Hei guys !
I have a htc one with unlocked bootloader and s-off.
Yesterday my phone started to experience some trouble with the wi-fi connections. When i turn on the wi-fi it remains stuck on "turning on" and i can't turn it off anymore. I tried to more options by clicking on the 3 dots in the right corner but no succes..all options but "Advanced" are greyed out.
I already tried to flash a custom rom (Viper rom) and reflashed stock ruu and the problem persisted.
Any of you experienced similar problems?
I had that problem on another type of phone. It was hardware. You've already factory reset and changed the OS. The only other thing I can think of is to pull the battery (and you probably don't want to do this yourself). Good luck. I would send the phone in for warranty repair, if you can.
Unfortunately i can't rma the handset for repair because it was bought second hand.
I thought maybe it was another way to resolve this issue.. I found it odd because while i was using the device over the wifi connection it just disconnected and would not connect back on. No other glitch , fireworks or nothing..
Same problem here,
it suddenly stopt working.
it trying to connect and stays there.
reboot is fixing it for a few minutes and problem is there
again.
i have the problem on multiple networks.
new firmware flashing didnt help,
new OS didnt help,
new Recovery didnt help...
I have the same exact problem.
It did turn on randomly one night after restoring a back up. Stayed on all night, gone in the morning.

Im on ViperOne and the problem is still there.
I Wil go back to stock soon and try if that helps. Don't think it will cause I think it's hardware related. But have to go stock when I want it to sent in for warranty.

I bought a brand new second One M7 and flashed a backup from the "old" one. WiFi is working.
Running ARHD with experimental 14.11 I did a factory reset within TWRP 2.6.3.3 recovery on the "old" One and until now WiFi is already working for a day.
I thought it was hardware related but why is the "old" One working again....
And why is the new One has working WiFi with the exact same copy of OS....
Strange
Edit,
The "old" One WiFi stopt working.
Suddenly it was gone.
Going back to stock with that one and sent it in for repair.

After a lot of sending and receiving, the phone stayed at HTC and they sent me an m8 for the inconvenience...
Ok. So I can't tell u guys what the problem was.
Hola, I seem to have a similar issue to the OP. After flashing a 5.1 GPE ROM, wifi never worked again.
I tried different ROMs, different TWRP, different firmwares, and even reformated partitions using mkfs.ext4. Wifi still stuck at "Turning on..."
Do you guys have any ideas? Thank youuuu!
Try going to the root folders and delete the wifi folder from data/misc then restart the phone. Might work.
After running the command below on Maximus HD 46, I was able to turn on WiFi, but the connection would be unstable, with the adapter often turning off and on.
Code:
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0

I tried removing wpa_supplicant.conf. Tried removing the entire folder, connection still resetting randomly.
How I fixed this issue.

Hello. I have created an account here just to share how I fixed this problem because I couldn't find that solution posted on any forum. It might be helpful for someone, but also I might have been the one that caused the issue in the first place. I have a rooted HTC One M7 running 5.0.2.
So, the "Turning on..." for me occured once my phone's battery completely drained. I have plugged the phone in the charger and it displayed 0%. Once the charge level reached 1% I turned on the phone and almost immediatelly turned mobile data off and wifi on. It was then when it got stuck. I have tried almost all the accepted solutions and none of them worked. As I didn't have time to keep trying to solve the issue I left the phone as it was, not trying to connect anymore but saying "Error" under Wifi in Settings.
I thought about what might have caused this and remembered that I have recently tried to use my phone as a wifi extender using the app called "fqrouter2". Within the app there is an option in configuration "Disable Wifi P2P" that should be, as recommended by the app, disabled if the app failed to work. I have, of course, tried it but it didn't work anyway. I have uninstalled the app and that was it. Wifi worked fine until my phone died. So I decided to reinstall the app and try the "Restore Wifi P2P" option. After restoring it I uninstalled the app and power cycled my phone. When it turned on wifi started working again as if nothing ever happened.
As I said, I might have been the cause of the problem in the first place and I doubt somebody had the exact same situation as mine, but I'll leave this here, just in case. Cheers

