Hi there,
Has anyone already succeeded in connecting the "Polar H7" to the HTC One M8? The H7 is intented for iPhone, but it also works for some Android devices (Samsung S5 for ex.). The official "Polar Beat" app isn't compatible with the M8 device, but the app "BLE Heart Rate Monitor" should work with the H7.
But I can't see to get the H7 paired with my device. I Already tried removing the battery and wearing the H7 while trying to connect.
Anyone who can help me ?
I'm on a custom rom ViperOneM8 1.3.0 and using Kernel 3.4.0-ElementalX-0.6.
Thanks in advance
Mike
I'm in the same boat. I click to pair it and then it goes right to Last paired on:......
For a BLE HR sensor to work on Android, the app must specifically support it; not many of them do yet. If your app is compatible, you do the pairing from within the app; not from the main bluetooth settings.
(I don't have a Polar H7 but I do have a Zephyr HxM which is also BLE. I'm using it with ithlete).

I'm new at this, but i've scanned over and read everywhere looking for a solution, but to get to the point, is there anyone that has found a stereo bluetooth headset that works on the A7?
I bought a GoGroove Airband headset in hopes that it would be compatible, it says it's A2DP, and the Elocity website says that devices with that profile should work. I'm currently using Dexter's 1.2, and i've tried the official firmware release from elocity as well with no success. Most all of the bluetooth devices with the exception of my Samsung cellphone have been in the "Paired but not connected" loop. It essentially just keeps trying to reconnect.
Am i doing something wrong or is this maybe something that can be fixed in a later mod from dexter
Sorry to make this drag out but I would just like to know if anyone has been able to get their bluetooth headsets/devices to work and what devices/brands they used or tried.
Thanks in advance

I have been using the Motorola S305. It connects briefly the first few times but eventually on the third or fourth try the connection sticks.
Ive been wondering about those, but from what I have read, only the headphone (stereo) part would be a2dp compatible. The mic parts probably use HFP, HSP or AVRCP.
I picked up this headset because of you. I love it! Big ups brother!
motorola knockoff S9 doesn't work.
I have 3 s9/hd from dealextreme.com. $22ea. They pair but do not connect. Insignia headset works great, as does motorola dc800 and sony car stereo.
The Firmware Update from 2/24/11 has resolved the issue with the GoGroove Airband headphones. They now Pair and connect without problems.
I have been using Insignia NS-BTHDP Bluetooth from best buy (I think you still can get them on ebay) and they work fine, I am using dexter mod 1.1
I have s9 HD from moto they work just fne and I'm using dex 1.3

Hi...
Anyone could help me!
I've recently bought a Polar H7 Smart Bluetooth heart rate monitor, but it can't pair with my SGN2. The original bluetooth software of of neither find the Polar H7 device.
Same applications find the Polar H7 one of them shows the heart rate, but the other's doesn't works, like endomondo ( this is the app that i use to workout).
There is any way to force the connection, or auto connection, with some script or in the terminal emulator?
Thanks...
Try with Runtastic Pro. The connection is made from the Runtastic app settings, not from the BT settings for Your Note2.
Report Back.

Hi,
As the questions says, I've got a garmin heartrate monitor working with the ANT+ app but I can't get any other app to see it (mainly runtastic pro) - wondering if anyone has any success with it?
N.
I might trying updating to the latest firmware, currently on 14.1.g.1.518.
I've got a Garmin monitor, and a PowerCal monitor running with IPBike. I tried to get the Garmin Fit app working but there's no option to add the sensors.
Iam using My tracks and Garmin heart rate monitor.Works well.Dont forget to download and install ANT Radio Service.

Anyone using ANT+ with anything but the stock ROM?
I'm using rooted stock rom(NUT .757), but ANT+ is not working.

Oh no that is a nightmare. Maybe I won't be upgrading then!
I'm on NUT's .136 and ANT+ is unreliable but just about works. For example when I run an ANT+ app, the bluetooth icon appears. If I close bluetooth, ANT+ stops working! Both bluetooth and wifi continually switch themselves on without any intervention from me on this ROM. Anyway, the ANT+ often mysteriously stops working during a (bike) ride and I either have to toggle bluetooth on and off (twice) or reboot to get it working again.
Good luck, I do not think many Android devs are also fitness orientated.....
Doh, you cannot turn off BT, that's how the ANT+ works on the device.

