Hi everyone,
Just got my Z1 a week ago and it's going great. However, I've been fiddling around with the phone but still haven't found a way to put specific reminder times for specific events.
In case that didn't sound clear, let me give a few examples.
1. Event 1 takes place at 2:30PM and I need a reminder 30 minutes before the event
2. Event 2 takes place at 07:00 PM and I need a reminder 2 hours before the event.
From what I've figured out, the Z1 only allows a standard time to be set as reminder time for all events.
Does anyone know a way around this?
You can change the reminder time when you edit the event on the google calander

The only fields I get when editing an event are the name, location, start and end time, attendees and event description. I only get to change the event reminder time in settings, which will apply for all events.
As you can see here
http://prntscr.com/3f32ta
Both the stock calander app and the google calander app have the option to change the reminder time when you add an event
On one you have to click on "more" first, but it is available

Ah, just noticed the "more" menu. Thanks a ton!

It used to, now it only shows appointments that are today. I have checked all the settings I could and it seems to only want to show the current day.
Any ideas?
I tried uninstalling and removing all registry keys for it, but that was a no go.
Help.
Are you talking about the Now Screen? If so, did you go to Spb Shell settings, click on the Now Screen tab, and then the configure button? You can set how far out one can display appointments.

That only changes how much calendar is shown.. I am trying to get the now screen to show like the next 3 appointments ALWAYS.
Could it be a calendar registry problem? It looks as if my default calendar is the same after some experiments.
Sorry, I'm not aware of a setting like that for Spb Shell. Do you want ONLY three appointments, or AT LEAST 3 appointments always? Would the auto setting do that?
I would like more than just the next one.
Example..
I have 1 thing on there to do today, but 2 tomorrow. SO, it should show those 3 I would think. It seems like it used to.
I have mine set to auto, and it shows the next three events/appointments, or what ever it can fit on the screen I guess.
it won't show all day events though... just to clarify for you.
so if you're appointments are all day I don't think they'll be shown.
hope this sort of helps you.
also - have you changed any of the layouts (using qa_layouts, xml files, etc?) if you've been tinkering with those, you may lose the calendar opperability.

I think so!
I'm an old palm user and especially loved the advance function in datebk6. I could set and advance on an appointment and then it showed that appointment everyday with a little countdown next to it showing how many days to got till the appointment. Is there a similar function on ppc (I have agenda one and spbdiary). Don't get me wrong, I don't want an alarm in advance, I only want the important events to show in advance with a countdown timer.
Thanks for your input
The problem was an upcoming appointment with a "-" or "/" in it. After removal, all works fine. Odd.

Hello all,
I've been using my E-mail option quite a bit on my Touch Pro lately, and I've noticed that the 5 minute update interval is a bit too long for my taste (despite the option to manually send/receive).
Therefore, I am curious as to whether or not it is possible to make a registry edit, install a program, or in any way add an option to make the update interval less than every 5 minutes (say for example, every 30 seconds)?
Also, whenever there is a new e-mail, there is a notification symbol which appears on the taskbar. Along with that, is it possible to create another registry edit / addition which would allow the phone to:
1) wake up upon new e-mail,
2) make a notification sound upon new e-mail (similar to new SMS), and
3) vibrate upon new e-mail?
FWIW, I'm using a Comcast E-mail account on the Pro.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications, the notifications tab and change the Event to Messaging: New Email Message. Have 'play sound' checked and choose the sound you want; check Display message on screen and check vibrate. i think that will do it.
As for checking for new emails, you can try this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438970
I have an exchange server so I don't know the answer otherwise. Setting it to less than 5 minutes may lead to a battery drain so if you do that use the scheduler to make it longer (or off) over night.
Thanks for showing me the settings adjustment. I suppose it isn't such a good idea to have the phone check for e-mails THAT often. As long as I can hear when a new e-mail has arrived, it should do the trick for me.

Kiss your battery life goodbye!
So noticed something weird with the stock calendar app tied to my work (exchange) calendar. I have a daily meeting every morning and clicked on it to edit it, clicked to edit all instances, didn't actually make any changes, and after I had clicked save, the appointment no longer shows up in the calendar. It's just gone.
I still get the meeting reminder/alerts but it isn't in the calendar. Two other weird things--after clearing the alert sometimes it will show up again for the meeting--so I've gotten 2 and even 3 alerts for the same meeting. (This might be because I clear it, instead of clicking the alert and hitting dismiss in the calendar app). Today I did click the alert and dismissed it from the app. After doing that the appointment showed up again. After going into "edit" (to try to prevent the double alerts), and hitting save, once again, the appt. is gone.
Anyone else seeing this?
I too had this issue with some of my Outlook appointments that i brought down.
I noticed that when I went back to the month (in month view) where the very first instance of a recurring appointment took place, all of the appointments would pop back up and be displayed. Kinda wierd.
I tried entering appointments through the phone and it wont save anything. Hopefully the 2.2 update will fix a lot of exchange issues, since I feel this is a very important piece of the phone.

Update
After some testing with alpha group an update was released today to add several features and address some of the issues people post here and using comments.
The update is staged and it will take few day until it will come to everyone.
I'm sure more bugs will appear in the next few days and I will do my best to solve them and will upload a much cleaner version A.S.A.P.

Looks great. Does it support the lock screen?
Good thing? ?
Is it possible to have smaller pictures, or choice to select picture size in the future Or have 4x4, 4x2, etc. ?
I like to see more favorite contacts at once on home screen.

I'll see what i can do with the smaller pictures.
Lock screen mode is enabled also
Good widget:good:
Awesome widget! The only thing I wish it had is an option to force a confirmation pop-up window when clicking on a contact. or something like that. I find myself calling people by accident when I put the phone back in my pocket.
Cheers!
I don't know if this is possible with future updates but I figured I'd throw it out there:
It would be cool if this app could somehow pull data from Calendars or Facebook and let you know "its so-and-so's birthday today" as a reminder for you to call them.

Frank hi.
I doubt that that facebook option will possible since it require network access.
that widget require phone book and call log access that along are Invasive permissions with network access that even worse.
after saying that if the community will ask for that I will check what I can do.

I do not seem to get that working. I am not too much of an expert with Tasker even though I know the basics.
it's always a good idea to share your profile when it's not working as expected. Make sure it's named - not a default name assigned by tasker. Then long press on the name to highlight the profile. Go to the 3-dot menu and select export -> Description to Clipboard.
Then you'll be able to paste it. Be aware, it easier to use pastebin then link to a post here. If you paste in a post here, the forum software will convert all semicolons with characters after, typically "on" and "off", to emoticons making it very hard to read.

Exactly the one. You can have Tasker react to its Ongoing-Notifications.
