[Q] How to change model id!!! - HTC Incredible S

Hi i recently bought a second hand incredible s, it has black rose and custom rom.In the back cover inside the phone in the place that writes the imei the serial number and the model number witch mine is PG3213, so i decided to download the ruu for this model id , i run it and i got error 130.I then start typing fastboot get var all and i saw that the model number was PG3212!!!!!Some how the previous user change the model id number. So i extract the rom from the ruu i change the model id number in the android-info.txt, i zip it in a PG32IMG.ZIP and it installed successfully.I then go to make the updates and the update fails.I have stock recovery but i think that the black rose stop the update. So i want to ask how i can change the model id back to the original to rum the ruu for fully stock again and update over the air.

You aren't supposed to be using an RUU when you have blackrose. Instead, you're supposed to be reverting blackrose...... Blackrose is a custom bootloader and an RUU will not run because of it (or if your bootloader is unlocked for that matter).

Yes i understand that i have unistalled black rose but the model id remains changed.I extracted the rom zip from the ruu and instaled successfully via PG32IMG but when i perform ota it goes to the red triangle of recovery and fails.I check the otas android info.txt and the model id is different than mine.so i think that this is the reason the update fails....I have stock recover with stock hboot alla stock after the PG32IMG......I want to change the model id i think.....

That's because you're not supposed to run RUU's with Blackrose bootloader. You need to revert it first....

I uninstall blackrose but it happens the same .I am sure that the probem is in the different mid.....If anyone knows if the blackrose supports the fastboot oem wite mid command???

Ok revert blackrose because there is no way you're running an RUU properly with a custom bootloader installed. Second, when you run the RUU from your PC, report the error number (i suspect it is 131 but post it anyways)

Error 130

Restarting into Recovery mode after restoring Stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM

I have a HTC Incredible S and rooted it recently with S-ON. I installed few custom ROMs before that i took backup of stock ROM (ICS 4.0.4 with Sense 3.6) in Recovery Mode. Now, i wanted to install stock ROM so i went to recovery mode, deleted cache, wiped data and deleted delvik cache. Then went to Backup and Restore and restored the backup i took. After that i power down the phone, flashed boot.img using cmd with the code "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and rebooted the phone. But the phone is going back to recovery mode. I tried this before and it worked perfectly fine, not sure why its not working this time. Please need help to restore my stock ROM, any solution to fix this?
Thanks!

There may be a problem restoring a stock ICS backup because the /lib partition is not getting mounted in recovery mode and is probably causing the /system partiton to run out of space when it is restored.
You could relock the bootloader and run the stock ICS RUU to return to stock. Next unlock the bootloader again and flash ClockworkMod and then fianlly reboot into recovery and do a selective restore of the /data partiton and that should get you back to the state where it was when you did the backup. All of your apps and settings should get restored from the /data partition.

Try wiping and restoring the system partition again.
Edit: better suggestion above

Relock command is in step 6 of the linked procedurel
If you want the ICS Stock RUU/ROM, you want the 4.10.405.1 WWE RUU. The one you posted is GB 2.3.5/Sense 3.0.

There are a couple of things I can tell from your getvar values:
1. You are trying to flash a RUU that has an older version-main value than you currently have on your phone.
2. You are trying to flash a RUU that doesn't match your original region, thus the reason you are getting the CID 131 error.
You will not be able to flash this RUU until you do the following:
1. Modify your version-main value to something like 3.00.000.0 or 4.00.000.0
2. Create a goldcard so that you can flash a RUU from another region.
To change your version-main value, you can use the Downgrade Script procedure. This will also allow you to make a goldcard also.
I am getting same 131:CID error

What is the size of your SD card and what kind is it? Based on your CIDNUM of HTC__038 you will need a goldcard to flash this RUU because it is looking for a CIDNUM of HTC__044.
So once everything is pointing to the fact that the goldcard is INVALID, thus the 131 CID error.

