Why do most, if not all, 4.4.2 custom roms for the MotoX don't have HD 720p video recording on the back camera? The highest resolution is CIF. What is CIF? The front camera can do HD recording but the back can't. Is there any camera mod, or camera I should extract??
I think CIF is a pixel resolution of 352 pixels by 288 pixels.
It used by both PAL and NTSC. it describe the refresh rate (30 fps) adn resolution. QCIF (1/4 CIF) represent 144 by 176 (you can always see this number in some mobile phone screen).

Hellow everyone,
just a little question... Noticed that the camera don't take pictures in HD (480x800 for example) ... instead u have a 640x480 screen resolution wih big black borders at each side. Tried also another camera software like Camera Zoom FX which enable HD picture ... but just stretch 640x480 in 800x480 pictures.
So any chance of real HD pictures with LG optimus 2x?
Thx in advance for your kindley advise...

ok I understand...
The video screen/picture - or call it however u want - is using widescreen (720 x 480 ), the camera picture mode 640 x 480 VGA. I was wondering if anyone knows how to make widescreen picture with the camera pciture mode..
There was one stock camera mod before that can take picture at 6mp (16:9), but the picture ain't good on that particular setting. There's no more development on that camera mod and most people don't want 16:9 picture.

I am trying to increase video recording resolution of our phone from 640x480 to 720x480.As our phone can decode videos upto WVGA resolution so it should be possible to encode videos of this resolution (I can be wrong).I have achieved to the point of having 720x480 in recording settings. But getting camera call back error on starting recording. So if anyone can tell if recording is hardware limited(processor/camera sensor) or not,it will be very appreciable.
thanks
Proof:-
P.S-I am using DDKQ8 SGS2 camera mod by CCGH thats why interface looks different
No one huh :/ I will ask a few devs i know to look at this thread then
Hey!
The Motorola Defy has 480p as default but they have ported the Defy+ rom to it and it enables 720p!
But it is Armv7!
In short, our camera is capable to shoot 720p as it can take 720x480 photos but it has to take 30 such photos in one second and the hardware doesn't allow it. It has low capability hardware so shooting at 30 FPS and 720x480 can take a lot of load on the hardware and so it might not work at all. Also, you will need additional codecs to record 720p.
So it will be tough to make it work and the video might be laggy..

720p=/=720x480.
Defy is diff. case.Thats armv7 so its reference doesnt help.
What I am asking is 720x480 encoding possible by our processor or not.
2nd problem is aspect ratio-our default ratio is 4:3 and 720x480 is 3:2.So i guess this resolution MAY be related to wide angle lense or something. Its just an assumption. We cant have 720*480 full screen.Black bars will be there. So most probably needs XML resizing in camera app
Since the release of Lollipop Google introduced us new API for camera and that feature is really epic. Developer Chih Mao Chen made camera app for lollipop in which our phone nexus 5 is able to record in almost 4k resolution.
Download Android L camera app here:
https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/blob/master/lcamera-debug.apk?raw=true
Note: all credits goes to developer who made this app, I'm only sharing this with you guys and sorry if this is already posted.
[QUOTE=Isus um there isn't anything there
Works fine for me.
Is the quality difference significant?

Low FPS for sure . and no it doesn't look that good .. Too much noise
For me its very crisp, sharp. I really love it, and it really surprises me that N5 camera can shoot 4K videos
This is a Duplicate thread!!
Below is the original. All discussions are ongoing there. It would be more helpful if all interested members can discuss there[emoji4]

It doesn't for me. It's probably the camera that worked fine on 4K but the snapdragon 800 SoC that couldnt handle 4k Probably.

Use manual exposure and it records 30 FPS for sure.
Also, Snapdragon 800 does support 4K, it's the camera that doesn't (3264x2448 is 8 MP, 4K is 3840 x 2160; not enough horizontal pixels).

But still it's pretty amazing resolution. Our **** camera just got better.
Hi,everyone!
Currently I am using the NostromoPop rom on my One Mini 2,along with DSLR camera for taking photos and Cinema FV-5 for video recording. Now,I know the phone is limited by its internal capabilities when it comes to the resolution and framerate it can shoot a video at,but I know for a fact that sometimes you can get more from a camera that the developer intended (I have used a Huawei G510 before, horrible phone but with a lot more roms to choose from, and one of them allowed 720p recording, which wasn't possible on any other rom, including the stock one).
What I'm asking : Is there a camera app(perhaps combined with a kernel or tweak of files) to allow 1080p 60fps video recording on the HTC One Mini 2?

Not sure what you asking since HTC One Mini 2 already records at 1080.
Camera
Main Camera: 13MP, BSI sensor, f/2.2, 1080p video recording
Front Camera: 5MP, BSI sensor, 1080p video recording

Ummm...not trying to be mean or anything, but you should learn to read better before voicing an opinion, not just between the lines. What I asked was if it was possible to shoot at 1080p 60fps on the One Mini 2.
Have a nice day!

you right...
it records 1080p at 30fps
and 720p at 60fps
Is there any tricks or apps to record 60-120fps videos on A71?
A70 can record 60fps but A71 doesn't allow it. A71 cpu is much better than the A70 why are they doing this? I'm sure this is a software thing.
I think the hardware can do 4k 60fps and 1080p 120fps.
I've installed multiple camera apps, the only thing I could do is recording 1080p 120fps with Filmic Pro app on selfie camera
1080p 60fps main camera X
1080p 60fps selfie camera X
1080p 120fps main camera X
1080p 120fps selfie camera ✓

I've only tried enabling [email protected] by software, works fine but no video stabilization (tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a71/how-to/samsung-galaxy-a71-mods-t4173295)
I'd have to check 120 fps, maybe it's possible idk, I'll check later

Please let us know.
Well, on my NcX update 2.5.2 I will include 60 fps recording on both main and selfie cameras at 1080p
Couldn't make 120 fps work on either and in any resolution, probably needs way more modding and time investment, things I do not know how to do or don't have the time lol
It was a nice dream though xD
