trouble upgrading to 4.4.2 - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently on 4.3 and I am not rooted (anymore). I'm trying to upgrade to 4.4.2 but when I check for software updates in settings, it says that I am currently up to date and I can check again in 24 hours. I'm definitely on 4.3.. I'm at a complete loss. Any information would help, Thanks in advance!

Check out mazdamiata's thread in general section. Just a heads up too, you cant go back to 4.3 if you do the official ota.

If you want to update to the official kit Kat follow this guide. You won't have ability to root if you do.

If you want a custom rom install safestrap. There's guides in the general section.

[Q] Uninstall CWM? N7000B

Hi all
Hopefully I am posting this in the right place.
I am in the process of learning how to flash custom ROMs etc. My phone is currently rooted and I am thinking of installing CWM from ROM manager so that I can update to a newer Android version.
My understanding is that if I backup my stock ROM with CWM before I flash a custom ROM I can go back to my original ROM but the kernal / CWM recovery will remain
My main question is how do I "uninstall" CWM later if I wanted to return my phone to a stock warranty state. I believe that flashing a stock kernel will achieve this, however, I haven't been able to locate a procedure and the files specific to my phone's model (GT-N7000B, on 4.1.2).
Thanks in advance

Thanks for link. There seems to be a wealth of info there. Apologies for a silly question but may I ask what is the best way to navigate this thread since there are 280 odd pages. There is a guide at the beginning, but it appears to be the oldest post. Would it be better to work from the newer pages and work backwards (from page 280). I did a quick search in the thread but did not see much reference to the N7000B. Hopefully it is fully compatible with the guides and files for the N7000.
Thanks

The first posts are updated with any newer roms and procedures, all the info is at the beginning. Personally I read through the last 10 or so pages to familiarise myself with things to watch out for or avoid.
N7000B is compatible with N7000 roms and rooting.

There is a thread for the international version but what you need to do is get an apk that changes your "custom" status to "official" then you will be able check for updates. I do believe this thread will get you started. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383484
If you have deleted any apks then it may mess up any updates you take. Or go to sammobile and look for 4.4 firmware for your phone and use Kies to install.
The 9005 can receive it's latest update thru kies, or by going into the settings menu, tap general tab, and scroll down to about device, then system update.
I have only change the md5 file with kies not the rom....I wanted to make the phone rooted not to change the official rom...can I correct this problem with my updates without change the official rom from my phone??? Or is there any app to do that???

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do.
Are you trying to gain root?
Are you trying to upgrade your firmware on your phone?
Are you trying to change something else on your phone?

I see.
The other reply that I made with the link in it. Follow that link and install what it tells you to install.
After you install it you can make you phone show an "official" status which will allow you to check for updates.
I do not know where the guy in the YouTube video got his firmware.
There is firmware available for the SM-9005 at www.sammobile.com but they seem to be country and carrier specific, I do not know as I do not have that phone.
You may be better off getting instructions in this section of XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3?nocache=1&z=7992070960968063
Good luck and be careful not to brick your phone.

You will probably lose root. It will not reset Knox to 0×0.

Sir I think you're looking for opinions on what to do and that's not what xda is here for. You're not even in the right sub forum for your device. We can talk forever about the pros and cons of custom roms over official releases. If you're worried one bit about knox counter, then do the official release. If you're comfortable with modifying your device and you can follow directions, I recommend you focus all your attention to this sub forum for your device here! The omegadroid link you attached can be found here on xda! I highly suggest you read through the 3000+ posts that users like you made. That might make up your mind for you.

Yes I think it should be fine if you do it via PCC, it will just erase your root

Is there any benefit to updating to NL1 from NJ5?
I'm running NJ5 rooted now and cannot find if there is any difference between the builds?
