Thanks for your help. This doesn't work either. As soon as I hit the last * it erases everything that I had typed and just sits there.
I'm also open to any guidance or help in how to return the phone to the stock rom. I'm running a Mac so I know that it can be more difficult to do everything.
Anyone care to help someone that has no idea what they are doing?
is there any code or custom rom for activating thr diag..?

I'm also using Mac and it's very easy to get back to stock.
All you need is adb and fastboot then use RUU zip for your CID and MID.

well, i dunno why but it not seems to work for me. I did everything as per the instructions.
1. fast boot uncheck, flight mode
2. USB debugging on
3. downloaded revolutionary, got beta key
4. removed HTC sync, installed latest drivers
5. connected mobile in "charge only" mode
6. opened revolutionary as administrator
7. entered beta key
"Waiting for fastboot" .. it doesn't seem to be going further.

Did you download the HTC drivers from the Revolutionary documentation page?
Sounds like a driver issue to me.

As tpblake notes, this problem is usually associated with the HTC drivers.
Try installing the drivers given on the Revolutionary page
OR
try installing HTC software (Sync i think?) which contains these drivers.
it should work

at last!! after lots of tweaking, my phone is finally s-off and rooted. Thanks for the awesome support guys.
Good day, I have a HTC velocity 4g running on ICS 4.0.3, rooted. Unfortunately, when i tried to view my recorded videos in gallery, it keeps on crashing saying "Unfortunately, view video has stopped". but i can record and take pictures with no issues, and also i discovered the stock music player also crashes, also saying " Unfortunately Music has stopped", can somebody please help me as this is very hassle on my part. I just bought this phone from a pawnshop. I tried hard resetting the phone 3 times but still the error appears, and also when i bought this phone it is already rooted. I hope someone expert here can help me, im a newbie in android. Thanks in advance for the help and god bless.

Get an ruu from HTC website and run it...
It will return your phone to stock and hopefully fix your problem...
Just make a back up of your media that you have on your internal sd

RUU = ROM UTITLTY UPDATE
basically a stock rom update for the a carrier/manufacturer
eg:
Official AT&T Vivid ICS RUU from HTC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564776&highlight=ruu&page=3
[STOCK] RUU_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_BM_ for bell mobile http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662390&highlight=ruu
If you have a Velocity, you probably don't have ATT.. so don't use that RUU. here are all the Holiday RUUs (http://www.filefactory.com/f/002b74e0f4775869/) (thanks @Football)
Oh i see, so I need to download a RUU to update my velocity? do i just need to connect it with the usb cable after downloading the RUU? Thanks for the help. Its really mind boggling for me to understand any customization or upgrading a phone. Thanks for the help

if i remember correctly.. in order to install a RUU
You must have a locked boot loader ( locked by default) , so you need to check if yours is unlocked , which I suspect it is since rooted.
I think u will also loose ROOT.
after you run the ruu , its easy to relock the bootloader and root
get familiar with the SUPERTHREAD and the hasoon all in one tool kit...
I'm the proud owner of a new HTC One and have unlocked the bootloader. I'd like to root, and I've done quite a bit of searching here and elsewhere on the subject. Can someone point me in the right direction for information on rooting the HTC One specifically?
Any advice and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I've tried that, but it doesn't want to work for me. I get a "device not found" error whenever the command line box opens.
Reboot the device to fastboot and then close the first screen. Do the option to install custom recovery Team win then go into recover and hit reboot when it reboots it will ask you if you want to root. It's a ***** to set up HTC ADB driver in windows 8 64 bit sometimes but chances are the fastboot will work and if you've already unlocked the bootloader then you are good.
Never mind. I can't even get the newest version of HTC Sync Manager to see the phone. It keeps telling me the device isn't connected. Whenever I plug my phone in the drivers for Android Phone fail to install. Frustrating as hell.

To use ADB or Fastboot your phone has to be in USB Debugging mode Set this in Settings/Developer Options on the phone.
My HTC One is bricked and is not starting, HOW should I do that?

Manners cost nothing and generally help you to get a reply.
That being said, without further information it's hard to help..
What did you do to brick?
Can you get to bootloader?
Can you get to fastboot usb?
The more information you provide, the more help can be offered. Remember WE aren't holding your phone. WE can try things on it. That will fall to you, all we can do is offer suggestions based on as much information as you can provide.
If you bricked it trying to s-off or burning an RUU or accepting an OTA whilst you had a modded hboot then things might not be looking too good but without knowing, there's no help we can offer.

My HTC was kinda bricked 2 hours ago. Can't charge can't boot to recovery or boot loader . Only thing was try to reset using hold power + vol down but wasn't working . The capacitive buttons keep flashing forever
But I used the adb commands to get it back booting to recovery .
U need the adbfiles in the same folder as cmd command prompt usually it's win 32 if u start it in administration mode .
Type adb reboot bootloader

its best to put it in the same folder as the cmd starts from
Also its advisable to keep à rom zip handy in yr sdcard . In case things go wrong u dont need to rely on adb commands

Hey,
I didn't mean it bad. Also I didn't want real help since I actually gave up my HTC One...
Theres a big link in my signature with my "need help" topic.. Maybe you do know how to fix my One ^_^
I accidentally posted this in HTC wrong section. There I found out this to be a Sprint one.
Hey guys.
I am back. After a long time. U guys helped to fix my HTC orbit.
Now I got another one. It's got no OS when I got it.
I am posting some pictures for better presentation.
Front
Back
The issue I have is seen below.
Closeup
All I can get to from the phone is what you see in the picture.
I need a good ROM for this.
Please advice what I should do.
Thanks
It appears to be a Sprint One
You can fix it by running the RUU found HERE
thnx bigdaddy619.
Are u sure it would do the trick.
I believe I have to update thru sync manager.
I downloaded the HTC sync manager and and tried to see if it detects the phone.
I don't think it does cause I do not see my phone android version or sense version or anything in sync manager.
I can see the Android USB Device in the device manager. I believe the USB drivers are installed. The phone changes to FASTBOOT USB when I connect the USB cable. Means the phone enters FASTBOOT automatically.
Do I still go about download the RUU ROM from HTC and try it?
The HTC sync app says it cannot find device

search a little dude, that problem has been solved a hundred times in the sprint forum
It worked. Changed some settings.
Now another problem.... Installed TWRP and restarted. Now back to square one. Same as before.
But it does boot to TWRP but not to OS.
Update gives an unknown error 115.
So removed TWRP. Now it is stuck in HTC logo with white background not black original boot logo. It won't turn off. So had to let the battery go down to shutdown. Now charging. Will try the original ROM again and post back.
sorry
Bummer