Hi there. First timer on the forums
I have searched all around the place and on google, and so far I haven't found nobody (with a X8, a guy with the same exact problem on a HTC Thunderbolt? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147670, can't understand his solution, doesn't apply to X8 AFAIK) with the same problem I have. The thing is, the phone reboots when the screen goes off unless it is charging or playing music in the background. Even if I lock it with the power button. Screen goes off, ten seconds from there, Sony Ericsson logo.
So far I've tried 3 roms since I got the phone, GingerDX (didn't recognize my SD, discarded it instantly), Gingerbread (reboot issue, didn't like it either D and now I'm using Gingercruzt (reboot issue, I'd like to keep it). All the roms were on their latest version as of today.
Does anybody know any solution to this?
Thanks in advance!!!
UPDATE: I'm sorry I didn't dare to try everything before. I wiped everything and started to install all apps one by one and it's working so far, haven't installed them all, gotta check if maybe one of them is causing issues.
It worked. For a while. Installing too many apps (if 11 can be considered too many) causes the reboot issue, after getting tired went back to Froyobread, it was working, but when I tried to connect to a Adhoc wifi connection, it started to reboot again on screen lock. I'm just tired of this, I'm gonna try kuyadroid and maybe some other rom... but does anybody have any idea why this is happening?
Kuyadroid reboots when i connect through wifi but only sometimes, when it reboots and i connect again it dont reboot on screen timeout.

My wifi stopped working since 2 weeks ago after a abnormal crash. Every time when I try to turn on wifi, it keeps saying turning on, but never did. Which causes the Stamina mode not working anymore.(and I think the phone keeps attempting to turn on wifi also increases battery usage) The Bluetooth also stopped working since then. I did factory reset number of times and Repair with PC companion, still not a chance.
Finally, I found a temp. solution, which I completely drain the battery and charge it from 0% to 100% with phone off. It seems this could reset the wifi problem. But once I connect back to my home wifi, it would cause an abnormal freeze(notification led become RED) and then reboot automatically, and then wifi stop working again. I searched a few posts and some people with xperia S had a similar wifi problem, but no solution.
I got a feeling that something crashes the wifi driver, and this cannot be reset either factory reset or SUS repair. Is there anyone here got a similar problem like me? Or anyone could explain what actually happening to my phone?
Thx

ok so i got my htc one a couple of days ago and it sees to have a serious problem!
Basically the phone goes through stages of random vibrating every few mins to full on constant vibrating like there is a fan or motor buzzing in there. It even does it if the phone is switched off! Ive just had an episode of it vibrating no stop for 10 mins, didnt make a difference when i switched it off or when i factory reset it!
It seems to overheat or something and only stopped doing it after i had just left it for a while. I have tried to speak with htc about it but they were useless and had no suggestions what soever.
I really need some help here, i bought the phone privately and to all intense purposes it seemed like brand new

No cant exchange it, only option i might have if i cant get the problem ressolved on here would be to send it to htc for repair but can take up to 2 weeks.
when i got the phone it was still on 4.1 and told me update available to 4.2 so i did that. Thats all i have done , apart from unlocking it from 02 using a code.
its almost like on a computer when its being worked hard etc that you here the fan cut in, thats what it seems like except it sounds like the buzz you get when you first start the phone. sometimes it does this just once every few mins or so, other times it will start doing it and not stop...even when switched off.....everything else on the phone seems to work fine

Did the device get wet at some point? Sounds like a hardware problem if a factory reset didn't solve the problem.
There's a slight chance it could be a real bad app or an issue with the rom. Maybe running a stock RUU for your device if you can find it might help.
Pretty sure it hasent got wet .
Would be happy to put stock Rom back on it but not sure how I go about reflashing it .
Don't know if this normal or not but when I did a factory reset I thought the device would be wiped completely, all my pictures and videos etc however when I set it back up again I found some videos on there still that I had downloaded to the phone off the net.
Maybe it's not wiping itself correctly either?

Resetting the device should wipe everything and bring it to the same condition as new.
Go to settings>>Backup & Reset>>Reset phone>>now check "Erase all data", then tap "OK".
If that doesn't work, try to do a factory reset from the bootloader.

Factory reset will wipe the device but leave the contents of the sdcard untouched which explains why your vids are still there
Appreciate the help guys, thankyou
So, is there any benifit to wiping the device completely over and above what I've done allready?
Today the phone has just done the odd sudden vibration as if you were just booting up, around 5 times in total, nowhere near as bad as last night, don't know why that would be.
Would it be possible to reflash standard firmware?
Is so how would I do it. Phone is completley standard and was in 4.1 prior to the ota update to 4.2, could 4.2 be the problem?

I'd try it. You can back up your pics and music on your PC via HTC Sync first.
Ok so I have tried it but no joy
Still getting the random buzzing/vibration for no apparent reason.
Could it be a bug with the update to 4.2.2?
Can I go back to 4.1?

