Hello i have felt the sony xperia SP before and the Z.
The SP's wieght is quit low and when i carry it it feels very light and not heavy like the Z. However, i want to confirm the user experiances other people have had.
So i want to know if the SP wins or Z wins in terms of performance. When i touch the scren of the SP, it feels very smooth but im not sure if that is still good with the Z or not. Is the Z's screen ok and same as the SP or not?
The cpu speed of SP is more then Z so doesnt that make SP more powerfull then the Z. i KNOW THAT z has quad cpu but it has 1.5GH istead of 1.7ghz.
Thanks.
SP is sleek and so is the Z but i really want to confirm there usage. I want the loud ear speaker volume and videos and music should be played with out any bad quality

1) Z Wins here. The Touch Screen Is Very Smooth On Z. and For ur Information SP 's Display the worst ever . Just use a Z and see the difference. Z Display is awsom
2) SP has 1.7 Dual Core CPU. Z Has 1.5 Quad Core CPU. The So the speed does not matter here. Sure Z also win here too. U will get 3 times faster performance with Z
3) SP Is sleek . Z also. its little bigger becuase of the Screen Size. But design , Screen display quality and performance wise Z is the winner. And SP has a poor camera too..
Z Will get Android 4.4.2 KITKAT update by next month.
Overall U can not compare SP with Z. Both r different. Final Conclusion .
XPERIA Z IS THE REAL TIME WINNER . GO FOR IT... :good:

T. More prospect of upgrades. The TX if you want an Xperia T with removal battery
Sent From Xperia Tablet S
before i wan buy my xperia V i were planning to have acro s, but unfortunately when both T and V release from production, acro S is no longer sell in market due to sony take back all the stock from acro s, happen in my country, not sure about urs
im upgrading from the S3 to a Z1 this holiday season, mainly because of the water proofing. Before my S3 i had a SE Xperia Arc S and i miss the quality of Sony. My wife on the other hand has an Xperia U and she wants a bigger phone, her favourite colour is purple and the only phones Sony has in purple are the Z and Z1.
the Xperia Z is at a reasonable price right now and has just about all the great features as the Z1, but is there anything that im missing that are different with the two phones? I really dont want her to be disappointed with the Z when she see's my Z1 is better, she's not a very tech person, will she notice any differences compared to my soon to be Z1?
The Z1 is about 20% faster then the Z.
There is no flap to cover the headphone jack on the Z1, so if you like to listen a lot of music with headphones I would suggest you go for the Z1.
The water proofiness is also a tad better on the Z1

I found it pretty annoying, that is why I bought the Z1 when it came out and did my Z away.
And I love the magnetic charger, I never have to open any flap anymore
I had the Z, had to get it repaired twice and finally returned it because the back glass kept coming unglued. I may have been unfortunate and gotten a bad device (and then bad repairs I guess) but it is a widespread issue with that device (see here) so keep that in mind if you decide to get that one.
The Xperia Z1 feels much more sturdy than the Z and it features longer battery life even though it's faster.
The purple on the Xperia Z looks nicer than the purple on the Xperia Z1 though
well , the Z1 has much faster CPU , better Camera , louder speaker , better display , and the most important thing that u'll really miss it even if u compare with the S3 is the 3000mAh battery !
the Z has got a bad battery , however , its thinner and lighter .

I wouldn't necessarily say the Xperia Z has a bad battery, but the Xperia Z1 has certainly got a better one. The Xperia Z is fast enough for 90% of people, and while I notice the difference, it's not like I perceive it as some ridiculous speed boost. Same with the display, the Xperia Z is pretty much on par with the Xperia Z1 I think, perhaps the colours are a little clearer in the Z1, but the Xperia Z is by no means a bad device.
Loudspeaker and camera are much better on the Z1.
Both are good choices, providing you don't get any trouble with the back glass on the Xperia Z that is.

everyone has got his own opinion , i've had the 2 devices and i really recognize these things , i think you are an Xperia Z owner or u still love it actually
u said 90% of people how or where did got that percentage bro ? are comparing SD S4 with SD 800!! are you serious ? for that i'll say just full up ur Z with apps , games and other media files , lose RAM , then watch it !

