I've been using a matte screen protector on my Galaxy Tab since I got it. Loved that it barely needed wiping..but hated the "rainbow" color effect it had on the screen, particularly on whites. Replaced it yesterday with a clear/gloss protector and i like it better, even though it attracts fingerprints like anything. I was just wondering, since the SGT has a gorilla glass screen, do we really need to use a screen protector for it?
Does anybody use their tab naked?
(i'm talking about the Tab here being naked, not you)
I just feel like I might be missing out on a better Galaxy Tab experience because I keep my tab in a thick case with a screen protector.
I tired it once. It feels smother actually, and considering the gorilla glass, a protector isn't really needed. However, there's probably the psychological impact of it. You know, glass is still glass.
I use the tab naked and naked ;-)
no screen protector but a case that protects realy nice.

I am using the anti-glare screen guard.. it guards perfectly for my oily fingers hehe..
Sorry man, I don't think you will get a perfect answer. Some people's screens will have never scratched however some do get scratched although they are careful. Gorilla glass is not scratch proof, just more resistant to scratches than a normal non enhanced glass or plastic screen. There may be minerals in all sorts of places (cleaning cloth, pocket, car seat) which are harder than glass which could scratch your tabs screen.
The fact that you have been putting screen protectors in the first place and also have created this thread gives me the impression that you want a perfect screen. But there is always a trade off... no protection gives smoother and a greater touchscreen experience but a protector will prevent any possible scratches to your screen.
My advice would be for you to leave your screen protector on. Glossy is fine as fingerprints are not really visible when backlight is on.
I have used them for a while. I installed a XO Skin on my gtab and my 10.1 io. The best thing, (besides stopping scratches) is they hide finger prints and smudges. Heres a link

I used the code byublue for $3 off, paid for shipping..

Same here and I have absolutely no scratches on the screen. I do however keep my tab in a case whenever it isn't in use.
i guess there is no definite answer to this, as with a lot of things, it comes down to preference...
honestly now that i think about it, having a screen protector gives me the peace of mind that i did everything I could to protect the screen. I let other people use it, i stuff it in my bag with more confidence. If i take the screen protector off I might end up being an over-protective galaxy tab parent, always polishing the screen, always checking for scratches.
I think i'll be sticking with the glossy protector for a while.
ps. can anyone suggest the clearest possible screen protector i could get?
I used my Tab for 4 months naked without issue, then got a little paranoid before going on holiday.
The day after the Techskin arrived (and before I put it on) I drop the Tab on my driveway resulting in 2 tiny marks The marks aren't huge, but I can't help but notice them everytime I see the screen
*sigh*
I have used a screen protector on all my past tablets ( my GT is my 5th tablet ).
Using the protector allowed me to sell my previous tablets (when upgrading to the next one) with a 100% looking screen.
I use the GT without a screen protector (and with a case permanently on), as I intend to keep it for a while - and at the time I will maybe want to sell it, it will not be worth too much whether there are slight traces of use on the screen or not. It does look better and has better touch sensitivity with no screen protector on - no doubt about that.
But if I ever get a scratch on the glass - I can still put a screen protector on, which makes that scratch disappear.
My second current table (iPad) has a screen protector on, as my small kids often play on it . Also, the ipad has no case on it (only a back cover) - so the front is more exposed.
I use skinomi on my tab, incrediable, and ipod touch. They are almost like a vinyl. Very clear and I had very small bubbles when I installed it but the next day all of the imperfections disappeared. Like if you get a piece of dust under there during installation you don't get the air bubble with it. And they are cut to fit.
I was given a screen protector when I bought mine in the shop. They even applied it for me I think it the brand was screenguard.
I have a case for the tab, so i don't know how scratch resistant it is. As for the screen, it still looks great, but at extreme angles, there are coloured grains when viewing whites.
Its overall very good and is sized perfectly, I sometimes forget there's a screen protector!
I used my tab without screen protector. Screen protector is useless for a gorilla glass. I already tried scratching my tab using a key and scissor. No scratch at all. Try it guys.