all: Done!
Symptoms:
No Service
Doesnt show my Basband num, IMEI, MEID, NetWork, IP in UI (but it shows up when i Run "Fastboot getvar all".
Progress com.htc.htcdialer isn't responding.
Boot loops every 5-7 min.
What I did:
Last weeks i bricked my sch-i500 so even though I have Verizon I went out to buy HTC one on sprint (hoping i cant make it work on Verizon).
So i unlocked BootLoader and Rooted the device. Yet for some reason SU wasn't working right - i didnt have root rights.
So i decided to Mod flash it. Made a backup in TWRP, wiped: dalvik, cache, data. and successfully flashed Android Revolution HD 53.0.
But I guess not. Because once i rebooted my screen tripped pink right before the boot animation and never loaded into UI.
I restarted it and gave it another 10 min of loading time - nothing.
I wiped after the previous ROM and flashed Venom ROM, ViperOne 6.2.0.
This one took long to boot up as well but once it did it would just show HTC logo screen upon screen unlock.
I gave it time and it actually brings up the "get started page" 5 min in - problem is it would reboot 1 min after.
After i flashed kernel.
Newest version of Gapps.
Tried LiquidSmooth Rom - that would boot me up but didn't solve my issue plus it didn't have google play and other apps.
I even tried going back to the recovery. It would SPRINT it back into stock yet have the acquired issues since i installed the mod: show HTC logo screen once it entered the UI and the rest of bs
I managed to get the get started page and run through it real quick before it rebooted.
But it had no service, and all those issues i stated above.
Now i came back to ViperOne and once the logo screen flashed to "get started" i ran through it real quick and now thats where im at. But it restarts. And has initial issues.
My Plan:
I researched and came to conclusion that i need to flash the radio.
But before i see i need to flash the Firmware.
In order to flash the firmware i need to Get S-OFF.
Ran RumRunnerr, FireWater, MoonShine they all crash at one point or another.
So Im stuck and idk what to do. Unable to go stock or fix the present. Any ideas?

all: Done!
Symptoms:
Any ideas?

okay qiute a lot of work you did there... i personally recommend mooshine s-off.. i also didnt get s-off in rumrunner and firewater kept crashing... try moonshine on a windows 7 pc, it'll work for sure... and after that run RUU of your preferred choice of base band and it should fix your problem...:fingers-crossed:

are you trying it in windows 7 pc or in windows 8.1... because in windows 8.1 there is no driver support and there is chances of bricking the phone...:fingers-crossed:

It doesnt matter .. i am able to do everything on win8.1 pc as i am in win7. All you have to do is find and install correct drivers if they dont install automatically.
Although attempting S-OFF methods were done on win7 PC.
But in any case I appreciate your input because i started getting a feeling that no-one replies to new posts now.
Apart from that you pushed me to go out and research more and i found a simple method that took me back to stock in about 20 min.
This post saved my crying soul.. thank you - O.M.J
And thank you - praveensk.rcb. You're a good friend :fingers-crossed:

My TWRP was not designed for Sprint HTC One.
Sprint requires its own TWRP to flash properly.
So now i ROMed into ViperOne 6.2.0 :highfive:
Need Help!
Hey guys i'm getting an active cmdline over flow on my Sprint Htc One that i sim unlocked to use on a GSM network. Sadly along with that i'm constantly dropping and reconnecting to the network.
It appears that my mmcblk0p19 seems to be corrupted.
So my question is can anyone who has a Sprint Htc One PN072 pull the misc partition from their phone and upload it so that i may compare and fix mine?
in custom recovery, do the following adb commands:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19 of=/tmp/mmcblk0p19_bak.img
adb pull /tmp/mmcblk0p19_bak.img
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

yes you can safely apply an older ruu if you have s-off, but first lets be sure if its the right one for your phone with the "fastboot getvar all"
also post a picture of your bootloader screen.

Do you need to S-On?
EDIT: check my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
use RUU.ZIP method (post #1, #2, and #4) using the 1.28.401.7 RUU.ZIP from guru
or AFH mirror: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407584993
S-On/S-Off is your decision, but you should definitely set it LOCKED (not relocked) and untampered.