Don't think it's a bug with 4.2.2 but a hardware issue.
Couple of other things to try ; download "CID Getter" from the play store, run it and find out your device's CID number. Now search on Google or xda for the RUU for your device's CID number. Download the RUU.exe to your pc, connect your phone to the pc and run the RUU.exe. This will bring the phone back to stock 4.1..
Or you can unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Step by step instructions can be found on xda
Sorry, don't know of any easy solutions.

ok so just to update this....
last night i have tried the standard google edition rom on my phone and for the first few hours all seemed fine untill 4am this morning when i was woked by the phone doing its random vibrating thing...it was just sat by the side of my bed on charge

My HTC one has been doing the same thing. Vibrating randomly even when powered down. Brought it back to Sprint and had them order me a new phone. The only way to stop it from vibrating when powered down was to bang it on a hard surface, then it would stop. Crazy!
Vibrating non stop
My HTC One had been vibrating cotinuously too. I kept slapping the upper part of the phone to stop it from vibrating. However, this worked for the initial few days only. Later, it continued to vibrate continuously without stopping at all ! In the night I left the phone in the other room while it was still vibrating and the next morning the phone wouldn't charge at all! Now the phone is not booting/ charging. It is dead! Any leads?
EDIT: I slapped the upper part again, it suddenly woke up from the dead! It is charging now, the LED is red too!! But it is still continuously vibrating. I have left it to charge as of now, but please help with this vibrating problem. Any ideas?
I've had the same issue with my M7 today.
There were no software updates or any new apps lately.
It all emerged when i was pressing the home button (to exit from some app) and at the same time an incomming call started.
I have tried:
switching it off - did not help
Changing volume setting silent\vibe\sound a couple of times - no effect
Soft reset - no help
Hard reset - no help
Slapping with upper side of the phone against my had - helped for some time, the it started again
Seems like hardware issue.
Currently working solution for me:
Switch off the option "Vibrate on keypress" in Settings ==> Sound & notification
UPD: had to turn off all the vibrations
So far so good. Apparently there is some issue with vibe motor, and it just does not stop. I assume that by disabling that option it is not getting started and thus no constant vibe follows.
UPD 2 Fixed:
Issue reoccurred on hitting the device against my palm.
Had to disassemble it, there are a couple of instructions on youtube, i used plastic cards.
Motor was spinning even with a switched off device. Had to unplug and plug the motor a couple of times and it helped.
Turned on all vibrations in settings, no issues so far.
Hope that helps.
Hi all,
Since i've updated to Kitkat 4.4.2, everytime i make a phone call, the speakerphone automatically turns on? I've restarted the phone, checked my settings etc but can't see anything that would auto switch it on?
Please help, rather annoying
Thanks,
Same here. Please help before this phone has an untimely death.
Also here.
Anyone tried resetting phone? I remember I had some issues past time I updated and was told to reset it and then the issues were sorted.
When you say reset do you mean restart? I have restarted my phone and completely powered it off and back on with no luck.

I mean factory reset, the person on the phone last time told me that something might not have installed properly when I updated.
I will give it a try today.

Fix for Random ON Speakerphone
I think I've found a solution to this problem.
After getting repeatedly (and what seemed to be randomly) assaulted by my speakerphone I noticed something when quickly glancing at the screen when the issue occurred. It seemed to be happening when my phone discovered wi-fi, via Network Notification. I went into Settings, Wi-Fi Advanced Settings, and unchecked "Network notification" and "scanning always available". I have not had the speakerphone problem since.
I received the latest update to 4.4.4 this past Wednesday. This is the update that included the HTC Eye Experience. The update went smooth and everything was all good until I was driving home from work. The phone randomly rebooted itself and ever since, I cannot get Wi-Fi to turn off. It stays off for approximately one minute and then turns right back on. I have searched this forum and others all day with no solution seeming to help. I also hard reset the phone earlier today but the problem persists. Anyone had this issue or have any solutions? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for responding! Its not Connections Optimizer. It has been turned off from day 1 but I did recheck and it is still off. My M8 is not rooted and completely stock. It worked great up until this update. I tried soft reset and hard reset to no avail. There is a message that pops up in the notification bar sometimes (Wi-Fi notification with a red triangle) that says setup has not been complete but nothing happens when I click on it and it goes away. Sprint is, of coarse, no help at all. They want to send me a new phone but I really don't think this is a hardware issue. Maybe a bad download?