I got the Invisible Shield protector from Zagg. They had a 50% off deal going for Memorial Day, so it came to like $13. From what I read, I might not need it. But I still bought it, just in case. Now all I'm waiting for is my Tab to arrive from Woot!
I use one of those cheapy anti-glare matte screen protectors. It makes reading things on the tab a bit easier on the eyes and prevents a lot of fingerprint smudging, however it also covers up the nice screen. So it just boils down to preference since the tab's screen is made of gorilla glass.
Screen Protector definitely. I love the gloss screen but fingerprints annoy me and glare can be bothersome. I got 3 for $4 bucks and only used one so I figure if a huge gouge gets in the screen protector the screen will be good and I have 2 extras.
I acquired my gsm galaxy tab last week, and I am extremely pleased with it. However I have been using it without a screen protector or a case. Unfortunately, I have managed to get abminornscrstch on the screen of my Tab. I was travelling with it in my pocket, but I never kept it with anything else, nevertheless I somehow managed to scratch it. So now I am on the lookout for a decent screen protector as I suspect my device's gorilla glass screen is probably not the strongest, all devices are not equal, there will always be some minor variation in quality in the hardware between devices, eg, CPU - some can be heavily undervolted AND overclocked and others freeze even if you attempt a minor overclock.

It is not necessary to use a protector screen with gorilla glass!! Protect your Tab with a neoprene case!

I myself use that plastic film that came on my GTab when I bought it. You know, those cheap screen protectors that are added on at the factory before they get to the consumer. I just carefully peel the screen protector off, so as not to bend it, and then cut the little tab part off of it and rounded it out to fit the dimensions of the screen. Then I will spray water onto the tacky part that touches the screen and place it back on and the squeegee out the water to the edges. Works perfect every time, and it is removable and reusable. I do this will all of my phones too.
Matt screen protector all the way.

Hey all,
Looking to order the Moto X very soon, but I hate not having a screen protector on my phones - dust, sand, something in my pocket scratching the screen.
Don't see too many choices, especially from Amazon that would get here this week. I really would prefer a dry application
i-blason? Never heard of them, can't find much about them.
Skinomi is a wet install...
COD - Crazy on Digital? Never heard of them either
Any suggestions? I'd like to order from a place that would have it arrive this week with my phone. Verizon sells a generic one but usually theirs peel off soon after, rainbow/orange effect, or are cloudy.
Are screen protectors still necessary? Having had an original Droid, a Galaxy Nexus and now the Moto X, I haven't used a screen protector on any of them and haven't had any issues. Sure, the screens print easy but it's just as easy to wipe them clean. I'm also always skeptical of screen protectors messing with the touch screen sensitivity but I'm sure that's not an issue at this point.
Personal preference, I prefer to have them. Droid X, iPhone 4, Galaxy S3. I've seen too many posts on XDA and other forums (for different phones) where people wonder how/why their screen scratched in an empty pocket. Sand (harder than glass), dust, etc. Just piece of mind for me is all.
Halo. Look it up on Amazon
I got an invisibleshield today. The edges of the screen aren't quite covered.

I've tried a number of screen protectors, including the much-acclaimed Spigen SGP / Steinheil protectors. I keep coming back to Boxwave. Made in Japan, and very nice. It feels good to the touch--not grippy like others I've used. I've used their anti-glare and anti-fingerprint protectors for two of my digital cameras, and I use their glossy crystal one for my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It's a dry application, but to be certain that dust won't get underneath it, go into your bathroom, shut the door, turn on the shower to HOT, and let the room get a little bit (not excessively) steamy. Dust particles will bind to the steam and not float around in the air. You can then apply your screen protector without too much fuss.
Right now it looks like Boxwave doesn't have any screen protectors for the Moto X. I assume they'll probably get some in the near future. I e-mailed them, once, about getting the best size for my 3DS and they were very helpful in helping me to find one with the dimensions I needed (since they didn't have a 3DS protector, they recommended me one that was the closest size).
By the way, I don't know how the Moto X's Gorilla Glass compares to my Galaxy Nexus, but my Gnex did start to get micro-abrasions, which is why I got a screen protector. I guess tiny particles in my jeans pocket were wearing on it. There were no scratches visible by just looking, but there were spots on the screen that were starting to wear, making the underlying screen slightly blurry. I'm very happy to have a screen protector. It almost doesn't affect the clarity of my screen, at all.
Invisiblesheild does not reach the bezel, iblason takes some readjusting, (have tape on standby) the Skinomi so far has the best coverage but it has orange peel and collects dust like a lint roller. I'll keep it on until Halo, Boxwave, or Reallook get some out. I hate wet apply except Just Like Glass.

