locking the bootloader again?
I have flashed the stock odexed ROM, boot.img and recovery from the ARHD site (http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.nl/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html).
Thanks in advance for any help!
No that firmware isn't officially released yet, it's still in testing stages so you will have to downgrade your firmware to 5.??.401.? Lucky for you this firmware comes with hboot 1.57 however if you have flashed a modded hboot/firmware ie to remove red text, then you will need to flash an official one, just find the official firmware package and use that, it comes with the hboot inside it, if you s-on with modded firmware or hboot you will have an instant brick.
The arhd site your got the Rom from should have the firmware package too.

Great, thanks! I will flash the original firmware in a sec, but the most recent RUU I can find is this one: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...0-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
And I am not sure if that is also based on hboot 1.57 and because of that, if I am able to flash this RUU. Currently I am downloading it but the download speed is terrible, I will report back after I tried.
Or are you saying that I can flash the stock firmware 5.xx.401.xx on top of the current 6.xx firmware? I thought that wouldn't be possible because I'm currently on a higher firmware version but I'll give it a shot!
If you are s-off, you can flash or downgrade anything, however I would personally flash the matching firmware to the ruu that you are downloading, however, the firmware and hboot will be included in the ruu and be downgraded when you run the ruu, so just run it, once it's finished and you boot the phone, you can ota up to the latest version.

You may have to remove the TAMPERED flag before running the ruu and also lock your bootloader, not relocked as the ruu will replace which ever recovery you ha e on your phone for the stock one, sometimes the ruu requires a locked bootloader whether s-off or s-on.
Once it's finished, boot the phone once and then back into bootloader and check the hboot version, if it is lower than the version you have on there now then you'll know you have stock hboot and should be safe to s-on, however like I said before, make sure your locked and tampered has gone before setting s-on (not sure if s-on is required for warranty)

Unfortunately I don't know that, there's been some reports it comes back after you s-on not after the ruu, I think it's HTC 's way of catching you out, others say it's been fine, are you sending it to HTC or your operator ?

However , if you've had s-off with that phone before, chances are you'll get it again, you'll just have to do whatever you did before to get it, then go back to stock again, and send it s-off.

No, s-on will prevent you flashing the wrong RUU. Anyway I'm 99% sure there will be no RUU availabe for you phone. WIth s-on you can only flash RUU that are same or higher version then what was on the phone before. There is no 4.4.3 RUU except for t-mobile which is not your version.
So unless you achieve s-off, you will not be able to use a ruu.
But there might be some others alternatives to bring your phone back to stock like a reset rom, stock odexed rom or a nanadroid backup,
Unfortunately, if you can't tell me more on your device (CID/MID and firmware version). I can't help you more and I cant point you the stock rom, reset rom or nandroid backup you need.

still need to know:
your CID
your MID
What version number is currently installed on the phone
s-on or s-off ---> s-on
locked or unlocked bootloader --> unlocked
The fact that your phone is currently running CM11 is irrelevant for finding the right ruu. We need to know what firmware version is on your phone (example: 5.12.707.104)

by using fastboot: "fastboot getvar all"
Obviously, you can't have these info if you don't have the phone in your possession.

If that phone was s-on and on stock 4.4.3 before, it should be on hboot 1.57 which mean you'll need to use a 6.xx.707.xx stock rom/reset rom/nandroid backup. Not even sure if you'll need a .707 version.
There is a 5.xx.707.x reset rom in the general section. Maybe it could be that one, maybe not, but you could download that one so you'll be ready tomorrow.

its a flashable zip with the aroma installer. Its a stock rom and stock recovery and radio are included which mean you are supposed to be able to flash ota after flashing this zip.

It's not about Flashing OTA!! Will he receive OTA ? Directly thru the phone ?

its a stock rom so yes. He will be prompted to download and install the ota normally.
But if the phone firmware (x.xx.xxx.x) doesnt match that rom version (5.12.707.104), the ota installation might fail.

Okay!! Will that Flashable ZIP Works ? What's the worst case scenario ? I can't ask the owner Coz he's n00b!!
wait
I found another reset rom, its a 6.13.707.106 version which is the latest version I think. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001611719
so tomorrow, check the getvar all, if the version main is 6.13.707.106 then flash the zip linked above
if the version main is 5.12.707.104, flash this one: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567720676
in both cases, when flashing the zip, you'll be prompted to install stock recovery, stock radio and root. Say yes to install stock recovery and radio but say no for root.
btw, give yatindroid a thanks for these roms in his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/stock-rom-reset-t2802061

Yes they are often used by many ppl here. Flash it using a custom recovery, no needs to relock the bootloader, once flashed, the custom recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery so he will be able to install future ota updates.
What's the worst case scenario ?

the version-main doesn't match the 2 reset roms linked above.
