(Official "Samsung" firmware)
- In terms of Battery life, the official Gingerbread (2.3.6) firmware is the best in my opinion...
- In terms of more features, performance enhancements and improvement, the official Jellybean (4.1.2) firmware is better
(ROMs based on Official "Samsung" firmware)
- JetMOD is the one and the only "best" ROM that is based on Gingerbread firmware for Gingerbread users..
- Sami OS, HarshJelly, LightJB, JellyMOD, etc. are the best custom ROMs for Jellybean users...
(Unofficial ROMs and Builds)
We've got CM (10, 10.1 and 10.2), PAC, MIUI (v4 and v5), Paranoid, Carbon, etc.. BUT they are all in Alpha stage (as far as I know, but they are still usable.. so expect a few bumps and hiccups.. for more info check their respective threads)
For more info, checkout this and this :good:
PS: Asking questions like "what's the best ROM, X or Y?" isn't allowed.. because they are all products of their developer's hardwork.. plus the answer varies from person to person

Alright,
So i've been on my Nexus 4 for the past year and my brother took my SGS,
I'm currently on Jelly Bean and want to know if the upgrade to KitKat has the performance improvements that was claimed with the release.
You know, easier to run on lower mem devices and such.
Also, what must I look out for?
Do I need a special kernel to upgrade before, or update my recovery to some different version, or is there a higher risk of bricking/losing my efs than the usual download/flash? Can I easily downgrade to JB/ICS?
Thanks
Hello!
For me CM11 is faster than 10.1.3 and 10.2, additionally it's more united. Smaller amount of lags, and despite the fact it's nightly, ROM is pretty stable Of course wipe is mandatory, so back up everything.
Buckle up and enjoy CM11 Best regards.
EDIT: Flash any KK kernel if status 7 error.
Hi Roastmeat,
I've been using either cm 10.2 and cm11 on my Galaxy s i9000 and believe me you really will be surprised when updating the phone to Android 4.4 Kitkat (CM11). It really is a big improvement in terms of speed. It will breath new life in your Galaxy S
On highend devices you won't notice such a big increase in speed, but since kitkat was developed to support even more low end devices, the positve effects are noticed even more on "older" devices e.g. the Galaxy S.
Greetings!
My advice: stay away from Android 4.3 ( for example CM10.2) as it is the slowest Android version for our phones. Pick a ROM based on Android 4.2 ( for example CM10.1) or Android 4.4 (for example CM11) . I would suggest Android 4.4 , because our device really feels the benefit from it's optimisations.

Hello everyone
I'm looking for the best ROM 4.4.4 for my GT-S6500D
Currently I am with AOKP ROM 4.4.4 Nightly "20140914":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=5070#downloads
I'm happy with it but I'm not sure if it is the best rom now, I have attempted to test omni-4.4.4-20141102-jenad-no_internal-NIGHTLY.zip, but after the Samsung logo screen is black ...
When I mean "the best rom" is in flow and appearance.
PD: By chance there any website where updated ROMs out for Mini 2?
For example, Nameless page for Nexus, but it is for Mini 2.
I hope your answer
A greeting.
Well, for me personally, is the latest version 4.4.4 cyanogenmod KitKat.

I've tried several 4.3 and 5 custom ROMs.
On my xperia T I was getting constant SODs on all custom ROMs based on CM12/12.1 so I reverted back to 4.3.
From my feeling CM12.1 was faster, but battery life was shorter. 4.3 is more stable for me, battery seems to hold longer.
Thank you very much!
Shame there is not fast&long live battery rom :d
I want to know which is the stable and best rom rom for my S3 mini GT-18190N ......other than stock roms...
I have tried cm12.1 and 12.0 and omni 12. ....but battery drains fast...and when the battery charge is on 20%...the phone is't working ...and keeps on hanging and rebooting.....
When using cm11 and omni11.....hardware keys are not working ...and too much battery drain than lollipop....
so can you please suggest me the best rom ...for my s3 mini ...other than stock roms