Since you didn't downgrade it, the hboot is not the issue.
What is the error you are getting with the update? Here are some of the variables that the OTA checks.

you have this error because the bootloader is unlocked. unlocking the bootloader wipe all files in /data/preload so when the ota try to patch /data/preload/SoundHound_Freemium.apk it fail because the file no longer exist
restoring with a ruu will solve that issue.

tampered is only an issue if you'll have to send the phone for repair under warranty. Otherwise don't worry with this. It can be removed but it require s-off.

no, it says: You will need S-off to run the RUU if you have a higher firmware version on your phone currently

[SOLVED] HTC One M7 U version hboot 1.44 blocked on JB: impossible to flash RUU

Hi to everybody, I've bought an used HTC One, I've do S-Off, root and everything else.
But after I discovered that it has only 16Gb and not 32Gb and it is the U version, so not LTE available.
So, acting like an idiot, I've tried to restock to send back the phone.
I don't know what kind of ancient Ruu I've flashed so hboot now is 1.44 with Android 4.1.2.
This are all the operations I've done to restock:
1. Change the CID into HTC__001
2. Locked the bootloader
3. Trying to flash PN07IMG_M7_U_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.102_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01D_release_421804_signed.zip, as I friend of mine has suggested
But it does not work, everytime I've tried to Flash I've get an error and the process hangs down.
I cannot find any other RUU for HTC One M7 U with KitKat, or any other to update the hboot...
What can I do now, I can only use the phone with JB?

Your phone must be at least on a 6.xx.xxx.x firmware with hboot 1.57 to be able to flash the 7.xx.xxx.x RUU and you also must use the htc_fastboot.exe to flash lollipop RUU, not the normal fastboot. You can update the phone normally using ota update from your current version to 7.19.401.122 (settings --> about --> software update) or you'll have to update your firmware and then flash the lollipop RUU:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
htc_fastboot reboot
You don't need to lock the bootloader to flash a ruu when you have s-off
You can find the 7.19.401.102 ruu and htc_fastboot here.
don't forget you'll be prompted to update to 7.19.401.122 after flashing the ruu.
For the firmware update, I would simply use the 7.19.401.2 M7_UL firmware. This update is only required so the lollipop ruu can flash, this firmware will be replaced by the correct M7_U firmware when flashing the M7_U ruu anyway. To be able to flash it, open the zip and add your MID to the list in the android-info.txf file.
Btw next time keep posting in your original thread even if the situation has changed. You can edit your thread title and OP if required.

Hi thank you, but I cannot update from OTA, if I check I obtain "no update".
The phone is "locked", but it has still S-off, I was planning to flash the RUU and than S-on.
I've used the right htc_fastboot to flash the RUU...

I wouldn't recommend to go back s-on unless you are sending the phone for warranty. Are you planning to send back the phone or to use it?

No I want only to restock and sell it as I just said I was thinkink it was 32gb and Lte but it isn't.
It's a refurbished phone, so no warranty.
In your opionion is there nothing to do, I can only stay on Android 4.1.2?
Edit: Sorry now I've understood, no OTA update, but I could try to flash the firmware, I do it immeditely and than I'll update the status!
Thanks so much!

I've flashed the firmware you've suggested and than the RUU and FINALLY everything is gone right, now I am on Lollipop: so I offer you a beer by Paypal Donate!
Only two questions: Blinkfeed seems to be in Arabian, I can change it. But I do not understand why in languages I can find Italian (arabian), Italian (Egypt), but not Italian (Italy), it is a strange thing.
Second question: I think this is last update, but even if I am S-off can I obtain OTA update? If so I prefer to sell the phone as is, with S-off, I think it is a plus.
If not I'll get back to S-On, so the phone would be completely stock with OTA.
Thank you very much!!!

For languages availability, it all depend the CID and the version your are using. In case one of the language you need is not available, you can use an app like "morelocale" to enable it, don't no if it still working, I used this one back in 2012 on my Htc one x.
Last update for this version is 7.19.401.122. We might see another minor update soon as announced by Mo Versi on twitter to address the "stagefright" vulnerability. Yes you can still receive ota update with s-off, even with an unlocked bootloader. All you need is 100% stock rom and stock recovery. I would personally consider s-off as a plus if buying a phone as many other ppl.

Ok perfect! I let S-Off.
I've changed the cid from 1111111 to HTC__001 when I've started all the operation, in your opinion is there way to obtain italian (italy) flashing samething else?
It is not a problem for me, but there are lots of strange people on the world, so I think it could be a problem for some kind of buyer!
And now i will buy another htc one with the right features: I hope to be more lucky!

Sorry to disturb you again, but I would like to know if there is a solution, changing CID or samething else, for obtaining the righe Language Italian (Italy), if not I will close the phone in its pocket and than I'll try to sell it hoping the seller does not notice that!
