Try installing ES file explorer. Go to tools, set root explorer to On and grant it SU access. Then, select mount r/w and set system to read/write. Then go to /system/app/ and delete the MXHome launcher and put in any other launcher.

i cant launch any apps i already have es file exsplorer on ,my kindle i need somthing for pc

If you can get to kindle settings then goto the launcher that is crashing under I think it was apps or running processes, and clear its defaults that it is associated with, you should be able to choose another launcher by hitting the home button once you do that.

You need to delete the launcher pro files from dbdata and data folder. I hope you have one alternate launcher to navigate and root explorer or similar to do so. After that reinstall the apk after placing it on the system/app folder.

Download GO launcher from market, download Root explorer or some file manager that gives your root access. then find all the instances of Launcherpro and delete them. Install the launcherpro again. Will work. I solved it like this.

[Q] Rooted KFHD Running Go Launcher Ex - NOOB question

Hello all,
I have been using the site for reference for the last few days whilst i have been slowly getting to grips with my Rooted Fire HD and have to say that it seems like a great little community and some extremely helpfull members.
Just a quick question regarding changing the stock wallpaper on the Go Launcher theme?
I have downladed a couple of different Wallpaper Apps from the play store. They open and allow me to browse the images, when i chose one and click on the set as wallpaper button i get a notification telling me the app has stopped working?
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong or suggestins of how I can get this to work.
Thanks
Chris

ChrisRandall,
These services used below were designed to be used with Go Launcher.
Step 1: Download Live Wallpaper Picker(Dropbox) or Live Wallpaper Picker(Ubuntu One) save LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to your desktop
Step 2: Download AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3(Dropbox) or AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3(Ubuntu One) save AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk to your desktop
Step 3: Using Windows Explorer, move AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk from your desktop to Kindle/Internal Storage/Download
Step 4: Using ES File Explorer, launch ES File Explorer. Open the ES File Explorer Settings, Choose Root Settings. Make sure you check all the options in Root Settings. Be sure to Allow the Superuser request to ES File Explorer.
Step 5: Using ES File Explorer with Superuser permissions. Move AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk from /sdcard/Download to /system/app
Step 6: Next long press on /system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk select Permissions. Change the permissions to User: Read Write Group: Read Others: Read
Step 7: Next long press on /system/app/AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk select Permissions. Change the permissions to User: Read Write Group: Read Others: Read
If you decide to use a different Wallpaper Picker, you need to use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to Move the new Picker from /data/app to /system/app then change the Permissions to: User: Read Write Group: Read and Others: Read
So let's say you decide to download and install Wallbase HD Wallpapers, you would use Google Play Store to install the App and then:
HD Wallpapers Step 1: Download and Install the app, in this example we will use Wallbase HD Wallpapers. Pay close attention to the Wallbase HD Wallpapers logo and developer name, we will use this logo to find the Wallbase HD Wallpapers application in /data/app. We know the logo is a Gray box with a W in the middle and the developers name is Tim Clark
HD Wallpapers Step 2: After the install has completed, then use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to navigate to /data/app, then slowly scroll down looking for the Gray Icon with the W in the middle. You will find it about 1/2 the way down and named com.citc.wallbase-1.apk
HD Wallpapers Step 3: Next long press on com.citc.wallbase-1.apk and select Move
HD Wallpapers Step 4: Move com.citc.wallbase-1.apk from /data/app to the /system/app folder
HD Wallpapers Step 5: Change the permissions of com.citc.wallbase-1.apk to match User: Read Write Group: Read and Others: Read
HD Wallpapers Step 6: Reboot the Kindle
The Wallbase HD Wallpapers will now work with Go Launcher since it is a System App.
Thank you for your quick and in depth reply.
I will give this ago later and let you know how I get on!!

ChrisRandall,
Be sure you install the AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk in /system/app regardless of the other apps. These are Dependant services and are required to allow Go Launcher to work with Live Wallpaper and Widgets.
We will watch your thread for questions just in case you get stuck.
Thank you again, followed the steps this morning and I now have a few different wallpaper apps running perfectly!

Can't see background
Hello,
Thank you for the great instructional guide. I am however encountering an issue that I am unable to solve at this time. I have rooted my kindle fire HD 7.4.3 and installed the google play store (dependencies), and go laucnher / livewallpaperapk. My live wallpaper has been moved into the systems folder and granted the correct permissions as well.
Go launcher is able to see the wallpaper / allows me to set it, but the background remains black. I have thus far been unable to determine why the background remains black. I have followed the guides to the letter. Please let me know if you have any input regarding this issue.

Amazon disabled the ability for us to set wallpaper because the stock launcher doesn't use it and it was wasting ram. Goto this thread on page 8 and try my fix, it works on all kindles affected. I am trying to make my script safer but occasionally there are a few bricks related to low disk space, if that happens you will need a fast boot cable to restore the system partition, or if u already have twrp Installed u can just restore the backup my script makes.