I bought the ditztronic case a while back and have loved using it, but the only problem I have is that my skinomi screen protector peels up because of how close it is to the edge. Does anybody have a recommendation as to which screen protector to use with this case? I can't not have one haha
Zagg's case friendly screen protector. Not cheap but well worth it.
Supershieldz is cheap, and lasting. Haven't gotten a single scratch on it.
I used a Zagg on my old G2, it felt better but got scratched somehow; a nice clean line across the screen, felt like a waste of $25. Supershieldz is cheaper ($2-4 depending on site) and you get a 6 pack so you have more than enough replacements. But it is more tedious to put on than the Zagg, even though the latter uses liquid install.
I just put an Xtremeguards protector on mine and am relatively happy. It's got that slight rubbery feel to it because it's the wet apply type, but it goes edge to edge (and actually sticks down) and looks perfectly smooth.
If you don't mind wet apply protectors, it's worth a try, especially because you can get two of them for a whopping $1.40 with free shipping after coupon XTREME90:
http://www.xtremeguard.com/LG-G2-AT-T-Version-ONLY-Screen-Protectors-p/lg0g20attxgrds.htm
Definitely do not get the dry apply one though...it's the plastic type and also goes edge to edge, but doesn't stick down. Mine peeled off within hours after catching on my pocket.
I hate sticky ones.
I have iloome FLEX, which is hard plastic that mimics conditions of tempered glass. It's not edge to edge, because it only folds one way, can't have edges "lift" the screen.
It is still holding on after a few months.
I'm 90% sure I want to get the S7 Edge to replace my ageing Nexus 5, but one of the main concerns I have is dropping the phone and damaging the screen edge.
My current phone case (Diztronic) has a raised lip all around the (flat) screen, so the multiple times I've dropped it face down or on the side have resulted in zero damage. Despite the lip, it's still a very thin case, not like the bulky Otterbox-type.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Diztronic-M...=1459939981&sr=8-1&keywords=diztronic+nexus+5
Is there a case for the S7 Edge that offers this sort of protection, while still allowing access to the edge? I know I will drop this phone as it's even bigger than my current one, which I have dropped/knocked off a table probably fifty times over the last two years.
Also, is there a way to use a tempered glass screen on this phone while also using a case that protects the body? I've read that the glass screen protectors tend to not adhere in the middle of the screen, especially when using a case that puts compressive pressure on the sides of the protector.
I would appreciate hearing people's experiences in solving these problems, as this is now the main concern stopping me from buying the phone!
Not gonna happen

Anybody knows of a good tempered screen protector for the S6 Edge that is not fully 100% Edge to Edge? One that covers the whole visible LCD but not all the way to the metal frame. My dilemma right now is that when I have an edge to edge tempered protector, with my case on, the edges of the protector lifts. And that's because the case keeps hitting the edge of the tempered protector. If screen protector was slightly short, then it wouldn't be a problem. I'm using regular non glass zagg right now but hate the fake looks it gives to the screen. Much prefer tempered glass. Thanks.
You could carefully sand down the edge of your glass protector. I had to do that in order to fit my aluminum bumper case.

Thanks, but not going that route. So funny, when I owned flat screen phones in past, it was very typical getting a screen protector that never was full Edge to Edge. Now that I'm actually looking for one that's not 100% Edge to Edge, it's hard to find one. Oh well, keeping this zagg HD for now. Thanks.
