Screen flicker fix? - Verizon LG G2

I just moved over to the G2 from the S4 (ridiculously locked down), and so far it has been great. I've noticed the screen flicker when it's under ~40% brightness, and it was an issue that was documented in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466268
It seems it is at the kernel level. I've been snooping around, but it's a needle in a haystack when searching rom threads, so I'll just ask. Does anyone personally know if any custom roms (preferably the latest stock 4.4.2 build) have a modded kernel that fixes this? It's the one thing that is pretty annoying. Otherwise, getting rid of laggy touchwiz has been great.

[Q] Status on CM Based ROM Screen Rotation Issues?

Hey guys, I've been off the forums for about a week or so now...can anybody briefy bring me up to speed regarding the issues of the wifi bug, and the auto rotation bug? From what I very hastily just skimmed, I didn't see anything indicating there has been a fix yet. Is there at least any news regarding the status of these issues, and when they may possibly be fixed?
I'm quite fond of ROM flashing, and we all know our small Droid 4 following is pretty limited in the amount of dev support it recieves, compared to several other phones; and continue to appreciate the few devs that have remained faithful to providing the Droid 4 with the few ROMs it does have. So, the not being able to use any custom ROMs because of these few critical glitches has been horrible.
Any insight from anyone on the status of these issues would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hello,
Sorry to but in, but I'm also experiencing an issue with the Accelerometer not producing any data. I can only switch to landscape mode by sliding the phone open, but I have to turn the screen off and back on to restore back to portrait. Not a huge problem, but one I'd love to see a fix to. Any updates on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
if your on CM10 download his latest version. This should have a fix

Screen flickering

Hello.
Just bought this terminal, D410, and when luminosity is 0% or close there is a little but noticeable flickering on the screen. It's better seen with a white background.
I read some LG phones had this issue, can you confirm it happens with yours, if not I'll just try to replace it.

looks like that is normal, mine does the same, i was wondering if it was only me, but now i know i am not alone
besides that the phone is great so no complaints
Ahhh and mine is an L90 ( D415)
so looks like that "issue" happens across similar models
Yeah, I thought so. Looks like G2 has the same problems.
The flickering is minimal so I won't bother too much. I can always use screen filter
And yeah, this phone is great!

That's actually a normal thing to happen, something to do with the frequency at wich the leds pulse to appear "less bright".
Turn brightness up and it will go away.
Hi.
mine also has this problem. For me, it quite annoying, I do not want to use screen filter.
Is there anyone know how to fix it?
Does it happen on non-stock rom (slim, CM...)?
Edit: I have flashed Slim rom. It is great, and I barely see the flicker. In stock 5.0.2, it is annoying, and in Kitkat it is unacceptable for me (I think my eyes are sensitive).
Will anyone try to modify the stock kernel so that the backlight pwm will increase?

Which Slim, L or M based? Try using a higher minimum CPU frequency (make sure you pick a governor that allows setting frequencies), I remember reading that it's what made stock Lollipop better regarding screen flickering.

slim 6.0.1 and cm 12.1. both are almost flicker-free (infact i think i see a little bit, but i dont know if this is just my imagination or not). in both stock 4.4 and 5.0, the flicker is clearly seen.
thank for your information, i will try.
Edit: I have tried with Kitkat v10f. No luck I just dont want stock Lolipop, it is just too laggy compared to Cm 12.1

[Q] Phone Questions

So I'm thinking about getting an LG G2 on Verizon, and I have a few questions about it. Is the bootloader unlockable/can custom ROMs be installed on the latest stock OS? Is battery life good? What is your average screen on time? Have you had any problems with the G2?
Thanks for your time.

My experience: xlnt screen, long battery life, easily bootloader-unlocked by Stump v1.2, TWRP is good custom recovery,
and there are lots of good roms being cooked up. See XDABEB and other great dev's work in dev sections here.
On the two I own, both had GPS issues. I took xlnt advice from others here and opened the case, located the GPS antenna,
and put a bit of black tape underneath it to hold it up to the connection on the caseback. Second part of GPS repair is
installing Play Store app called 'GPS Status". It runs in the background and keeps your GPS honest. I had another issue
caused by flashing several roms in a row: lost double-tap-to-wake which is essential on this phone for me. The fix sounds
kinda complicated, but it's done in 20 minutes and now tap to wake is perfect. That fix is also here on xda.
It's a great phone that seems to do everything well.
Thanks!
The reason the GPS gets goofy is because the backplate clip isn't springy enough. I've owned a few Verizon models and never had an issue with GPS.
Later versions (seems fixed now) of Maps would mess up my compass heading at a stop. I never taken my phones apart.
Best phone ever. I love the stock rom. Been using G3 ports lately

Lollypop touch screen issue

Having tried a few LP roms (loved them all) missed some of the Sony stuff mainly the camera I reverted back to 4.4.4 and I'm still having screen issues? Which makes me wonder if the problem lies outside the ROM and is hidden the boot.img? and because its newer when you flash an older ROM it doesn't update this, I'm no dev and was wondering if this could be the cause of the problem, like back when unlocking boot lost the camera. But this time its a screen bug. Has anyone else who have reverted back to KK from LP still got this problem?
Update, I think the problem lies in the .157 update as I updated to this before LP. I'm also wondering if phones affected by the yellow tinge are affected more by touch screen problems? As I have a yellowish screen. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated

Low Brightness Flicker (LineageOS & Stock too?)

Hi, sorry if this was posted before, but with XDA moving to XenForo, search seems messed up, i did several searches and nothing comes up for "flicker" in this whole Pixel 4 XL Forum...
Has anyone else dealt with the low brightness screen flicker? I know it can't be just a bad phone, since i just bought three pixel 4 XL phones and they all exhibit this same behavior.
They are all running LineageOS (Official builds) so I don't know if this just affects the ROM or stock as well (although I've read it might affect stock phones too elsewhere).
It makes the phone pretty difficult to use in very low light situations, the screen will constantly flicker (more noticeable on darker backgrounds).
At first I thought it was just the Opera browser (as that's what I prefer), but it's operating system wide... Apps like "Darker" help.... because you can crank up the phone brightness and use a filter to dim the screen.... but it doesn't get the top & bottom menu/buttons, so those remain like spotlights in your eyes with that workaround.
Just curious if anyone knows whats up with this... it's the only phone I've ever seen this behavior on (and i've used Pixel 1,2,3 XL phones all with Lineage, and a myriad of other devices back in the Cyanogenmod days.... I've never seen a screen flicker issue like this).
Thanks for any help
edit / update-
the pro version of "darker" app works to fix this.... you crank the phones brightness to 100% and with the pro version you can dim the rest of the interface.
hopefully this helps anyone else suffering from this HUGE flaw (again i don't know if its just LineageOS or not, i didn't run stock on these except to unlock bootloader etc)
Hi,
I've seen it once and solved it by switching off smooth display. Not a real solution of course, but I never really noticed the difference between 90Hz and 60Hz anyway.