It allowed me chose a live wallpaper once and it is still installed but when i try to go into either the app picker or live wallpaper picker it tells me the app has stopped and i cant go into it. Any ideas? Hope somebody can help me.
I am using nova because i couldnt get go launcher or go launcher ex runnnng properly on my kfhd7
Hi, my rooted Kindle recently un-rooted after I did a factory reset to fix an issue with the sound. I have re-rooted using both KFFA and B4 Binary methods but now don't seem able to use Es Explorer to move Go Ex into my system/app folder. I have downloaded from both play store and on-line into my downloads folder but when I attempt to move, I get permission denied. I can't change permissions in the download folder and Es is set up in root mode, SU is allowing access and the SD is mounted. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

[Q] Cant Uninstall Launchers on Kindle Fire HD 7"

So I rooted my kindle a couple weeks ago and it was working good, but it got slower and slower. It wouldn't let me do a bunch of things so I finally just reset it to the defaults. Everything was wiped, which was fine, but I still have magic locker, no lock, nova launcher and like three other launchers on it. I opened ES File Explorer and found the files and tried to delete them but it said it cant "Read Only File System". Whenever I turn my kindle screen off it goes crazy with magic locker and the other launchers. How do I uninstall these?
You have to re-root and then enable root browser in es file explorer. Then delete them from there and reboot.

Widgets on Kindle Fire 5th gen

Okay so I rooted and installed apex launcher, and have google services with hangouts/gmail working. When I try to make a gmail widget on my screen it brings me to the settings page, and then the widget is gone.
I tried making apex launcher a system app by putting it's apk file in the /system/app folder that also did not work.
Is there a way to get widgets working?
Can't speak for apex but have no trouble with widgets using either now Launcher or Nova on my wifes, rooted with play services and store (and never registered with Amazon). Initially with now Launcher had to wait for play services update before it worked. Can't remember if I did anything else to get it working but I recall that I originally had the same problem.
I used Nova and made it a system app, and widgets work. I used this app /system/app mover from F-Droid: http://click.xda-developers.com/api...f-droid.org/repository/brows...systemappmover That I found from another thread on here.
I was successful on creating widgets for those apps that I'd made system apps. There are apps at google market which can do so.
I tried both Nova and Apex and converting to system app didn't do it. (So maybe build version matters. I'm running November 12.) Anyway, you may need to install Apex in /system/priv-app (recommended by @martinml and others). First make sure perms on the apk in /system/app are rw- r-- r-- (chmod 644) and reboot. If still no widgets, move to priv-app (confirm perms, reboot).
(Or, as mentioned here and by @sd_shadow in several posts, widgets work with Google Now without conversion.)
Widgets working in Google Now Launcher if you are willing to switch.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I never did get widgets working on the stock rom but i never tried google launcher.. I'm on CM12.1 and never going back. It just works great and widgets work too.

/system/app mover from the Play Store worked perfectly, moving Nova launcher as a system app (running rooted 5.1.1)
Now I have widgets! Thanks!
thank you that did the trick... i was just going to give up and not worry about widgets. had the problem with trying to put widgets and all it did was take me to the settings menu.

So do you just install Nova from the play store then convert it to a system app while leaving Fire OS alone to get widgets to work ? I tried Super tool which deletes Fire OS and installs Nova as a system app automatically, but widgets do not work that way.

I did the same thing and was able to move Nova over to system apps with the /system/app mover without any trouble even with the Fire launcher having been deleted.
Finally! A solution that works!

Thank you so much for this solution...I've been trying to get around this issue on my rooted Kindle Fire for weeks now. Many thanks!
Please help!
I tried the /system/app mover from F-Droid as mentioned above by SilverPony2001 in an attempt to change my Apex Launcher from user/app to system/app. I rebooted and now my tablet screen only comes on and off for a few seconds as if I was pressing the lock button over and over. I'm not sure what to do at this point?

How to remove nova launcher?

So i used Root Junkies tool to install nova launcher on my 5.11 amazon fire. I dont particularly care for it. Is there a way to remove it. The app is not able to be uninstalled from the settings.
The batch file made it a system file like the Amazon apps. It's not a bad idea to have two installed tbh.
Anyway before you try and remove it, make sure you've another launcher on the Fire as the batch deletes the amazon one.
Easier to just add another launcher from the store, then pressing home should* give option to switch to it. (Now Launcher is a pain though and for that you need to go to Settings, Apps & Games, Manage All applications, slide across to all tab, find Nova launcher and Clear Defaults. Then press home).
You can delete Nova in a rooted file browser (ES file browser with root permissions maybe), or a system app deletion app, or from shell. You could edit the batch file if you've the file of the new one you want, put it in the pc directory with all those other files and then run it to install that and wipe nova.
How could you get the stock fire launcher back on?
Grab the file com.amazon.firelauncher.apk from OP in this thread