Interesting - I was using my Samsung Galaxy Nexus with a ANT+ dongle which did not exhibit this behaviour i.e. I did not need bluetooth to be switched on to enable the ANT+. And my understanding is bluetooth and ANT+ are separate radios. Do you know different?

That because Bluetooth and ANT+ are integrated in the same Chip so you have to enable Bluetooth to let it work. In Samsung probably they are separated. Many Manufacturing use different Chips Radio so some can have this behaviour.
I recently upgraded to the latest (4.4.2), lo and behold bluetooth is not activated when I use ANT+

That don't mean Bluetooth and ANT+ are not in the same chip.
Since the Z1 supports Bluetooth 4.0, therefore following the Android 4.3 update - does The Xperia Z1 now support Bluetooth Smart?

OK, so I borrowed a Beets BLU Bluetooth Smart Heart rate monitor and it would see the device in the available devices list occasionally (1 out of 4) but would not pair, I also borrowed a Garmin Premium HRM (ANT+) and could not get that to connect at all.
I could of course be doing something completely wrong especially with the ANT+ device as I can find no instructions on home to pair the device
instructions or help with either?

You might just have be having the typical 290 issues with Bluetooth where devices can't pair. Maybe someone else will chime in with more feedback, but I don't have any BLE devices to test.
Ok So I managed to get the ANT+ device to work by installing ANT Radio Service & ANT+ Plugins from the play store following guidance from this website
http://www.thisisant.com/consumer/ant-101/ant-in-phones/
Which was really helpful, especially as the Z1 is slated as being ANT+ native supporting but still needs additional software drivers installed, but there is nothing on Sony's documentation to drive you to this conclusion.
As for the Bluetooth 4.0/Bluetooth Smart device still no joy - Anybody any further ideas or is it just a case of waiting for a bug fix?
Install BLE Heart Rate Monitor from store. In the settings pair with your HRM. Don't try and pair through phone bluetooth settings. Bluetooth smart isn't designed to be paired like this apparently.

Thanks for the info - partially works, connects but drops the connection routinely even after refreshing the Bluetooth system , as suggested by the app - probably needs a bug fix
This happens sometimes unfortunately. I had no problems on my Nexus 4.
I would like to understand whether it's possible to activate bluetooth 4 and bluetooth "classic" individually. The background: I want to use a bluetooth 4 tag in combination with tasker to automate certain things once the tag is within reach. I got a Texas Instruments SensorTag which is recognized by the Z1 and can be accessed via the TI software. Tasker is currently being improved to play with BT4 devices. The issue is that there is just a single bluetooth switch within Android, but of course I want to avoid the power hungry classic bluetooth and use bluetooth instead.
Any ideas if there is a solution? Maybe via an Xposed module?
Cheers,
Torsten

It is already BT 4.0 as long as device you use has it too, no further activation needed. If you try to use it with device that has older version like BT 2.1 functionality of BT 4.0 will be downscaled to work with older version.

Many thanks! This sounds good! To be fully sure: once a BT2.1 device disconnects, BT falls "back" to 4.0? The longer I think about it I wonder whether it really makes a difference if a phone waiting for a connection is using BT2.1 or BT4.0. Do the 4.0 improvements have an effect on the power consumption before the connection is established?

It is more like imposed limits by older version go away. Power consumption in BT 4.0 is more like: little power used to connect, pair and then it uses more power when large amount of information needs to be transferred (like opening higher bandwidth based on Wi-Fi that uses more power for shorter period of time). While discovering device awaits connection it consumes very little of battery on either 2.1 or 4.0. from what I can see versions of BT evolve in added functionality that is based mainly on transfer rate as well as better power management.

Hi there,
I just wondering if somebody could help me with this issue: I have a GEONAUTE CARDIO BLUETOOTH SMART (4.0) sensor and it works with any Android phone, except with mine... earlier I used it with Galaxy S5, but I have tested with Galaxy Ace 3 and Lenovo S90 and it works fine. On the other side, my Galaxy S6 edge does discover and connect any other bluetooth devices (such as smartwatch, speaker, keyboard etc.). I tried nearly anything but without any result. I even think of buying a new heart rate sensor and a cadence sensor as well, but I am a bit confused after all. Do you have any suggestion regarding the issue? Or do you already use some kind of heart rate monitor or cadence sensor (even ANT+ devices)?
Any response would be highly appreciated, thank you in advance!
Kind Regards,
Balazs