I was an Xperia Z owner yes, now I have the Xperia Z1, and I'm telling you that for the price difference currently between the two devices (presuming you get a good Z where the back glass doesn't fall off) it is a tough call if you're not a mobile phone enthusiast.
The Snapdragon S4 (APQ8064: Krait 200) is still a very good processor which is why they based the Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974: Krait 400) on the same platform. They actually are very similar, the 800 is just clocked faster, has better power management, better WLAN, better graphics, USB3 and better image processing. Honestly both provide fluid UIs and a very good user experience.

hmm the only thing that i can agree with you is the price , the SD S4 CPU is an end of generation , the architecture are different bro ! you comparison is not fair because the S4 Pro cant even rich the Snapdragon 600 ! it only beat the Snapdragon 200 .

The S4 Pro (Cortex-A9 with Adreno 320) is better than 200 and 400 (as those are Cortex-A7 based and feature at best Adreno 305 graphics), not 600 or 800.
But that isn't my point. My point is that S4 Pro is good enough. We don't need anything faster.
Also the Snapdragon 600 and 800 do not feature true Cortex-A15 processors if that is what you were referring to when you said they are different architectures. They borrow some power saving innovations (by increasing efficiency) from A15 sure, but they are mostly A9's, not true A15.

So, I'm looking for an upgrade to my ages old Xperia Ray.
With Xperia Z2 now out, and Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 compact priced less than $50 higher than the Xperia Z. Is it still a good grab?
I've been in this dilemma since quite a couple of days now.. I saw the Z in a store and found it the best size. I know Z1 might feel a little awkward coming from a 3.3 Xperia Ray(its bigger than Z), and I just don't like the bezels on Xperia Z1 Compact. My other options are HTC One and LG G2. But I don't trust LG as a brand.
So back to the point, is Xperia Z still a good buy over the Z1 and Z1 compact? and why?

Xperia z is agood phone but the only problem is it's around an year old now, sony said we will get 4.4 update but i don't think we will get any ore after that , Z1 and z1 compact being newer, will surely be updated for a long time, and as they have s800 soc so they are more future proof
Bdw,go in for LG g2 if you dont like the z1 or z1 compact as that is a great phone, and is also future proof as it has the same specs as nexus 5
pick htc on lg. if i were to pick, i'd take lg because I've never had an lg phone and specs are awesome.
sony? i think i'll never buy it again. throwing out 5 different flagship phones in 1 year, customer support sucked, warranty problems sucked, display was dissapointment,... ui experience however was great. other bugs may annoy you.

not really better than Z.
The best would be lg g2

Depends what you need from a phone. Contrary to what lots of people say, the screen as compared directly to the Z1 is barely different with properly adjusted white balance and saturation. The camera is excellent but the battery life could be better. I like that with a 5 inch screen it's still smaller then the Z1, the Z1 feels much more slippery because while the edges are made from aluminium, the bezel of the front and back panels is surrounded by a super slick plastic rather then the soft touch finish of the Z. I'd still go for something like a Z1 Compact, Z2 if you really want top end specs and a much bigger battery.
Lg have really gotten their **** together with the G2.
people have reported excellent performance with excellent battery life.
it also got 4.4.2 kitkat before the xperia z1...which still hasnt gotten it yet.
and despite it having a 5.2inch screen, it honestly doesnt feel that big.
I would not suggest you to go with the Z1 Compact if you do not like it's size and bezel.
Whether to go with Xperia Z or Z1 will depend on a few factors:-
1. Snapdragon 800 vs S4 Pro - Do you need or want better performance and battery life?
2. 3000 mAh vs 2300 mAh - Do you want better battery life?
3. 170g vs 146g - Are you alright with the Z1 being heavier?
Personally I prefer the bezel size of the Z as Z1 has thicker bezel but it all comes down to personal preference.
Based on the specifications alone, Z1 will be the winner if the price of both phones are very close.
Hey guys, i have quite allot of android phones and i have tried to stay away from Sony since they lock their boot loaders and it looked like it was hard to develop anything i haven't gotten one (the old ui was FUGLY as well). i own a T989 Galaxy s2 (in fact i own three of them!) as my Main for right now and its getting pretty old (cpu and gpu are old and Games are not as well handled as they used to) i have been thinking of getting a new phone and that phone i have come down to is either a Samsung Galaxy mega 6.3 or a Xperia Z or Xperia SP, i have never payed attention to the Xperia line and they have a pretty good thing going for now, i think i might have to move them to my list of jobs i might take up . everything about the Xperia Z looks pretty great, everything beats out my s2. thought im worried that i have heard that xperias TFT Screens have TERRIBLE veiwing angles, i dont honestly know if i care about that but do any of you get disappointed by this? and do you think it would be the same on the Xperia SP? if so please state what you dont like about the Xperia Z, your Help is appreciated .

i see that the Xperia Z1 compact only has a 4.3" screen. my s2 has a 4.5" and i would like something bigger or equal to that. i see that the Xperia Z2 Compact will have a bigger screen but when it comes out is unknown. im sure i wouldn't mind the poor viewing angles, but the real question is would i be fine with the SP or do i need a bigger screen (Xperia ZL) for $100 more?
Im viewing my phone head on and don't really want people watching my screen so the 'terrible' viewing angles don't mean much to me. When I show people videos on my phone no one has complained saying they cannot see. Im an ex Z user and current Z1 user. Id go for the Z out of your choices.

S2 have the same 4.3" like Z1 Compact
While Z2 Compact would probably be around 4.6"
Sony won't support SP much as it is not Z Series,so i still suggest you to go for bigger screen of Xperia Z / ZL
Z2 is the best choice

If you are looking at the Z2, i personally suggest looking at the newer HTC One M8 and S5.
Sony has JUST begun to catch up with competition, an example is they finally use IPS displays that don't give washed out colours.
Another thing that is an issue as of right now is, their software updates arrive late and with serious bugs, just take a look in the Z Ultra, Z1, Z1 Compact sections about their 4.4 update.
Also, the Z2 has quite large bezels.
Another thing to keep in mind is, when the next flagship Sony comes out soon, Sony will shift most their focus to that device, resulting in the Z2 having a shorter life as a top priority device compared to other companies devices.
(Sony has a 6 month flagship rotation, other companies usually have a one year flagship rotation)
Sony has begun to improve slowly, but to me, Sony is still a risky choice if you are looking for a flagship grade device and support.
All this is just my personal opinion

hi, i am totally confused about choosing xperia z1 or z ultra.my preferences is always goes with xperia z 1 due to the size.but i usually watch movies on smartphones.i am currently using sony xperia s.i am little bit disappointed about battery life.so i am planned to buy a new phone which cost around 25000 INR.in ebay both xperia z1 and z ultra priced at 24500.so i am totally confused which one should i choose.i like the design of z ultra but it size too big for me.5 inch is enough for watching movies.but the problem is that i found on gsmarena is that z ultra have 8.45hrs of continuous video playback but xperia z1 have only 6.12 hrs of video playback.how is that possible?this is what i think, the default brightness of xperia z1 is much higher than xperia z ultra that is why it behind z ultra,am i right?i saw that both have same cpu and gpu but z ultra have bigger display which needs more power.but it only have 50 mAh battery over xperia z1.which is doesn't matter i think. is anybody can give me a good reason why xperia z1 haven't 8 hrs of video playback time?which phone have better display?
This super LCD on z1 is not battery friendly. Especially when watching movie.
